Nice local pub. Drinks a bit expensive but it is Dartmouth.

We've had a drink here before, but this was our first time for food and we will definitely be back!!! It was late afternoon and we had just the seat, right next to the bar, up high and with a view of the river our to sea! A nice San Miguel and Dry Rosé kicked us off and then for the food.... A Chicken Curry which hit the spot and a fiery chilli with chips and baguette! Just the job, awesome flavour and devoured like you could eat it again! Great atmosphere, lovely service and you feel like you could sit there all day! Thanks for a fab afternoon of food and drink!

As usual a pleasant experience. August Sunday lunch times always very busy but much quieter after Regatta time. Not an extensive menu, but enough choice. The fish and chips are always well cooked and nicely served but portion sizes are a bit small than last year, still enough to split 1 meal between 2 (2 meals to much for us a lunch time). Would be nice though if the second plate requested was warm, hey ho. Very friendly, helpful staff, always offer to start a tab for you (presumably only if eating in). Reasonable choice of real ales (Dartmoor Brewery would be a wonderful addition). Always well worth a visit

Nice pub on the seaside front. Pet friendly and good ales and food. The atmosphere was very inviting and had a good character feel to it.

We went twice to eat here and the food was excellent. First time I had a large fish with chips and peas and secondly a very tasty burger with chips , salad and coleslaw. Both meals were excellent. Pub has a good atmosphere and was packed so booking is advised

Food great here, but very busy 9 times out of ten. Have tried to book a table here 4 times now. The website does not work. Popped in, in person twice, not worked. The male member of staff did not know how to process another one needed a password to process. He tried to get hold of the owner. But failed. I tried to ring 3 times, but no body would answer only to be cut off. Do you not want our business. Waste of time. Shame!

The atmosphere, service, food and drinks were really good however the gents toilet let you down. The smell wafting out reminded me of a badly cleaned/maintained public toilets

I had the displeasure of dealing with The Dartmouth Arms recently, and it was an absolute nightmare from start to finish. My partner and I had made a reservation earlier in the day, enticed by the lovely photos online. But when we arrived, we were shocked to find the place looking and smelling like a complete dump. It was so bad that we couldn't even bring ourselves to step inside. To spare the owners and staff from hearing the brutal truth, we called to cancel instead. It was a busy time, and we canceled a few hours before our reservation, thinking that would be the end of it. But no, this was just the beginning of the ordeal. Later on, I was shocked to find a £40 cancellation fee charged to my card. This fee was never communicated when we booked or when we canceled. What had been communicated was a ‘no-show’ charge, but since we canceled, I thought we were in the clear. When I called to inquire, I was told, “the owner decided he wants to charge you.” That’s it. No reason, no explanation, just the owner whimsically deciding to take money for absolutely nothing. Given some of the other reviews I've seen, I can only assume this was a ploy to fund another one of the owner’s “sessions,” as it seems he has a reputation for that. This is a deplorable way to run a business—scamming customers with hidden fees and treating them like cash cows. The Dartmouth Arms is a substandard establishment with despicable business practices. I strongly recommend avoiding this place at all costs. Save your money, time, and dignity by going somewhere that actually respects its customers.

Family of 5 had pre booked . Lovely and cool on a hot day . Good food but service outstanding staff could not have been more helpful

Nice pub, they give you plastic glasses so you can sit outside in Bayards Cove and enjoy the view of the River Dart.

This excellent pub serves delicious food, at excellent prices, in a beautiful setting. The staff very nice too. Visit and enjoy.

We got a table as soon as we went in. Ordered from the bar and was served in 20mins. Blue burger hadn't too much blue cheese or garlic flavour. Sea basket was plenty for one person and tasty.

Called in for some drinks. Arrived just before 2200 and barman said that he would be stopping serving shortly. Forty minutes later, he was still serving drinks! We sat in the back where the ceiling is low.

Found this pub walking around Dartmouth. We stopped for lunch, a pint and a pizza, both very nice. Great location, lovely atmosphere and friendly bar staff. Would happily stop there again and highly recommend.

Visited whilst on holiday. We found it to be the best pub food in Dartmouth. Home made and great quality. Home made pizzas were lovely, the Cajun chicken burger and the seafood platter were too. Staff were friendly and welcoming, definitely worth a visit ( or like us, several!)

This is a really nice little bar, tucked away at the end of town. Food was decent - seafood sharer and fries perfect for two for a light lunch, but the visit was made for us by the excellent customer service (22/5). Will happily recommend to anyone

Ate here for lunch on a weekend trip down south. Food was incredible and worth every penny. Menu was varied with lots to choose from. The crab cakes and cheesy garlic bread were highlights for us! A real cosy pub feel with a great selection of drinks. Perfect for all the family!

