Unfortunately we decided to order a cod and chips here yesterday evening. The batter was thick and burnt (25% black) after one mouth full that was enough, scraped it off and tried the fish and that was tasteless. So ate a few chips (fries) and threw most of it away. I wish I took a photo to post.

Now called The Rowan Tree. We went here for a bit to eat at lunch time. Service was found to be good and friendly. The Food was ok, but small portions and it was very expensive compared to other cafes.

Popped in today just before closing time, wasn’t expecting much due to the time we arrived but they went out of their way to supply beautiful home made quiche and pots of tea - a credit to South Brent - many thanks indeed

Lovely clean welcoming atmosphere. Service was excellent staff very attentive. Initially went for coffee and cake but had lunch as there was an amazing looking pie in the glass cabinet. Homily Pie was our choice which came with a lovely fresh salads. We even bought pasties and cake for supper.

I used to frequent Crumbs & Cuppa for their incredible lunch food to go. And nothing is too much trouble. The all day breakfast bap is very recommended. You know what you are getting yourself in for, and you won't be disappointed. Also, the staff are really lovely.

So nice to enjoy the delights of a real village café as opposed to the sterile offerings of the high street. We worth a trip out to South Brent on the edge of Dartmoor to enjoy the delights offered by the café. Great range of cakes, barista coffees along with substantial breakfasts and lunches. The staff are very friendly and welcoming and the bubbly, blonde proprieter oozes local charm! as well as saving you money on your utility bills! A visit to the café is certainly a great way to start 'Living the Dream'

My wife and I try to meet up at least once a week for a quick lunch (work permitting) and Donna's cheerful welcome (mirrored by her staff) makes this quick visit all the more enjoyable. The food/drink selection is of a good quality, timely delivered and good value for money. No wonder the cyclists make a rendezvous when passing through the village. Paul Astal-Stain

Great place to pick up a loaf of fresh bread or slice of yummy cake to take-out. Or, sit down to a filling all-day-breakfast, lunch or just a cup-of-tea with friends. Honest, good value, no-frills, cafe type food - served with a smile!

Despite being local and having a genuine desire to like this place, I have found myself unable to do so...The food is fine, nothing great but does the job (if you're hungry). Pasties, sandwiches, cakes and that sort of thing. Some of the staff present as rude and generally unhelpful. For example: Not wanting to create my order and create a mess due to closing in 20 minutes. I want to like this place but I'm having trouble doing so... after 4 attempts of eating there.Highlights:- Fresh bread sold- Sandwiches / rolls are filling

Our family live in Oklahoma so we were excited to be in the beautiful English countryside. Crumbs & Cuppa was just an inpromptu stop but wow the pasties were out of this world, if possible we would have filled our suitcases with them but instead we just savored two each on the drive out of Dartmoor.

There are some wonderful places to go walking on the edge of Dartmoor close to South Brent .This small cafe is very convenient for a cup of tea and piece of cake. They also provide basic meals at lunch time but we got there after the kitchen was closed about 2-30.pm. Friendly place to take a rest.

Crumbs & Cuppa caters to any type of cafe-seeker in South Brent: from passing cyclists off the Moor to locals seeking a "full-English" breakfast at a legitimate price. It is bright, clean, and dependable. I've never visited the place empty yet there is always a clean table and an efficient smile ready to take your order. The WiFi is great- ask for the code from Donna or her team. Most of the food is sourced from local providers but cooked to-order; a lot of people pop in to sip a coffee while they wait for the ladies to heat a breakfast bap. I enjoy their big salads and balsamic dressing. As a solo traveler, I found Crumbs & Cuppa the most comfortable place to people-watch and lunch in South Brent. My only complaint was the cramped bathroom- mind the step!

