Destination in Kirklees

Just had a superb Xmas Eve meal. Great food, service and atmosphere. What’s not to like? Oh, and for the chef to come round every table and chat with us, lovely touch 🙏🏻

Very weird dining experience. All the front of house staff are young girls who seem very anxious and confused. The decor is very claustrophobic. The curry is average, except for one mushroom curry which was notably disappointing and more like a soup than a curry. The chef comes out and butters you up which I think is why it has such high ratings? Honestly that’s why we visited and we all left a bit baffled…

The best Indian restaurant in Yorkshire. It has a pleasing interior. We had non-veg platter. Delicious jumbo prawns, lamb chops, salmon and green chicken. Mutton ahuna is to die for. Kulcha and naan were crispy and hot. Daal was sone pe suhaga. Ended the dinner with superb Gulaab jamun and Gajar ka Halwa.

Am blessed this place is on my doorstep. A quarter of humanity reside in India, but the best curry is in Slawit. Ps, disclaimer, I've never been to India x

Really impressed with this place everything is just spot on. If you like trying new dishes this is definitely the place to go. The only problem is choosing. I will definitely return to try more of the menu.

The food is absolutely amazing and they cater for gluten free too. We would highly recommend, you will not be disappointed.

First time visiting last weekend after many, many recommendations. The restaurant is lovely inside, a warm welcome from the staff before entering the main restaurant which is very modern. Nearly every table was full and there was a great atmosphere. The food was incredible, I had the paneer curry, it was delicious and my husband had the railway lamb which he said was extremely tender! Also, the garlic naan was probably the best I’ve ever had. Cannot wait to return to this fab restaurant.

What a fantastic restaurant. The food is delicious, authentic, and obviously prepared with passion and a true knowledge of flavour. The staff are attentive, friendly and will spend time explaining what a dish comprises. Truly a wonderful meal cannot sing its praises enough. I love it,cannot wait to return.

Well I must say this is up there with the best curry I have ever had. The prawn starter was amazing. I never had a prawn as big. The lamb main was lovely. The meat was so tender 👌 even had the pleasure of talking with the owner as he came to our table. The staff were really nice too. Overall very impressed.

Felt very uncomfortable as all the 7 female staff stand back and watch you eating, on top of that we were asked 8 times if our food was ok and if “everything was ok” It all became a bit much. Food was very average in fact disappointing after all the reviews as we travelled 30 miles to try this destination. The Pompadoms were all broken in to bits Other food was not temperature hot, curry felt like it was pre-made and heated They could not make a curry milder or hotter from the menu which was strange for a chef ? The decor was dated inside and the outside looked black modern, also inside did not smell fresh and clean. Also felt it was expensive and not worth the price charged for the food. Cutlery was very old etc etc needless to say we will not be returning or recommending.

Christ it's expensive. Seeing 18 quid average for a bowl of curry sours the night from when you first look at the menu, then when no pops and pics turn up and you have to put a fortune in again for sundries leaves you in a huff before seeing how nice the food is. It's alright. Staff are pleasent enough too but slow. Share a starter, half a pint and a main each was 80+ quid per couple. ONLY TWO SCALLOPS for how much?! The previous three times we've been the chicken thigh meat was dry, but wasn't this time, really tasty but still... never again.

Me and the other half went here as we were asking around for the best curry house , bare in mind we eat curry twice a week, I am a bit of a rate my Indian sort of guy as well as my mrs. We stuck on one in Neverthong we thought it couldn’t be beaten. Our review of this curry house is it’s spot on , I will just say the flavours taste so authentic and tasty like Star Wars in your mouth just amazing . We have been eating curry for a long time now but this is the 10 + for us. We will be returning very soon. P.s the staff are lovely and the head chef, Promise what a lovely man. Came out to us and checked we were happy with the food as we changed it up a bit.. nice touch , great guy we really appreciated it.. Mr and Mrs James .

Had a really tasty curry as a main course. The bread with it was delicious. However, the poppadoms for a starter and dips were rubbish. Tiny triangular things, basically the equivalent of a large one anywhere else at £4.95 is too expensive. All in a tiny bowl. The dips are meagre, tiny square pots that are unreal . Bill for 4 adults, with 2 pints 2 wines no desserts was £120. Told the waitress twice that the poppadoms were soft tasting. Was told they are fresh. The whole place needs revamped. Very 80s. No windows at all in the place, you could have imagined you were in an Eastern block country. Must suit local people. See for yourself, that's my opinion . You can disagree.

