Dolce & Salato in Guildford

Quite simply the best pizza and gelato in Guildford. Traditional Italian made.. Honestly don't bother with anywhere else.

Great pizza, tiramisu, arancini and cannoli. Highly recommended!

Visited last night for the first time and hands down, will never visit again! The rudeness of the staff was unbelievable! The young lad serving clearly didnt want to be there and couldnt have been less interested in the customers, his greeting being ‘What do you want’ whilst in the back ground the other staff having an argument and refusing to clean something! Their attitudes were terrible, never experienced something so bad. I am embarrassed for the owner and if he/she is reading this, with staff like this, your business is going to fail pretty quickly! Shame as its a cute little store.

Arrived at 21.30 (30 mins before they closed) and all we wanted was a hot drink and ice cream. We were just stared at when we entered as clearly they did not want our custom. Two of the young males were having an argument in the back room as they didn't want to clear up and the one serving us was extreme rude. To put into context, my partner said afterwards he was going to say something but thought that male probably would have started a physical fight if he had. The tea he made was filled to the brim of the cup and hot water spilt all over the sides, all over my hands and onto my boots (it had a lid on so originally I thought the lid wasn't on properly and when I took the lid off I saw why it was happening.) They clearly do not take any care in this place and i would strongly recommend training staff in what good customer service is. We all have bad days but don't take it out on your paying customers.

It's a cozy place to sit in. The coffees and salad are nice and fresh. I'd love to try the gelato next time that many people were queueing up for when we dined in there. Staff is friendly.

My first time in Guildford and I was craving for something sweet. I saw the name online and went there without expecting anything. I tried Donuts. Firstly I tried pistachio donuts and then plain donut. It was great. And Chris was so nice to me and he made a great Cappuccino for me. He explained me a bit about other desserts too since I'm not that much familiar with bakery. Great guy. I will surely recommend anyone visiting Guildford or for that matters England, do checkout this amazing place.

Very good ice cream but the worst arancine I had in my life Stale, very salty and cold. A rude server didn't help either

This a small Italian shop, selling delicious genuine Italian food. My arancino was fantastic, as good as the ones I ate in Sicily the week before , and so was the mango gelato and my doppio espresso. We have been there before, and my son orders arancini and other food from there. Highly recommended.

I really had high expectations of this place given all the rave reviews. Sadly, however, I have to report that the pizza we had delivered on Sunday 1 September 2024 was one of the worst I’ve ever had. Something had clearly gone wrong with the dough. It was like a hardened sponge. Such a shame.

Delicious paninis, best we’ve ever tasted. Great buffalo mozzarella and Parma ham. Very glad we found this place!

We popped in in the afternoon to get a takeaway leaflet but they just had this chalk board which I photographed. We then rang up and collected in the evening. Well worth the effort. The pizzas were fabulous. Beautifully thin crispy bases with succulent toppings . All four of us were extremely pleased with our pizza.

I went for the pizza, which was very good, base sauce and caramelised onion were particularly nice, but then I saw the apple crumble gelato... That was one of the best things I've ever eaten. I haven't had apple ice cream or gelato outside of Austria and a couple of other European spots, and this was exceptional even compared against one of my very favourite things. I wish I'd bought an entire freezer worth. To address some of the negative reviews - Service was nice and friendly, no problem there. I think part of the issue is people using deliveroo. Due to the nature of this kind of proper pizza you are better off collecting and eating within 10 to 15 mins. We gave up on deliveroo after never having received an order on time, remotely warm, edible, complete or in one case it wasn't received at all as they couldn't be bothered to find where we lived despite me texting them a map. Make the trip, is worth it.

We stopped for a lovely pizza and ice cream. A lovely gentleman served us and we ate inside. The pizza was delicious and the ice cream was tasty too. I would highly recommend Dolce&Salato.

Visited a couple of times, and pizza is always exceptional! Really great taste and amazing value for money. Ordered over the phone for takeaway, and we received 2 free soft drinks. Our favourite pizza place in Guildford!

If you are going here for arancini - don’t go. They are dry, overcooked rice and not fresh. Save yourself some money. Sad

I went in on a Sunday evening for some ice cream but the young lad behind the counter was very rude to me and even slammed a bottle of something down on the counter and stormed away when I made my order. I couldn't believe what had happened and so I just left after this. He was obviously just having a bad day but still, this is completely ridiculous behaviour.

