Currydor has the best Indian food I have had in Oxford, and it's not just the food which makes this place what it is, it is the hospitality exuded by the owners, Rizwan uncle and Lajja Aunty, which makes Currydor the best Indian restaurant in all of Oxford. As a student, whenever I miss home, I just go to Currydor and the atmosphere there is so wholesome and homely that Currydor, for me, is much more than just a restaurant - it is a home away from home <3. Edit: Just went there again because I was craving Chole Bhature, Samose and Lassi, and as a Delhiite, it relieves me to know that there's a place that would satiate that craving!

What a lovely experience. The food is of the highest quality and taste of any curry place in Oxford. This is achieved through the diligent nature of the host. We booked a table for 8 and each person was consulted on their preferences for the items ordered. If you are going to eat in do book as it has limited space. But takeaways are an option. If eating in and you want a drink bring your own as alcoholic drinks are not available. Would definitely eat here again when in Oxford.

We have lived in West Oxford for over 50 years, for some reason we have never been to Currydor!! Last night we went with my elderly mum and my brother. The food is all freshly cooked and delicious. We all enjoyed the food, very generous portions, we took the leftovers home. This restaurant is small and cosy feels like your eating in someone's home. It's nothing fancy and doesn't have a licence, we took our own drinks, they charge 10% on top of your food order. Overall lovely friendly experience, will definitely be back with family members soon.

We chose this place based on the positive reviews for an authentic curry, and we were not disappointed. The room only has about 10 tables and the the owner and his wife will greet you personally from the kitchen. The menu is well stocked and the food is freshly prepared on order, so don't expect it to come out in 10min. My wofe had a chicken curry with fresh tomatoes, and I had a lamb and lentil curry. Both were outstanding. We will definitely be back to try some more.

Currydor is a wonderful discovery, out of the centre of Oxford, off the Botley Road,, that specialises in fresh-cooked warm-spiced food, in authentic style, with an extra mix of warm-hearted people. It's a family business where now many locals come to enjoy the extended family vibe. But be careful! I came once 5 years ago, and got addicted, coming in, at least twice a month, since then!. On weekends many diverse faces from across Asia to enjoy the cuisine, as do many Europeans. I call it 'the warm heart of Oxford". A great stop for tourists. A second home for some. Because the food is cooked fresh, it takes slightly more time to come to your plate. But the slight additional wait is worthwhile as many other fans know. And I love the mango lassi!

Currydor is family. Being Indian, we fondly call the owners, "uncle" and "aunty" - terms of endearment usually reserved for extended family members. And the simple reason that we call them so: they are indeed family. Uncle and aunty don't just feed me - they feed me from a place of love. Apart from their genuinely compassionate hospitality, they serve the very best Punjabi food and are oh so accommodating to the needs of customers. Despite having a heavy non-vegetarian menu, they literally changed the menu to accommodate my vegetarian requests. I vividly remember loving the fragrance of the Badshahi dum pukt biryani - a meat dish - and the caring individuals uncle and aunty are, they decided to make me a vegetarian variety. It was and is and always will be sublime. I love this place to such a great degree that when my mother came over, I brought her here to show her my family away from family. Like in many cultures, the rituals surrounding food in South Asia builds family and strengthens family. And to me, that's what the owners of Currydor do. Tucked away in west Oxford, uncle and aunty at Currydor build and strengthen family. Food recommendations: biryani, biryani, and more biryani. halwa. the malai kofta. the sesame naan. of course, the raita. and with that, more biryani. P.S. Please don't go for takeout if you have the opportunity. Spend some time eating, living, laughing, and celebrating at Currydor with uncle and aunty.

Would definitely recommend trying this place out, and I assure you Currydor will no doubt become your favourite Indian Restaurant. # It might a bit further away from city centre and it would be easier to just get the food deliveroo'd , but please do go in for Indian food served the Indian Dhabha way - Big plates of tasty main dishes :) This is exactly how we do it in India :P Food recommendations: Badshahi Dum Phukt Biriyani (Chicken/ Lamb), Desi Karahi Chicken/Paneer with Sesame Naan, Tarka Daal with jeera rice (Must Try- If you ever wanna get over your home sickness- this is the cure) and the Halwa (sweet dish- a little bowl of perfect celebration). If you view Currydor as just another Indian restaurant, you will be grossly mistaken. I first visited Currydor in 2016. I was pleasantly surprised to find out that the menu is a full kaleidoscope of Punjabi gems. Every dish is cooked freshly on the spot. The curries themselves are subtly rich. The signature ‘pink’ Kashmiri tea is the best anywhere you can possibly ask for on the British Isles. I later moved out of Oxford, but all I can say is that I’ve been coming back to Currydor the next seven years or so. And there’s more to the food. The owner of the family-run restaurant Rizwan is exceptionally kind and friendly. Safe to say, I have reserved a special space in my heart for Currydor.