This is truly a very nice pub! Small and very local, proper cosy atmosphere! Dog friendly. The food is great and they provided kind service. Great variety of drinks and delicious local ales! Strangely, it seemed our dessert order was forgotten as it took ages to come; it arrived eventually and it was complimentary due to the mistake...thank you guys! Highly recommend!

I had a roast dinner here back in September and it was absolutely gorgeous. I am quite fussy with my roast dinners that says a lot! The staff were lovely and there was a nice cosy atmosphere. Would definitely come back if I was in the area!! :)

Good food. We enjoyed the seafood basket ( although a little overpriced for the amount you get) and the potato leak soup.

Great pub, great food. Great Staff who even remembered you had come in the day before. Dogs allowed and met a couple of local fishermen who added to the entertainment with brilliant stories. Great few hours spent will be back.

Dog-friendly inside which is great, it’s a fairly tiny pub, we were here when it was quiet so tables were easy to get. Good service, the meat pizza was stacked, and pub has character. I think prices were a little higher than I’d like or expect but what can you do, you want places to stay in business right?

We decided to pop to The Dartmouth Arms today, 17/07/23, for a bite to eat. The pub was lovely, the staff were very friendly and accommodating. My beer was cold and my meal which was one of the days special, Skate, was absolutely superb! My wife had the Pork Belly special which was also beautifully cooked and presented. I am a visitor on holiday from Birmingham and would recommend this pub. p.s. if you're tall like me, watch your head, that said it adds to the charm!

Ok, tricky one this. Love this pub and been coming for years as a visitor. (Not a local) But couple of evenings here (august 2023) with food and to be honest not like it used to be. They do a great pizza no question. But getting the right food you ordered is a challenge. (Both visits and for those around us) Then there is the service. You gonna wait ages to get a drink or order. (Staff just disappear) Then the real kicker...staff member with apron on uses toilets and leaves without any hand washing...ok I am hoping he was heading back to a designated hygiene area. Hope you can sort this stuff out but not coming back until you do.

I'm a bit picky regarding pizzas, but the one I had here was as good as any I've had for a long time. Great staff too.

Always loved a trip to the Dartford Arms. Good food and friendly atmosphere. One problem as a non drinker due to driving, I ordered a pint of lime with soda. £2 which I thought was a bit expensive, however the barlady then said ' sorry I've only charged for a half pint it should be £4 ' it probably cost 40p to make. So much for trying to be good and not drink and drive.

We had a lovely lunch when we were in Dartmouth for a few hours. Service was very good. Nice position by the harbour.

We've just had the most amazing experience, drinks, food and hospitality second to none. Highly recommend their lava steaks, cook it yourself, absolutely delicious all set in a stunning location! Only 5 stars? Deserves 10!

Made this our local as it was closest to us for the week there. The ales and ciders, the service, and the food were all very good.

Only a 5 star because they don't go up to 10. This place was amazing. Firstly, great local, welcoming atmosphere. Super friendly staff, and the pub itself is just cosy. Then there's the service, we ordered a Pizza, burger and haloumi fries. It came so quick I thought it must have been pre-cooked and reheated or something. Not even close. This was freshly cooked, to perfection. Even the salad tasted amazing (and I rarely eat salad). The pizza was perfect, golden brown, no black or burning anywhere, no soft outer crust, but soft inside. The cheese was perfectly melted. The haloumi fries were soft inside and crispy on the outside and no grease. My fiance said they were the nicest haloumi fries she's ever had. The sauce was amazing. The peri chicken burger? Like an orgasm in my mouth. I have no other way to describe it. I felt like I had died and gone to heaven. I don't know how to say perfect again without it sounding like I am just repeating myself. I'll definitely be back.

One of the oldest bars in dartmouth. Do go there for a visit. The food is good. Try the pizzas they have to offer.

Great Pub . Situated on the Edge of the Estuary.

It had a really nice atmosphere and was dog friendly. They also gave my dog a treat that was nice!! If you are looking for a good pub I would highly advise you came here.

Low-key, cosy pub with a nice chilled atmosphere, a 5 minute walk from the bustling town centre. You could read a chapter of a book here. Respectful and efficient staff, and a view over the water from one end.

Love little pub, it is hidden away. When you go in it is very cozy. Just outside there is benches along the waters edge and this is where we sat and enjoyed the view.
