Very good food and service. We shared Scotch egg(!) and chicken pie, Guinness and white wine. (But we're Swiss...Very tasty. Highish prices typical of London

Best Espresso Martini I've ever had - surely an extra mystery ingredient - reasonably priced and mixed fresh to order. Will definitely be back and will recommend this great venue.

Fantastic venue. Decent staff, good beers selection, nice menu with fresh and tasty dinner with lovely views over the Thames and Blackfriars Bridge. I’ve walked past so many times over the years, yet never stepped in. I will certainly visit again in future!

Came here for a work party in one of this pubs many function rooms and was looked after by Toby, who provided excellent service throughout and strived to make our event run as smoothly as possible. Fantastic night overall

We made a reservation for the dining room on the second level. Less noisy than the below pub! Pies are excellent. Service can be long with only two employees when the room is full. Best to come early!

Unboxing on the south side of the river, really makes you remember what pubs used to be like! Quality service banter at the bar. Especially Alfie who made me wife laugh, something I haven’t been able to do in two years . Recommend to any tourists or family’s in the area

Poor meal. One had a piece of plastic in it and others were substandard. I have brought a number of groups to Doggetts several times a year for about 15 years but this was a very poor experience. My meal - fish pie - was so sloppy the fish (had there been much in there in the first place) might almost have been able to swim in it! Other meals were also substandard and left unfinished. Manager was unapologetic apart from not charging for the meal with the plastic in it and perilously close to being outright rude. We shall be going elsewhere in future.

Lovely food and atmosphere, huge servings and super tasty. Tas was great, super friendly and helpful. Definitely recommend!

Tas is a welcoming waiter who is efficient while smiling and caring. The food was delicious and so English. We had a great time!

We had our Christmas lunch followed by a team meeting at Doggett's this week and it was a disappointing experience. We waited for over an hour between starters and mains. 7 out of the 15 mains were cold – not lukewarm but cold, and there were items missing on several meals (e.g. the pigs in blanket were just sausages). Most concerningly, dietary restrictions, provided well in advance, were ignored for 4 dishes. It was a shockingly bad experience.

Absolutely lovely set Xmas Ddinner at the doggetts. The food was great. Lovely Steak and the profiterols were to die for , I would also like to thanks Jay our waiter who gave us great service with a really great attidute.

My husband and I stopped here with our dog - the dog was not allowed in the pub itself so we sat in the beer garden - it had good heaters so was fine. I got water for our dog's bowl from jugs on the bar and we had a bottle of red wine to share costing £25. The atmosphere in the pub seemed nice as I passed through and the garden was ok although a bit quieter due to it being quite cold. Overall we enjoyed our stop.

Popped in for a drink, maybe food! Went straight to the toilets and was very glad I had visited them first. Walked straight back out !!!!! Lucky escape!!

I don't normally post reviews, but as someone who is vegetarian, dairy and gluten free, I find it very hard to eat in pubs. The staff took care to accommodate me and I enjoyed a simple yet delicious lunch of egg, chips and bread. They were very courteous. Thank you.

Staying at the Mad Hatter Hotel and it was pouring so didn't want to walk far. I worked for Allied Breweries in the 1970s and remember when this opened as a flagship pub of ours. Decided to eat in restaurant and really enjoyed the food. I had a delicious lentil and veg Shepherd's pie with veg on side. Lovely hot food came with gravy. Husband had fishcakes and enjoyed them. Lovely waitress. Great views of Thamws and St Paul's.

Such a lovely Pub/Restaurant. Has 3 floors. Rooftop Bar and Terrace, Function Room and another bar and restaurant. The Manager is phenomenal, as are his staff. You are made so welcome and the food is superb. Met Chris, the Chef, a lovely man who certainly knows how to cook perfectly, you can taste every flavour and desserts are divine. Also Sebastian who waited on the table such a lovely man too. Fantastic Waiter. I thoroughly enjoyed my time here and will be going again. Thank you for a wonderful time at The Doggett's, Cost and Badger.

Had a lovely meal here on Sunday. We all had the roasts which were very tasty. The manager was very friendly and helpful as there were a couple of dietary requirements. When we first arrived our table wasn’t ready but straight away the manager said I’ll offer you all a drink on the house as way of apology. This was such a nice thing to do . Not many restaurants would do this . Would definitely return when we are in the area.

