We have visited here on many occasions while visiting Bradgate Park for hot chocolate and or sandwiches, but was VERY disappointed to discover that the cafe is now rated 'major improvement necessary' and has been given a ONE star hygiene rating. I find this disgusting considering how many people are served here daily, many of whom most likely have no idea how the place where their food is coming from is operating. The toilets near to the cafe & main entrance are always very dirty & smell / wet all over the floors too, which is such as shame as how lovely Bradgate Park is.

The overpriced cakes we had were very dry and disappointing. The cheese toastie one of us had was also not nice. The latte was probably one of the worst I’ve had. It was a cold very wet day and the only place to sit with a dog is outside. Would save money and not bother going again.

Popped in for a coffee and a toasted sandwich. Have not been for years but found the cafe underwhelming. Toasted sandwich ok and coffee ok but not great. Didn’t think layout was great in cafe either. Found staff to be friendly but I think it needs a fresh pair of eyes to revamp and maximise its potential. It was mid week and busy. Christ knows what it’s like at the weekend. A massive potential money spinner for the right people but could be expanded. Probs wouldn’t use again as would try the cafes at the Anstey entrance instead.

It has been sometime since we have walked all the way through Bradgate Park on the road, as normally walk over the top etc. However decided we would call in for a coffee/ bite to eat. we had been there before and it wasn’t great then but decided to give it another go - again bitterly disappointed. The choice is not immense at the best of times but we decided on jacket potatoes as it was 1.15 - only to be told - there are none left! Ok can we have hot sausage rolls then? No only serving cold ones today! The serving staff there are extremely unwelcoming, and not at all friendly - it’s almost as if you are a total inconvenience not even a hello and what can I get you ? - just merely ‘Yes’! The Deer Barn has a captive audience here and it’s appalling that this is the best it can offer!! Please can someone in authority take a close look at this - it surely can’t be difficult to implement vast improvements. In light of the above we gave it a miss and had a delightful lunch (hot tasty jacket potato) at The Old Post Office Newtown Linford where the staff were extremely pleasant and friendly! maybe you should visit them and take a leaf out of their book

It is what it is. A cafe you can stop off at following a walk through the park. Yes the service methods could be better but if it’s a quick drink and a rest you need then it’s adequate. I wouldn’t want to necessarily eat there.

They have a huge audience with little competition and a huge queue of people but with barely any choice of food. We arrived for lunch at 1.15 on a Saturday afternoon and all baguettes, paninis, meat sausage rolls were sold out. There was a handful of unexciting sandwiches left. I have given them two stars because the hot chocolate was very nice. It is such a shame, such a great spot, with plenty of potential.

Following a lovely sunny day walk in the park and looking forward to tea and cake at the deer barn tearoom (icing on the cake). The menu was very limited especially the choice of cakes. The service and atmosphere not very inviting, the once cosy environment now just benefits from the natural scenery only - I know covid may have played a part but this could still have been incorporated into blending in with the beauty of the park as well as being hygienically practical. After coming here for a number of years, finding it sadly disappointing.

Takeaway service currently available. Quite a queue at the Deer Hut but it was a bright, dry day so to be expected. Hot chocolates were good, however the waffles were not fresh (just popped in a toaster) so very overpriced in my opinion and would give them a miss in future.

We visited your tearoom yesterday with our dog. It clearly states on the Website that dogs are welcome inside the tea room. Upon arrival we discovered that they only allow guide dogs and service dogs inside. Having to eat outside our food soon got cold, which was a bit disappointing. It would be helpful if you could alter your Webpage to suit this and stop disappointing dog owners.

I visited the cafe this morning with my family during a bike ride, we stopped for hot drinks and breakfast for my young son. I ordered a tea which came and when pouring the tea, white bits were left floating in the cup. I was unsure if this came from the milk, cup or pot so queued up to see if the pot could be changed. After waiting a asked a waitress who had served some food and before I had explained the issue she snatched the cup out of my hand asking what is was in the cup, to which I advised I didn’t know. She stormed into the kitchen and returned with a new jug of milk. No fresh cup and an empty pot of tea. I asked her for a fresh pot and cup and she returned walked off and returned with a fresh cup. At this, my partner explained the tea pot was almost empty using it on the first cup I had returned and asked for a fresh pot. She walked away and another member of staff came over. We explained the situation and she provided me with another pot of tea, no apology. Overall the service was poor. Very rude, unhelpful staff with other customers even commenting on the rudeness of the member of staff. I will not be in a rush to return.
