A friendly & relaxed atmosphere. Food is delicious with plenty of choice on the menu but if you fancy a change, staff are more than happy to make up a dish to exactly what you want. Service is excellent with staff very accommodating & polite. Would highly recommend a visit!

I had a night out with friends at this restaurant in Broxbourne. The atmosphere was relaxed and friendly, the food was exceptional and beyond my expectations. Excellent service and very friendly. Would highly recommend including family outings. They even make a children’s cocktail drink which is an extra nice touch. Will definitely go again.

Terrible their tandoori king prawns are £9 more expensive than madina they are tasteless. More onions than prawns. I was told you get 4 prawns they leave the shell on the tail they must think it looks more professional. Madina in wormley does the best tandoori king prawns and £9 less expensive. Was take away but it isn’t listed.

Let me cut to the chase, there’s three Indian restaurants within 100 metres of each other on broxbourne high street. If you’re trying to decide which one to go to, try this one. Due to extremely attentive staff we wanted for nothing, everything was rapid, polite and professional. The calm intimate atmosphere made this a really pleasant dining experience. The food? Tasted brilliant, and they cooked us all our curries with no nuts due to allergies. Great flavour and portion sizes. People always leave reviews when somethings bad, but never appreciate when something is really good.. so the staff deserve this review! Thank you very much for going above and beyond! Andrew

The Royal Bengal is back in Broxbourne after changing hands three or four years ago to Curry Stop. You won’t be disappointed. The food was excellent but the service was second to none. They are trying very hard to get back to how they were and as it was very busy on a Saturday evening, they are achieving it. I love the atmosphere of this restaurant. The staff are incredibly friendly and the food is second to none. The general feel is upbeat and happy. I have a Gluten allergy and feel completely confident with recommendations of gluten free dishes. I have tried so many dishes now and would highly recommend their tandoori options. I like spicy dishes and tend to choose a jalfrezi, madras, Patia and Dhansak. Their paneer curries are my very favourite at this moment. The owner is always very welcoming and the waiting staff so friendly. It's definitely way above any other Indian restaurant I have visited in the local area. Give this restaurant a visit!

The Royal Bengal has been my choice of Indian restaurant for a number of years now. From the initial welcome to the table service and the fantastic cuisine, this restaurant is first class. The vast diversity of dishes, all cooked to order, is mind blowing. Chef Ripon and sous chef Hassan are the rock and roll duo in the kitchen with Massoud in charge of the oven working together like a well oiled engine to produce some exceptional dishes. My personal recommendation is the Albala designed especially for the Royal Bengal by chef Ripon. Front of house you will be greeted by owner Amin and he is faithful sidekick Raffy I will make sure your every need is catered to. If you can’t extend our visit to this establishment you really should try the takeaway or the telephone order service which is free within 3 miles. Don’t forget if you get a curry delivered, tip the driver, as they work long hours for little reward.

Had takeaways from there before but I will never go back there again. Used to visit here and always enjoyed the meal. Staff were always polite and food really tasty. The name changed to Curry Stop giving us and many others it was more of a takeaway than a restaurant, which was wrong. Needless to say, we never visited whilst it was called Curry Stop. Last November the management changed and the name reverted back to Royal Bengal. Last night we revisited the restaurant and had an excellent meal with fantastic food and service just like old times. Would thoroughly recommend people to eat there. Some poor takeaway comments recently- but cannot comment as never have takeaway Indian. Met the owner - friendly young man keen to re-establish business after poor decision re change of name. We will be back.

It's a real shame but we didn't have a good experience here at all. The best part of the meal was the papadums- very fresh, tasty and lovely chutneys. After that it went downhill, the prawn puri starter was greasy and the meat on the mixed grill starter was dry. I ordered a selection of 4 vegetable side dishes instead of a main course and they were nothing exciting, no flavours stood out and I didn't enjoy them at all. My partner had a lamb curry special dish and although there was a lot of meat it was all extremely overcooked and very dry. It was hot and spicy but he couldn't eat it because of the meat. Between us we ate about a quarter of the food and left the rest. The staff didn't ask us whether the food was good or not and didn't ask us if we wanted to take the leftovers away or not- which kind of summed it up really. Shame.

