Don’t listen to the negatives! Me and my friend came here today and it was a lovely experience; a clean shop, friendly staff who even during the rush were helpful and quick with service. I had a double espresso (my best in a long while, it was warm and tasty) and my friend had a latte. The coffee was excellent! Both of us enjoyed a slice of millionaires shortbread which was tasty too. It’s truly a pleasant spot, would come again and heavily recommend!

Dropped in here for an espresso whilst waiting for my wife who was visiting the dentist next door. One of the worst cups of coffee I’ve ever drunk. Tepid and horribly bitter.

Appalling behaviour by the owner. We visited daisys cafe with our parents, children and baby as we have done many times. We ordered coffees and I sat down to breastfeed my baby on the outdoor chairs. After looking at the limited menu my children decided they wanted chips from next door and a cake from the coffee shop for later. A member of staff came over and said that we had to leave because the children were eating chips whilst I was still breastfeeding my baby and we were having coffee. My parents explained that we were still drinking coffees and that we would order a cake. The lady seemed fine and went back in. All of a sudden another lady came out and said that the owner wouldn’t allow it and they were sorry but we had to leave. We said we would but the children were just finishing their food and our coffees and I was still breastfeeding. My father was so shocked he said then provide a refund which they did after stating that next door chips could make us ill which was very strange behaviour. All of a sudden the owner came out screaming at my 6 year old to leave and making her cry. The owner said the other members of staff were upset which was an excuse as staff had blamed the owner. Her behaviour was embarrassing and rude. After reading other comments I have realised this is a pattern. Shocking treatment of previously very loyal customers also a 6 year old who was asking why was that lady so mean.

I had booked my car in for maintenance @ a local business, & while I waited I took advantage of Daisy’s Coffee Shop . Well , they looked after me really well @ different times throughout the day , & it was a pleasure to support their business , which @ lunch time was very busy .....So when in Winterbourne , go to Daisy’s for your light bites , etc . For groups I would say 20+ is a comfortable number during COVID-19 restrictions , especially having to eat outside. When things return to normal then 30 + might be possible.

Queued, order took but girl was not interested asked me 3 times what I wanted even though I had just asked for a coffee, a tea, a bacon and a sausage sandwich?? I did enquire about the orange juice and if it was made from concentrate as I wanted fresh she said we do carton or bottle ..... and then the conversation stoped. The girl did not say anything else, just presented with a bottle of orange juice to look myself - it was made from concentrate, so I asked about the carton she did the same ... all this time no eye contact just looked over my head ? I opted not to have the orange juice because I did want fresh. We sat down and then we moved as there was a big family table behind and I didn’t have much room. So we moved, the table we went to had dirty plates left and the whole time we queued and then moved tables it was still left. I moved the dirty crockery to behind the counter and no one batted an eyelid! I informed the girl we moved but still our drinks went to our original table 10 mins later. The waitress just casually said “ I wasn’t told anything “.There was another table next to us a family of 4 who ordered various breakfast dishes. We then got the dishes presented to our table, avocado, eggs on toast, beans in toast etc. We politely said “sorry that’s not for us.” The table who yeh food was food were quite acidic to the young waitress and said “ that’s ours !!” When our food did come 40-45 mins later ... it was insipid, barely warm and my partners sandwich had avocado all over it?? He literally had 2 dried up pieces of bacon in his. I had what could only be described as 2 albino sausages, no taste and looked beyond budget. We were never asked if our food was ok, not even brought napkins. We are our sarnies as we were hungry and had waited long enough. We will not be revisiting or would recommend

Conveniently located in Winterbourne village and only cafe on the street. Albeit lunch time and not very busy three tables with cups and mugs were not cleared. I was at cafe for about half hour and they were not cleared. I was there waiting for a friend. I ordered a coffee and was told they only accept card payment with orders over £5. I don’t normally carry cash with me. Luckily I had a few pound coins with me.

Very disappointed, I went into daisy coffee shop and asked for a bacon sandwich and went to pay by card only to be told it’s a minimum £5 spend, so would have to make my order up to £5.I was horrified to hear that they charge £1.50 for a CAN of coke! After rounding my order up to the necessary £5 I sat down where I was presented with a 2 half heartedly buttered slices of bread and 2 cold and frazzled rashers of bacon! Would recommend going to the bakery next door instead!

