Lovely customer service and delicious food

This nice family restaurant provides a pretty nice atmosphere where you can enjoy fantastic Nepalese and Indian cousin for a very good price. You can select the level of spice and the side-dishes which are very flexible. The service team is very lovely and customer-friendly and they don´t hesitate to fulfil extra services and customer wishes.

Excellent food, there were 14 of us and one friends birthday with Bristol Mixed Ultimate Frisbee team! We were very hungry The food was throughly delicious, phenomenal and really filled a big hole! Brilliant positive attitude was had by all the staff on our arrival and even did our team mate a little sing song! Would highly recommend on a trip to Reading!

A gem of a place! Beautiful, little cosy restaurant with lovely food and lovely staff. We ordered Nepalese Chicken curry, Fulka Rotis, Chilli Momos and Saag Palak. The food was yum. Everything was very fresh and tasted authentic. We also tried their Gurkha Beer, which was surprisingly smooth and light. The chilli momos could have been a bit more spicy though, but still good. The staff were very warm and welcoming. We had a delightful experience. Definitely recommend.

Very descent place. Comparatively small place but not congested at all. Simple and nice atmosphere, friendly service, tasty food. Loved their authentic Chowmein. Surely will be visiting again. Chicken tikka was good too, kids loved it along with momos.

We visited on Sunday afternoon it was very cold in there, which meant we couldn't take our jackets off apart from that no other complaints. The food was hot, fresh, and delicious!!!

When I entered the restaurant, I loved the ambiance, felt like I was in India. It was cosy and the service was perfect. I loved the mango lassi. My partner had the fish thali and he really enjoyed it. We didn't know what some of the dishes were in his thali and upon asking an uncle, he very kindly described them. Definitely going back for the lassi!

Love this little eatery tucked away in the corner of our city .. try their noodles and spicy chilli chicken .. one of the family's favourite take away joints

We went there twice in a few days, on both occasions food excellent. Can do with fixing the non-closing front door, a bit chilly from time to time. But very enjoyable.

Great tasty food , served piping hot and great friendly service. With such an extensive menu we were split for choice, so we ordered some items like the chilli pork as well. Prices are reasonable and the portions are a good size. There is limited in street parking however.

What an excellent little restaurant, nothing fancy but fantastic Nepalese food. We didn’t know what to expect but the range of flavour was amazing as were the friendly attentive staff. Thoroughly recommend for a different experience.

I've been here many times and I reckon it is probably one of the best Nepalese restaurants I have been to. The food is great, plenty of dishes to choose from and the staff is absolutely lovely. They welcome you with a smile and make you feel home. If you're passing through Reading, this is a must-stop. It's great value for your money!

I am from Kolkata, India, visiting U.K, and am staying at Reading with a relative. While passing Basingstoke Rd, saw this quaint joint Dhaulagiri . Well I am a foodie and having travelled in Nepal, Bhutan & Darjeeling ( in India) I fell in love with Nepalese food, specially Thupka and Momos. Though essentially Tibetan cuisine, these two items are most popular, even to Non veg. people, who are not Nepalese.. I ordered Pork Thupka and stir fried pork momos, and pork chowmein. I was really dissapointed. The taste was far from authentic. Thupka had smell of mustard oil, which, was unthinkable, pork momos did not bind properly, and had a very bland taste. Even the pork chow mein tasted worse than a street food vendor would offer in Kolkata or Delhi. Cannot say much about than other dishes they have on their menu., but sorry, I will not recommended this restaurant to anyone

It is a typical modest Nepalese restaurant, I find the food very similar to Indian hence like to visit whenever I am craving for non fancy good food. Amazing Veg Chowmein/Hakka Noodles. Starters are interesting. Thali is very homely - it is comfort food.

I have been comin to this place since 2021. One of my friend referred me chicken momos snd special rice damn it was so tasty we got obsessed with dhaulagiri. I let my team taste food .Than my whole fuel station team started to buy from here everyday. Owner aunty is so sweet shes like big mother. but uncle never gave us discount😁 anyways we love this place

We went here for my daughter in law's birthday. They couldn't have been more accommodating even offering to push my grandson's buggy while we ate. We had one family member who doesn't like spicy food so her dishes were toned down. The food was absolutely delicious! We had a fantastic meal and were absolutely stuffed! I cannot recommend it more highly. Excellent food Fantastic friendly service Reasonably priced Really clean.

