Dhanmondi Tandoori in East Hampshire

The best lamb chops I've had at an Indian restaurant and the lamb roshan is probably the most delicious Indian meal I've ever had, it's unbelievably tasty!!!

Sorry but this was the worst curry I have had. Won't be coming back. Service slow, small portions, tasteless, no zero alcohol beer. Went with a group of ladies all of whom were disappointed, such a shame.

Me and my wife had a meal here and tbh we wouldn’t return. We had to wait half an hour to get the menu and had to chase our drinks . The restaurant is very small and it doesn’t have a great atmosphere. The staff were all very friendly and helpful but not prompt at serving customers and keeping on top of orders . The food arrived and it was not hot just warm which was frustrating with no heat plates. All in all a very average restaurant and I don’t feel I got value for money .

I never leave reviews and this is my first time doing so,I just want to take the time to thank everyone at Dhanmondi for a fantastic meal. I have family visiting and we were all so impressed. It was quick, hot and delicious. Couldn't have picked a better option. Thanks again

Super place. The food is excellent and service second to none. Kind and courteous staff. Celebrated a big birthday of mine there and was over the moon for choosing them for the venue. All the guests loved it. I highly recommend.

Ordered a take away for the first time and honestly, the food is stunning. I have high expectations of food and I must say this was probably the nicest Indian I have ever had!!! The pilau rice was incredible, such flavour from everything!

Ah man, our usual go to Indian - Star Tandoori has recently closed down so we decided to try this place again after around 2 years. Ordered online, food arrived on time, but it was not enjoyable. It may have been the unusual choice of dishes we ordered but that shouldn’t be an excuse, ever. Worried the prawns were off (could be completely wrong) but they had a horrible pungent smell to them, not the usual smell I get with a prawn puri, and I couldn’t eat them. Think next time I’ll stop being lazy and use the Fewa Inn. Up your game Dhanmondi you have a prime opportunity on your laps!!!!

We ordered for the first time on Saturday and we were so impressed, some of the best Indian we have had in a long time, everything was so fresh and the flavours just incredible, the chapatti is just the best! we loved it so much we had it again on the Sunday! Highly recommend

We live really close by and have used the Restaurant since it first opened. In February I went for a meal with a friend and had the best food I’ve ever had there! My husband and I also had a takeaway this week and it was beautifully cooked and very tasty. Thank you!

We won a meal for two which was brilliant. But the food was really tasty. My husband thoroughly enjoyed his korma and myself who can only eat certain food enjoyed every bit. I highly recommend paying them a visit. I have dined inside before which was also wonderful. We received great service on both occasions.

Nothing more that needs to be said other than the order was wrong, and the food was so late that it was cold. Not even tepid ! But when calling to remonstrate, it's just not their fault - because they're too busy and most customers get the wrong order. Oh... and again they're too busy to deal with the complaint or resolve it. Must remember to pay them another day when I'm too busy to do so at the time or ordering or collecting. Possibly an idea to 'not bite off more than you can chew' ? (No apologies for the food related pun) and to perhaps ensure the menu is clear enough to avoid the constant confusions between customers and staff ?

Had Jalfrezi and the mixed tikka starter with garlic naan. Was all incredibly tasty and was surprised by the quality. All the food arrived warm. Jalfrezi wasn’t too spicy and maybe a bit sweet but still delicious. Will order again.

We went to the Dhanmondi with a large group of friends and had an excellent meal . Can't fault the place .

Great meal from here this evening. Prompt delivery, great value, hot and delicious. We had a Palak Paneer with what I think is housemade paneer, Aloo Gobi and the Tarkha Dal. All very tasty and well seasoned. The Bombay chips were great too - couldn't resist those! The papadams were fresh and crisp, and the naan was well transported so as to be as fresh as eating in-house. The cheese naan could have been a little cheesier, that's my only constructive criticism. Would recommend, we will be back!

For a meal I had in restaurant this evening. Poppadoms fine although mediocre mango & mint sauces. Nan breads good. Chicken Tikka Masala probably the worst I've ever had anywhere, with sour/bitter flavour and the keema rice 'clumpy' with little taste. Bombay potatoes were ok. Service ok although no finesse. Asked for coke with just a little ice and it came with loads, no offer of pudding menu and not attentive even though didn't seem particularly busy. Certainly not cheap either, and we will not be returning again.

