De Ja Vu in Broxbourne

First time here and loved it. The food is wonderful and the portion sizes very generous. The waiters were welcoming, attentive, and polite. Would definitely recommend and will be back asap.

I am always on the hunt for the best curry house. Been all over herts, etc and this is by far the best one. I moved out of the area but still come back for a meal here. Staff are friendly and attentive. Atmosphere is great and the food is top notch.

I would give this restaurant a minus if I could. I had been to this restaurant previously, so I decided to book for mother's day, 10/03/2024 for 1.00pm. I phoned the day before & got told that the restaurant did not open till 2.00pm. So I thanked them & said I will try elsewhere. A few minutes later, I got a phonecall from somebody asking if I had phoned. So, I explained & said it was ok. The person asked when I wanted the booking, so I said, 1.00pm. They said Ok, not a problem. I was surprised, but booked. So, on mother's day, we were running a bit late & as a courtesy, I phoned to say we would be a few minutes late. The person said no problem. Then a second person phones & says no we don't open till 2.00pm. I tried explaining & asked then why was my booking taken the day before & when I phoned it was ok to be a few minutes late. The person allegedly a manager practically called me a liar. I pointed out that they needed to get their act together & maybe learn to understand English. The outcome was that people in the group who had come down from Leeds & I had no booking for a meal. I would have accepted an apology & let it go as a human error, but the so called manager phones back & has a go at me & tells me he does not want my custom. Well, to be honest, I would not go there if he paid me, because I do not deal with people who have bad manners. The guy has no customer service skills. Anyway, the day was saved by an Indian restaurant, Mahek, literally a few 100 yards down the road. They could not have been more helpful. De Ja Vu can surely learn customer service skills from the staff at Mahek restaurant. Also, the food was delicious. So, definitely, De Ja Vu to be avoided just because of their bad manners.

Service was good,the food was very bland,not even spicy..very disappointed..price was very expensive for 4 people. Would I go again..no.

Went on valentine’s day. Amazing live music and atmosphere. Staff were very helpful and accommodating. Set starters were amazing and presented beautifully, it was lovely particularly the tandoori chicken wings. I had Chicken Jalfrezi with a keema rice and it was out of this world. The best curry i’ve ever had. Finished it off with a nice ice cream. Lovely experience. Must visit for anyone who wants a good meal.

Amazing food and service. Went for a Chicken choke to start and the Goa Garlic Beef for main. The meat quality was Devine and the taste was out of this world. A generous helping of sauces with the poppadoms too!

Disgraceful place. Placed an order twice here the 1st time they where 2 hours late the order was placed via deliveroo like all my other orders yet they said they had the wrong address. Tonight i tried to order and this time i call them directly as there should be less issues. Again the food is an hour and a half late and they say i gave the wrong address but said he will get it cooked and send it out right away..... Forward on i get no food and im told AGAIN i gave the wrong adress and he proceeds to get really rude and threatetning . DONT WASTE YOUR TIME WITH THESE CLOWNS!!!!!!!

The best authentic Indian Restaurant in the World. All the staff are always soo happy, it has now become tradition for my wife's Birthday and special occasions. I have also tried DeJa Vu as a takeaway and their onion bhajis are soo good especially with Mango Chutney. Normally disappointment with most places as prices have gone up and quality down after Covid. But De Ja Vu remains one of the great places to eat out.

Met with an empty restaurant that seemed to be staffed with a young girl and her brother. Zero interaction or warmth from the young girl she made me feel like we were in the wrong place. Standard food, reasonable prices. Sorry but it’s not for me. It filled up later with locals. I still don’t understand paying service charge and will always insist it is taken off the bill. Not one of the drinks that spilled did they offer to replace. A complete waste of my evening. Their reviews are littered with one star reviews which is always suspicious to me.

Everything was just beautiful.. I had a takeway and I can surely say its the best Indian food I have had in years the delivery driver was really friendly and the staff on the phone was brilliant as I rang to ask a question.. I highly recommend thank you all so much Danny

A traditional Bangladeshi Indian restaurant with good service and even better food! We ordered an array of starters, mains and desserts and all were tasty. Things not to miss include the papad with chutneys, the vegetable pasty and the paneer sizzler. The ice cream was also nicely presented. We really enjoyed this experience. Sorry i have to leave feedback, visited today with family happy with food and service no problem it was buffet have asked before started the food everything was free except from drinks. At the end we were charge for poppadoms and for 1 child which the gentlemen said he will waive it off for today had 3 children 5 adults, calculation was wrong we were charged £8 extra. Will not visit again

Absolutely amazing food the meals were great

Welcomed by staff on arrival and seated straight away. We were a large party of 11 so not easy to fit us all in, however they overhead one of our party say she didn't like where we were and immediately offered us another table with no questions. Food and drinks orders taken promptly and didn't have a long wait for the food. Despite the restaurant being busy we got our food within a reasonable time and it was piping hot. I don't think anyone had any problems and the food was tasty and piping hot. We were there for the Elvis night which is always a great night and packed, but staff carried on smiling and working hard.