The food was amazing and the staff were lovely. There was a high chair available for my little boy. One staff member even offered to push the pram to get little one to sleep whilst I ate. The staff remembered to say happy birthday to the family member. Service was really good and the food came quickly. We even had enough food to take home with us. Really good meal yesterday thank you very much.

Dhaulagiri house do delicious food, are always super welcoming and remember faces. Nepalese curry is great. They're also really good at accommodating allergies and always check they are accommodating them well.

We went at lunchtime today as we had read the reviews and it was one of the few Indian restaurants open for lunch. We were not disappointed. The menu looks amazing with many dishes we haven’t tried before. We stuck to old favourites, lamb jalfrezi and chicken bhuna as a comparison. Both were amazing. We also really enjoyed the pickles and poppadums. No high end decor here but it didn’t matter as the food was so good. We will be back

Amazing restaurant. Me and my wife we keep coming to this restaurant often for their Momos (dumplings). Having stayed in Bangalore, India for a while we got used to the amazing Momos available as street food. This restaurant brought back those memories with finest Momos

What a hidden gem this place is! It doesn’t look much from the outside & it is tiny inside, but Wow! the food is outstanding! Super friendly & helpful staff- the brilliant chef even came out to speak to us (& all the other guests) to check we were happy with how she had prepared our food. She even explained what amendments she made especially for us. This is the kind of place everyone wants to find - a little independent, family run business, by people who are fully invested in the food they serve, which is among the best in Reading

I ordered the chicken chowmein takeaway and half of the container was empty. I am not at all happy with the quantity and the food is a bit expensive too. I will not be visiting this place again as I feel a bit cheated.

I ordered from here because of the great reviews,but what a disappointment,ordered two poppadoms got four sounds great but would have rather had two fresh poppadoms instead of four stale ones,keema nan was good..The lamb biryani had four pieces of lamb for the price not good and weirdly came without a sauce so not a biryani at all when I called to ask where the sauce was I was told they dont do one ,first time ever I've had a biryani without the sauce..

This was my first visit and I'm going to write an honest review. I ordered a takeaway. The staff were very friendly The food is priced around average...with some things be slightly higher than average. I ordered a Lamb Bhutuwa and Chicken Chola main. Each dish contained half a portion of meat with half of the tray full off crushed crackers and beans...this was very disappointing as I expected the tray to be full. It was £8.50 for the Lamb....which sadly, was like rubber and I didn't eat it. The mixed grill was fine, with huge chucks of chicken. I spent £40. Sadly I won't go here again as I believe there are better places which serve nicer food.

Ordered the bhuna nepelese curry and the momo dumplings and oh they were so good. definitely coming again to get more dumplings definitely worth the price. will be going again

Doesn't have the white table cloth (as shown in pictures), the Nepalese fish dish was oily and not completely boneless (found one bone). The server didn't enquire if we enjoyed the food, so I'm leaving my feedback here.

Amazing customer service. It's a new place so they're still deciding on the dishes. We received a Nepalese menu only when we couldn't decide what to take on the Indian menu. A shame because the Nepalese dishes are fabulous. But above all, the customer service was incredible. Several members of staff, from waiter, chef to owners, asking us how it was and enquiring if we needed anything. Great experience and highly recommended.

Went here with the family yesterday 30th August, what a great place. The family who run it are so friendly and the food was out of this world!! We had the Nepalese Street foods which was flavourful and completely different to your average curry and Chinese food. Highly recommended you will not be disappointed

Booked a last minute meal here with the family. The place wasn't massive but fitted the 6 of us in fine. Drinks where reasonably priced. Food was beautiful. I had the neapalse lamb curry which was cooked lovely. Definatly didn't hold back with the spices in the momos and chow mein either. Bill came to £120 which was a bit of a shock but the quality of the food made up for it. Would recommend

Good food at a good price. It was mostly frequented by Nepalese people which is a good sign of it's authenticity. The curry was full of flavour and the momo were also excellent

It was great experience. Good food. Was bit busy but hey thats a good sign for a good restaurant. However, you do have to wait a bit for the food but its worth the wait!

