Great food good atmosphere helpful staff. Eat here often and the food is consistently good and fresh. Mid week specials are exceptional value for money. They also have great entertainment nights.

Been my go-to restaurant for years ... it's like a second home for me as I know the staff well 🙂. Great food, good portions and well priced.

Although the food was nice (a tad cold), the delivery was terrible. Nearly 20 minutes longer than stated, delivery driver claimed he knocked on the door but didn’t (ring door bell). When I rang to ask where my order was the person was rude. Not sure if I’d order again which is a shame as curry was nice

Sunday Buffet was rather bland and not enough variation.

I came here with my girlfriend as we were looking for local Indian cuisine as we were away for the weekend. I must say this place doesn’t disappoint, I am delighted we made the choice to come visit this place. Kamrun was very nice and attentive. The other two waiters were very friendly, one waiter even charged my phone for me when I asked which I really appreciated. They explained the menu and what their specialties were.

Good local Indian restaurant, went on a Thursday night and had the buffet which was very nice and very well priced. Will be back in future.

We visited for our daughter birthday, there was 11 of us, half had the Sunday buffet and 1/2 from the menu, the food was delicious, I had the Lamb Rogan Josh from the buffet, it was amazing, the meat was so tender and full of flavour. We also took a cake, which was brought out with candles and everyone sang ‘Happy Birthday’ it was a lovely evening, thank you so much, we will be back. They also gave my daughter a voucher for our next visit. Would definitely recommend 😊😊

Ordered a takeaway chicken tikka masala and it tasted like a korma just coloured red. Glad to see the previous reviews mention about the ordering dishes that taste like something else. Called up and was told they would replace but when get there was told that was how it was meant to taste. Why waste my time🙄

It's always been between the raj and ashoka,this place is winning at the moment best Indian restaurant hands down in hoddesdon.

VERY DISAPOINTING. We had starter and main course. My starter was exellent. My Wifes starter was awful. She said there was too much garlic and the prawns were raw.I had a taste and that was correct. Then came the main. I had a King Prawn Madras that tasted like a Dhansak ,My Wife had a Chicken Tikka Masala, that clearly wasn't a Tikka. She didn't like it .When we complained .The waiter argued with me asking if had lentils in it as I criticised the most unlikely tasting Madras I have ever eaten.I felt the whole experiance unpleasant and humiliating. I really am not a person that likes to complain and wishes to praise.The service was good. Thoiugh not once did they ask if the food was good .Iwonder why?

Quite simply, I've used this place for 9 years. They've never made a mistake, the food is always lush, the price is excellent and they never take long. I wouldn't go anywhere else.

Terrible experience ordered a delivery 2hours later it terns up after 2 calls to ask where it was the food was to spicy to eat and the delivery driver was smoking I personally can’t wait to get it from there again Oh yeah a lamb rogan should have lamb in right

First time here tonight . And I can honestly say one of the best Indians I’ve had in Hoddesdon !!! . Service was great staff were quick and and on the ball , food was nice with loads of flavour and taste . And just genially a good atmosphere. We will definitely be returning and will also let our friends no. Great food 👍🏼

We didnt have a booking but was seated straight away which was great. Started with poppadoms which were accompanied with the usual dips as well as a coconut flavour dip which I have never had before and that was sweet, very nice. Then for main went for the lamb jalfrezi, nice and spicy but not over the top. And one of the Ashoka specialty dishes called colckotta chicken which was also spicy, but the flavour was incredible. I would absolutely return to this restaurant and I plan to do so very soon. Will take pics next time as I forgot to do that this time.

The butter chicken was way too sweet. But the chicken wings were alright.

I found it to be rather more expensive than other local Indian restaurants. The chutneys are a bit on the expensive side. The king prawn masala only had 4 prawns in it whereas most serve 6. The masala sauce wasn’t at all creamy and looked more like pasata sauce. Not particularly tasty either. Shame.

Ordered takeaway 20-30min collected and was really nice. Lamb momo, chicken pakora (ask for it). Ashoka biryani was yum, we ate too much it was that good! Edit: 21Jan2022, we decided to sit in and it was sooo good, great service. The food is tastes great served fresh, you must. You just must come and dine in.!

Have had plenty of take aways from here and food has always been good and reasonably priced. Have never eaten in the restaurant itself so cant comment on the service etc however whenever i have picked up the takeaway the staff have always been friendly and polite.