I had the misfortune to having to suffer what I can only describe as a plate of revolting slop from this so-called "restaurant". It was supposed to be a Chicken Madras but, having eaten countless currys over the years, this one broke new ground in terms of blandness. I'm not sure what the solid matter was that was accompanying the sort of pinky/red liquid but I'd have to question that it was really chicken. The poppadoms weren't fresh and the rice wasn't cooked properly. All in all, this really was by far the worst "curry" I've ever seen. This was a takeaway bought by a friend, so I wasn't in a position to complain at the time but Curry Stop should be ashamed of themselves. Truly awful.

We booked a table for 7.00pm on a Saturday evening, had some drinks and poppadums within half an hour but then had to wait until 8.45 to get our food. Looking around there were many tables without drinks or food and lots of customers with longing expressions on their faces. The staff were polite and friendly but didn't explain that they were short of kitchen staff and it was only when we went to pay that it was mentioned along with the fact that they had twice as many take-away orders that night. They could have appeased customers by explaining this earlier on and perhaps offering everyone a free drink. They did reduce the bill by £12 as a token gesture. Unfortunately I won't be going back soon.

We went with another couple for an evening meal. The restaurant had been open just over a month and with the owner in attendance was keen to impress. We started with the usual poppadoms and accompaniments. Two of us then had the fish curry with fillets of tilapia which was delicious and different- not too hot spice wise as to overwhelm the flavours of the spices and herbs. my husband had the duck curry he said was not to his taste but our other friend enjoyed his chicken curry. We also had side dishes of okra and potato and spinach which weren't really necessary as the portions were very large. There was a delay of about half an hour between our starters and mains but as the waiter explained, all the food is freshly prepared. For the amount of food and including beers and a glass of red wine, the bill was very reasonable. Would go again.

This was my first visit. The restaurant was quiet when we arrived (only one other table in use). The food was served hot, the portions a good size. The various dishes were tasty with good use of spices. I would have given a higher rating apart from two issues. Firstly their website and the menu clearly states "We use 100% vegetarian oil, containing no cholesterol. And we strictly prohibit any sorts of artificial colours, preservatives and flavourings." We ordered a portion of "Aromatic Pulao Rice basmati". It contained red and green flakes. My wife asked the waiter what they were and he said "decoration". When pressed further he said they were "coconut" my wife said she had never seen red or green coconut. He offered to change it and returned with a portion of pilau rice without any colourings! I have had this happen in other so called "colouring free" Indian restaurants and when pressed on this point they usually say it makes the dish look pretty. My second issue is that I ordered one spicy papadom (60p). (Pickles and Chutneys were listed at 60p.) The bill included a charge of £1.20 for papadom and pickle. I queried this and was told the way it was worked was 60p per papadom and 60p per pickle portion per person. I said only I had one papadom and pickles and my wife had not. So the bill was reduced by 60p. I felt that if they could not get the bill right on a quiet evening, especially for new customers, then there was little hope on a busy weekend evening with four diners. Furthermore if the restaurant claims it does not use colourings yet colours the rice, can I believe its other claims? One thing we found irritating (though this would not have stopped us returning) was the waiters pacing up and down the restaurant all the time, a particularly common occurrence in Indian restaurants. I am not inclined to return despite being having a flavoursome meal.

This was the first time using the Curry Stop for a Takeaway and is probably the last. I gave explicit directions yet the driver still got lost, even after phoning us and getting the directions again he went left instead of right so another 10 minute delay! By the time he arrived the food was warm so already losing marks. No complimentary onion salad with the poppadum's only a shredded lettuce salad. The flavour of the curries were ok but the Bombay potatoes were awful tasting of what can only be described as some sort of fire accelerant as used to fire up a bar-b-q so don't know what that was. The fact most of it remained in the containers uneaten proved it is a no no for my family. Back to Saffrons I'm afraid!!!

Great service, awesome food (from the poppadoms and exquisite toppings! to the most amazing lamb chops and mixed grill). So much nicer than the old place. If I need to criticise: stupid name and the finishings were done with sub-standard contractors. Friendly greeting upon arrival, the staff were very attentive and kind. Although, the new decoration isn't amazing , as with the removal of the pond (to cram in more tables), it's such a shame the heart of the Bengal is gone. We ate around 10.30pm, the food arrive worryingly fast as obviously that's not a good sign, order arrived correctly, but the food made our whole group (6people) feel ill for the following two days, as regulars of the Bengal we couldn't believe it, obviously the chef has changed, terrible experience.