Outstanding place... Best pizza in Guilford. Full stop. I have enjoyed a pepperoni pizza that was made properly but what made this place very special is the fact that it took me back to 90s with the Italian music. A really good place with an amazing intimate homely feeling. We'll come back with friends! 😁

Really nice people, helped us so much to get some pizzas ready early during the day with a birthday party on short notice. The price is very good for what they do, we were even given free drinks on the day. The pizzas tasted so good, everyone at the party loved them. If you want authentic Italian food and a good and warm experience, this is the place to go

This weekend having to do security at the festival here in Guildford, Looking for a good coffee for my breakfasts, I was attracted by the sign of this pizzeria, and entering I immediately felt like I was in Italy, then I am sure I drank one of the best espresso coffees I have ever had in England, my friend tried the ice cream told me it was very good, not to mention the chocolate bomboloni (filled donuts) and the amazing rice arancini as well, it was surprising to See the lady to do the deep cleaning while the husband was preparing the pizza dough and the fresh sandwiches they use to make fresh every morning. They will be part of the main reasons why I will return to Guildford from London. This weekend, having to do security at the festival here in Gilford, looking for a good coffee for my breakfasts, I was attracted by the sign of this pizzeria, and upon entering I immediately felt the feeling of being in Italy, then I'm sure I had drank one of the best coffees I've ever tried in England, my friend tried the ice cream and told me it was very good, not to mention the chocolate donuts and the arancini, it was very nice to see the lady making the deep cleaning while her husband was preparing in the kitchen for the pizza dough and the fresh rolls they make every morning. They will be part of the main reasons why I return to Guildford.

Fourth time pizza was delivered with topping slidded to one side and not sliced. Sliced option should be removed, as they never slice pizza as requested. Pizza is nice but very disappointing and off-putting.

Wow what an amazing find!! So pleased to come across this super tasty Italian cuisine! An authentic Italian eatery in the lovely surroundings of scenic Guildford. A cosy restaurant with lovely decor and those authentic Italian vibes! Wonderful service from our server who was helpful, efficient and very friendly. The food is phenomenal. Real Italian food! We enjoyed the Margherita pizza, mushroom and cheese arancini and the chocolate cannolis! Soooo tasty. I would definitely recommend this place if you’re in Guildford looking for real genuine Italian food, with a homely feel. I am looking forward to coming back and trying some more food and the coffees.

Very good sorbet blemished by thoughtless customer service. I took my twins who have a dairy allergy, and while many ice-cream places are able to handle this with sensitivity and care, the servers said dismissively they always use the same scoop for everything and advised us to go elsewhere. I explained that while there is always a small risk of cross-contamination, they could get a fresh scoop and take the sorbet from the unused end. This is pretty basic stuff and eateries should be capable of making reasonable adjustments to attend to common allergies. In the end we were able to enjoy a very good sorbet that was unfortunately delivered in a rather sullen way. I am sorry to give a low rating, but I think it’s important to make the point that attentiveness to allergies is not an optional extra.

Not only for Italians who live in the UK, where you already feel at home as soon as you enter and breathe in the unmistakable scents, but also for those who live in Guildford, it is a point of reference for the authenticity and freshness of the products, but also for the kindness and helpfulness of the owners and the guys who work there. Super recommended for both sweet and savory, like the name of the shop! Excellent orders placed online, fast and delivered with care. See you soon!

Food is great but we had a bad experience with the service. We ordered for delivery to a nearby pub they work with. After placing the order they called us to say they didn't have some or the things ordered (arancinis). When we got the order, we asked for the partial refund of the unavailable items, but even after contacting them repeatedly, that never happened.

Just took away 3 different flavoured canoli's after ordering a pizza with them via Deliveroo earlier on in the week. Absolutlely superb. It's great having little gems like this on our doorstep. Many thanks

I almost want to move from France to live in Guildford ! This would be my daily coffee stop. Great coffee, amazing pastries and the loveliest Sardinian family running the cafe. Shame it is so small as every outside table is full, just fantastic---- well done, a real jewel. Glad I need to be back in Guildford in a month.---- deffo another visit. Bacci Sue

Stoped by today after the smell drew me in, 1 chicken and spinach and 1 ham and cheese aranchini, bloody delicious! And for dessert a milfoi not sure the spelling is correct, but they are seeet, salty, buttery and fresh, if you have not been, go, I will 100% be stopping by again, to try the pizza this maybe too.

Nice small place, offers pizza, arancinis, and sweet treats. The pizzas are amazing, paying for good quality and worth it. The arancinis are flavourful, although adding some baking paper would be good to stop it from sticking to the boxes they are served in.

I'm sure the food is lovely, I'm just disappointed at how they treat delivery drivers. Every single time I have picked up at this restaurant I'm told just a few minutes, almost ready etc, and then I usually end up having to wait 7-10 minutes. Why call a driver if the food isn't ready, and why lie to the drivers and say 1 minute when it's actually 5 or 10 minutes? I understand that you might not want the food to go cold, and if so, get a holding cabinet like most restaurants in Guildford. If you struggle to get drivers to accept orders from your restaurant, I guarantee it's because you mess them about and lie to them about how long the food will take. I want to be clear though, the main issue is the lying to drivers about the wait time.

