Tasty food and good atmosphere 😁

We had a lovely time at Ceylon Dosa, and were served by Mohammed. His service a was amazing and he helped loads. The food is tasty, and fresh. The only place i can think they can improve, is maybe spruce the place a little and improve decor. Food is great! Parathas exceptionally soft and delectable.

I recently ordered a feast from Ceylon Dosa, including chicken and mutton biryani, raita, and Kottu, and I was blown away! The biryanis were packed with flavor, with tender meat and fragrant rice. The raita provided a refreshing balance to the spices. And the Kottu was absolutely phenomenal! It was perfectly seasoned and incredibly satisfying. Each bite was a burst of deliciousness. Overall, a meal that exceeded my expectations in every way! 100% recommended.

Bought Sahaan on a Thursday. Never had it before. Was recommended by a friend. Really liked the food. Good portions. Accompaniments were also good. The aubergine, pineapple dishes.

Had a society event at my university on Thursday; our president went to pick up the food and all of our guests loved it, many tried kothu roti for the first time and were amazed by the taste 😁😁👍

Simple logic to follow here after my first visit did not go as much as I wished: Go for the non veg items since they seem freshly done, especially the porotta and dosa based items. On my first visit for dinner when I ordered uzhnu vada as starter, I could hear the microwave go alive. And when the dish came out it looked almost as if it was either made during lunch or made from a batch that's frozen and thawed as and when required. The chutney seemed spicy especially the non white ones. They like to make things spicy and do include both green chillies and white pepper as required to our taste. I would rate the non veg dishes as authentic spicy and not toned down. They are accommodating and welcoming. Please mention your spice level and how well done you like your meats. This is on the first floor so you need to use the stairway to go up so if you have mobility issues please be cognizant. Good luck

Awesome place for indian food test

Found this place by happy accident and so thankful. The food is incredible. Complex flavours blended to perfection. The freshest ingredients. Slowly working our way through the many vegetarian options and every new dish has been a delight. The best dosas and paneer we’ve ever tasted. Also recommend gobi65 and the cassava (wow). Lovely staff. If you like soul food that makes your heart sing you need to try this food.

Advertised cheap when you buy the price is not what it says portion are very stinjy and no where near as good as Harry's doesn't have that original Dosa taste and a rip off

Nice South Indian food, its a Sri Lankan restaurant offering dosa,idly,samber. Love thier devil chicken. Stuff very friendly and pleasant. Meat is all halal.

As in service wise the effort I could see by the girl but it wasn't good enough to cover the reputation of food being served. Me, my wife and my 7 year old reached the restaurant at 5pm. We waited at the reception and no one was there. We waited patiently and after some time this girl came, apologized and gave us the seats. We ordered Chilli Paneer, Paneer 65 and 2 paneer Masala dosa and except Chilli Paneer nothing was good. We had to change the dosa as it was soggy and when it came back the fresh it was the same the accompaniments were not fresh. Not sure if it was sambhar or the sauce they serve with Biryani. I decided to eat and leave this place in a rush as I couldn't understand what had gone so wrong that the chef couldn't prepare a simple Dosa dish especially when we were the only table hired. The entire restaurant was empty. I felt really bad because it was my third attempt to eat Dosa around my place and all failed terribly. The last time I had a good dosa was in Sarvana Bhavan in Harrow. I would sincerely request to Ceylone Dosa, It's ok to ask the customer to wait a bit but please serve a good meal so that they come back. And after Covid even a small kiosk keeps the card payment so having customers to pay in cash should be a choice.

Wow the food is next level 😋, we really enjoyed , spend some good quality family lunchtime. Staff are really good ,Service is fast . Highly Recommended for proper South Indian food especially for Tamilnadu flavours and spices.

Lovely little place. It may not look very attractive from outside but they do serve nice food, also the gentleman (who was handling service all by himself due to unexpected staff shortage) had an infectious smile on his face and was so patient and attentive throughout. It was practically a full house on a Friday evening but the service was commendable. About the food, we ordered sada and masala soda, boneless chilli chicken, chapati, fish fry, mutton biryani, idli. very basic food, but all freshly cooked and the taste was amazing. Served hot. The menu had limited options but that's fine as Ceylon Dosa impressed us with their food.

Incredible, authentic Sri Lankan food from a wonderfully friendly and endearing bunch of people. Makeen is a class act and treated me like a brother from the moment I walked in, it felt like home... went out of his way to have a good old chat with me and even put us in touch with other Sri Lankans in York (my wife is half Sri Lankan and we have missed that community since moving there). We drove all the way from York and ordered several days food as it's worth every minute, would drive further.

The sheff was very friendly, kind and approachable attitude. The food was delicious taste 😋. The service was very fast and warm hot. The food was light not heavy like for other restaurants. The curry wasn't oily, just a theak sauce which is very good and healthy. The portions are enough for one person can fill up. I recommend this place for those love eating and want to try different cuisine. The place was very clean and tidy. They have a wash hand ✋.

Lovely place tucked away just offf the main road and upstairs in this building. Had a delicious onion bhaji starter followed by paneer masala dosa. The food was very tasty and the staff were pleasant. Will be coming here again. Worth noting it is payment by cash or bank transfer.

Had a lovely meal at Ceylon Dosa. Hospitality was great. The interior design is beautiful with a relaxing Sri Lankan art wall. The menu offered a good varied selection and the presentation of our meal including the starter was beautiful, and all very delicious. Serving plates were warm :) We thoroughly enjoyed our meal.

From York I went to this restaurant to takeaway Kotthu for a party. The Kotthu was really amazing and tasty. The staff is really nice and the service on-time. I recommend it for everyone who wants to taste the real srilankan food.

It was awkward since the reception lady told us to sit at 3:25 pm and then later came to say that now they can only provide take aways. The restaurant was called beforehand to know the exact timings of closure on Sundays. It was communicated that the restaurant will close at 4pm in afternoon. We traveled from another town for a birthday celeberation which went highly unsatisfactory due to the poor communication. Although, we got the food and ate it cold at home. My son loves their food but in all, we would refrain ourself to visit there again.

A hidden gem. Different and delicious. Parked right outside. A charming and helpful young man served us and explained what the different dishes were. The best meal out we have had in ages. Only 30 mins from Shipley. We will definitely be taking our friends here once evening.

Unfortunately the food wasn’t up to scratch here. The potato in the masala dosa was very mushed and had a weird taste. The chicken 65 was decent but very expensive for the portion size. They used to be HMC, but are no longer HMC. However, the waitress did confirm they still use HMC suppliers. The customer service was good. On Street Parking. Accept card payments. The prices on the menu are very inflated for the type of restaurant it is.