Nothing with ”Modern twist”, they just keep it simple, as a result, it was actually first time we ate excellent British food. Pie, fish&ships was very tasty, athmospere was great, service very good including wide range of ales

Ordered food and drinks after downloading their pub application on the phone, using QR code. When going into app, there is a list of pubs asking you too choose from. Accidentally, maybe actually a software fault, clicked on Blackfriars pub from the list, which appeared to be their sister pub across the river. Just opposite the place we were in. I was asked to pay again for the same order and advised to call the Blackfriars pub for the refund. Thats already a hassle, why they could not sort it between them? Called the pub across the river, another rude guy on the phone offering me to come and grab my drinks and food. Said he did not care much, as the order was placed and it was not his fault at all. The end of story : my bank is dealing with the dispute I raised. The pub did not refund anything, just charged my card. This is a chain of pubs they call Nicholsons Pubs. Just a tourist trap, no service, unhelpful staff, no manners, just robots. Stay away.

Went here for dinner today place lovely and clean which was a positive. Ordered two roast beef dinners at £17 each and a side of cauliflower cheese. I have to say this was the worst roast dinner I have ever had the misfortune to eat. 21 day aged roast beef tasted and looked like it has been roasting that long !! Dry and tough think my dog may have turned her nose up. Carrots so dried up and hard could've been used for a game of darts and as for the Yorkshire anyone for Frisby? Now for the spuds smothered with salt and pepper inedible. Any way asked for bill expecting the waiter to ask why food was not eaten ? not a bloody word any other establishment would have asked any way he took my card paid the bill and then had the cheek to add service charge of £4.92. Do yourselves a favour eat elsewhere and where the waiting staff have some manners and charisma and you get value for money and food you can eat.

Visited with some friends for a catch up and some lunch. The food was pub grub but honestly I thought the food was incredible!! Exceeded my expectations!! All very reasonable too. Will be back!

Really rude staff. did not give us a table as we had not booked and they were busy (understandable) but the door lady was rude and sarcastic. Would NEVER visit again. much nicer pubs along that river front section

Fantastic service, the app to order was really easy to use. The food arrived quickly and was delicious, my first meal out in a long time and it gave me allot of confidence. The burger was great, and the chips were really crispy.

Great staff, absolutely great service and an all round great atmosphere, really appreciate the time and being fort these guys out into serving us and making sure we had a great Sunday.

We walked in on a busy Sunday afternoon and the manager did not have to find us a table and he DID. Most places would have turned us away and he did his best to accommodate. Service was quick, food was fantastic and I could definitely see the general team work they have between the staff was really staring. I would definitely recommend and will be back as soon as I visit central London again. Big thank you to the manager (Jordan) for accommodating us and going out of his way to make our Sunday. Our first post-lockdown visit and we were very impressed. Excellent safety measures in place and the food was delicious.

I've been here a few times over the years but not since Covid hit. Came here with a friend for a socially-distanced catch up and a substantial meal!The staff were super friendly and helpful and the food was tasty and good value for money. It meant we could pretend things were normal for a couple of hours, whilst being safe and compliant with the rules. We'll definitely be back and I recommend it to anyone looking for a good place to go while we're still in Tier 2.

We visited London for a long weekend away and visited this pub on all the days we were there. Lovely views over the South Bank, loved watching the world go by and could have stayed all day. Table service was excellent, good choice of drink, all staff were excellent, very helpful, friendly and knowledgeable as to local places to visit etc. Ladies toilets were very clean, social distancing was organised very well, tables cleared and cleaned quickly and properly. Would highly recommended, you need to book at weekends as gets busy, great seating area on the riverside with table serviced. We didn't eat here but the food we saw being served looked very good and tasty, good prices and portions. We will certainly return again. A big thank you to all the staff that served us :-)

No viaje al gran humo a menudo tomamos nuestra 1 bebida en la calle aquí hace 10 años en luna de miel y volví con niños y ahora como pareja celebrando nuestro décimo aniversario. Pub limpio con excelentes políticas de covid en su lugar y esta vez tuvimos bocadillos en el bar mientras pasamos un par de horas viendo pasar el mundo, lo cual fue excelente y una gran adición a la cerveza. Me encanta estar sentado en el frente viendo el río y el mundo pasar. No tuvimos la suerte esta vez, pero nunca nos dimos cuenta de lo grande que era en la parte de atrás. No puedo esperar a mi próxima visita

Actualmente estamos ejecutando la aplicación Nicholsons y trabajando en el camino de la cerveza con los chicos. Entré en este edificio que parecía una fortaleza solo para encontrar un pub realmente alegre en el interior con un personal realmente amable.Me sentí realmente seguro con las regulaciones de Covid que se siguieron hasta el final.Gran selección de bebidas, incluidos rones y cervezas. Disfrute siempre de una buena cerveza pálida de Nicholsons. Es una buena parada en boxes a lo largo del río antes de dirigirnos al puente del milenio.