Sad to see the royal bengal name replaced by what is now called Curry Stop, unfortunately the name is very off putting to start with, we arrived early as i have young ones things straight away looked unorganised, we were seated and popadoms arrived my wife complianed straight popadoms were stale. When our main courses arrived i was full of hope until i tucked in my chicked was very tough and chewy the sauce was very bland, my wife had a grill which was over cooked in some areas and undercooked in others areas, i think in all honesty Gulshan and Mangos are a better option to choose from. And lastly the manager was being very insistent i write a review which i found a bit strange if someone wants to write a review they will theres no need for the manager to force a person to write reviews. He should concentrate on running the show and let the people decide, anyways i think i will stick to Gulshan and mangos they dont force you to write reviews they concentrate on providing good food and good service.

First to arrive at 6.30pm and the place was empty on 4th Aug opening night. Arrived as a family of three with 5 year old daughter.Given complimentary cocktails (had a kia royal and daughter had a Cinderella)Ambiance: Yes its been totally gutted and rebuilt. Have to say the level of finish to the decor is a bit rough in places. A lot of the old Royal Bengal exists. So dont expect this place to be a palace. But it is fitted out as "fair" but not overdone. They have made an effort with the ceiling with pink / rose lighting and chandeliers. After 40 mins the place was absolutely rammed with first night people giving the place a go. And then (for me) the novelty of a new place seemed to wear off quickly and it seemed like "just another curry house". I think you will find that too...Once you have "given it a go" then it will blur into your memory as another eatery. But hey its no bad thing whats important is the food.Starters: Had the lamb tikka. Yes its fresh and not gritty. Liked it. But once again not much different (in fact no different) to all the other curry houses.Quite a green looking dish but quite potent. I was liked but not loved. Maybe a bit too much fire for me!!!Pilar Rice a let down. Instead of flicks of colour this looked like safron meltdown with a bright yellow dish all coloured the same. Not so good !Nan Bread: Had a plain nan. Nothing wrong with it.Drinks: They have Cobra on tap. So 2 x pints of that (one for me one the wife). After Dinner chocolate: unbranded standard choc in gold wrapper. After dinner free drinks: None offered.Bill. £45 for three (about average) and then 10% knocked off for the first night offer.Paid by card with a £5 cash tip.Improvements============1) The music is dire. Its a cross between a whale giving birth and lift music. Watch it does not send you to sleep. The good news is the ambiance of noise and chatter finally will drown out this droning soundtrack. I think the DJ needs to be fired !2) Plate removal / Clearing up. Yes its the first night (and some staff on training) so can cut a lot of slack. But here is what was happening. The dishes and empty glasses being left on table for far too long. Here's a funny thing: They came over to remove the "top cloth" and tidy up. Off comes the yellow top cloth to reveal the white under cloth with no staines etc. But they put back all the empty glasses and the finished dishes. I think its just because they were under pressure. So it was up to me to prompt them. "this glass is finished with..." and "these can be taken away.." But like I said.. First night!Overall: So we didnt get tummy bugs.. The beer pipes were clean and not full of washing up liquid. The settings were nice. Overall they have a standing start. Service of food out was good. Clearing up needs working on. I think this place is going to just settle in as a standard curry house which is a bit of a shame but my guess is they are appealing to a broad range of people. Would I go back? Yes. And I have some pictures for you [sorry for the grainy quality]

We visited on a friday evening. The restaurant was busy. We were seated quickly and our drinks order was taken. We were served quickly and waiter was helpful and knowledgeable about the menu. We were offered popadoms and chutneys while we read through and selected from the large menu.We did not have to wait very long once our food order was taken. The food was very tasty. Enjoyed the sharing starter. It was nice to have variety. Portions were large we did not finish our main and to full for desserts. Although desserts were the standard Indian choices. Mostly frozen in pots. Good choice of coffees and teas to finish.Prices were reasonable especially considering the amount of food served. The decor its self is very dated. It's like stepping back to,the seventies. There are Plastic and silk flowers around a large water fountain near the entrance. We would have food from here again but maybe on our only or a takeaway away. Wouldn't go here for a special occasion.

My parents frequent here all the time with business colleagues and friends, and on a recent visit we saw why. Although the decor is standard of Indian Restaurants, it's super clean and the service is very prompt. I also liked the fact that seating wasn't as cramped as other Indian restaurants I've been to. The food was of great quality and there was plenty of it, and I don't just mean plenty of sauce - the meat and veg was plentiful too. The staff are all very friendly and great on advising if you're indecisive on what you want. The price of food and drinks is on par with the surrounding restaurants so you're not overspending. There is nothing I can fault - bar the need for some updated decor.

