Went to have a lunch with someone I hadn’t seen for a while waited 30 mins for food which was fine, what wasn’t fine was a grey haired woman in the kitchen yelling tell those women to leave they have finished!!!! Maybe they need a sign saying table are only for 1 hour!!!!

No dietary requirement here, I’ll eat anything, but preferably a bacon roll (as we southerners call ‘em) washed down with a large cappuccino, and for me somewhere within easy walking distance of the train station so as to catch the connection back home. In that respect I couldn’t find fault with this café, situated in the Westgate Arcade, which provides it with outside tables but still under the cover of the arcade. Friendly efficient service levels and reasonable price levels. No faults found from me.

Visited with a fried and have been very ill ever since. I have dairy and gluten intolerances. I spoke to a lady there and informed her very clearly about my intolerances and we checked the mayonnaise tub to ensure I could have coleslaw. She said it was made at her home, slightly worrying. When my meal arrived the coleslaw tasted very tangy, like something had been added to zing it up or maybe make the ingredients go further, I don't know but my first thought was 'this coleslaw tastes like vinegar'. Not to be confused with what looked like a drizzle of balsamic vinegar on my salad which I didn't notice until it was too late, this contains grape must, grapes also make me very ill. Coleslaw should not taste of vinegar and it was probably the worst I've ever had. When I was ordering the lady boasted that many people who need gluten free bread re-visit the cafe, but catering for allergies and intolerance is so much more than that, it's checking every single tiny ingredient, not adding extra ingredients without checking for allergens, avoiding contamination, staff training, not assuming ingredients are ok, communicating effectively with all staff, being very serious about customers health and the consequences of making mistakes. They don't offer a milk substitute without gluten, so I had to have my tea black (yuck) and with it I was served a biscuit containing gluten, which I sent back. Proves no communication. Won't be visiting again!

Having visited a very busy Piece Hall we were struggling to find something decent to eat. Fortunately for us we came across this gem of a place. We were just in time to order the Full English Breakfast. It was excellent quality. Well cooked and served by a friendly and efficient team. On our next visit to Piece Hall we will certainly head here for a meal.

Called here as I knew the food was good from a previous visit last year but what a lovely surprise. It has been taken over and the food is even better ! We chose the peri peri chicken in a ciabatta and we were not disappointed. There was so much crammed in and served with a salad and coleslaw. The staff are very friendly and smiley. We will definitely be calling again.

Stepped by this week whilst exploring the fax for a quick cuppa and a bite to eat. Lovely and clean, very friendly staff who all fussed over our daughter. Had to ask about the loo, no problems but it was upstairs through the kitchen. Happy to return and happy to give it top marks.

Came for a coffee with my partner and felt that we were troubling the woman behind the counter for even being there. She never smiled once. Charging £1.60 for a can of sugar free pop is ridiculous when you can’t even be nice to your customers. Will not be returning and will not be recommending.

We received a Christmas gift of an afternoon tea at Deli-cious.We were very pleased with the offer, presentation and the service. The food selection was first class, very well presented and really far too much for two to eat.In fact we had to ask that they packed up half the offer to enable us to take away and enjoy again.Situated in a pedestrain area close to The Piece Hall a major attraction in Halifax. It has seating both inside and in the covered retail area.

We were in town and looking for somewhere to have lunch. Called in here. I didn't feel that was a nice welcome or any friendliness from either staff member. We had paninis - tuna melt - and they were decent. Unfriendly service seems to be a recurring theme for this place and it's a shame. Also, there was a lack of toilet facilities which isn't great.

Visited with my mum and 2 children. There were plenty of free tables I folded my small travel buggy down but was looking for a place to stand it, the staff just watched me (not a great atmosphere in there from the moment we walked in). After a couple of minutes we decided to leave. Obviously didn't need our custom. Most places would have suggested a place to leave it. Will stick to the friendly market in future.

I just can't get excited about this place. It is small and nicely decorated and clean. But the food is so bland and quite small portions. Amongst things I have eaten there, I have tried different home made quiches and they are all pretty awful to be honest, I can make much better myself. The menu is also uninspiring. Haven't noticed any gluten free options etc.Quite expensive for what you get. Only go in because my friend likes one of the paninis but not going to go with her next time.Staff nice enough.Really nothing to write home about - sorry.

Stopped for a bite to eat with my 2 young children and thought with the name of the cafe the food would live up to it. I was sadly disappointed. My Latte had more froth than liquid and the sausage, red onion and smoked cheese panini was also a let down. The sausage was a cheap one and I couldn't taste the smoked cheese, just the red onion.Lastly there were no customer toilets, I was offered the use of the staff toilets, through the kitchen and up the stairs, but didn't fancy taking my 2 young ones through the kitchen area.