Just had a fantastic meal eating the TAWA with the family. Food delicious as usual, great service along with great value. Highly recommended!!!!

Went in Yesterday for new year’s eve, brilliant atmosphere and service was great. Their lamb chops was very tender and delicious, best i’ve ever had! Even though it was busy the wait was not too long, and i’ll definitely be coming back again.

I went with my mates to try this place, first impressions was really good as the restaurant was clean and the atmosphere was really vibrant. The food was really good, little wait as it was busy but the lamb chops was the best I have ever had. The chicken momo, naga chicken was so good and had a little kick. Myself and hubby ate in here last Wednesday evening. Not been here for a few years! Staff were very very charming. Food was delicious! My special biryani even at £16 I thought was expensive it was absolutely delicious! Hubby’s garlic chicken was lovely! Sides rices and poppadom were yummy! Only 3 tables were taken but the atmosphere was nice! Highly recommend 😁

Great Tasting Food- Poor delivery service! Ordered at 6.25pm and got my food at around 8.10 pm and it was freezing cold. The food quality is always high but the food delivery is very poor and lets the restaurant down. Their food is one of the best around but I wont be ordering a takeaway anymore. It always takes longer than stated but this time it was absolutely stone cold as well!

This wonderful restaurant was a grim favourite when we both lived in the area 10 years ago and with family still living in cheshunt We had to come back after a long 10 years without the tasty food and warm welcome And wow what can I say It’s vertically kept it’s charms With tasty authentic beautifully cooked food and the warmest of welcomes and impeccable service We ate the special biriyani and the lamb momo And the others are vindaloo and korma All amazing tasty fresh and just so worth the drive down from other side of stansted And they made my sisters birthday even more special Thank you for the a wonderful evening And we will be sure not to leave so long for another visit

Sunday buffet was awesome. Visited June 2022 and price was £11 per adult plus drinks. Poppadums cooked fresh to order and served with a variety of chutneys. Delish! Starters are cooked to order- huge onion bhaji, 2 tandoori wings, samosa n salad each - All Delish ( onion bhaji was perfect- not dry or floury) then the mains were self service buffet except the naan breads which were cooked fresh to order ( peshwari, garlic, plain or keema). There was chick tikka masala (obs) , a hot chick curry, lamb dupiaza, veg curry, Bombay potatoes, rice and salad. The curries had plentiful of large chunks of meat . The staff were very attentive and friendly. We will def be going back

We had been on the hunt for a good Indian for a while and we have finally found it, the food was so tasty and the staff very professional, attentive and friendly. So hard to find a place where not every curry dish tastes the exact same, this place was authentic!!

Lovely place had a fantastic evening and a fabulous meal. The staff were very helpful and very efficient, they made you really welcome, the food was excellent I'm back to De Ja Vu on the 28th of this month for the elvis night and another fabulous meal. Personally I would recommend this place.

5* to the Chef because food is absolutely yummy and when it finally came it was hot and amazing! Now to the 2* part, the customer service. When we arrived they couldn't find our details ( I booked 2 months in advance and they rang to me to confirm) and took few minutes to figure it out. They sat us down to a lovely space, no complain there. Now the reason why only 2* stars - food took ages to arrive ( fair enough it was a crazily busy time when we arrived), then we had parts of our order missing, couldn't get anyones attention, drinks took ages too even through its beers in bottles? At one point we got 2 beers even though there was clearly 4 of us and we asked for 4. Nope, never got the remaining two. When we tried to ask for a bill it took ages so when after 25 minutes we finally got hold of a waiter we were excited that we can finally pay. Nope. it took another 30 minutes and two reminders to get the bill. What we didn't realise is that they are not using a till but writing everything down on paper. Ooops. If this was explained to us we would be much happier. When the bill arrived we were charged for food we never got, also the beers that never arrived ( we had 9 but the bill had 11 on there ). So back to the drawing room to get the bill adjusted - also everything was scribbled on the bill so no idea what else we were actually being charged for- at the end we spent 1 hour and 30 minutes eating and drinking and the other hour and some waiting for the bill and food. Not important but when i booked the table there was an offer for a free house wine - we never got that either. Lovely place, amazing food( LIKE HONESTLY YUMMY!) but let down by the service. I will go back if someone can confirm the service improved...its a shame as I can see all the 5* reviews so I know its good and I hate moaning but just our luck it was not the best night.

Waiting 2 hours for food ordered a chicken dupiazi got beef, called twice as order was late and fobbed off each time saying it’s out on delivery the man was rude and cut the call when I asked to cancel order and have refund. , poor customer service

Just awful, wish I could rate 0 stars. 1st was served a drink in a broken glass followed by raw chicken. Unfortunately management could not see the issues or risks of serving raw food and simply reheated what was originally brought out but with half of the food missing. Very disappointed would never go or recommend to anyone.

This curry house is the best curry house in cheshunt. Abdul was fantastic and got a beautiful dinner for 14 guests at our house.De ja vu had everything ready for me on time and his staff brought it to my car. We couldnt get to De ja vu so they brought party to us.Many thanks guys would definetely use again.