Agradable London Ale House en Blackfriars Bridge. Fuimos a tomar una copa antes de una reunión. Después del Covid 19 hubo distanciamiento y limpieza regular. Gran servicio del equipo, tuvimos la suerte de sentarnos en el jardín de cerveza bajo el sol y fue muy agradable y cálido. El pub tiene un baño para discapacitados dedicado que se agradeció. En general, un gran pub con bebidas a buen precio.

The best pub in London near Thames with a fantastic view!! Last time we visited, there wasn't any available table but Gizem, the most friendly staff I've ever seen, helped us as we were walk-in. Always wonderful experience to be at this place! Highly recommended!!

I've been there two times. Rib eye steak was really scrumptious!! If you visit this lovely pub, you should definitely have a chat with Gizem and understand the difference between Ale and Lager beers✌️ Thanks to her, amazing experience!

Food and drink was nice enough. They deserve 5 stars because staff member Jay was amazing and saved us from some uncomfortable interactions with some older men trying to hit on us. Thanks Jay! You were great!

Although I’m not a local, if ever I’m in London I would highly recommend Doggett’s Coat and Badge. It’s a must visit pub every time I’m in London. Friendly staff, great location looking across the Thames and an excellent choice of lagers available, somewhere I’ll always visit if I’m in the area. I always come away from the pub with a great sense of customer satisfaction.

Fab pub! Couldnt ask for more. I was on south bank today with my friend and began downpouring. We dint even have an umbrella. We were soaked but were greeted by a smiley host called mia who was so nice and took us to the pavilion outdoors put the heating for us to dry off. We stayed for a bit and had some great burgers since it’s eat out to help out and so glad we did. For pub food they were amazng!! So nice and definitely coming again after eat out to help (if covid let’s us lol) lovely staff lovely food. Had to say thank you

Called in for a late breakfast whilst walking along the river. Lovely sunny Sunday morning. We were greeted and shown to a table following all the new procedures and got a lovely table in the window. We ordered two breakfasts, tea and a Nicholsons Pale Ale as I had a £1 a pint voucher in the App! The food was really good and so was the ale. We sat for around a hour just chatting and taking in the views. Staff were really friendly and helpful. The bar on the inside is lovely! It has a secret little garden at the back which is nice too. We'll definitely be going back.

Very disappointed with this place. Visited on Sunday 16 August 2020. We were asked for payment BEFORE receipt of food. I queried this and was given mumbled excuse about Covid situation. Being a bit distracted about possible rain and looking at weather site with companion (we were outside but moved in) I paid even though NO paper bill was offered. (most certainly like others). A few minutes it later clicked on me bill was a bit high (drinks are expensive!) I asked the girl who brought out our food. She said she would check. Next the, very not reassuring duty manager arrives. After questioning her, she claim it was a mistake and we should have received bill first. As the conversation continued she did offer to refund the service charge, but made it sound like a real pain. I let it go. Later my nephew wanted another drink, I didn't. He approached the bar (there was NO table number for APP ordering etc), and was told he'd have to have drink brought over. A girl did and took payment. When he received change we realised the same glass of beer @ £6.82 (!) was about 62 pence more than cost with food earlier. Clearly yet again service charge was added without him being informed first or given the option of not paying. (we would have left decent tip!!). Our advice - AVOID. IMPORTANTLY there was no clear prompting to leave details for Covid track and trace - we actually forgot about doing that until we went to a Wetherspoons pub, where it was at the door they also had APP table ordering. We left the Doggett's Coat and Badge with a bad after taste. Our advice AVOID. We think it is policy and not a one off error to get peeps to pay without offering bill and then unaware innocent customers end up paying service charge by default and most ordinary peeps won't ask it back. The same then if you have further drinks. But also, £6.82 for beer! My orange juice (not fresh) was £2.90. One of the most expensive beer prices in London. Many places in London have stopped even adding service charge to try and encourage people back after Covid. But here is this company deliberately hiding it. Possibly ILLEGAL. AVOID or at very least make sure you receive and check bill before paying. AVOID .....please spread this review anywhere you think relevant, as I'm not good with all this social media don't want other people especially visitors to London being caught by this "scam". Organisations like this operate on basis experience isn't shared. Thanks and AVOID!

