Great place to eat , you can also take your dog in which is great. Really nice staff and the food is lovely, well done to the chef.

Good service however let badly down by the food. Onions and garlic and cream on sour dough nothing exciting needed seasoning so quite bland Ravioli filled with beetroot very poor . Ravioli Undercooked pasta hard and filling no flavour at all . Portion chips again just cooked some under and hard Side of green salad was just a plate of leaves very little dressing . Would have been nice to have something to elevate it bar just leaves in it . Coffee even the frothed up milk was watery so cappuccino it wasn’t ! Price wise very high considering the poor standard of food .

Excellent team, Excellent food. We haven't been to Kingsbridge for many years and this pub came on recommendation...and didn't disappoint. Very well organised and friendly team. Will come again before we leave for home.

Lovely meal at decent prices. The pie was delicious and the mash was creamy. Good sized veggie burger, wine was good price and good range.

We booked an evening meal here as a birthday treat, we were a bit dubious after reading some of the reviews, all I can say is it was absolutely fantastic, we had starter’s mains and the mini dessert with coffee, all the food was excellent and could not be faulted, the staff were all very friendly and knowledgeable, thank you for a lovely evening and if we’re back in the area we will definitely come back .

We nipped in for a quick lunch after visiting the dentist. Both of us decided on the Ploughman's because we hadn't had one for years, it's almost a retro-dish now. We were certainly not disappointed, tasty bread, ham, cheese and an interesting piccalilli. The salad didn't come with any dressing but they brought me some olive oil when requested. It was an enjoyable meal.

My husband and I have been visiting this pub for a number of years and as 'outsiders' the staff have always been welcoming and friendly. The food here is excellent, from their Sunday roast to their delightful shredded beef salad. The decision to relocate to the area was greatly assisted by the draw of fantastic food 😁

Came here to do some work, McLaren is the manager and he was great... Friendly and professional with a great attitude towards the hospitality industry... He takes great pride in the work he is doing. The pub was looking great as you can see from the photos.. And what a beautiful location down by the South coast where the weather is usually much nicer than up north. Huge amount of outside seating but very limited carparking on site Serving food, drinks and coffee Ideal for those hot summer days 😎

Seven stars is reaching a bit because after the turmoil I experienced I’m afraid I can only muster up a 3. I asked for a table for one and was seated at a table for 2, completely disregarding my VERY simple request, NOT happy! I ordered a chicken schnitzel with a side order of Vietnamese curry, double beef burger and a steak and ale (Lush). I noticed you guys are still using notepads to take my order? Get with the times or fall behind, your choice. Food came out, a whole lot of chicken but the same can’t be said for the schnitzel. As a German I was beyond appalled as I’ll have you know, schnitzels are the foundation of our economy! And I just have to mention I saw somebody get out his feet and his yellow toe nails reminded me of a chip, put me off. Also would like to mention while I’m at it, please advertise the chalk tables for what they are, almost did a line of chalk. Thanks!

Stayed a week in Kingsbridge, close to the Seven Stars. It's a lovely friendly pub, serving a good range of alcoholic and non alcoholic drinks. Great food too, and service from the staff was excellent, also dog friendly. Top notch bar and restaurant.

I couldn’t believe my eyes when all deserts on the board were Gluten free! After being diagnosed as a celiac, I often only have the option of ice cream if I would like something sweet. Really impressed and the food is amazing! Recommend for celiacs 👏

Back in Devon after many years. The Seven Stars never disappoints. Warm and welcoming with great beer on tap at a sensible price.

Very disappointed. As a local group we have been several times and there is inevitably a problem. This will be our last visit. Ignored on arrival despite few people in bar, waitress denied that the offer we had booked for was current (it was, as advertised on their website), requested condiments did not arrive and there was a dispute when bill was settled - again about the offer we had booked online for. This spoilt our lunch. But - food good!

