Cafe is not as good as it used to be. They have made the menu a lot smaller. Service from the staff is great apart from the what looks to be the owner, who seems very miserable and not very welcoming. Sausages have changed and are not nice and I could see others in the cafe leaving there’s as I did mine. Poached eggs perfectly cooked however clearly lots of vinegar in the water and was not drained before putting onto toast, toast was sopping wet and tasted like vinegar.

Writing this review as having eaten in the ‘’Mariner’s cafe’’ which I believe to be the same business. Called in a busy bank holiday weekend, our order was taken by a friendly server who knew the menu, made suggestions and recommendations. We expected to wait a little while as food was cooked fresh to order. We ordered fish and chips, fish finger sandwich and ham, egg and chips. All meals were very hot! Super tasty, especially the homemade tartare sauce. Good portions, great price. Didn’t feel like we had been robbed! All the drinks and their glasses are kept in the fridge which is a great idea! Nice cold glasses for the drinks! Would DEFINATELY visit again.

Stopped here for a couple of bacon rolls whilst waiting for a boat trip. There are long benches outside or plenty of seating inside through the open frontage. You can see It's popular with locals, workers and tourists alike. The full English breakfasts which were coming out looked great but we just wanted a snack. Large bacon rolls, decent tea, bottles of sauces on the tables rather than those horrible sachets and very friendly, grateful for your visit service. Would definitely visit again.

We sat inside which was quite empty, outside tables half full. BUT still we waited 45 - 50 minutes for our breakfast - it seems whoever sits outside gets served first and we got shunted further down the order queue ! Bacon overdone and latte awful. Both were delicious and amazing value for money. Also had 2 cans of ice-cold Diet Coke, served with proper Coke glasses! I told the waitress that the food was better than Michael Caines! And I meant it! All the staff are so friendly, service with a smile - They deserve to do well in these difficult times. Keep up the good work, we will be back very soon! Helen and Jon x

On Sunday my wife and another couple visited for breakfast before a day out on Dartmoor. Unfortunately it was not a good visit. As my wife was queuing to order one of the staff brought two coffees to our table. I called her back as we hadn't actually ordered at that point. The next visit from a staff member to our table (6) delivered breakfasts.....for table 7! When we said that our table was 6 the staff member retrieved the food and went outside to ask if that table was number7. They then came inside with said breakfasts and went to table 7 (the number on the table was the clue)!Another staff member went to 7 with a burger, placed it down then went outside with a bowl of chips. The person at 7 then asked where the chips that come with her burger had gone! The staff member went back out and retrieved the chips. Our coffees arrived, but no sugar. We asked for sugar so the staff went and got a bowl. Unfortunately they didnt bring spoons so we had to ask for some. A singular spoon was bought to our table. Our breakfasts arrived but not all with the toast that should have accompanied them. At this point we decided NOT to ask for the toast and shared what we had....as we watched more orders being messed up. It was like being on the set of a carry on film, but was not funnyWe visit regularly but this will probably be our last, as it was just a shambles from start to finish....

We walked in here randomly as we missed our hotel breakfast. It’s really your typical English breakfast place but the food was really cheap and the service friendly. Most often when you order a meal with toast you don’t get it whilst it’s hot but we had fresh hot toast, bacon and eggs, was perfect rest stop out of the wind and rain. My only negative is that it’s cash only, but that seemed to be the case for most places we visited in Exmouth. It’s also dog friendly, we don’t have a dog but thought it worth mentioning

Visited this morning with a friend. Breakfast was ok egg very greasy but for the money was what I was expecting. 3 customers came in what I could make out maybe husband and wife and a friend anyway one of them took a picture of a canvas that was upon the wall and sat back down to wait for their hot drinks they ordered. With that a lady came out and said rather loudly with a lot of distance between her and the customer ‘excuse me you have just taken a picture these are my pictures I have collected over the years and it would of been courteous for you to ask to take a picture don’t do that again’ by all mean it would have been courteous for him to ask but as for the manners of the lady it would of also been most respectable for her to have a polite chat quietly with the customer rather than shout it across the cafe. EVERY customer heard her and it made everyone feel uncomfortable. Defiantly need to work on customer service skills there. Coffee was good tho

By the time we got our breakfast, one was as requested, the other was someone else's. When the correct one was finally cooked, it was not hot. Just lukewarm (scrambled eggs, baked beans etc) and the scrambled eggs were rubbery and very little of it. The coffee was warm, the tea was warm and strong.