We came here for the last day of our England roundtrip and were very happy we did so. We enjoyed the variety of choises - many of which we hadn't seen before. We decided on starters and Chili paneer as well as a veg thali. Everything tasted excellent. I particularly recommend the thali. I have not been to Nepal, but as I have never had such a thali somewhere else (including India) before, I can only assume that it was authentic nepalese. It's somewhat outside the City Center (ca. 25 min walk - or just a 5 min drive), but it's definitely worth venturing out.

Have eaten here many times . Was Reccomended to eat here by a Nepalese person . The food is amazing and very good value . Husband and wife team . Husband out front and his wife does the cooking . They are lovely people.

Por fin me encantó poder volver a comer en este restaurante excelente, acogedor e independiente. El thakali thali es mi plato favorito pero no estaba disponible para llevar. Es saludable, sustancioso, lleno de variedad y, sobre todo, muy sabroso. Tomé poppadum como entrante y terminé con masala chai, este último es mucho mejor que en cualquier otro lugar donde lo haya probado.Durante el encierro, comí comida para llevar semanal, probando una variedad de platos. Me impresionó particularmente su bhaji y roti de coliflor.

No es un clásico de Vindaloo, pero visite este restaurante, disfrute de los momo's con salsa de chile casera, luego consiga algunos sabrosos currys nepaleses muy condimentados. No te decepcionará.

This place is really worth a try.The exterior and interior are not much, given how much money is spent by most eateries these days to entice you part with your cash. But usually focusing on what a restaurant should do first and foremost- serve great food- is a good idea.This is small operation run by a husband and wife team. They are really great hosts. While we were there, a few other customers came in and they were greeted with a hug, which shows they know their customers and their customers know them.But the main star is the food. Really flavoursome and a very nice change to the normal curries.Some flavours are quite unusual but always interesting. The Nepalese thaali was outrageous (good). Really interesting variations to normal India food, as well as fully authentic Nepalese (spicy cold soya beans and the pickles come to mind). Most of the dishes come with as a meat or vegetarian option. The portions are on the healthy to large size. There is nothing here not to like.WE WILL BE BACK- soon.Note that the phone number listed on Advisor did not work. But this restaurant is very much open.I hope that you visit this place enjoy it as much as we did. These small operations need to be supported to survive.

We regularly visit this small restaurant for eating in and takeaways. I have enjoyed several vegetarian dishes like Momo, Noodles, Chilli Paneer, Samosa etc. on multiple occasions. The quality is consistent and flavours are authentic. No wonder they have been voted top 5 restaurants in Reading recently. Highly recommended.

Reasonable prices, chilli momos are good. Authentic nepalese food. Chairs overly worn out, toilet smells too much of urinal cakes but over looking issues those 2 issues the food is good. Been back twice

Found this place on TA whilst looking for somewhere for dinner.This is a simple little, cafe looking place with fab food, reasonable prices and good service.This isn’t a top end restaurant, which is why it’s so affordable and serves great food. I think it’s the food it relies on and having been to many similar restaurants, I can’t fault it.I had poppadoms with a good pickle tray, a Chicken Thali, that was the best I’ve ever had and Roti that was fresh and tasty.Great local eatery. Give it your support and give it a try, you won’t regret it. I’ll be back.

Delicious food with authentic Nepalese flavour

What a find - was lucky enough to find this fabulous place in walking distance from my awful hotel. A warm welcome and fabulous food - distinctively Nepalese and well worth a trip out of your way - flavours are unique and spectacular.

I met with some Gurkha friends that I have not seen for some years and they brought me to this delightful small Restaurant. Cobra beer on tap and an amazing mix of Nepalese and Indian Cuisine cooked to absolute perfection. Thank you to the staff for the warm welcome and the stunning food & drink. Highly recommended.