Let's start with the positives: the food itself was nice - a couple of the dishes (e.g. Chicken tikka and bhindi) were outstanding - very traditional Pakistani cooking. But not worth that kind of wait and poor service. Also, note that it is bring your own booze for those who drink, which has its advantages. Sadly the place is let down by the shockingly poor dinner last night. Our group arrived at 8pm, the waitress waited ages to take drinks orders and then even longer to bring then. We then had to ask multiple times for 20 minutes until our starter order was taken. Then the chef patron came out 20 minutes after that to reconfirm what the waitress had written down and said "okay now I'll start cooking them". So no food, not even poppadoms, until 9pm. And they flat out refused to take main course order until the starters were served, even though I asked him and the waitress a combined 6 times persistently. So main courses didn't arrive until close to 10pm. He complained that this was why they pre-order the food for large groups - yet he was the one who had taken my reservation for 8 people and mentioned nothing of the sort. When it came to paying, we simply asked him in Urdu if it had all squared up and he barked back sarcastically "well I've split the bill and done the payments as you told me to". Warmer, more efficient service would do the food justice.

I have never written a bad review and feel bad for doing so, especially considering the good reviews we had seen, but I felt the need to share our takeaway experience with Currydor. We ordered a Butter Chicken curry and Vindaloo curry, both of which were absolutely drenched in oil; they had a very thick layer of oil on top and even after attempting to remove it with several sheets of paper towels, the curry was still flooded with oil and was unfortunately inedible. The prices were higher than the majority of Indian takeaways, but the portion sizes were incredibly small. The chicken was tough and bland, the rice was hard and clumped together, the naan was tasteless and burnt, and the mint sauce tasted like vinegar. My partner and I are great fans of Indian food, and perhaps it was a bad night for the restaurant, but this was the worst we have ever had.

I expect that if you live in the area you like coming here. The owner seems to know his customers. If you come here as a stranger you might tend to walk through at first. At least if you go here for a fancy diner based on the positive reviews score. The establishment looks small and simple. Not like a ‘fancy diner’ restaurant. But don't let that stop you. Walk in here. And be positively surprised. The owner comes up to you and (my impression) has a nice dish to sell you that suits you. making money doesn’t seems to be the owner's main motive but quality of food, fair treatment and customer focus. How wonderful. I wish I did live near here. Then I would also be someone who the owner would know if I walked in ;). I’m a fan of heat, no doubt. I enjoy growing my own chillies. But their butter chicken (which I ordered as a mild meal as I have a sore throat) was off-the-charts-hot. I had even selected the “mild” option from their heat level options, as this was a takeaway. Furthermore, the portion size is very small, with perhaps 6/7 chunks of tiny chicken pieces barely bigger than dice and 5 measly pieces of paneer in my saag paneer side (usually this would be 50/50 paneer/saag, as you would expect at any other establishment). Neither myself or my partner finished our meals. As someone who eats out frequently, the quality of the food is generally wholly average to poor, I am sorry to say, and so I would not eat from here again… even if I wanted to have a meal with high heat. Overpriced for what you get. First experience here, and the last. Avoid.

I really love currydor due to of my experiences . First, is being a vegetarian once the order got mixed up and aunty immediately called me and I was notified of the exchange which was very kind of them . Their food is excellent and prices are very reasonable for a student like me. They also sometimes pamper me with treats such as extra sweets during Eid as I am a regular customer . I would highly recommend that people try out this place and have great food . Cheers!!

You could easily pass by this bijou corner curry restaurant without really noticing it. However step inside and you will find the most amazing authentic cuisine. Everything is cooked fresh at the time of ordering - slow food at its best. Expect to while away the time with freshly made poppadoms light as a feather and definitely not uniform as you often find in other curry restaurants. Choose from a selection of mouth watering starters all cooked fresh to order. Then the main event, and because it is all cooked to order you can specify how spicy you want your main dish. Choose any of the curries on the menu and you will be served succulent chicken or tender lamb. They do not use mutton here it is all lamb meat. The naan bread freshly made was so light it was like eating clouds. This is a small restaurant possibly around a third of the tables compared to your usual curry house. It is also very popular so I would advise you always book, however if there is room walk ins are also warmly welcomed. It has a real family feel as if you were in Auntie’s front room. Enjoy chatting with family and they are more than happy for you to chat with them in the kitchen while they cook. Do not pass this one by.

I love this place! It is the best Pakistani/indian restaurant in Oxford. The owners are always friendly and welcoming. All the dishes they produce are specially made for you, so you can chose your level of spices. Lamb, fish and vegetarian dishes are delicious, but the most mouthwatering thing they have is the Peshawari nan. I have try many different Peshawari nans in different places, but this... With the nan FILLED with coconut and cardamom is absolutely EXTRAORDINARY! the best in the UK. Try it if you don't believe! They are always busy, therefore, they may take a bit of time, but the results is worth the wait!! My friend and I come always we meet and If you don't know what to chose. They recommendations are always super good and tasty. Their portions either dinning in or take way are more than enough for make you feel completely full.

Excellent service and the most delicious food this evening. Everything was so fresh and perfectly cooked. If you want personal service, family atmosphere and the best naan bread I’ve ever tasted, go to Currydor.

Whilst the outside of the restaurant looked a little dubious, we were really impressed with the attention we received. The lady who served us explained the dishes and options in detail and obviously was proud of the restaurant. The food was freshly cooked to order...

We had a delicious dinner for 8 at Currydor. My daughter had asked the owners beforehand to choose dishes for our group. The food was so good, we ended up ordering more even though we were full! The chicken Biryani was the best I have...

Got a home delivery, there was more oil than food in the dishes. Tasted like something I’d never order again.

Came here on a weekday for a business lunch, and even though they are clearly undergoing some refurbishments, we were not especially impressed with the food -I've been coming here on and off for over
