A typical English pub, welcoming and smiling staff, service at the bar for drinks and at the table for food. Very good beers 🍻

A cozy little bar just outside the London Bridge Station strategically located to grab a couple of drinks before heading back home after work!

I didn’t sit inside to have a meal or drink, so I can’t evaluate some of its criteria, sorry. However, I really liked the structure and building. It adds color and vibrancy to the square.🏫a

Came across this place as I was walking from the tube to my hotel and decided to pop in. With it being like 20 minutes to closing the guys behind the bar were still willing to serve me and were not hesitant, great service and nice chat.

Staff is extremely rude including the security who seems they are always ready to fight, seems they only care about serving the locals. The pub smells bad and the atmosphere feels like you could get beaten up at anytime

Popped in on a very cold evening to grab a drink with a group of 5 and although the staff were friendly and polite and it was pretty good value, it was super busy with kids running around, very very loud music and pretty overwhelming. Not a relaxing chilled drink at all 😅 But we got a table straight away and drink service was quick. Didn’t try food. Would recommend if you are waiting for a train or need to warm up, or use the loo but deffs better atmosphere and vibes at other pubs nearby.

Lovely pub in a busy area, the staff seemed friendly enough. The place was very busy, but 3 friendly guys allowed us to share their table. I'd definitely recommend a visit if you're in the area

A decent pub next to London bridge station. So expect to pay London prices.. Handy for an after work drink.

Good selection of beer and bitter

Place was busy but we were there during rush hour so fair play. Good selection of beers and drinks. Bartenders were really nice. Had Aiden as a bartender a few times and he was really lovely, helpful, and quick.

They play Cruzcampo cool ;) the only one we have found in London that has it as a shooter!

Pleasant pub just outside London Bridge Station. Wide range of draught ales and lagers. Limited but sufficient bar menu.

I ordered a breakfast menu; it was tasty, but under the piece of bacon, there was a strand of hair, as seen in the picture! The staff were polite, but they said they couldn’t do anything to fix the issue!

O.m.g. so glad we are back in Wanstead. Had a fantastic lunch in Browns. Heading back to the station decided to have a parting drink before going out separate ways. Refused entry into this pub for no apparent reason. This establishment must be doing so well to turn away good money. Need to get your act together because your attitude to the over sixty 's woman of London stinks!

Seemed a nice atmosphere, but reception at the bar was just very odd, almost rude aggressive drunk.. and so we left. Security chaps were nice though, and seemed embarrassed for the drunk lady at the bar.

AVOID THIS PLACE!!! This is the Formal Complaint Regarding Discriminatory and Unsafe Treatment at the Shipwrights Arms pub! I am writing to formally express my profound disappointment and concern regarding a recent experience at your establishment, which occurred on the 10th of November 2024. As someone who suffers from Type 1 diabetes, I was not only shocked by the treatment I received but also deeply concerned for the safety and well-being of other patrons, particularly those with health conditions that might require urgent assistance. During my visit, I suffered a critical drop in blood sugar. My friend immediately provided me with a sandwich to stabilize my condition, as I was feeling increasingly unwell and weak. While I began to consume the food, the pub’s owner approached me in an extremely abrupt and rude manner, demanding that I stop eating and insisting that I leave the premises immediately, despite my visible distress and difficulty standing. I tried to explain that I was in urgent need of assistance and was unable to leave, but the owner’s response was dismissive and unkind. Before I could fully respond, I lost consciousness and collapsed, hitting my head on the radiator. I later learned that I was not breathing and that my friend had to perform CPR to revive me while waiting for paramedics to arrive. I am incredibly grateful to my friend and the emergency responders, as their quick actions may have saved my life. I am filing this complaint for several reasons: 1. Inappropriate and Dangerous Treatment of Customers with Medical Conditions: The owner’s response to a medical emergency was dismissive, even hostile, resulting in unnecessary injury and trauma. This shows a severe lack of empathy, understanding, and basic training in handling such situations. 2. Unsafe Environment for Patrons with Health Conditions: By refusing me the means to manage my medical emergency and attempting to eject me, the staff created a highly unsafe environment. This is particularly troubling as it raises concerns for others with health needs who might also face discriminatory treatment at your establishment. 3. Need for Staff Training on Medical Emergencies: The experience highlights an urgent need for staff training on handling medical emergencies and interacting respectfully and compassionately with patrons, especially those with visible or invisible health conditions. This experience has left me deeply shaken, and I feel compelled to share my story as a cautionary tale to others who, like myself, may have health conditions that could require understanding and assistance. I hope this letter serves as a call to action for your establishment to implement necessary changes to prevent future incidents of this nature. I trust that you will take this complaint seriously and implement improvements to make your establishment a safe and welcoming space for all patrons. Sincerely.