Absolutely delicious food. A really different menu . Railway Lamb was recommended and I’m not surprised it was so tasty!! Naan bread topped with pistachio and cherries was amazing! Service great and just a really lovely lovely meal

I’m glad to add to all the glowing reviews of Destination in Slathwaite. We went as a group of 5 with a very young baby and we were warmly welcomed by all staff. The atmosphere was lively and the restaurant was full when we arrived for our 6:30 pm reservation, something I haven’t seen since before COVID. The menu was refreshingly original, we all ate a different dish and shared a little of each others. All the dishes were wonderful and all were very different (not from one big basic curry pot) I wouldn’t hesitate to recommend this restaurant and will definitely book again especially as the bill came in at just under £145 with beers and soft drinks which we thought was great value.

Awesome curry house, really authentic, the chef came out to make sure everyone was enjoying their meals and the service gave it a really friendly, caring vibe. They cook everything in tandoors I believe, which makes all the difference.

For vegetarian poor no matter paneer what my wife recieved in her valued opinion shes a great punjabi cook was only average so we wont be coming again my railway lamb was very good give credit where its deserved. One last thing very pricey 2200 for a lamb curry with nan been lots of places around fifteen sixteen pounds me and wife being of Indian origin know good stuff unlike your usual clientele. Good luck but goodbye.

Start to finish a really top notch experience. The presentation and quality of the meal was fantastic. Pricing might seem higher than the norm but once you've tasted the food you'll totally get the cost. Highly recommended

How lucky are we to have such a great, authentic Indian restaurant in our village. We’ve dined at Destination many times including on Christmas Day and it never disappoints. We visited this Friday for a low key meal to mark our wedding anniversary and both food and service were exceptional as always. I’d love to know how they cook their lamb chops as they literally melt in your mouth like butter! I’d maybe like to see an upgrade of the decor, but to be honest, the food does all the talking in this place! Well done team Destination.

Best Indian food in the UK? The seafood starters are the standout dishes in this place and for the quality the prices are pretty reasonable too!

I arranged a group booking for 26 people to celebrate my husbands 60th birthday, and we were not disappointed in any way shape or form! The food was outstanding! Delivered to the table in a timely manner (considering there was so many of us!). Every dish was perfectly presented and delicious. I'm still receiving comments from the guests on a fantastic choice of venue, due to the quality and taste of the food. The waiting staff were brilliant - very diligent and not overbearing. Nothing was too much trouble. The chef came out of the kitchen and it was a pleasure to thank him for such a great looking feast! The bar staff were amazing, keeping up with the constant demand for drinks, shots, wine and prosecco. The restaurant allowed me to decorate the tables with balloons and I took in a cake, which they kindly helped me to share with our guests. The evening was a brilliant success, enjoyed by everyone who attended. We will certainly be returning - just not all at once 😊

Nice friendly atmosphere and polite, helpful staff but honestly if you’re a curry lover, I would not recommend here. Tried two different curries which I wouldn’t rate any higher than a 4 out of 10, just so bland and tastless. The chapatis were hard and not appetising at all. Had a nice chicken starter but that was the best part about the whole meal. Usually happy to pay extortionate prices for a decent curry but unfortunately won’t be visiting again.

Perhaps the best Indian food I've ever eaten? At the very least it was food that was wonderfully prepared and curated on the plate like a piece of art. Flavours well balanced, good varied menu and a super naan bread. I wasnt hoping for much from this restaurant, but it exceeded my expectations. I would go out of my way to go back here.

What an exceptional place, and the food itself puts destination on the map for us. We had the mixed meat starter and a pickle tray to get us started. For mains the lamb biryani and railway lamb. Both exceptional in presentation and taste. The vibe of the restaurant is great and not too overbearing, the waiting staff are polite and attentive. Topped off with a conversation with the owners and chef, this elevated our dining experience. If you haven't been before, this is definitely a treat!

A real gem. You can tell the owner is incredibly passionate about their food, you can taste the love in it. The menu is filled with specialities you won't find in many other places. All of the staff are genuinely caring and beyond polite. The restaurant is spotless and the atmosphere is very inviting. A wonderful dining experience.

We have eaten at Destination multiple times over the years and the standard never falters. I do not know of any other restaurant (and I have tried hundreds) that maintains the absolute top standard on every single visit - how Sam and his team manage to provide 5 star food every single time is incredible. The food is without doubt Michelin star quality - but Destination is an experience too - the front of house staff are incredible - the whole restaurant operates like a finely tuned machine. The new menu has retained my wife's favourite Railway Lamb ; but has added some new favourites for me - a host of new paneer dishes for me to try. The menu also has a list of Vegan starters and mains. Just when you think Sam has produced the ultimate - he raises the bar even higher. We just wished we lived nearer because Destination is without doubt the best Indian restaurant by miles.

Very tasty food and excellent service. 23 of us were there from The Bradfordians curry club and we had various dishes ranging from vegetarian to meat and fish. Not one of us was disappointed with the food. We all had our favourites but mine is railway lamb. We will return! Ian.

Six of us ate here last Saturday, excellent food as always and lovely friendly service. My 95 year old Mum said it was superb and wants to go again soon.

