Excellent bar style pizza. Crispy edges and cheesy perfection.

Service: absolutely horrendous. We had a party of about 12 and the woman who waited on us was obnoxiously rude. She treated our table so poorly and we watched as she was nice to every other table she had. We were patient and understand it takes time to make pizzas. We are in our 20s and we’re very respectful and nice to her. She had older people at the other tables she was serving and she treated them so nicely. We were not rowdy at all and it’s like she hated us the moment we came in. She ruined the end of the night for my birthday. She also forgot one of the pizzas we ordered and my friend didn’t have food until an hour later. She was mad when we asked for waters for the table, and i’m not sure why because that’s a normal thing to ask for. The pizza: Pizza was pretty good and I enjoyed it but the service was so horrible i’ll probably never go back again. Pickle pizza is delicious.

4/2024- I'm editing my review once again because I stopped eating meat at the beginning of the year and the veggie pizzas they make here are out of this world. The veggies are always fresh and good as hell. If you don't appreciate this pizza you don't appreciate ART and you should try it again.Just updated my review because my passion for this pizza grows daily. I would do insane things for this pizza. If this business ever closes, I will actually die. Tangy sauce, amazing cheese blend, plenty of pepperoni, LACY, CRISPY EDGES! No pizza crust compares to this. It is so good, Every! Time!. This is the kind of place you can leave without having to look in the box. I will say I personally believe it's best eaten cooled down/completely cold. But if I could give 10/5 I would. I'm honestly wondering if I should give the staff a Christmas bonus this year because I love it that much.

I tried the Venus Cafe for the first time today for takeout. I ordered a green pepper onion and mushroom pizza. I got there early and got it as soon as he popped it into the box, so there was no time for it to steam in the box. I usually have my dog with me, so that's why I get take-out a lot. A little bit of flop at the beginning due to it being piping hot and loaded with toppings. Tasted great, and the price was good. This place is one of the goats of this style of pizza, ssbp. The only complaint is that they use sliced toppings, not chopped. And that's just a personal preference due to years of thinking I took a clean bite of pizza, and then a chunk of blistering topping comes with it and tags me on the chin. Lol. I went to the takeout side and dealt directly with the cook, and he was very nice. I have no clue about the bar area, but friendly kitchen staff speaks volumes for a place. I'm slowly trying all the places that do this style of pizza in the area, and this one did not disappoint.

BEST BAR PIZZA I HAVE EVER HAD!!!

It's been years since I had the pizza. It was better than I remembered and it was also the first time I ate inside. Great food and service. The take card, which is something we didn't think to check before going. Greek salad doesn't have lettuce in it. First time I'd had it like that but it was wonderful and I didn't miss the lettuce at all!! Thank you! Also for a Sunday afternoon it wasn't packed like some other local places. It was very comfortable and there was a parking lot and plenty of on street parking too.

Best pizza ever. If you like bar style pizza that is. The specials are good. My favorite (buffalo chicken with grilled chicken) isn't what it used to be. But the simple pizzas are to die for. Pepperoni well done is by far the greatest pizza I've had since the grilled buff in 2007. My brother swears by the buff chicken with nuggets, not grilled chicken to this day. Plain cheese is incredible. Less is more it seems. I'd try more styles, but I'm addicted to the Pepperoni. Nice small building. Able to handle large parties. I drive an hour to go there at least once a year with my brother for the best pizza and the nostalgia. If i was closer I'd buy them over papa ginos

place is a classic, so the ambiance should never be considered here. this is an OG spot so the older it looks the better the rating. pizza is delish...wings are a sleeper here..really really good. juicy, not crispy

Love this gem of a cafe at the top of the ferry steps (East Portlemouth side). Perfect for a sit down coffee and ice cream overlooking the estuary or as a take away for the beach. Dog friendly. Not always open as it must be hard to staff bless them! Wish they would do the ice cream scoops again I used to love buying a mint choc chip or honeycomb cone. 💖

While staying in Torcross, we decided to drive to East Portlemouth. As others have said, quite narrow lanes to get there...and you should follow the signs rather than sat nav! Once there, we parked outside the cafe, where there are 4 or 5 on-road spaces. We planned to get the ferry over to Salcombe, but decided to have a hot drink at the cafe first. Plenty of seats (outdoor only) with great views, a friendly guy working there and what looked like quite an extensive menu of brunches and lunches. Next time we're in the area, we'll probably have some lunch there too. If planning on using the ferry, it's a 2 minute walk down a few steps near the cafe

The location of this on the Tripadvisor map is incorrect - wrong side of the harbour ! We did try and come to visit but based on the map alone weren’t able to. Left 3 stars - unlikely the cafes fault.