My partner& I went for lunch. Our 2nd visit, as we had been about 18montgs ago, & it wasn't very good then, but thought we would give it another go. We ordered burger & chips, cheese & pickle panini. Nothing complicated. We were told they would bring it to us. 25 minutes later, the burger & chips came out. Fine so far. As it's hot food you need to eat straight away. Nearly 10 minutes later, a cheese sandwich came out. I said I had ordered a panini. They apologised & said they would do it straight away. 10 minutes later, they came back to say, they had put it down & charged for a sandwich so needed another £1.50. OK, fine, I paid. 10 minutes later, again I asked "how long now please" as my partners lunch was rapidly disappearing. "it's just coming" was the reply. 5 minutes later, with my partners lunch eaten, I decided it doesn't take further 20 minutes to cook a panini. I went to the counter & asked for my money back. The woman behind the counter was very rude, & said, "it's ready". I told her we wanted lunch together, not at a different time. She said it was a mistake. I understand mistakes happen, but it doesn't take 25 minutes to do a panini. I asked again for my money back. She was again rude. I said for the amount of time I'd waited, they shouldn't of charged the £1.50, but waivered it or offered another drink. She was rude again. Personally, I think she needs some people skills!!. We won't be returning again, or recommending them.

Went for a quick breakfast whilst out and about, we've been to this cafe many times before, but this has to be the last ever visit. The service was almost at a standstill, the staff looked as if they really didn't want to be there, they were rude too, huge 'chow' dogs sitting in there, slobbering doggy drool all over the floor whilst customers were waiting an age for the food. Cafe wasn't overly busy, yet it still took over an hour for a breakfast to appear, 10 minutes after the bacon sandwich ordered made an appearance, and it certainly wasn't worth waiting for, breakfast was doing backstroke in the grease, the bacon sandwich didn't have butter on which actually wouldn't be needed anyway as the bacon was half cooked and saturated in grease. The 'chef' didn't have any idea about organising her kitchen or how to send out complete food tickets, and I seriously believe she needs to find another job! I have been a chef for almost 20 years and also an environmental health officer, I'm reporting this establishment asap for improper practices and hopefully they will be investigated and closed down.

Ordered 4 straight forward dishes, was full but not crazy busy - and fully staffed. 1 hour later asked how long it would be as we had a boat to catch. Told 10 minutes very abruptly right behind an older lady the same little jumped up waiter had just been very rude too for a similar question. 20 minutes later, still no food and despite being told it was being cooked, could very clearly see that our food was nowhere to be seen on the griddle.Ended up having to get a refund (as did several other people in the cafe at the time) and grab some sandwiches over the road just to make the later boat. Missed out on an hour on the water because of this shambles...Little bloke was really rude and snappy and visibly upset an old bloke who was simply asking whether his tea would be long by telling him he hadn't ordered any, and to sit back down.Quite frankly a crappy start to an otherwise nice day out. I will be visiting Exmouth at least twice a week having moved my mooring - and the whole family has a full brekkie every weekend. I won't ever be eating there! Nor will our friends who were with us at the time.

We have been to Exmouth many times but never wandered this far along the seafront. We are so pleased that we did! The Dockside Cafe is quite unnoticeable but it once found is definitely worth a try. It is no way a five star restaurant but exactly what you would expect a seaside caf to be. Clean, bright, good service and fantastic huge home type fry up's with a good mug of tea at very little cost. Perfect for families on a budget. There are also vegetarian options, baked potatoes, sandwiches etc etc. and plenty of advice on the area given by local people. As the name implies it is right next to the harbour where the children had a fantastic time crabbing but is also lovely just walking around and sit watching the little boats bob about on the water. We will be going back again and again. Would thoroughly recommend.

Empty when we arrived, so we were able to place our order quickly. Five staff on duty, but they were so busy chatting we smelled the teacakes burning before they had realised- so they arrived a little charred dripping in butter. Overall not bad, better to visit when busy I feel.

Lovely place to eat, very tasty food and you can choose what you want, not just a set menu. Prices are very reasonable and have never been disappointed. A true little gem and friendly staff

This cafe serves the best breakfast in the area and not expensive, the cafe is quite cosy and well furnished with pictures of local boats on the wall which I found quite interesting, the cafe holds about 60 diners, but gets very busy from early morning until the afternoon, the staff are fast to serve and patient, the owner, Viv is a excellent cook and always most kind and pleasant, I use this cafe on a regular basis and highly recommend it to any one visiting the Exmouth dock area..

