Great scran. Stake and Ale pie was amazing

The Dolphin has a typical. old style pub atmosphere (looks like something from Boston). The service was attentive. The menu has something for every taste, and we all ordered something different. It was all really good. The portion size on the chicken wings is small, but other than that, it all hit the spot. I ordered a salad and the fish chowder. I am not really a huge fan of fish chowder, but I am now. Not sure what was in it, but I have to track that down and try to make it at home. It was the best ever!

Visited several times before and always enjoy the food and friendly service. Always good to get a nice pint and good home cooked food.

While taking around southern England we book a 3 day start at the Dolphin Tavern, it's turned out to be the best stay we have had, the food, the service and the room have all exceeded our expectations. All the staff have been very helpful and the food has been excellent.

Excellent in all aspects and great consistent service

Best meal of the week during our stay in Penzance. I enjoyed a Cornish Rump Steak which was cooked perfectly. My friends enjoyed their beef and chicken Sizzlers (which looked like a house speciality), and the Steak & Ale pie. Good choice of beers. I tried the Hicks Ale, which wasn't to my liking. The barman didn't hesitate to replace it with a pint of Tribute which was appreciated. We all had a sweet, which was also tasty. All of the staff were both helpful and friendly. We would definitely eat here again next time we are in Penzance.

Great food and drink and excellent service

Really tasty food. I had a watermelon feta and basil salad and cheesy chips, my wife had the vegetarian chili and my son the scampi and chips. Top stuff! Friendly staff too.

Eat here Sunday 25 Feb 2024 2 Roast beef’s and a smaller roast for my 90 year old Mother in Law. Probably the best roast we have ever had, lovely tender beef, massive homemade yorkie, 4 potatoes and 5 different vegetables. Cannot fault anything; well run by Richard and his team and the waitress were first class and friendly. When back from Spain we will definitely eat here again.

We had a lovely evening meal here. The menu is varied and portions plentiful. The staff were friendly and very accepting of our dog. I would definitely recommend and will revisit again when in Penzance.

Friendly staff, very welcoming.

Perfect location for visiting Penzance, there is no parking on site but a large city carpark is nearby. Staff was very friendly and helpful. Room was spacious, recently renovated and painted, modern bathroom, everything spotlessly clean. Dinner and breakfast were delicious, amazing coffee in the morning. Dolphin Tavern exceeded our expectations, highly recommended.

Nice pub with great service. The food is good quality, if a smidge too expensive. But overall great pub to go and enjoy.

Close to everything, just round corner from main promenade along sea front, 5 to 10 mins walk from train station, town centre, and museums. Staff really friendly, great food in the evening that catered for my Wide's gluten and dairy allergies, as did the tasty breakfast the following day, quiet room with big comfy bed and decent rainfall shower. Recommend staying here to anybody.

Really good vibe couse pub restaurant

My husband and I recently visited with our puppy,(we'd rung first to ask if dogs were allowed). We were made to feel very welcome, the service was excellent and our meals, a steak sizzler and a chicken sizzler, were amazing. Thank you.

Large family gathering and we did not want for anything very attentive and engaging staff, variety of meals ordered, steaks burgers fish and chips sizzlers all timed to perfection and served piping hot, totally delicious and our Canadian family loved the atmosphere .... thank you

This pub has character, and is warm and welcoming. There were nine of us in the party. The food was good and the service excellent. There are so many different types of coffee nowadays, and we all chose something different, which must have been a headache for the barista, but it seemed to be no trouble at all. Everyone on the staff was cheerful and friendly.

With many thanks to the friendly, helpful, staff at The Dolphin Tavern. They hosted our group of 10 with charm and attention. We were celebrating a bit of Christmas plus a Birthday! The food was gorgeous and everyone was very happy. So much so, we’ve re-booked for another Christmas celebration later in the month. Thank you.

We went to Penzance for the weekend. We stayed two nights at The Dolphin. From the moment we arrived until the moment we left every single member of staff were welcoming, friendly, cheerful, professional and helpful. Our room was spotlessly clean and the bed was so comfortable.We had breakfast on two mornings. The menu was varied and not run of the mill. Both days our breakfasts were cooked to perfection. The ingredients were fresh and wholesome. We highly recommend a stay at the Dolphin and we most certainly will be returning.

Popped in for a cream tea when passing. Had excellent service throughout the visit. Food delivered promptly, nice warm scones, a pot of jam, and lashings of cream. A decent size pot of tea rounded it off nicely

Went for Xmas dinner with work colleagues, the meal was cooked to perfection and served by very attentive staff who made the whole evening very enjoyable.

A lot of places are not open on a Monday so essential to book here as Dolphin are open and they are adjacent to Scilly ferry terminal. Food and service consistently good with a specials board plus a fairly extensive menu, Beer well kept.

We called in to this pub because it looked good from the outside. Inside a traditional Cornish pub served on by a lovely lady who was extremely polite and professional. Beer was very good. Food great choices, we had burgers, chicken burgers and veggie burgers all of which were excellent, well done to you all.

After wondering the streets of Penzance in search of somewhere which could feed three hungry families of four for lunch, we stumbled across this pub. All other establishments were either run down or clearly weren’t targeting young families. This pub looked welcoming and had a traditional pub food menu, exactly what we were looking for. The food was amazing and the staff were very welcoming. Would certainly recommend this venue to anyone visiting the area.

Our accommodation recommended this pub. Visited twice, a busy Sunday and Friday - without a reservation but they fitted us in, even opening up another room to accommodate 2 other parties. Excellent menu, great service and a nice atmosphere.

We stopped here for a beer and to take in a Cornish treat the Cream Tea. The pub advertise the Perfect Cornish Cream Tea. So that's what we ordered. First, the beer selection was standard, but the pint was decent. Now, the cream tea of two scones, cream and raspberry jam. Portion size was generous, all the products were tasty and we both really enjoyed our tea and drinks. Never sampled any other food, but we enjoyed our short visit, and the staff on this occasion were helpful and friendly. No complaints.