I regularly have a beer at the Seven Stars but we haven't eaten there for a while, called to book (after Open Table failed to work) and got great service from the get go, wanted a table in the bar (we prefer to the restaurant area which is little over lit, whereas the bar has a great ambience) and was offered a table by the fire. And on a cold stormy night this was ideal, great service from the team, a very good value 'Supper Club' menu (including a good deal on wine. Which we took full advantage of...) and of course, good beers. We were a small group of 4, arrived pretty early, ended up staying until closing time as we really enjoyed the food, drink and banter. A very comfortable pub with a good menu and our recommendation is to book the bar area if you can, its the older part of the pub and a great place to sit.

My first visit to the this Seven Stars in Kingsbridge. Service was excellent, extremely professional from all waiting staff. Food presentation was great. Looked like chef and kitchen assistants did their best with bare minimum. Worked in hospitality myself for 16 years, so familiar with costs and overheads. Additionally took current economic crisis into account when submitting this, however still felt the menu here was overpriced with sparse portions. Understand we're not in the States but expected a Sirloin steak to be twice this size for £30. To the staffs credit, a medium rare was cooked to perfection, obviously flame grilled, really delicious.. just far too small for me. The fries portion was fair, more than most restaurants serve in a medium dish but the other sides were really anaemic. No spring onion, coleslaw, cucumber, celery or other vegetables to garnish the salad. I think if you're going to serve a salad, serve more than just a few leaves! Also of this opinion about other diners orders on our table, all served with just two sweet leafs each. Not a huge fan of mushrooms either and was unaware these were included with my own order, no mention of them on the menu. The Peppercorn sauce did not resemble any I had come across before. It looked very dark and although creamy it tasted really weak, almost like it contained wholegrain mustard or some kind gravy broth/ stock(?) The restaurant was quiet with a pleasant atmosphere, larger than average tables and fixtures were moderately clean (if a bit sticky). It looked a bit scruffy and dated. I state 'moderately' too because a previous customer had wrapped their bungee hair bands around our salt and pepper cellars which had not been picked up on. A bit gross, truth be told. I would not rave about this restaurant but it was okay. Food was all properly prepared and hot. Despite my criticism, a positive experience however there are other nearby restaurants serving similar menus at more competitive prices. Another establishment across the road, for example, is more bare bones, slower service with a more claustrophobic layout ...but the portion sizes are much larger with more plate variety for your money.

We checked the reviews which were favourable and decided to give it a go. It’s a pub meal with a fair menu to suit most palates. The service was both friendly and quick. When the food arrived it was presented well with a decent quantity and quality. We had several drinks (doubles) and a sweet each and was very happy with the bill.

Excellent from start to finish, we went as a party of 15, could not fault anything. Amazing food & service. We will be back. Steak was cooked to perfection.

Amazing tasty well presented food, the wild mushroom, spinach & tarragon suet pudding & steak and ale pie with selection of vegetable and mash potatoes was just beautiful. Staff were great very helpful & friendly, very busy placed so glad we booked, would highly recommend

Went in on a Friday afternoon. Had to wait 30 mins because they had lots of reservations. When we got our food it looked amazing, we got the burger, Vietnamese curry and calamari as a side. The presentation was incredible and the taste was even better. And I don't usually like squid. Highly recommend eating here. You won't be disappointed. Love to the team for the effort they put in.

visited today (sunday 5th) was hoping to come around have a lovely family meal with my family was let down, the young waitress with brown hair seemed to treat us like we were keeping her there she was very abrupt and rude. i completely understand she was only a 16/17 year old girl although she seemed overly stuck up with us. not the best experience

A wonderful supper with family and friends. The food was excellent (gluten free and dairy and egg allergies were well catered for). The service was excellent and there was a lovely warm atmosphere in the pub.

Went for a late lunch, sat outside. Plenty of tables free. Asked if we could order some food for outside and was told by one of the bar maids they were fully booked?? Bizarre. Obviously did'nt want to serve any more food?

Had a lovely lunch here in September 2023. Staff were very friendly, really good looking menu with lots of choice. And food was great when arrived - we thoroughly enjoyed our visit here.