We ordered a take away and website indicated a one hour wait. The delivery people called for directions, then ignored them and got lost. They called again and I had to walk to meet them and was given no apologies. We have had deliveries before with no issue. By now food was tepid and it was 2 hours from ordering. Will collect next time.

Food is lovely but waiting times are bad. But usually they great.

Ordered 3 meals. 2 were okay but the 3rd was not very good at all. King prawn mouli was more like a thin soup with very small prawn that were dry and rubbery. Naan breads were also very tough. I have had the same meal inside the restaurant and it was excellent. Sadly not so the second time around.

The worst meal in these times would never recommend them again full off water an I can not leave my house wars a treat but will never go back spice lounge so much better

Not the same standard as my visit 2 years ago..Absolutely no effort made in the cooking it seemed. Had the Balti but didnt come served in hot balti dish as expected. The Bombay potatoes were just a boiled spud cut into wedges with a bit of seasoning. As was cauliflower baji. Starter was tandoori chicken and that was nice. When you're paying around £30 a head you expect better than this.

First and last the time I will eat here. Service was not good and the food was terrible. 2 chicken dishes both dull and tasteless. My chicken looked like it had been stewed for hours. The photos of food on the site are not even close to the food served last night. Other reviews look great !. So what went wrong ??!!

Food arrived cold, Chicken was awfully dry and the sauces were very watery. I want be ordering from here again and won’t be visiting the restaurant for meals. There are much better places to eat in the Bordon area.

Our food was absolutely gorgeous. I had chicken shashlik with keema rice plus a cheese and garlic naan. All freshly cooked, beautifully tender and spiced well. Such a pity the restaurant was empty save for one other table. The interior of the restaurant is welcoming, bright and comfortable - if the outside was lifted with better lighting and signage I think this place could really do well. Certainly it’s food is some of the best Indian cooking I have had for some time

Lovely food , even though place needs an update

I used to eat here when I lived in Bordon but this was my first visit in twenty years ..it hasn't changed much ..staff very friendly and helpful..food was reasonably priced and decent quality .. restaurant was very clean ..the only down side was a very noisy group of children running around screaming and jumping off chairs etc..me and my partner wanted a quiet evening to talk..other diners were complaining about the noise as well..feel the staff could have had a word with parents ..but other than that enjoyed the food , would go back ..

Just had my first meal from here a takeaway and it was really good. Ready at the time they said, hot and really good food. Will eat here again.

Improvement on last visit with curry tasting delicious. Place still lacks atmosphere that an Indian restaurant has and it could do with a makeover and update. Staff friendly. Find it quite expensive. Daughter has chicken chunks served with fries and vegetables (doesn't like curry). Reality is they are chicken nuggets. As for the vegetables. What vegetables. She had 32 peas thrown on the plate

We had tikka masala and a chicken korma. Mine was cold and chewy and my partner would not eat hers as it was oily and very over cooked.

Me and my husband have had a few takeaways recently. We can not find one fault . Always spot on . Chicken is so soft and tender you don't need a knife . The flavours are amazing . Fluffy rice every time and you can tell everything is freshly made to order. 100% best take home meal I have ever had . A must go to place for your weekly treat . Well done Dhanmondi .

Loved the food, service was Great, atmosphere was great. I love this restauraunt, honestly can't believe that it not packed with a queue out the door every night! The evening was amazing and I would come here again very regularly if I could! And again, the food was amazing! Would definitely recommend.

It's a new menu, good choice and the Lamb chop starter was superb - all three meals were excellent

Nice intimate atmosphere perfect for our anniversary dinner. Staff were attentive but were also happy for us to sit and talk for a good long while after we had finished our meals. Indian food was very good, highly recommend both the garlic and cheese and chilli naans. Wine selection was good too. The only disappointment was the dessert which was of the frozen mass produced variety. Edible once it defrosted enough, just disappointing after such good starters and mains. Irish coffee was also very good, so maybe just skip dessert!

Nice food .polite staff and clean

We walked in to a completely empty restaurant, the three of us sat down. They obviously were cooking for take away orders too but still, our mains took the best part of an hour to arrive and they forgot one rice order, then came back with a curry not a rice before correcting and the Coke that we ordered before food came after that. The food was tasty and the place was clean (got cleansing wipes after dinner) they took the drinks off our bill for everything.