Lovely meal for 3. One had garlic allergies which the staff jumped on, and were quick to point out menu items suitable. Chef came out and clarified exactly what was needed. This ensured a happy and relaxed meal with all the dishes being perfect. We'll be back!

Came here with family for my daughter’s 18th birthday. There were quite a few large parties in at the time celebrating birthdays as well as ours. We were lucky enough to share the thali feast with friends to help Sam & the team celebrate Destination’s 5th birthday. And what a feast it was! We had both the vegetarian and meat/fish thali options, and they were absolutely gorgeous. So pleased Sam and the whole team continue to delight us with amazing food and service, I look forward to seeing them all again soon, it never disappoints.

We were back at Destination last night for the Thali menu and it was extremely tasty! We have been a few times and the food is always amazing and the presentation perfect. The friendly team always deliver and Sam the chef came out to check everyone was enjoying his delicious food. It made my husbands night when the team sang happy birthday to me and presented me with a birthday cheesecake ☺️. Another great evening at Destination and we will definetly be back. Thank you.

This spot is one of the best curry houses I have ever been to attention to detail Food service hospitality, 2nd to none From entering the building, the warm welcoming of the staff cannot do enough for you everything is above and beyond. Your expectations. To top it you get a personal touch from the chef himself at the end of your meal, explaining spices culture and his creation of you coming to his restaurant

Another fabulous night!! Having been to Destination many times, we were excited to try the Thali Feast, only on for a short time to celebrate their 5th Birthday! We were a party of 6 and we all had it, two variations, as expected it was not only looked beautiful, it was a veritable taste extravaganza! After 3 previous visits with friends I finally took Mrs F to destination for her birthday and it landed over the 5 year Anniversary Thalia week. I firstly want to praise the chef for his humble and amazing attitude to customers on every visit I have made, second the front of house and serving staff have always adapted and made me feel welcome, and then finally there’s the food. This is the third time I’ve reviewed Destination. My first review was 5 years ago when I was initially wowed by the quality of the food. I’ve been a regular customer (but not regular enough) over the years, and it’s clear that Sam, Abira & the team have taken the time to perfect the whole dining experience. We were welcomed within 15 seconds of walking through the door, and service quality was friendly and knowledgeable. The quality of food matches only the best that Indian cuisine has to offer. Congrats to all who work at Destination, and may it continue to provide Slawit with its tasty goodness!

Went last night for the Thalia it was absolutely delicious and fantastic presentation staff amazing and friendly.... simply the best

I can't recommend Destination enough! We went tonight for their special Thali Feast meal and the food was incredible! Not only did it look beautiful but every dish was so delicious and it was so lovely to try a selection of different dishes. They were fantastic with catering for our different dietary requirements including gluten free! The staff are so friendly and the service is exceptional! We will definitely be returning!

Went there for their special Thali evening. The service was excellent. We each had specified issues with Gluten, vegetarian etc but they catered very well. The actual food was of an exceptional quality and each of the individual dishes in the Thali was very tasty. This is very good and totally recommend.

Thali event for the 5th birthday 🎁 Wow So I discovered destination in January and have since been 6 times the food is that good . Every time is a dining experience I never want to end up. The staff the ambience the owner the food all combined make this place special . If you havnt been get it booked and we were told tonight that the thali is going to be every three months a huge smorgasbord of divine Indian food cooked freshly to order and to finish the delectable carrot pudding which is to die for . Absolutely outstanding! We have been visiting Destination for the last 5 years…. The Thali we had this evening was a pure delight! Not one single complaint from the minute we arrived. Excellent service to a large group, delightful food… credit to the chef and his team but also to the front of house! Waitresses were very attentive, nothing was too much to ask and all done with a smile! Perfect way to celebrate our friend’s birthday. Also, very accommodating with children - our little one recommends the butter chicken 🤍

What an amazing find this is, we came here on Bank Holiday as a walk in and a table was instantly found for us. The Tikka Masala was absolutely delicious (so creamy), we all loved it. The chef coming out to ask if we enjoyed our meal was a nice touch too. One of the best Indian restaurants I’ve visited.

I don't usually write review but I feel I have to as we had such a fantastic experience in Destination tonight. The staff was just excellent, professional, quick to help, all in uniform and very friendly. Restaurant spotless and tables immaculate. The food was just amazing- the presentation, so full in flavours and spiced just perfectly. The lamb was so tender. Portions very generous. Best garlic naan and -eventho thats just minor- the chutney tray by far best i have ever tasted- fresh and full of flavours. It was my son's birthday and they brought amazing cheesecake completely complimentary with sparkle and usual singasong. Unfortunately we were too full for deserts. We felt really welcome and looked after with chef coming to see us too. Amazing food experience. Far best indian in the Huddersfield area. Really lovely.