Am absolute delight to dine there for a classic delicious Sunday lunch. The beef (Angus) was so tender it hardly needed a knife and the veggie Wellington was fantastic. The chef, Maclaren, is so talented and a pleasure to meet.

My partner and I had booked a table for some lunch we ordered the small plates as it sounded enticing. We ordered four small plates for £22 which we thought was a great deal. We had just sat down with our beer and within a couple of minutes our food arrived which rang alarm bells and after trying the food the chicken wings tasted foul and tasted off , the pork belly was completely pure fat. The katsu bon Bon was complete mush Very disappointed shall not be retuning

Went there at what must have been a quiet time of the week. Having said this, the members of staff were very pleasant and attentive and the food was good. A nice lunch.

Fitted us in at short notice, great food, with a good choice & not expensive. Wine list best I have ever seen in a pub, easy to decide what was a good choice. Service excellent, chef/owner South African, which tells us it should be good & well run, which it was.

This is an A1 place to eat and drink. Have been twice and food and service have been excellent. No car parking but only a short walk from good parking space. I think it's the best place to eat in Kingsbridge.

The Seven Stars is by far the best place to eat in Kingsbridge and the pub is welcoming with plenty of seating inside and out ,making this an ideal pub for all seasons. Mac helped with our food choice and he was very passionate about the great selection of food offered. We had the Pork Tomahawk, padron peppers, skin-on chips and King Prawn and crap Linguini and both were exceptional. The staff always great us with a smile and that reflects on the wonderful owners of the pub that do a fantastic job.Well done The Seven Stars

Decent food. We were seating at a table where it was a chalk board and the kids allowed to draw on it which they loved. Sat in the conservatory part which had a nice atmosphere and the food was good albeit a little expensive for what it was.

We chose this place to book a meal to mark the end of a family getaway in the south hams. Service and atmosphere was ok but the food seemed a bit bland. I had the pie which was chicken and ham hock and whilst it was filled with lots of sauce it lacked any real flavour and the meat content was very low. The others in my party said that their food was pretty average and certainly nothing to rave about.

Lovely Pub with cozy atmosphere, staff was very kind. Could have sat in that wing chair in the corner for ages. Good selection of beers.

Came in for some lunch and was greeted by a lovely lady behind the bar, unfortunately it went downhill from there. Ordered a coke which just tasted like fizzy water. Also ordered a calamari starter and the seasoning just slid off and left a greasy rubber ring behind which wasn’t appetising. We ordered a double cheeseburger which came looking and tasting like it was frozen and was very greasy and for around £15 that’s unacceptable. We also ordered the chicken schnitzel which had no flavour at all. Overall the food we had was extremely disappointing and extremely overpriced for what it was. Absolutely do not recommend!

The manager Claire is ruining this pub, making very damaging false accusations against customers, telling people it’s her pub, and banning people because she doesn’t like them not because they have done anything wrong. During her shift at the seven stars Claire stormed round to a pub myself and my partner were in to shout and scream at my partner and his friend for an ongoing issue that was nothing to do with her, shouting that they were banned from “her pub” she then made serious accusations (serious, disgusting and damaging accusations) against my partner and rang the police! My partner distraught on hearing this went to speak to the actual manager (Neil!) who unfortunately was on a day off spoke to a very Helpful South African member of staff that accessed the CCTV clearly showing my partner the whole time he was in the pub doing absolutely nothing wrong! Disgusting lies, unprofessional trouble making because of Claire’s personal dislike for a person! Claire seems to like drama and trouble, thank goodness people know that Claire is nothing but a trouble maker as weeks have gone by since this happened and no surprise to see the police have not been in touch because it was a disgusting lie fabricated by Claire that could of been very damaging for my partner. (We have kept copy’s of the CCTV that shows my partner clearly doing nothing!)

We ate here a few nights on our stay in Kingsbridge, friendly service and a warm welcome on arrival. Food is reasonably priced, good portions and tasty too. Small menu but enough to make our choices. Definitely recommend this place.