The best place in town for a classic English breakfast, in company with all the local trawlermen. A great place to go before spending a day on the water. Visited so many times and will keep coming back

Difficult to fault the all day breakfast which consisted of bacon sausage egg hash brown mushrooms baked beans and a slice of white toast generously buttered. Everything was freshly cooked in this traditional cafe nicely decorated right by the quay in Exmouth

Our family had breakfast here before the Sail with Santa on Stuart Line Cruises. The breakfast was cooked to order, beautifully presented, and tasted wonderful. Staff are very friendly and helpful, reasonably priced.

Decent cooked breakfast. Not too greasy, and well-portioned.Go for the bubble and squeak, it's brilliant.Lots of tables, but quite busy with locals, tourists, tradesmen and fishermen so best not to be too large a group.

This place is exactly what you want if you like the basics, no frills breakfast at a very good price, the food is good, the staff are friendly, and you can take your dogs in, situated by the Marnia, it's handy if you are on/off boats. A small place, but cosy.

My family & I came here to eat lunch on a nice sunny Sunday, but sadly we ended up sitting waiting for our food for over 45 minutes, which is pretty tricky with 3 kids! The food wasn't too bad, but it wasn't cheep either, wish we'd been sitting in the nice pub garden up the road!

Down by the quay side, frequented by the local fisherman (mussels) Mainly fry ups, chips etc., good wholesome food. Convenient for the local ferry and local sea cruises. Friendly staff can get busy at times. Dogs are permitted.

Bought bacon sandwiches here when going on our boat trips as we did not have breakfast before hand. Lots of bacon very tasty. Decided to stop and have a full breakfast here one morning. Lots of food, very reasonable prices and tea lovely and hot not too strong.

Came here just for coffee whilst waiting for the water taxi to The Floating Cafe. Coffee was very tasteless and basic. The munu appears to be quite basic, mostly fried food. Quite a lot of spacious seating and free newspapers to read.

As the name suggests, this Cafe is situatated by the new marina (which was always the docks). We went for breakfast which is freshly cooked to order. We did not have to wait too long but was certainly well worth waiting for. Good quality bacon, sausage plus all the added extras, very tasty, plenty of it and excellent value for money. Would certainly recommend a visit to this cafe.

I and my family have been using this cafe for many years. The breakfast takes 30mins to 1hr from order to eating. But then it is a decent feed, although it has slipped in quality over the years. Today however gave me a feeling of unease when stood at the counter and a young polite French lad approached the staff where I was ordering and very nicely asked if the little boy who was stood crossed legged could use the toilet. The staff replied by saying yes but he had to pay 50p. I could see the youth taking the time to explain this to the little boy who was clearly in need of the toilet and the little boy even put his hand in his pocket to find money! And then a local business owner came to the rescue before I could put my hand in my pocket to pay for him and said he could use theirs. I even pleaded with the staff to let him and said look at him, he needs the toilet badly. There was another incident whilst I was there but that's for another time. As a result of this visit I won't ever return because I am a father and love my kids, and would never want someone to allow this to happen to a child. I'm absolutely disgusted.

Staying in the local area we decided to meet up with other family members for an evening meal and catch-up. Knowing this pub does food from Wednesday through to Sunday lunchtime decided this would be a good place to visit. We booked and arrived just on opening time and was met with a very welcoming greeting by the bar person. Once we placed our order, in a very short space of time the starter course arrived, and on completion of this and table cleared, again the main meals arrived well presented and hot. The pricing was well within most budgets and with the specials board there is a good variety to choose from concidering the size of the village. Definitely on future visits this is a place on the list for food.

Great venue for lunch, always busy, good food at reasonable prices. Until today, prices have risen, the place was half empty, the food still good but not exceptional so why the price hike? My breaded plaice with chips, peas and tartare sauce was £16.99! It was nice enough, not outstanding and available elsewhere in Sidmouth for a lot less. If they want more profit and less customers I think this approach will work, we will think twice before returning as there are many other places to eat locally that offer better value for similar food.

We enjoyed our night at this well run, clean and friendly hotel. The three course evening meal was freshly prepared and delicious. Our room was spotless and well presented. We both are surprised this is only a two star rated hotel, as our experience exceeded many four stars we’ve stayed in. Our breakfast was again delicious. The staff are all attentive and couldn’t do enough for us. It has ample parking and a beautiful rear garden with seating. If we are in the region again, we would wholeheartedly head for The Tumbling Weir, Thank~you

We visited the Riveria for lunch today, our first visit for 8 years and I have to say that I was very disappointed. I ordered cod and chips at a hotel next to the sea but I was given a piece of battered fish straight out of the "Bird's Eye" mould and not freshly cooked as I expected from a hotel of some repute. This was nowhere near the quality I enjoy regularly from my local Wetherspoons!