I visit this place regularly around 3,/4 times a week, I have bought cakes biscuits ice cream etc from them, each and every single time I have been in I have always asked for a coffee, and so far I have never had one... I have visited over the last 3 months and every time I get told WE HAVE NO MILK !!! What an absolute lame excuse ! I have had family and friends go in on the off chance and we all laughed as they all said the same they were told they had no milk..... I think they don't like using their coffee machines and would rather you had an ice cream or pizza to takeaway and not sit around havibg coffee... real let down to be honest..... I visited this sunday In the evening there was a tall young guy with black wavy hair he said there was no milk, I commented to him and told him there is akwsys no milk, I told him I was going to put a review about this no milk thing, he turned around and just said sorry ! We ended up having an ice cream . So if the owner would like to confirm this with his staff he will realise this is all true. His staff are always saying there is no milk.

Although it's a small place to eat in they made it possible for us all to have a seat and it was worth it. The meals were delicious - marvellous pizza! and service was very kind. We will definately come back when visiting Guildford.

Tiny place but packed with flavour. Absolutely loved it. Pistachio ice cream and cannoli were a firm favourite for ages but went there recently for a pizza and it was divine!

Have an ice cream and an Aperol Spritz and enjoy it at one of the tables outside, on the pavement on a sunny day. It's great!

Best ice cream I've ever had, go for either cookies flavour or mint choc chip if they have it. Oreo is also good. Great value place, the arancini is pretty good too. And love that it's open late.

I never leave reviews but wow... Phenomenal food. I have been to many pizzerias and Italian restaurants and to Italy itself many times but this little restaurant.... Wow... The pizza I had was AMAZING. And the desserts.... Are just on another level... The cannoli, ice cream, tiramisu... TOP. QUALITY. Absolutely beautiful. I live in East London but I would drive to this little place in Guildford just for their food!!! Lovely customer service and fairly priced. Thank you!

We were meeting with a friend there and had a delightful time. The pizzas are by far the best we've ever had in the UK! So much better than any other pizza places. The Birra Messina was excellent too. Ilaria and the team were very friendly, and she treated us with a little limoncello at the end of the meal, which was the perfect end to a perfect evening. Small Italian shop situated close to the city center. You'll find a wide variety of freshly cooked Italian food, such as pizza, pasta, arancini, cannoli, and gelato. In addition, you can also buy various ingredients and canned foods. There's some seating indoors and a couple of tables outdoors but if you come during rush hour you're better off getting takeaway.

Best place to find real, Italian flavours, food and drinks also, bought Lamborghini wine for gifts which is very rare to find in the Guildford High Street👌

Tiny family run Italian restaurant, ice cream shop and take away. Dined in and was served by a lovely young Italian lady. Had a fantastic pizza with a nice glass of Nero D'Avola followed up with some ice cream. Even gave me a complimentary shot of limoncello. I can recommend this little gem.

We found this resturant by chance when we saw their gorgeous selection of cannoli and cakes in the window. We were greeted straight away by the lovely Ilaria. Extremely quick friendly service, the food was amazing. The pizza was too die for. I honestly thought I was in Italy. We took the cannoli away with us and it still was amazing a few hours later. I would so recommend this place, small seating area but looks like this do takeaway.

I have been very happy at this place. The food is amazing. I do have two little comments, the last two times we ordered 4 fromaggi pizza the pizza leaked :( and the pizzas were transported with care. Additionally, they used to cut the pizzas and now they don’t anymore.

The food is fantastic, anything they make is delicious. It's not really a dine in place and the service can be a little slow but it's one of the best pizza I ever had and the pastries are great too. Honestly absolutely amazing.

Highly recommended ! Me and my boyfriend went there for Women’s Day dinner and how great we were welcomed by lovely staff ! We felt like in Italy family diner , they take care of us so great . Food is unbelievable ! Amazing deserts and warm atmosphere . We will come back soon because we felt amazing and everything was so delicious . I never miss a chance to have some of the delicious gelato or desserts. Everything i’ve tried so far has been really yummy!

The sense of euphoria I get from every mouthful of pizza is indescribable. It's those memories, the feelings, that taste...I now go there every Friday - I have travelled extensively throughout all of modern Europe sampling pizzas. This is home, right here - you will not be disappointed!

Without a question - the best pizza in Guildford!

Finding an authentic Italian Cafe is hard, but this family-run business has delicious food and excellent service. I had a cappuccino with patisserie, advice was to have the soft doughnut warm. It transported me back to memories of Rome. We took some food home with instructions on how to prepare it. The Cafe might be small but if you get a chance, do go in, it is worthwhile. We will go back for date night and have pizza. :)

We were suppose to buy coffee and pastries and eat in with couple of friends but the lady on the cafe turned us away because she said we cant eat in unless we order pizza. Probably change the rating if I actually tried the food.