Absolutely delicious. Best South Shore Bar Pizza around. I crave it like crazy. The sauce is savory perfection. The melted cheese is gooey and plentiful. The toppings are generous. Burnt edges all the way baby! My only concern is that my body can’t handle as much Venus pizza as I wish it could consume (I wish I could eat 2 or more pizzas in one sitting). The dessert pizzas are delicious too. Not a fan of the buffalo tossed boneless tenders, but the pizza is to die for. Thank you John & family for the excellence through and through. You guys make our family’s pizza meals extra special and memorable.

Ordered 2 pizzas to go been getting same kind on weekend for a month now ,was very disappointed BQ chicken very little on it linguisa and onion little bit on it.

I was picking up a pizza a few weeks back at the takeout counter when I heard the boss in the back screaming and berating an employee. I believe the boss’s name was Mike and he was having a full blown tantrum taking it out on this employee for being late. I don’t care how bad of an employee it was. You do not treat people like that. Be the bigger person and take that employee somewhere private. If I were that employee’s S.O.and I heard how Mike treated her, he would have had to explain to me, face to face, how he thought that was an appropriate way to treat another human being. The pizza doesn’t taste good enough to justify giving Mike any of your money considering he is a full grown man-child who isn’t professional enough to treat his employees like human beings.

This is more like a question then a review. Why your menu showing price of 11.15 while on doordash it says 15 bucks. See picture below.

Haven't had a pizza from there in a long time had a double dough extra cheese and linguica it was unbelievable so good my girlfriend and I ate it she doesn't even like thick Pizza like that but she loved this one the only problem it's a small bar pizza I know it was three toppings but $17.95 very expensive maybe I don't go out enough but I thought that was overpriced for a small buy pizza even and having three toppings

Me and my buddy just left the Venus, bartender never took our food order, figured out why when he scolded us for making fun of the soccer playing on all three screens. He was so but hurt when we were making fun of a soccer flopper, he scolded us for disrespecting a sport he had tattooed on his arm. I didn't recognize the logo but I guess it stood for 'I Love Soccer'. funny thing is i do enjoy watching the sport my buddy and i were just having a little fun never going here again untill that kid gets counseling

Been going there since I was a kid love there pizza

It was okay. Service was very lacking. Greek Salad was not — it was an iceberg lettuce salad with one Kalamata olive added to it. Very, very disappointed in that. Which followed not being able to get a root beer because they were out. Had to wait forever for the pizza. The pizza was good. I liked the roasted red peppers you could choose as a topping. I’d go back for a pizza, but would probably call in a takeaway order.

Their bar pizzas are addictive. Always get the same order and they only hiccuped once but I don't blame them as they get slammed at night.

Ultimate dive bar. Pizza was great, beers were super cold, and the waitress/bartender was AWESOME! They close early, but worth going, to say the least. Go ..you won't be disappointed!

As long as you’re not afraid of some very narrow roads (and non guaranteed parking), Venus Cafe is in an awesome location with great options for veggies and vegans. We had the tofu burger and a drink after paddle boarding around the estuary. We walked down a footpath onto the beach, but there’s another path to the ferry slipway to Salcombe - which is ideal if you don’t fancy the drive or parking! If you want to bring your own paddle boards and go to the beach nearby, make sure you get there early!

I've been on a quest to try out the local pizza places offering bar pizza! I ordered from Venus Cafe for the first time last night through door dash. The food was absolutely delicious! We ordered the Venus Special, Pepperoni Pizza, buffalo wings, and Greek salad. There isn't a bite left. Keep up the good work, Venus Cafe! You gained yourself a loyal customer! :)

We enjoyed using this cafe several times. The food was good and efficiently served with marvellous views.

Very elegant and accessible place. They offer large portions and for fair rates. I loved the meals very much and the waiters were super personal and explanatory. Will definitely recommend this spot.

I drove by visiting town hall and getting coffee at the nearest dunks. Never did visit Venus but Google thinks so. It looks good and I hear good things so 5 stars it is.

Excellent bar pizza and the Greek salad and home made dressing was delicious. Compared to lynwoods I would say they are similar but I would give it to lynwoods on overall quality of ingredients and would say the variety of toppings and selection of specialty pizzas at Venus would definitely make me a repeat offender there for sure. The pics were an hour late after we ate but in the Pic are cheese, all meat, and Venus special.

Went here the other day as never been to salcombe before and was surprised to see another venus the guy joe how runs the place dose an amazing job really friendly and helpful my wife as a food allergy and he was very helpful in finding her something to eat and drink and local information about walks and things to dothe views from their seating area and beautiful menu is very good for somewhere that small and duck wraps and fantastic good job Venus

Spent way too much for the quality to be honest. How do you run out of pepperoni when your most popular dish is pizza? How do you run out of mozzarella sticks? Disappointed really. Will give credit to the one pepperoni pizza we were able to get. It was good, not the best we have ever had. A bit too burnt for my liking and the pizza looked sloppy. Was not a fan of the wings or mac n cheese bites.