The cafe I intended to go to was shut but it was 4.15 on Saturday afternoon so I wasn't too surprised. This cafe still had the board out but it was a little dark looking and there was no one in so I tried the door and said fron the door "hi. Are you open?" . The man behind the counter muttered something without looking up from whatever he was doing. I hesitated and he looked up so I repeated my question. He scowled and just said "yes". I ordered a latte and potato dippers. Mainly because it was on the specials and I wanted to order quickly because I felt like I was unwelcome. He never actually spoke to me or engaged except when asked a question to which I got one word answers and he never smiled. Only time he spoke to me was to ask what size latte I wanted. I went with the smaller one because I wanted to get out. He brought my latte and just plonked it in front of me with no comment. The lady from the kitchen brought my potato dippers. She was more friendly but not enough to make me want to go back. I have to add the caviar that the food and coffee were nice, good value for money and plentiful. I just didn't enjoy them because I felt so unwelcome. Two other ladies came after me so it wasn't that they were waiting for me to leave so they could close.I won't go back

We found this cafe while hunting for somewhere to eat during the Christmas street fair, it sits in a pedestrian are near an entrance to the fabulous indoor market. They have an extensive menu here, we had a 'posh fish finger sandwich' and a quiche, both were really good and substantial. There was a mix of locals and visitors eating and drinking. Service was fairly quick and friendly. They could use larger premises, it was tricky for customers and staff to move between the tight tables and they had no clear counter space to take payment.

Food was delicious but took a long time to arrive. Also had to clear the table from the last visitors ourselves as nobody came to clear it. Young lady serving was very polite but seemed rushed off her feet- felt bad for her as she obviously needed more support. Service at the till was awkward and lady in the kitchen was miserable. If there was more staff morale to create a more friendly atmosphere this place could be lovely as food was great.

I had a breakfast and when it came I have not seen such cheap sausages on a breakfast for a long time. I could not even compare them to anything I have seen in supermarkets. My mum and auntie had sandwiches which looked nice and were full of filling. Mum did say the toilets were not very nice and upstairs was very untidy. Service from lady out the front was nice but kitchen person that served us could have been friendlier. I would say have a sandwich but stay away from the breakfast.

Been here half a dozen times in the last couple of years, mainly due to nice location and decent selection of cakes. However, you constantly feel like you have entered in the middle of a lovers tiff between the couple that run it. Customer service is shocking and the woman is miserable beyond belief. All so awkward it's almost funny. Like I said, nice cakes though.

Ordered a cheese and mushroom burger that came with fries and salad with coleslaw all for only £5.95. My god it was gorgeous! Hot tasty and all fresh!! Highly recommend you visit! Don't bother with the cinnamon cafe next door, I find staff can be rude and on my last visit I was served a mouldy sandwich!!

Really good coffee and bagels taking you away from the usual coffee choices in a town centre. The cakes are all home made too. Around the cafe are shelves packed with treats to purchase and take home

What looks like a nice little bistro from the outside, is probably the worst eatery in Halifax. I popped in for brunch with a friend, and I was far from impressed. The service was average, the price would have been reasonable, had the food been to a satisfactory standard. I had a baked potato, which had a day old taste. The salad was dry and brown, and the ambiance is rather awkward.

We have patronised The Larder for over 5 years, visiting once per month when over in the area on business. On our last visit we ordered two teas as well as meals. I asked if my pot of tea could have an extra tea bag as I find their brand too weak for my taste. The waitress told me to let it stew a bit. I repeated that I would prefer two tea bags and if it was a problem on this occasion I was happy to pay for it. However when the bill came I was horrified that I had been charged £3.00 for the extra tea bag and was reluctantly refunded £l.50. Needless to say we will not be patronising the establishment again. I just hope the lady sat with her dog didn't dare to ask for a bowl of water for it.

A good wetherspoons pub, lots of seating options available, good food and the staff were nice and friendly. It's located in the town centre so it's good for either a couple of pre drinks before a show at the theatre or if you want a nice and cheap bit of grub before you go "out out"

Best cafe in Halifax, so underrated. Make the best sandwiches to order, with the best lattes I’ve ever had. I used to come here with family over past 20 years. I visited again this month after living in New Zealand for the last 7 years, did not disappoint. Their sandwiches are what I crave when I’m overseas. 😍