Excellent food and friendly excellent service

We originally picked to eat here as we had the Meerkats offer, of 2 for 1. The food was absolutely delicious, and the waiting staff were speedy and very pleasant. The décor is smart and modern, and tables are well spaced. If we're in the area again, it'll be a return visit here.

Great tasting freshly cooked on site food. Staff are very friendly and knowledgeable about the regions each dish comes from. And best of all its not expensive to eat here. Highly recommend Ashoka

Ordered takeaway via deliveroo, over an hour and twenty five minutes, still no delivery. Lied to us on phone that it would be another 10-15 minutes, called again and lied again saying it was with deliveroo driver... Now 10pm no food, nearly 2 hours after ordering, rude and actually made my wife cry over telephone. utterly disgraceful!!!! DO NOT ORDER ANYTHING FROM THESE LIARS.

Hardly any flavour in any of the dishes, the chicken tikka masala was overpowered with coconut, the chicken bhuna had no heat whatsoever, the garlic sizzling prawns were mushy and the chicken tikka and tandoori lamb chops starters were very bland. Very disappointed with all of it, only decent thing was the mushroom rice which isn’t hard to get right! Considering this came to £50, I’d expect more.

Shocking service, ordered via uber and paid for in advance, have nevered ordered a takeaway from here before we are new to the area we spoke to restaurant 6 times in two hours regarding my order despite being told numerous times it is on its way, in the end drove to pick it up myself, food was surprisingly good just a shoddy delivery service not sure who is to blame, Uber or the restaurant not sure I would order a takeaway from here again once bitten twice shy!

We already have a favourite Indian restaurant we’ve been going to for years and years and were reluctant to try something new but we were really surprised. The restaurant inside was nicely decorated. I liked the atmosphere, menus and that the cutlery came in its own little envelope. The tables and seats in the booths are very comfortable. Service wasn’t poor but wasn’t exceptional either. We were surprised about how busy they were on a Tuesday night. Starters were delicious and the quality and portion size of the mains was very good. Chicken was really tender and dishes were really tasty. The only reasons I wouldn’t give this Indian 5 starts is because one of the plates were dirty and a bowl had 2 chips around the rim. Also, there was an inedible cracker on the mains which seemed VERY out of date. The only deserts they have available is sorbet/ice crème, whereas I would have liked to see a little more variety. We were offered a drink on the house after our meal which was nice. They were taking part in the “Eat Out to Help Out” and we had £20 off our meal which was nice. It’s generally quiet expensive compared to our favourite Indian but we would visit again. There was hand sanitiser available but they could do a little better with spacing people out.

Decided to take two of my sons out for a meal and, as one of them rarely opts for Indian food, we came here. Kind of guessed that it would be packed so booked in advance. It was busy on the two previous occasions I've been here but tonight it was packed and there was a seemingly constant queue of people waiting for a table or a takeaway. This, along with people making the most of the "Eat Out to Help Out" offer, meant that service was slower than it normally is. No big deal...I often wonder why people moan so much about having to wait ten to fifteen minutes for their food. The staff, under pressure, remained calm, polite and highly professional. We shared a couple of starters, after poppadoms of course, and a selection of mains including chicken, lamb and prawn dishes, several vegetable sides, a couple of different rices and naan washed down by draught Cobra. Not wanting to overeat, we requested a "Doggie bag" as there was a decent amount of food left and we were not going to let it go to waste!!! So that's three out of three for Ashoka. Three times I've been here, three times I've experienced great food and service, three times I've taken food home for the following day. Maybe next time we will order fewer mains, or miss out on the starter, so that we can try one of their desserts.

Try the best and forget the rest What can I say about this restaurant Been open for delivery and collections all the through lockdown and I'm so glad it has been By far the best indian restaurant in the area ( trust me ) The food , always amazing Couldn't find friendlier staff and the prices have got to be the most reasonable in town Couldn't recommend it enough Just cant wait for it to fully open where you can sit down in cleanliness and ambient surroundings And the Sunday buffet is something to behold

We were really excited for our first lockdown takeaway on Saturday and thought we’d try out Ashoka as it’s local. Very friendly service but unfortunately the food disappointed, every dish was unpleasant except the rice and naan. The curry was all sauce, the chicken was so dry it had no flavour, and the sag paneer was very pungent and watery (nothing like we’ve had before). Hope it’s usually better than this :(