I recently visited this restaurant for my friends birthday and have to say I was pleasantly surprised. It doesn't look particularly appealing from outside but once inside its a different story. The food is excellent and the staff were very pleasant and attentive. Will definitely give this restaurant another visit.

A standard Saturday night curry with some mates was good if unexceptional. Unlike some of the takeaway reviewers, we found our food to be tasty, with a decent level of spice. There are some unusual options - monkfish shashlik - as well as some reasonably price wines as a Kingfisher alternative. All in all, pretty good.

I have just had a take away from the restaurant and it was tasteless, curry did not have any spices and was like a soup... Korma was better but still like a soup not a proper souce. Cannot understand that as I have eaten there before and the food was great. New management? Do not know but will not order from them again. Bad and overpriced for what we got.

We have eaten here or had takeaways quite a few times, always good and good value. I can recommend the Royal Albala - best Indian dish I have tasted. This is the best Indian restaurant by far in this area.

Easter Sunday, we had a great day out and decided to finish off with an Indian takeaway. Anticipated palates awaited our culinary delights (or so we thought). We had ordered king prawn tandoori, king prawn tikka masala, chicken tikka masala, purees, pershwari naan, saag aloo, onion bhaji and vegetable rice. The dishes looked really colourful and very flourescent. However, it was tasteless and tasted stale and watered down. It was unseasoned and nowhere near the quality of Indian meal that we were used to eating from an established restaurant. Marks 1 out of ten is too high !!!This was the first time I ever felt moved to call and complain. The person who answered the telephone felt the need to tell me that he did not believe me and said it was the first time he had ever had a complaint about their food. He was very defensive and not very helpful at all. He did not feel a need to apologise even after I said I only wanted to let him know so that they could make improvement if there had been some error or had a new chef. However he was rude and his blatant denial to accept that somehow the meal might not have been up to standard forced me to go on line to add this review ( a first for me). Needless to say we have fed £60 worth of food to the dogs...

Got to be the best curry house in the area. Great service, great food for a fantastic price. They even bring new dishes over to try on the customers for no extra cost. Can't fault the takeaway service either.

Finally managed to get back after about a 1yr absence. Royal Bengal was always THE place to go in Broxbourne and the daddy of curry houses, but a bit of local competiton has pulled customers (including me) away for some time.Broxbourne now has THREE curry houses, The Gulshan, The Royal Bengal and finally Mangos. And I have listed them here in my order of preference - Gulshan being my favourite. So what led me back to RB? Basically late night drinking & eating plus its the closest to the Bull pub. This time there were 5 of us (all blokes) and we simply wanted a bit of late night food and drink. Gulshan are not so keen on late night eating (who can blame them) and Mangos is a bit to fussy and pricy for me.So there we are at the RB and of course for a Thursday night at 10.30pm arriving its practically empty. We are made very welcome and shown straight to big round table by the fish pond.Cue first rounds of drinks - Cobras and whiskeys - all delivered promptly. Starters? Not this timePopodums? Yes x 2 Came up with a standard selection of dips (four) so nothing "fancy" BUT who needs fancy? Just in case you are confused there are other curry houses (Saffron in Hoddesdon and Mangos) that bring up an extensive range of dips.Main course: I stuck with the Chicken Tikka Massala which I know is the standard UK dish but I havent had it for ages and so fancy it on the night. Great soft and tasty chicken (not over cooked) nice sauce and I had a coconut nann to boot and that was great too.Everybody else seemed to be enjoying a wide selction of well cooked dishes. No complaints from the other four blokes. To sum up: RB is a solid traditional curry house offering no frills dishes and late night drinking. Great place for a group of lads to go. We had the usual freebie drinks at the end of the night including Dissoranno (is that spelt right) Baileys, Brandy but these were in large measures - not shot glass style. So generous from the hosts. No pressure to leave either. We could have stayed later but this was after all a Thursday night and with work next day we left on our own accord not through any prompting. The great thing about Broxbourne is you have choice. And for this particular event RB was the right choice.

Came here tonight and it was a lovely experience, the food was amazing and for an incredibly good price, the starters were lovely and there was a choice of 3 meat curries and 3 vegetable dishes with salad rice naan and fries, delicious food and very cheap for what you get, I left completely full. All the staff were so friendly aswell and we had such a good chat, will definitely be coming back :)