Went here for my sons 18th, at his request. Didn't say anything prior but once they found out it was his 18th. They brought out banners & balloons. They were brilliant. So, had been here a few times & always found the staff very welcoming & attentive. The food, always top quality, plus not overpriced. No difference this time. I ordered from de ja vu as me and my lady were feeling peckish. The food came 10 mins late but the quality of the food was outstanding. I ordered a lamb shank A M A Z I N G and me lady got a dum gost BUZZING perfect for a little honeymoon

I came here with about 25 family members to celebrate my Mother-In-Law's 70th birthday. Abdul and the rest of the staff were incredibly accommodating as our party consisted of vegans, vegetarians, nut allergies and meat eaters. Normally the vegans/vegetarians struggle when we go out to eat but the all commended the variety on the menu, and the time the staff took to explain their options to them. The portion sizes of the mains were also huge, we all took food home! I would definitely recommend this restaurant to everyone!

I came here with my friends not thinking much of this place as I didn’t really like Indian food ,but when the food arrived (which came amazingly fast) it proved me wrong.Their lamb chops are succulent and tender and their prawns were the best I ever tried. The atmosphere was great, however it wasn’t too busy which I liked. Also the staff are friendly and hard working so therefore I would recommend this place to anyone wanting a great meal.

My wife and I tried this restaurant tonight for the 1st time. 1st impressions were extremely good. Upon arrival we were asked to sanitise our hands and all the staff were wearing face masks AND gloves.. It was obvious they were observing social distancing by the way all the diners were spaced out in the restaurant.. The food was exceptional and of the highest quality. The staff were very friendly and I would strongly recommend everyone to try this place out. We will definitely be returning.

Ordered a delivery online it took 2 and 1/2 hours to arrive after I called I was told it was out for delivery I called again after some time and was told it was just being cooked Very disappointed

We were very disappointed with the service. It took them an hour to bring out our starters and then another 45 minutes for our mains. The food was ok but expensive, plus we weren’t told that we’d be charged so much for the sauces we had with our popadoms. Whist we were there customers up and left as they weren’t prepared to wait over an hour for their starters. The restaurant wasn’t even that busy, so I really don’t understand why the wait was so long.

We went to dine in the restaurant called de ja vu.... in cheshunt as a family outing... we had some exclusive traditional Indian desh ..tandoori king prawn jalfrezi and chicken jalfrezi sag aloo tarka dall tandoori mix grill tandoori lamb chop rice veg curry etc but I must say the food was outstanding excellent taste to the top standard of quality and fantastic service by the management we definitely pay another visit again soon and highly recommended for curry lover to try it out ..once again we thanks to management for the complimentary ice cream and tea beverage... .😘😍😍

I went down with my family 2 days ago, all staff were keeping their distance and were wearing face coverings. We all felt safe and liked the atmosphere. I loved the food and me and my family consider this as the best Indian.

We went last night all of the waiters were fully masked, sanitisers everywhere and overall a very clean restaurant. Maintaining all government requirements. Food and service was fantastic I’ll recommend this place to anyone.

Last night I went to deja vu Indian restaurant in cheshunt, there were 3 staff, 1 had a mask and gloves, one had a face shield one had nothing on i his face.We were seated away from others, but there were a few diners in the front seating area quite close. As the night was progressing, more people were coming in and being seated, at this point none of our names had been taken, no addresses etc, one of the people on our table called the waiter over and stated that they need to stop letting people in as the distancing would not be met, the waiter wasn’t happy being told this and from this point on we waited an hour and a half for our starter, when halfway through the starter, the waiter just shouted across the room “enjoy your starter, yeah”This got my back up even more, as the tone and attitude in his voice was strange, any how the meal followed , mediocre to low quality, all the while being ignored by the waiters, when we tried to call them over we got a thumbs Up or 1 minute finger.We got the expensive bill and paid and left, all the while being offered no hand gel, as other customers were, and they never took our names and Addresses.Bad experience, will never dine there again

Valentine's Day night.starters came about 10 minutes after ordering.but we had to wait for our main course well over an hour!! Peoples came after us was served before our main meal...i wasnt hungry after the length of time waiting! The manager or the owner didnt even apologise in person!!! Very poor service!!

Food is often ill-prepared... or brought to the table warm? Much of the food seems to be leftovers of other diners. The freshness of well prepared food is not present when all brought to the table, for dinners. Quality of meals is significantly elusive here... Standards have taken a poignant tumble } I suspect De Ja Vu may have changed their personal chefs a few times? Nonetheless... De Ja Vu is not reaching quality standards.

I would personally, just drive on. There is nothing worth commenting on in this place. A pint of beer is nice but other than that...avoid

we were a party of 5 and booked a table for dinner @ 20.00 hours. On arrival, we were shown to table No1 which was very comfortable and suited us fine. We all chose different dishes from the large menu and there was no complaints from anybody. i chose the southern indian garlic chicken which looked perfect and tasted lovely.the large chicken pieces were very soft and suculent and i can highly recommend this dish.The service was very attentive without being over powering. We all had a great evening and shall certainly return again.