Had breakfast here, was quite expensive and tea or coffee not included. Very nice bacon but poor quality sausages and hash browns. Staff seem a bit edgy as well. Would return for convenance but would not make a special trip. It’s nice for the community but not something the rest of us would venture too far for.

Met with my mum and sister for a morning coffee. My sister had made the mistake of bringing my mum a packet of her favourite biscuits (family joke) which were sitting on the table when our coffees arrived. Staff obviously thought we were about to eat them as there were some disapproving looks and hushed conversation amongst two younger staff members. As we were chatting one of the younger staff came to our table to say (rather rudely) we were not allowed our own food in the coffee shop. We all explained they were for mum to take home to which she replied 'Good' before walking off. We were left feeling rather uncomfortable. Had we not already got drinks we would have chosen to go elsewhere. Real shame as seems a nice place but so badly let down by attitude and customer service presented by the staff. Sat in amusement as the other young staff member stood yawning at the cash register in between customers, saying how tired she was and how late she had been up the night before (!)

Disappointing visit for a quick and easy lunch. Ordered what should have been simple, filled, jacket potatoes. Food arrived and my partner's was luke-warm (at best), cheese had not melted at all. Napkins provided were damp and fell apart. No condiments, such as mayonnaise, were offered for the salads. Sent both meals back because of the temperature of my partner's but decided to get a food refund instead as we were on a bit of a time-scale. Paid for the drinks we had had and got a refund for the luke-warm food without any dramas - no complaints there. Overall, spoiled our planned quick and tasty lunch. Wouldn't go here for food or drinks again sadly.

My fourth time and, as a coeliac, cannot fault the customer service and quality of food. The lovely girls are friendly and attentive without being overly so. They have accommodated my dietary needs brilliantly, providing an array of off-menu choices which are varied and appetising. Portions are extremely generous without compromising the standard of fare on offer. BYO keeps the cost down (there's an 'offy' two doors down if one should run out of liquid refreshment). This is excellent, quality food served with a personal touch in a cosy environment. Will be back soon!

My dad raves about this place, endlessly. If he could eat here every night then he would. Its close to his house so he took me last week for dinner.Well, for starters the girls are great. They really make this place what it is,and thats why all the locals keep going, along with the good food of course.Every time I walk past its heaving, but Thursday nights, right now is the only night Daisys is open for dinner. You bring a bottle of wine and enjoy eating from their homely menu.If you go,its probably best to not eat for a day before because the portions are huge and I mean larger than life and you probably will have three courses because they are just so reasonably priced.I started off with the prawn cocktail, moving on to the fishcakes, boy they were good.I think one would have been enough but there were 2 and they were huge.I felt like saying I wanted to take one home but it was too late, I had already eaten it.They were beyond delicious. To be honest the prawn cocktail wasnt as good but the fishcakes and dads dessert more than made up for it.I am looking forward to next thursday!

This café is a real bonus to our village serving drinks hot and cold, snacks and small meals, especially breakfast. My treat is to have a mocha hot drink with cream, not good for me but delicious. Normally open daytime only, they have recently started doing meals on a Thursday evening which I am told is very successful with BYO drinks, you have to book for this. It is a great meeting place for a chat and a coffee and Mums with babies are welcome, as well as a meeting place for all ages. Average prices for everything and I can vouch for their lunchtime jackets, excellent. If you are in the area give it a try, it is where the shops are on Flaxpits Lane.

We had been on a fairly long walk and were looking for a cafe / restaurant rather than a pub to eat and drink. We stumbled on this delightful cafe. It was very busy but we just found a table for two. Our order was taken and the waitress explained that there would bed some delay as the were just dealing with a large group. This was no problem as our drinks arrived promptly. After about twenty minutes our food arrived. My companion thought that her scone was one of the best she had eaten and my pannini was equally as good. there is a pretty extensive menu for a small concern. the staff are friendly and there is a good atmosphere inside. There are, arguably, two reasons to visit Downend. One is on a summer’s afternoon to watch Downend CC play cricket with the bar in full swing and plenty of boundaries being scored as the ground is relatively small; the other is to pay a visit to Melanie’s Kitchen. This delicatessen shop is a positive cornucopia of cheeses, bakery items, biscuits, chutneys, artisan breads etc etc. The man who serves at the cheese counter (who I assume is not Melanie!) is a fountain of knowledge on local cheeses and knows all of the local cheese producers, when their cheeses are at their best and is happy to provide advice to ensure that you will leave well satisfied having enjoyed a sensory and culinary experience second to none. It’s full marks from me.