Had a delivery from Ashoka on Friday (lockdown and all that) and would like to give them 5☆ for a top class service. Food was delivered nice and hot but we were missing popadoms (ok, it's minor but you have to have them lol). Phoned to let them know and the manager said that they weren't ordered/showing on the order but he did say that as we'd ordered the dip selection (chutney etc) seemed strrange why none were ordered and it could be a glitch with their system. Within a couple of minutes they were at our door - thanks Ashoka, excellent service and the Nil Gril was spot on :-)

To make saturday night a bit different from every other night we thought we would try a takeaway. Never used this Indian before but as reviews were good and it was local we gave it a go. And I'm so glad we did. Yes delivery was probably bit longer than normal but we were in no hurry. Food was left on door step whilst driver stepped back so all good. Food absolutely delicious and hot. It really made for a great evening and just for a while we forgot all the madness in the world. Thank you.

We got a delivery with many sauces to place on our non- existent popadoms that we did order but never came. The salmon was extremely dry which I found rather aggravating on a nice day like this, thank you ever so much.

We were a party of four and this was our 1st visit to this place. We were shown to a alcove benched table which we found much to tight for us and we were then shown to a round table with chairs which was much more comfortable. Our drinks and food orders were promptly taken with our drinks served quickly and our food followed shortly after. I had the tandori lamb chops smothered in onions and peppers. The chops were perfectly cooked and very tender and tasted delicous. We all chose different dishes and everybody enjoyed their chosen dishes and we shall certainly return again.

Luckily this is my local curry house. Always feel looked after by the staff whether I'm eating in or collecting a take away.

Regular visitor and love an Elvis night. Great food and friendly staff. The Sunday buffet is unbeatable value and gorgeous.

I've used this takeaway from time to time for 7 years now. The food has always been excellent, not one mistake has been made and when I ask for my saag aloo to be heavy on spinach and light on potatoes they always oblige. They're also really fast. They say 45 mins then turn up in 20. Highly recommended.

There were 24 of us and they brought our food out together so we all started and finished at a similar time. Food was lovely and prices are very good.

We eat here regularly and also get takeaways quite a lot. It's always very good and the staff are lovely.

Me and my partner got a lamb shish each from this restaurant we both agreed that it was the best lamb shish kebab we have ever had the lamb was perfectly cooked and full of flavour and very tender, the salad was fresh and not the usual tasteless rubbish you get with a kebab and the pitta bread was delicious tastes home made was light and fluffy and again full of flavour we will definitely be visiting this restaurant again in the future and are very happy to highly recommend this place :-)

I absolutely love curry and have never tried this place until a mate recommended it to me, he was very nervous about this!!! I had a chicken a phall and it didn’t disappoint, very good quality of food, it was the right spice level for me, really enjoyed the meal, staff were excellent and we will definitely be going back.

Visited last night. Not our first visit and certainly not our last so time to post a review. I cant fault this restaurant its just the best in the area. Beautiful menu and amazing food with a reasonably priced wine list. Friendly attentive staff in nice surroundings. Thank you Ashoka , cant wait to return.

I was using Ashoka regularly as I live just around the corner. I have eaten in and have had regular take aways that have always been enjoyable. The last couple of times we have ordered a take away the most recent been tonight, the food has been horrible. The last take away I had was totally bland, no flavour at all and full of oil. Tonight's take away that was collected and back home within 2-3 minutes was cold. My son had Chicken Tikka and I had Punjab Chicken, the Chicken in both meals tasted like it had come out of the freezer and been stuck in the microwave. It was watery and had no flavour whatsoever. The Bombay Aloo was also bland and may as well have been classed as a Potatoe Salad, it was that cold. The Tikka Naan which was again cold, was as flat as a pancake with a miniscule amount of chicken inside and had none of the garlic or chilli flavours that it should have had.

I can't fault the food, but the service was often quite slow, even at quieter times, and waitors were forgetful about things you had asked for or things they had asked you.

Normally the standard is fairly good for takeaways. However when you have eaten the same meal a number of times you know what expect. This time the food was totally different and swimming in oil so they have built a reputation with our family which has now gone. The loyalty scheme is good but what's the point if you can't eat the food which was disgusting. This one is now off the list but it seems a recurring theme with all the local Indian restaurants.

Well done. It had been recommended and finally we got here. The food and service was superb. We will be back. A tastefully decorated comfy restaurant.

Just has Ashoka Special cocktail for the first time and it was Amazing!!!!! Thoroughly recommend. Staff and manager really looked after us as we had no booking . Loved it 😍