Im sorry to say but i think the guys reveiw stated below is very much in the wrong, plus by all the reveiws he writes on here, just shows "way to much time on his hands!!"Everytime i go into this lovely, lightly and friendly cafe, i am welcomed with open arms. They have everything from toast to rump steaks plenty to choose from, as well as plenty of different hot and cold drinks. coffee can be either fresh bean, filter or decaff as they will tell you when u ask. They are always trying to help with whatever u fancy even if its not on the menu as much as possible! They get in all local produce and support the village it is locate in.The owner of Crumbs and Cuppa shows good custom and is very lucky to have such lovely girls working for her.I have also spoken to a lot of the locals which go in there everyday and they say they wouldnt change it for the world, very reliable and feel like family everytime they go in there, which just shows what south brent is like a big family by the edge of dartmoor. They can also pre order bread, cakes, sandwichs or any of there meals stated on the menu and even cater for weddings, funerals, partys etc.

What is the point of a Tea Shop which closes at 'tea time' ? After taking our cash, that's the only way to pay by the way, we sat down with our cakes and tea which, to be fair, were fine, out pops Mrs Mop (pic), pulls down the blinds and starts mopping the floor. What ! ! We had arranged for someone else to drop in to meet us and had to move up the road to another little place who were happy to have us... and it wasn't yet four o'clock. I ask you.

What should be a delightful cafe in a stunning village on the edge of Dartmoor falls tragically short. Whilst the waitress is polite and amicable she is unfortunately inefficient and the food took far to long to come. There was a lack of effort and the quality of the food and its ingredients where poor. The cafe is not only letting itself down but letting South Brent down as a destination!

We popped into Crumbs and Cuppa last week for lunch, when it was tipping with rain outside. The place is clean, the cakes are tempting and the staff are friendly. Soup, my lunchtime staple, is only served in the winter, so I had a steak pasty with salad. The pasty was tasty and the salad was crispy fresh but they had 'run out' of vinaigrette, although each table had olive oil and balsamic vinegar, which implied greater aspirations. Coffee is only of the instant variety and I had to ask for more milk, which was generously provided. The diner on the next table was eating chips that looked absolutely perfect, crispy and golden, so the place is above average but not quite 'very good'. Good would be a fair assessment. Good enough to return, though.

We popped into Crumbs & Cuppa one afternoon with a view to having a light bite. We asked the girl behind the counter before we ordered if they accept payment by card. We were informed that they don't so we told her we would just nip to the ATM to get some cash and then come back.In less than 5 minutes we were back in the coffee shop, ready to order. As I started ordering, the girl behind the counter said "We've stopped serving food". It was 3 O'clock and it stated on the door that they stopped serving at 4 O'clock! We asked if we could just get a cream tea and the response was a flat "No!" Miserable beggars! Why we weren't informed that they weren't serving food any more when we told the girl we would be back with cash is baffling! In short, they don't want your custom so I advise trying to spend your money elsewhere. :(

Having visited Crumbs & Cuppa a couple of years ago we were greatly surprised by the transformation of the 'New' Crumbs & Cuppa which is now under new ownership. My husband opted for the rump steak (cooked to his liking) I enjoyed a Devon Cream Tea and our two boys tucked into a Full English Breakfast (one of our boy's is a vegetarian and fortunately they were also able to cater for this also). The staff were friendly, polite and nothing was too much trouble. We have now pre booked our meals for our walking group in July and our confident that we will be received well.

Total lack of customer service. Walked in to order takeaway coffee and absolutely no acknowledgment of presence. She continued preparing orders without even acknowledging me or saying ‘I’ll be a moment’ which is not taxing to do. After 5 minutes of being completely ignored I left and got my coffee elsewhere. At least acknowledge customers when they’re waiting!

Not visited for a while and there’s a new manager in place. On arrival we were told that your booked table “was in there with your name on it”. The open fires have been replaced with what looks like dog baskets so the atmosphere seemed cold. Food was ok by the way and as the evening progressed we were being pushed to move on. At this point the restaurant was less than half full with no one waiting to sit to eat. I asked for an Irish coffee and the reply was simply “no”.Then out of the blue he exited from the kitchen grabbed our glasses which weren’t empty and said” we are closing in 5 minutes please leave” . This was at 9.55 pm with other drinkers still in the bar. Bloody ignorant and rude I think and won’t be returning