Stopped here as most other bars/restaurants along the Thames and we were hungry and they had a table. We were seated upstairs in the dining room which is outdated in a 1970s sort of style... Anyway I had pate starter and brownie desert which were lovely. The main course let it down though. I ordered toad in the hole. It came out cold and actually was just sausages in a giant Yorkshire pudding. I was asked if I wanted another or something else. I chose something else which was hunters chicken which was better but nothing special. There was a good selection of gin which was nice. A bit overpriced but guess that comes with the location. There was also a group that had hired out an area and they were quite noisy. Overall I wouldn’t choose to come here again but if I were passing by might stop off for a drink.

Absolutely shocking service, asked to sit in the garden and arrived at the same time as a number of other visitors. After 20 minutes I and my guest were still waiting to place an order ( table service only at the moment) during this time those other guests had drinks and FOOD provided. By the time we asked what we’d like I asked why the delay, provided some excuse by the guy about the fact he didn’t know when people were seated and in what order? Here’s a hint, if a couple are sat at an empty table perhaps head to them? I live local but will never bother visiting again!

The view from the restaurant at the river is the only reason to visit this place. They only have a small selection of (canned) beers and the food is not very tasty. The restaurant was almost empty when we arrived and it seems the pub in the basement is more popular.

We stayed at Seacontainers next door and like this pub so much we ate there twice. Great menu with several fish offerings, and lovely vegetables, salads.

A large group of us decided to visit pubs along the river on Saturday. This was the best of the pubs we visited. Great service from the team, and also the cheapest drink prices (still fairly expensive, but nothing like the other pubs). We will definitely be back in the summer so we can enjoy one of the beer gardens.

Can’t give much feedback as only stopped for one drink, but was pleasant enough. Nice staff and clean toilets and glasses is good. Although February we sat outside by the river because it was sunny and wanted to make the most of a day off outside haha! Had one glass of wine and one cider and came to £12 odd so London prices obviously, but better than some places in the capital.

Un edificio particularmente feo en la orilla sur del Támesis, este es un gran pub de Nicholson de dos niveles que probablemente no atraerá a nadie por su atractivo estético, pero solo estábamos buscando algo de sustento después de completar la cercana cerveza Bermondsey. Mile, y al menos se puede confiar en esta cadena para proporcionar algo medio decente y nutritivo. Por dentro es bastante agradable, con pisos de listones de madera y excelentes vistas del cercano Puente de Blackfriar.

It was quite by accident that I discovered this place when visiting the South Bank with a friend recently. We had actually booked at the nearby Oxo Tower (sorry!) so didn't stop for anything to eat. But we did have time to kill, and a couple of drinks at this pleasant riverside location was just the ticket. It's an interesting building, set over 4 floors, with multiple entrances and great views over Southwark Bridge and the Thames, located as it is directly opposite Victoria Embankment. I imagine the riverside terrace is popular in summer. However, on this chilly Saturday evening we sat inside. Service was very slick and ultra polite and friendly. The place was busy, but not overcrowded, so even a place to sit was not an issue. There is a bar menu if you want to eat downstairs and a dedicated dining area upstairs. It appears to be mostly seafood such as fish pie, fish & chips, grilled fish, etc. although there are plenty of other options, pies, grills, pasta, and so on, so something for everybody. I would definitely try the food next time. Contrary to many of the comments here, for a central London location, I actually thought the prices were very reasonable. Surely worth a try, if not for the view alone.

Today I ordered a fish pie. The pie came fairly quickly and I decided to play a game ‘ spot the fish ‘ After 3 minutes I gave up and ate the mash and sauce !

We love Doggets for their breakfasts, always well presented and very tasty. We tend to stay all over London, but no matter where we are, make sure we get at least one brekkie here (currently staying in Kensington)

Organised a christmas party for 70 people here. Was a fantastic event. The staff were amazing and Alica was amazing at organising everything. The food was lovely and there was plenty of it. The food was relatively cheap for London as well. The only downside would be that the drinks were quite expensive, normal for London.

On our way back to apartment after a long day walking, everyone tired and hungry.

We went here for dinner following a trip to the London Dungeon. We sat upstairs and it wasn’t too crowded.