We've driven past Dhanmondi many times, but have never gone in... I think partly put off because it always looked a bit tired on the outside. An impromptu visit one Saturday night following an early evening show at the Phoenix was a pleasant suprise: the restaurant area is bright, clean and welcoming. We got seated within 5-10 minutes and the timing of the food and drinks was just right (not too fast, but not too slow). Food was good, the jalfrezi being a little hotter than we'd expected, but plenty of it, and no complaints on quality. Only a couple of things let it down: too long a wait for the table to be cleared once we had finished; the light in the Ladies wasn't working and we had to wait a long time for the bill after we'd asked for it (for which the manager/owner apologised). We would definitely go again.

I have never actually sat down and eaten in here but it does seem like a lovely atmosphere when I collect my food. Have always collected as the wait is much shorter. The only negative is that delivery is always such a long time. Food is always perfect though and we will never use another Indian takeaway in the area knowing the food is always so good from here.

This is the first time I have use dhanmondi for a delivery.. I paid by card over the phone.. strangely 10 minutes after giving my card details somebody tried to take 399 pound from my account 3 times.. the bloke I ordered with read my card details back to me as I read it to him... be aware

Love this restaurant, service and food literally couldn't be better, reasonably priced too , best curries for miles with a lovely chilled atmosphere and friendly staff, they will go out of their way to make you feel comfortable, we will be coming here a lot more in future.

Was great but gone downhill recently. Hardly any garlic in the garlic naan, food arriving just warm and generally not so nice.

Really Tasty take away this evening. Moved here in June and have only just tried this Indian. We will definitely be back, food fresh, very tasty and the best chicken Pathia I’ve tasted, so flavoursome. Happy New Year to you!

Dhanmondi restaurant is very luxurious in Dhaka, there are many big restaurants serving almost all types of food from home and abroad. Many famous people, many big people, people usually come here. Almost all types of food are available here. I also went here. I enjoyed eating at the restaurant. If you want to eat at a good restaurant in Dhaka, you can also go there

Second takeaway ordered from Dhanmondi. Never again. Mango ‘chutney’ is a red purée? Both times. Onion salad was basically a whole white onion sliced!? ‘Garlic naan’ arrived which was basically a plain naan with raw garlic and green herbs splattered in the middle.

Got the vegetarian set meal and it was amazing. Only reason I did 4 stars as wasn't impressed with the bhajis but that was it !

Hammed and his team are simply superb. Ive eaten here for years and if anything the quality and choice improves as time goes by. My chicken Tava tonight was spectacular and I know the whole table of 10 were delighted with their meals and the service.

My wife, daughter and I love eating here. It is a special treat to enjoy the hospitality and food here. We each have our favourite dishes. My wife likes the children tikka masala, my daughter likes the chicken korma and I like the tandoori mixed grill. The portions are both tasty and generous. The service is excellent and we always feel welcome and valued.

This is our goto Indian restaurant. Always great for takeaway or eat in. Hamid is a great host and never fails to come and say hello. The price is very reasonable and that doesn’t mean they scrimp on taste.

We always have a good meal at Dhanmondi, menu choice is great and service is good. Hamid and his sons always greet us with a smile. Takeaway service is very good as well whether we order for 2 or 6 people. Meals are hot and very tasty.

Myself and my partner like to dine out a lot approx twice a week , we are huge fans of Indian food and have great restaurants locally , unfortunately this isn’t one ( not bad ) but much better available locally , staff were hovering over us and the food was although ok not great , lacking in the flavours that you expect from a good Indian meal ..( bland ) the meal was a lower end price wise so I suppose I couldn’t expect too much but they really need to put a little more love into the food and its presentation...

We have always gone here for our Indian takeaways as they are always delicious. The service is always brilliant, we ring in advance then collect from the restaurant, the food is always ready on time and is always hot. The food itself is tasty with a good menu, I would highly recommend a visit.

Friday evening and just returned from a great meal....we had a starter and main course and the flavours were fantastic and the service was as fast or slow as you wanted and always with a smile....with a bottle of wine and some beers was great value too....will definately be back soon and have no problem in recommending to anyone....a great place to eat