Visited here as a family. Reviews/ menu looked very appealing, nicely kept little pub. Food was extremely disappointing. Steaks were over cooked to order, burgers were dry with burnt caramelised onions, the chicken pie was apparently bland. Real shame, good selection of drinks and staff really accommodating, just the main part of it being the food was a total let down.

Character pub with great staff. A good welcome at the bar. There is a varied menu and we all enjoyed what we had. We sat comfortably outside in the sun and could not have asked for anything to be different. We will go back again if we have the opportunity.

We just had a fabulous dinner here. The staff are friendly and attentive. I had a 5oz steak w chips and ordered buttered greens on the side. Steak was cooked exactly as requested (medium rare), chips were sensational and the greens were super fresh and steamed perfectly. My husband had a sesame chicken burger, he doesn’t usual like crumbed meats, but he loved his burger. He also had a crumble for dessert and that was excellent too. I forgot to take a before photo but I think the after picture will back up our review. Highly recommended. There is ample indoor and outdoor seating options.

Friendly staff and overall nice food, but don't have the steak! £28 and it was flavourless and chewy. Double burger was very good and chips were nice but quite small portions.

Food middling to poor, also witnessed staff and apparent manager trying to get aggressive customer to leave with little success. May have been one of bad evening but won't be returning any time soon.

Seriously went above and beyond for us by feeding us after the kitchen had closed, obviously took pity on us after a bad experience in a different restaurant in town... But feed a group of 7 of us. Absolute legend's... Couldn't of asked for more. Great food and awesome staff.

Read the reviews and checked it out just to be disappointed, gave it a second try ended up with the same result. Tasteless food with heavy seasoning. I do not recommend this place. We ate some of the bar snacks then entrees. It was poorly prepared and low quality.

As a person who writes reviews on matters of travel, places, people and things, it seems appropriate that I WARN TRAVELLERS of this location. The manager a middle aged man from South Africa hangs around the bar; he seems like a used car salesman! Everything is shiny and new but look behind the curtain to find the roaches. I mean the food; the FOOD is AWFUL. They load it up with seasoning and sauce but it is overcooked, dry and tasteless. Now, it does have some top shelf alcohol, Lagavulin, Dalmore and others, yet that is all. Lastly, if you want to be around down to earth, excuse me beneath it kind of people then maybe this is the place for you!

I do not recommend this place for food maybe drink if your interested in some local snobs. The place is clean with a modern decor, yet the average clientele belongs at a city office not a country pub. As a traveller, I can recommend two restaurants in this town, the Bakery and Twenty seven. If your after cheap eats try the Creek side pub.

From the moment we walked through the door, we were made to feel so welcome and so was our dog, the lovely blonde waitress was so friendly and the food was superb. We are returning back in a few months time and will definitely be booking a table here again

Decent range of drinks. Probably better choice of beer/lager/IPA than anywhere else in Kingsbridge. But a tad cold. Not much seating space when you factor in the diners - we got bumped out of our seat for a family eating.

Fish and chips were bland but decent. The chips were cooked properly and so was the fish but the fish was dull like it was frozen.

I'm dairy-free, but definitely NOT vegan - a mistake made by many eating places - but Seven Stars were great. Staff friendly and helpful and adaptable. So lovely to be able to eat out and be accommodated and not judged. Here again in Jan 2023 and the same wonderful help with my dietary needs. Fabulous trout fillet main with wintergreens and they happily altered starter to suit me. Brilliant place and will be back with friends.

Amazing Roast Dinner today...totally recommend it but at 1pm some choices had been used up already as fully booked plus the online booking system had failed in spite of email and online confirmation, thankfully, as there were no unreserved tables but we were given a table that was booked for later so I suggest phone or in person booking to be safe but the food was really superb and very attentive, friendly, willing and engaging staff and the Chef too. Thankyou for a wonderful lunch. Wull be back.

During our 4 day break in this attractive town we visited this pub 3 times! We were always welcomed by Neil, his wife and their team - and always received quick service despite their being really busy with Christmas parties. A great place to go...

Really inviting atmosphere, food was perfect and lovely location. Next time I'm out in Kingsbridge this will be top of my list to visit.