Regarded by many as ‘a proper old boozer’. It’s certainly not trying too hard. Has seen better days having not been refurbished for years. Landlady is very old skool, not there to make friends she doesn’t need. This place is an experience I suppose but it’s not overly cheap given location. You might use it if waiting for a train but there are better options in the area.

Great building, great photo opportunity

A real British pub that not only invites you from the outside, but also has a typical English beer atmosphere inside. This is where you meet - to drink beer! If you like English pubs, you should stop here. You can get beer at the bar if you have chosen one of the 10 on tap. I felt comfortable here, great pub!

Lovely pub. Toilets downstairs which for those who struggle should be aware of.

Rude door staff, who automatically assumes that a bald middle age man is a far right drunk lout. Made to walk a straight line to prove I was sober enough to enter, then refused anyway. Avoid this place so many better places with nice staff nearby.

Walked in for a little light beer around 6 p.m. Everything relaxed, everything easy. Made a nice acquaintance with Jo...a perfect location to pass the time. 1 beer could become more. Thumbs up! Always happy again.

Fabulous old school London pub just outside London bridge Station, just the kind of warm welcome London gives you when you've missed your train... Great selection of beers & quality gins to enjoy whatever the weather. Great panoramic view of a busy location, perfect for people watching. Highly Recomended

Worst meal in five weeks of travelling Greater Europe.- by far. We waited an hour for our meals, our chips were cold, my lettuce was old and browning with no dressing I tried the fish finger sandwich - it was in fresh bread not toasted, at least the bread was fresh. My wife had chicken caesar salad it was bland.. old lettuce, a bit of chicken, a few croutons and nothing else

Great characterful pub. Doesn't feel like all the other same old chains. Lovely outdoor for people watching

The complete antithesis of a welcoming environment. The bar staff were refusing to serve paying customers for the horrendous crime of singing football songs. A friendly and jovial atmosphere completely ruined by bar staff that are in desperate need of a crash course in customer service skills. Avoid this place like the plague.

No acknowledgment while 2 bartender was on phone even after looking at me 3 times in 5 minutes. Drink was extremely different than they had advertised all over bar which is why I choose it (half size glass and no fresh fruit).

Love this pub! Always a great after work drink! Good price and friendly and welcoming staff and atmosphere. The pub is right next to London Bridge train station which is notorious for delayed trains to Brighton so always a good shout for a delayed train quick drink. Today there was an incident with a drunk individual, who was causing issues and refused to leave, the bouncers handled the situation so well. I have never seen a situation diffused so well and so calmly. Amazing work from the staff for acting so professionally in such a difficult situation. Even more amazing no atmosphere was lost in the ruckus!

Queued for a short while. People got served ahead of me. Person behind bar was chatting to staff so went over to ask for drinks. Rudely got told there was a queue, despite no obvious queue and people all around the bar being served. I asked where the queue started, was told to stand behind someone who already had been served and perched at the bar. Had enough by that point so left. Could have been easily resolved had the person been a little less rude. Unfriendly and unapproachable. Reading other reviews, I'm clearly not the only one. It's obvious one member of staff is incredibly rude to a lot of people for no reason.

If your having an amazing night, this is definitely a great choice to ruin it. Life needs a bit of light and shade

refused free tap water (illegal through the licensing act of 2003) so bought a bottle for £2, other friends brought some beers and were refused entry to the restrooms as they were ‘not customers’. Will not be coming back or recommending.

So glad this old pub survived the London Bridge urban regeneration a few years back. It’s got character, it’s ideally located right outside the train station for a cheeky pint or four before the train home after work, and it was the first pub in the area to open after Covid lockdown and I will forever be grateful for that!

Personal extremadamente grosero, evita. Estaba de visita con unos cuantos compañeros, fui al bar solo y llevaba 3 pintas. En el camino de regreso afuera, puse las bebidas en una mesa vacía para ajustarlas antes de retomarlas. Me encontré inmediatamente con un miembro del personal muy agresivo que me dijo que me moviera, esa es la mesa del personal. ¿No sabes leer? Señaló hacia una nota sobre la mesa escrita con tiza que había sido frotada, completamente ilegible. No había necesidad de que se le hablara de una manera tan grosera cuando ella fácilmente pudo haber cronometrado que yo tenía vasos de plástico y se dirigía afuera de todos modos. Mantuve un ojo en la mesa y nadie se sentó allí durante toda la duración de mi visita, lo que fue aún más exasperante. Yo sugeriría que el miembro del personal (la señora mayor) obtiene algunos modales y comienza a tratar a los clientes que pagan con un poco de respeto. Iremos a algunos otros (mucho mejor) pubs cercanos la próxima vez.