After being let down at the very last minute for our annual AGM Doggetts fitted us in and saved the day ! The location is spectacular with amazing views from the Thomas Doggett Bar and seconds from Blackfriars station and with members arriving from all over the country it couldn't be a better location.

This busy pub has fantastic evening views of the River Thames. And it did more than amazingly well for my huge party of 57 people. The space allocated to us on the 2nd floor was just beautifully decorated for Christmas. It allowed us to have our dinner without disrupting the other patrons, which was perfect. The speed and efficiency at which our meals were served to us has to be commended. Michal Baczyk, Justyna Zachajewicz and their team did great by our huge party. It made our pub dining experience in London pleasantly unforgettable. Thank you Doggetts Coat and Badge, you were amazing.

Party of 9 came along every meal was tasty touch on the expensive side but well cooked served quickly and good quality. I had the chicken burger was good!

I had a leaving do here a few weeks back and it was a great choice - lots of space for groups, a nice outdoor area that's heated and good food and drink! The staff were also really friendly and helpful when I was booking it. Definitely recommend, good views of the river too

Sunday 10th, we wandered down enjoying the street entertainment and stall along the South Bank until we reached Doggarts. Great place steeped in history with spectacular views over the Thames.

They’ve got Paulaner beer, which i loved, cuz it’s one of my favorites. The starters: i tried nachos and guac which i also loved. The view is amazing.

We called in for a drink to shelter from the rain and to catch up. The ambience was great, staff couldn’t have been more welcoming and the mulled wine was fabulous.

Arrivés par hasard dans ce restaurant, nous n’avons pas regretté notre halte à l’heure du dîner. Pies, poissons et desserts étaient très bons.

Piatti tipici di ottima fattura, buona la scelta delle birre, la vista che si gode dalle ampie vatrate è splendida. Ci ha servito Sebastian ed è stato gentilissimo e professionale, assistendoci al meglio neĺla scelta dei piatti e delle birre. Prezzi in linea con altri locali simili, ma con il plus della vista sul Tamigi e la City.

I enjoy the bar because of its location on my most recent visit we were sat next to a table of Americans the staff could do no more for them whilst me and my dad struggled to get service (and it wasn’t busy) we had to keep getting up to go to the bar to order drinks food and to pay this is poor service and we would of left a tip if it was deserved but it felt the they were going for good with the American customer and there tipping culture.

We hosted the launch party for The Cultural Me on the terrace at Doggett's Coat and Badge. We were absolutely delighted by the quality of the venue. The room was quite tastefull laid out. The view is amazing. The food was very good; very surprised by the quality of the food as we were fairly standard pub grub, but the standard was definitely above average.

This pub was about 100M from our flat during our recent month-long stay in London so we really wanted it to be good. It was crowded so many others must have been happy but the food was poorly prepared and presented and, despite the wonderful view, we could not enjoy dinner as we could not converse over the noisy ambiance. Too much noise does not worry everyone but poor food too??

We were lucky to get a table on a Saturday evening without a booking. Only had to wait 5 mins for them to prepare the table. Staff were very attentive and friendly. Food was traditional British pub food and very good quality. Amazing view of the Thames and great atmosphere, both in the pub downstairs and restaurant upstairs. Would highly recommend a visit.

I live and work locally so I do come here regularly for both food and drinks - personally and professionally, you are always made very welcome by all members of staff from bar staff Gizam I think that’s her name to management Mike who I spoke to regarding booking Christmas drinks for my staff.

Downstairs is a traditional pub. On first floor there is a dining room with table service and river views. Menu includes fish dishes and vegan options.

Pub on the south back of the Thames, several bars, good choice of drinks and pub grub. Went for the Fish and chips which was good, washed down with a couple of drinks. Friendly staff, quick service, good all round.

Best bar by far! Wednesday night drinks wouldn’t be the same without the service and atmosphere of Doggetts. Love this place of an evening! Wouldn’t drink anywhere else! Best booze around:

Quality pint on river front and the staff are very quick and friendly and the food is off the chart its absolutely amazing

Staff were brilliant even though they were busy.. i ordered fish pie and side of fries and it came quick. The only negative thing is the fries were cold

Lovely pub with great seating indoors and outside, friendly and knowledgable staff. Asked to test some beer and Eastern European manager was more than happy to walk us through their collection. Highly recommend visiting and getting a taste of proper pub life!

We visited the restaurant at Lunchtime on a weekday. We were made very welcome, the service was excellent and the food really good as always.
