Curry Adda in Oxford

Tucked away between the Britannia and Royal Standard pubs in Headington, this restaurant is easy to miss, but well worth seeking out. With a hotel attached, it offers a cosy and inviting atmosphere. We opted for a two-course meal, and overall, it was a very enjoyable experience. My main dish was a bit salty for my taste—I tend to prefer very unsalted food—but it was still delicious and well-prepared. Everything else was spot on, from the starters to the sides. The beer selection could use a bit of improvement, though with two pubs just next door, that's not a big drawback. The service stood out, with our waiter being friendly, attentive, and never overbearing. All in all, we left satisfied and would happily return for another meal.

Everything from the entrance is very welcoming. The food is very homely and the flavors are quite good. The food tastes wonderful. We went twice and experienced the same welcome from the staff and everyone else. Worth it!

The samosa was good that its plate has two pieces. The chicken tikka does not have enough seasoning. I do not recommend. The service was quite poor. We wanted the starter sooner than the main. However, it comes with the meal. We asked for one more glass, the first waitress forgot! I asked the second one, it took 15 mins to bring it. I asked for the bill from 3 persons. In total, I waited around 30 mins only to get my bill and pay it.

The best place to have (Indian) meal in the Oxford. Both host are warm and welcoming. Will be visiting in every trip of mine

Amazing service very friendly and the food was delicious.

I went with my friend for dinner. We were welcome and offered to sit next to the window. We enjoyed the food and hospitality. The plates are generally large and flavourful! I ordered Vegetarian Biryani, couldn't finish it all and had it for lunch the next day. The Mango Lassi was also very good! I will come back again for sure!

Loved our experience here! The service was stellar, really on top of making sure we had what we needed and then some. The chai (traditional Indian) and my tandoori salmon were outstanding! My husband and son both greatly enjoyed their dishes as well. Absolutely recommend and would go again!

HORRIBLE PEOPLE! HORRIBLE FOOD! I CALLED TO SPEAK WITH THE MANAGER AFTER RECEIVING A FOOD ORDER WITH MISSING ITEM'S. I WAS LAUGHED AT BY THE MANAGER AND TOLD, I MUST BE NEW TO DELIVEROO BECAUSE THEY STOLE MY FOOD AND IT'S WHAT THEY DO! I WAS MOCKED FOR MY NAIVETY, NOT KNOWING DELIVEROO DRIVERS ARE KNOWN FOR HELPING THEMSELVES TO CUSTOMER'S ORDERS! I SPENT AROUND £50 FOR FOOD THAT WASN'T FIT FOR CONSUMPTION. ONE OF THE DISHES I ORDERED WAS BUTTER CHICKEN WHICH IS AN INDIAN CLASSIC AND FAVE... WHEN I CALLED TO ASK WHY THE DISH WASN'T COOKED IN A CASHEW SAUCE, I WAS TOLD WE DON'T USE CASHEWS WE JUST ADD BUTTER TO THE CHICKEN DISH HENCE. .. THE OTHER DISHES WERE NOT TASTY AND SUBSTANDARD TOO. I REGRET ORDERING FROM CURRY ADDA. IT'S THE 1ST AND LAST FOR ME! THEY ALL NEED TO RETRAIN IN CUSTOMER SERVICE. Great food and service... A rarity in Oxford!

Lovely food and lovely staff ! Really enjoyed it.

Travelling up from Goodwood we decided to stop off for the night in Oxford and found this little gem of a restaurant. We were made very welcome and the food was delicious, fully recommended.

What a personal experience. We had been travelling all day, we were all very tired. The front of house was so attentive to us. They helped with our choice of dishes. We was sat down with drinks popadoms and a pickle try whilst we waited for our takeaway to be prepared and cooked fresh. The food we received was so tasty! I could not recommend this restaurant enough. We will definitely return again when we visit Oxford.

We ordered a takeaway from Curry Adda and were not disappointed. Each dish was delicious and the portions were generous. Even better … they made a small mistake with the order and when we phoned to tell them, they were out with a replacement in no time at all. We will order again soon!!

Absolutely loved it here one of the best curries I have EVER had. Ignore all the miserable people who leave reviews saying the service isn’t good, every single member of staff was very welcoming, helpful and friendly. If I lived locally it would 100% be my regular curry-house.

From start to finish, this restaurant is 5 stars! Came here with my partner for my birthday meal. Poppadoms to start with chicken tikka masala as a main. Easily one of the best chicken tikka masalas I have ever had!! Service was 6 stars- all staff very welcoming, kind and helpful with the menu! Will definitely be returning next time we’re in Oxford!!

We had dinner at the Curry Adda yesterday and everything about it was amazing. From the start, everyone was so polite and welcoming. My whole family loved the food and well we licked our plates clean. Definitely recommend for a good meal.

Food was decent but definitely not indian food. I can vouch for this since I am from India 😂. But one of the dishes was probably in the end of its lifecycle. So could smell it being stale. But other than that its decent food.

We very fine place to dine. The atmosphere was very nice. The restaurant was clean , the staffs were lovely. We have ordered the tandoori mix grill , naan , chicken biriyani and tandoori Murgh. The food was extremely delicious. We really loved it and will highly recommend this place for fine dining.

At 55 years old, I can easily state that was one of the best Indian meals I have ever had. And I have had a few. Service was also excellent, if I didn't live so far away, this would be my go to for a meal.