Fabulous welcome from a female member of staff, fish & chips arrived in quick time and very enjoyable. Recommend a visit to this busy pub.

Stop ripping people off. Ordered an Aperols sprits. 25ml Aperols and 50ml prosecco. This is not the correct serve. You are clearly trying to fudge your stocks and rip off tourists. Do Campari/Aperols know you are serving it like this.

Terrible service. Security guys won’t let you go to the toilet without proof of your drink or food you bought.

One of the dingiest most unfriendly pubs in London. Avoid like plague. Incredibly rude staff, almost to point of offensive. Plenty of much better options around. Place absolutely stinks also - in desperate need of a facelift/makeover. And some Customer service training wouldn’t go amiss either. Overpriced. Vile.

The Shipwrights arms is genuinely one of the most welcoming pubs in Central London. If you find yourself stuck waiting for a train I strongly recommend popping in. The security team have some of the best customer service around. They have a great ability to put you at ease, as apposed to other venues where intimidation seems to be the goal. The bar staff also deserve a massive shout out as not only are they some of the most officiant bar staff in town, but also very friendly and Logan my Bartender remembered my drinks order from the last time I visited. The whole Bar team deserves a massive shout out. I couldn't recommend grabbing a drink here more highly. Check it out, you won't regret it.

The Wooly used to be my local when I worked in Bermondsey 2004-6. It was cool back then now it's beyond popular. I was on a day off work and I explored Dalston and Shoreditch High St but the pints in The Wooly were the most expensive by a mile. I still loved the vibe though! My pint of craft beer cost £7.75 but I loved the trip down memory lane. Sadly my fellow drinkers were either still in primary school or not even born when I was a Wooly regular. I hope they enjoy it as much as I did...

Everything you hear about security is true. Explained that my friend needed to use the bathroom and the guy was so aggressive. Go and give your hard earned cash to a pub that doesn’t condone threatening members of the public.

Pub smells Julie the owner Julie is moody and kicks people out for nothing I've watched her refuse to serve people who have just walked in sober as a judge and because she in a mood tells them get out .make it make sense ...im a british pub goer and I'm telling you this pub sells fake booze I know people who have worked there and they told me she goes to lidl buys cheap vodka and puts it in the smirnoff big bootle at the bar ..I would not drink in this pub if you paid me

Very popular place, sometimes have performers in the street outside (unrelated to the pub I think) but can grab a pint and stand outside and watch. The area to the side is pedestrian so plenty of safe outside space either way

Upon entry, one Friday evening I really needed to use the restroom (was that time of the month) I was denied entry by a security man, his exact words were “The bar is over there” and pointed to the bar. I then said I just want to use the restroom, he said no. Even though a previous time someone I know was allowed to do so.

The most unfriendly and disrespectful staff I have ever seen in London. Especially the manager/owner who was extremely rude. Terrible place.

I walked in last night with an exceptionally sore throat asking for a glass of tap water (under which they have a legal obligation: "must ensure that free potable water is provided on request to customers where it is reasonably available").

Terrible place. My partner tried to go to the facilities while i was at the bar to be met with a member of ‘staff’ accosting her about needing to have to buy a drink before she used the bathroom, Refused her access to the bathroom. If I was aware of this when I paid I wouldn’t have had bothered paying my money to this bunch of cowboys. Beer was as flat as Holland as well. Educate your staff on how people tend to attend bars, clean your lines and operate a proper pub.

Arranged to meet brother who flew in from the US earlier to watch euros match on TV before dinner. Says 2 large screens for sports but not showing the Euros. Disappointed with the false advertising

Bar staff - who I was told was the manager extremely rude, first time visiting the pub and told only serving this side when I was stood next to the person she was serving before anyone else was there. Told sorry only serve from this side, no signs and I was clearly there. Just unbelievable rude, no customer service at all would not recommend if you want to be looked after!!

The manager was so rude . I understand that there might be people people walking in to just to use the toilet but we were there since an hour and she stopped us so rudely and said we couldn’t use the toilet and when I told her we were customers she said she was going to chuck us out . Very very rude. I think there was a nicer way to deal with the situation . Also , they were literally washing up the already used plastic cups and serving us drinks in there . 0 stars for service .
