Dog and Duck in South Cambridgeshire

Just been for lunch. Fantastic food,excellent service, a really good experience. The staff work to a high standard and the background atmosphere is warm and welcoming.

Lovely location and a really nice atmosphere along with excellent food. However, as there are no real soft furnishings to absorb sound, it was a little difficult to hold a conversation. That's acceptable in a place like this. But, when a jazz trio (electric piano, saxophone and double bass) started playing and singing, it was impossible to converse. It really spoilt an otherwise enjoyable afternoon. Not necessary for a family Sunday lunch. Very disappointed.

I last visited the Dog and Duck 2 years ago and nothing has changed, it's still a fantastic pub with brilliant staff and excellent food. I shared a chateaubriand with my wife and it was exceptional. I cannot recommend this pub highly enough.

I think I may been in here before, over twenty years ago, but I think it may have changed hands. I was really pleased with my fish & chips and pint of Dog & Duck Greene King beer. Nice village pub.

We've done 100's of circular walks within 50 miles of Ely, starting from a pub and finishing with lunch, and every now and then, we come across a pub that makes you think you could live in this village! What an excellent pub, combining really good food, beers, restaurant, but without losing that "local pub" feeling. Really attentive staff, all really well known to their regulars.

We'd booked for 5 but due to illness were just 2 - and we arrived late, but telephoned. The staff were most generous and sorted out the changes. The Sunday lunch was delicious; grilled goats cheese followed by a turkey dinner and fabulous puddings. Everything was spot on, served by pleasant and professional staff. A definite "must-go-to" when in the area.

Absolutely amazing. The food, the service, the presentation excellent. The roast lunch was beautifully cooked, professionally presented and served by well trained staff. All credit to chef and staff at restaurant….. how lucky are the residents of Linton to have such high quality food and service provided locally in their village. .

The Dog and Duck was a wonderful find on a recent visit to Linton. It is a wonderful pub/restaurant, an ancient building with an open fire. The food was exceptional, I had the best Sea Bream that I’ve ever tasted! The real ales were great and good selection was available. Staff were friendly and helpful.

Had a brilliant Sunday lunch in this charming pub. The food was delicious, especially the roasts of which there were several to choose from. Great vegetables and yorkshire. The staff were friendly and attentive.

We went here to celebrate a family birthday and were very well looked after. The food was generously portioned and excellent. The service was very attentive without being invasive taking our boisterous group in their stride. The menu offered something for everyone, I very much enjoyed my ribeye steak.

We were a group of 10 family members celebrating an 85th birthday on a Saturday lunchtime. We received a warm welcome and had a table in a room almost to ourselves which was lovely as we could chat and laugh without disturbing anyone. The menu was varied and most of us chose the Catalan fish stew and the crab linguine and they didn't disapoint- so flavoursome and plenty of it 😋 the dessert was equally good. The service was excellent and friendly and we will definitely try and return even though we live a couple of hours away.

Goodness. Wonderful experience from start to finish. I arrived at around 8pm Saturday evening and the place was busy and staff working hard. I found a table and a young lady brought me a beer and a menu. I chose the Camembert to share as I was curious. It arrived with bread and salad and the cheese was hot!! A challenge to eat but VERY tasty indeed!! Thanks to all, super place beer and food!!

Nice enough meal but a couple of things spoilt it for us and whilst they dealt with one it led to us leaving prematurely. It was an early booking but at the last minute.

Visiting our granddaughter who is studying at Cambridge university, it was important to find a special place to eat particularly as Eric and Florence, our two greyhounds came along for the visit. The staff could not have been more accommodating, providing us with a suitable table and a friendly welcome. The food was excellent, the service was very good set within a friendly village atmosphere. Can’t recommend it highly enough.

We really enjoyed our evening at the Dog and Duck. It was bustling with a great atmosphere. The staff were all really friendly and made us feel very welcome. The menu had a good selection and we could have chosen everything! We started with broccoli, courgette and Stilton soup as it was a really cold night. This was delicious. We followed up with Chicken Parmigiana and wild mushroom pasta wit( truffle. Both dishes were well prepared and presented and we left feeling very happy. A lovely pub in a very attractive position. Definitely recommended.

Called in mid morning accommodated straight away in the dining area very cosy. Service by Charles was excellent tended to our needs. Granddaughter says best breakfast ever. Good value for money. Will call again.

This delightful thatched pub has a relaxed and private rear garden-a great spot to sip cider whilst soaking up the sun. We were very impressed with their Covid protocols, including use of a business WhatsApp account which made ordering super-easy.

They have sacrificed the car park, so find a place around the area, if you can. There is a well-organized system to keep you safe, including a big, attractive open-sided marquee where the car park used to be. The food remains competent and the service efficient and safe-feeling. They have also opened a veg and meat sales service, which is quite entrepreneurial. Have been calling here for years and it remains pretty good.

Outside seating, COVID 19 safe with a one way system, easy ordering service, amazingly tasty food, brilliant service. 100% would recommend. Ended up enjoying the ambience for 6 hours. Will definitely be back

Attractive busy pub which takes its food very seriously. Excellent range of dishes. Good beer - the local craft lager went down well, as did the Collins gin cocktail. Friendly and efficient service. Dogs are welcome indoors, which enhances the atmosphere.

The Dog & Duck is a busy village pub, it's nice to see a pub full of local people. The food and service are excellent, much better than basic pub food though not in the White Brasserie league, then neither are the prices. There are beams whichever way you turn and a lovely roaring fire to welcome you in.The Brewdog pale ale was great - but I was shocked to see it was almost £6 a pint when the bill came.This is a small menu with some good signature dishes. The hake sounds superb but had sold out by the time we arrived just before 2pm.My haddock and chips was very good. The batter was a bit too thick for my liking but the fish was good quality. And my wife's burger was very good too.This is a really good country pub with a great menu and a lovely setting.