Went for our 3rd takeaway. Collecting so we were expecting 20%discount. No discount! And no order ready. Not happy, staff unhelpful. Very sad as the last two had been very good and I had recommended them to friends. I will be letting them know about my recent experience.

If your planning and evening in headington try this little gem out , really tasty curry’s we had the slow cooked beef and handi lamb curry on the bone which was very tender, delicious! The staff are very friendly and welcoming. We will most certainly be looking forward to going again

I enjoyed our meal here. The food was nice and above average in comparison on what is on offer in Oxford. The atmosphere was good and I really liked the chairs (they were very comfortable as I have a bad back). We will definitely be dining here again once I work out where I can park as we don't often eat out in Headington.

My wife likes very mild food and until 3 weeks ago there wasn’t a problem. However, last weekend (and to a degree the previous two weekends) the Butter Chicken and the Saag Aloo were too spicy-hot for her to eat. I rang the restaurant and told them and said we could discuss it next time we came in. She ate something else and we binned the Butter Chicken – I don’t eat creamy. When we arrived on Saturday I explained this to Raz, the manager, and said we wanted to taste tonight’s dishes before we took them away. He was most uncooperative and said there was no way the Butter Chicken could have been too spicy as he had seen it prepared and also nobody had complained about the Saag Aloo curry. When I attempted to say something he raised his voice and constantly talked me down and would not let me speak – reiterating that the problem was not with the food but with us. Two or three times I asked if he would let me have a chance to explain and he eventually did so. However he was obstinately adamant that the only problem was us. Bear in mind that we were not looking for a refund or anything like that - just a little sympathy and understanding. Not the confrontation which should never have happened. We left. Very disappointed as we have followed Aziz for some 40 years - c'est la vie

This restaurant does good quality curry and it is very well priced. The staff are always really helpful. Tip - if you order a take away they usually deliver faster than the estimate.

A good replacement for ABC, offering a nicer range of curries and more pleasant seasoning. Portions were good, the beef succulent, and the naan crisp in the middle but soft on the edge.

We hadn't been for a few months so decided on a revisit. The poppadoms were great and mains delicious, however the service was unattentive. We asked to order wine twice and never received any after waiting too long we cancelled the wine order and stuck with water. Food 5*, Service 1* on this occasion.

We visited on Saturday evening for a birthday celebration and had a fantastic evening. There were 8 of us and the staff couldn’t have been more helpful. We all had an variety of different dishes and all were excellent. The star was the slow cooked beef. Would definitely recommend Thanks to the staff for a great evening

A bit hidden, but when inside we found excellent service and delicious food. Great flexibility with the mild/medium/hot dishes and proper choice for a vegetarian! Recommendation if you are looking for a peaceful proper restaurant for a great price!

I strive to give very honest reviews. However, when one is limited to one meal, I dont feel you can be very complete. The atmosphere and service were great it felt like dining at a good friend's home. I enjoyed my meal, I'd grade it a B With that said. I tried a few things I'd not had before, that I didn't care for, but others in our party enjoyed. Overall B+ very satisfied and would patron again.

Gorgeous food, friendly welcome, and lovely quiet atmosphere — but most impressive of all was the custom masala chai, made with oat milk! What a wonderful find.

I’ve ordered chicken madras the chicken wasn’t cooked as a result I got food poisoning. Thanks to them I’ve been vomiting all night and I’m in bed. Poor food never again

As always, a fantastic meal. If you're bored with the usual bland Cowley Rd fare, it's definitely worth a short trip to Headington to this restaurant. Eaten here five or six times and never been disappointed. Fantastic food and friendly staff. Best Indian in Oxford.

Get the prawn dopiaza - incredible - can't belive someone can make prawns taste that good. The texture was incredible - goodness knows how they managed it. Good number of prawns as well. Service was great - very friendly. Popadums were replenished at no extra cost. Just really impressive for a reasonable price. Looking forward to going back!

We went to Curry ADDA about six months ago, we've been meaning to leave a review ever since, the staff are wonderfully friendly and kind, the food is lovely and the venue is clean and welcoming. We look forward to going back! Also I can't remember the name of it but they do a naan that is almond - like a Pashwari - but without honey and it's delicious and feels less fattening than a Pashwari... Really recommend it!

The food was scrumptious, portions were generous, and the staff were very attentive and made us feel welcome. It was the perfect place for our gathering and we had a wonderful evening. Very tasty take away tonight, ready on time, on a Friday night at peak time. Generous portions and three adults absolutely stuffed for £42. We'll give it a go eating in soon. Headington becoming quite the eating out hub, but we needed another decent restaurant and finally we've got Curry Adda to go with Monsoon and Bhoomi Kitchen for that extra special occasion.

Just back from a lovely celebratory meal at Curry Adda. Fresh and tasty curry served on hot plates with refillable poppadoms to start. I had Sak Chingri (spinach and tiger prawns) with a delicious Misti (coconut and almond) nan, hubby had Gohst (mutton) vindaloo and the kids shared a Murgh/chicken Tikka Masala. We all loved the garlic nan and pilau rice too! Beautiful restaurant with traditional music and friendly staff.

Just had a great experience here, first class service and extensive menu. I have eaten at many Indian restaurants over the years but this left me without any doubt that it’s way above the usual standard. The food was fresh and full of flavour and the building and toilets were spotlessly clean. Can’t recommend enough.