4th time visiting The Dog & Duck in 3 months, consistently brilliant food, it’s so nice to find a pub which actually serves real food. I had the sea bream which was full of flavour, well cooked and fresh. My grandmother thoroughly enjoyed here chicken and mushroom pie (which was big enough to feed a family of 4) and my girlfriend very much enjoyed the halloumi flatbread. It’s also so nice for my other half to find vegetarian options (yes more than one) that isn’t a bland risotto or a dull salad. The staff are always so helpful and look after us so well without being over the top. Keep it up Dog & Duck and we’ll be back soon!

We really enjoyed our Roast Dinner, the service was very good and the waitresses were so friendly nothing was to much trouble for them. It was nice that we were not rushed to vacate our table, will certainly will come again. Atmosphere friendly and relaxed

My wife and I had Sunday lunch here. First class food, great service but very expensive. £17.50 for 2 glasses of wine is outrageous! Also £7 for a dessert for a very small portion.

Four of us set out to the restaurant, two of us never having been there before. It was busy, welcoming, efficient, and their wine was reasonably priced. As a vegetarian, I am always interested in finding some that is not macaroni or risotto. They duly obliged. A vegetable curry, or flatbread and haloumi. I had the flatbread. It was unusual and welcome. Overall, we liked the restaurant. The only tiny issue we had was that the staff were slightly over attentive. That is a small price to pay for a good evening out. Looking forward to going back, even if it is 400 miles from home.

Called in for a meal when we were staying at the nearby Travel Lodge and needed somewhere to eat! So glad we came across The Dog and Duck! A lovely old feel to the pub inside with beams and fireplace. Very welcoming and friendly staff team. The food was delicious. Good to see some different options on the menu. Visited here for Sunday lunch. Warm welcome and pub is in a beautiful village setting. We did not venture into the pub garden as it was a really hot day, but the garden looked lovely. Food was delicious! Roast pork was superb as were all the other dishes my party had. Nothing was too much trouble and the staff certainly knew the dishes well!

This isn't the closest pub to where we were staying but the outdoor seating really won us over, it overlooks a little river and has been recently re-done. It was busy as it was a lovely evening and we really enjoyed having a few drinks there.

We had gone to view houses in the village. Hot day so needed to be fed and watered. Almost past last lunch orders but staff were very obliging and did it all with a smile.

My son, James, and I are frequent visitors to the Dog and Duck but this was the first time we had eaten in one of the delightful ‘beach huts’ that have been created in the garden. They are very reminiscent of the beach huts at Southwold and on a day like today which was baking hot, they offered a very welcome respite from the sun in very comfortable surroundings. Add to this the super food - a great and varied choice - coupled with the usual excellent service, and a very good lunch became a memorable one. Highly recommended.

We took some friends who we were visiting for lunch here and had an excellent meal in a very pleasant setting in the garden next to a stream, Service was excellent and food very good. We would particularly recommend the samosa and hummus that the two dishes the we shared between the 4 of us for a light starter.the salads and the fish of the day were good and the gyros were very tasty. very recommended

Really friendly staff and great food. Every time we go to this pub we are not disappointed, the food is really good quality and good portion sizes. Nothing seems to be any trouble and the staff are so friendly and attentive. We sat in one of the garden beach huts with friends and had a fabulous afternoon and evening.

Made our second visit with friends today for Sunday lunch at the Dog and Duck. As on our first visit the lunch was excellent, lovely pub, brilliant staff, and great food, what more can you ask. My partner recently retired from having her own pub and restaurant for 10yrs, her Sunday lunches had a great reputation , but she's said the Dog and Ducks Sunday lunch is equal to hers. Praise indeed. We will be back. !!!

What a fantastic pub. Wonderful beer, amazing food (better than most venues in Cambridge city) and every time I go we have a wonderful time. I went here with work colleagues for our Christmas lunch and the food was really good. One of the best places we have visited in the areas. All the food we had ordered from the Christmas menu was really tasty and the staff were really friendly and attentive.

Went to the dog and duck at 2.20pm on the 13 04 19 had a tbone steak my wife had venison sausages and mash and kale and gravey and my to freinds had a tbone and a sea bass all the food we had was absolutely delightfull and after we had two apple crumbles and bonoffee pie and sticky toffee pudding and it was spot on the service was great lovely staff and we had lots of drinks total bill £151.00 i think the lovely food the great staff and the great service is top notch will always go back 6 times we have been their this is a company that looks after its customers and what more can we say but many thanks great place and in my mind 5star keep up the great work xxx

Visited on a Monday early evening when many restaurants are closed. Expecting it to be quiet at 6.00 pm we were amazed at the buzz and ambience at that time of the day. We were luck to be accommodated as w3 had not booked but the staff were very attentive and the food was e cellent and at a reasonable price. Plenty of choice, nice bottle of wine and my friends said good beer also. Wou,d certainly recommend, we were tired having travelled and played golf and a great place to unwind. In the book for future visits.

Ten of were here for an evening meal... wow what a gem of a place.. parking, smoking area under cover.. I think there is a beer garden as well.. place is clean and warm, staff very friendly and welcoming, a bit of banter through out the time we were there, all enjoyed there meals.. mussels really nice with chips, fish and chips very tasty, home made burgers really tasty.. the only criticism was the bacon was a bit overcooked, really nice desserts, you were not hurried out either our table was ours for the whole time we were there, the staff checked to make sure all ok, great night had by all.
