We went there on the 13th February me my daughter and granddaughter there was a couple in front of us and a young chef and in the middle of serving us the manager or owner totally embarrassed the young chef shouting at him to get back into the kitchen it was awful for that poor boy he was trying to explain his self but the mouth behind the bar wasn’t having it he didn’t make his self look important he made himself look like an idiot but the food was amazing mind you the chef who served was gobby as well the young lady behind the bar looked embarrassed all the manager kept shouting was get back into the kitchen now the young chef said but I was only the mouth piece said kitchen now how RUDE .

Oh my goodness 😳 meat free "chicken wasnt part of the carvery deal :WHY?!only meats ,I had to pay almost £10 for dry like Sahara, tasteless like sole of the shoe ,flat,pale uninterested nasty two pieces of quorn (aldi £1.99)pieces tut tut ,yuckkkk ,money down the drain I say!! Educate a chef who's specialises at least one vegan dish !!Damn,am furious 😠 3*for two lovely ladies whom was sooo welcoming to our doggy

Carvery brilliant previous week, but unfortunately not this time, roast potatoes burnt and over salted, veg looked like it had been there for hours, meat was ok, the highlight was the mash potatoes

My friend was very happy with the pork roast. My fish stew was all right - good sauce, crunchy bread, would be better if the prawns weren't mini size. I liked the truffle fries. The service we received today was great. Smily, timely and attentive -very different from some previous reviews fortunately. Good atmosphere and decor with clean surroundings. I was able to have a refill of my tea and to use NHS discount on our bill which is definitely a plus! I would be happy to come again!

We ve eaten here a few times over the last 6 months and it's always been hit and miss. This is a Stonehouse restaurant so pizza and carvery with a fairly wide choice of other meals.This time the gravy was water thin and the food barely warm . It was all nicely cooked and the place was clean and tidy. Staff were obliging and pleasant but over all a disappointment. The last time we visited was so different fresh hot food. And on a previous visit I had fish and chips which was good. At the end of the day it is a budget restaurant

A very good meal at a reasonable price.

Food was appalling, everything overcooked. Everything was either burnt or stuck to the serving dishes, spoke to chef, he wasn't interested. Meat was sparse, told no turkey, within 10 minutes of sitting down, fresh turkey and veg came out. At £9.49 per head it was a rip off. Manager refunded our money, but the excuse given for such a disgusting meal was he was on a break, then to top it, we got told we had to vacate our table by 5.30. Extremely poor customer service

Arrived shortly after 7 for a pre booked table only to be told " there's a bit of gammon left but everything else is being cleared away " , what's the point of confirming my booking when there's no food left by 7.30.? it worked out wel in the end because we had a delicious carvery at Toby in Eastbourne who were still bringing out food at 8.50.

Excellent carvery, one of our party had scampi, all food was hot, fresh and fast. Tables were clean as were the loos

Love this place. The food is always spot on and the staff are so accommodating and friendly. Can’t recommend it highly enough!

It's great if you like that sort of thing. By which I mean a chain experience. Buffet breakfast, luke warm greasy bacon all stuck together, rubber eggs, stale coffee from an urn, one of those toasting machines you queue up for...etc. Clearly lots of people do because the place was heaving...with very uncouth types including one whose ringtone on his phone the c word being shouted at high volume and another who regarded cutlery as an optional extra. Clearly some local villages were missing their idiots when I visited.

Had dinner for my daughter’s 21st birthday. Staff were lovely, made it special. Took a photo of our group for us and also did a 21 today in chocolate sauce on her dessert plate. Food come out in good time and was delicious. Great value for money - Highly recommend

The food took along time to come out! We waiting almost an hour for our mains, one of which had to be sent back. The gammon was fatty and the cauliflower cheese was so dry. Would not be recommending! Much nicer places close by!

Lovely staff. Pizza was excellent. Carvery was sadly the ‘end’ of that service so vegetables were overcooked and drying out, stuffing was inedible but the meats were all very good We visited a fortnight ago at 2pm and everything looked and tasted freshly cooked and served…nothing overcooked…delicious!

Went for a carvery at the Kings Arms, near Battle again, so updating my review. We love this place and now go here on a regular basis. The food is lovely, particularly the carvery, which is alway beautifully cooked, hot and plentiful. The friendly staff make it such a pleaseant place to visit. There is plenty of free parking spaces. Once visited, you will make it a habit too!!

Went with a party of 9 for lunch. Not very busy and seemingly plenty of staff, but the service was slow and a little rude! Food was mediocre at best. No ale btw, not even bottled. None of my family will be returning here.

Been coming here regularly for the past 4 years, consistenly good quality food, not amazing, but good and that's perfectly fine for me because it's consistent and I'm happy to keep coming back. The prices are spot on. Portions sizes are good too.

Hi My mum booked a table for 4 at 1.45pm today 12th December, she phoned up beforehand and was told we did not have to choose starters ect as we was only a group of 4, the manager I believe who served us and said that was incorrect first of all my mum wouldn't lie what she was told . I have prostate cancer and other severe health conditions as not all disabilities are visible. I wasn't that good or I would have said something they have very little choice for starters no prawn cocktails you can run prawns under cold water to defrost doesn't take that long . So only my mum had prawn cocktail we had dough balls wouldn't class chicken wings as a starter on a Christmas menu pate yes. Glad the rest of us didn't have prawn cocktails as it was presented very poorly lettuce leave hardly any sauce that was it and serving prawn coctail with white bread is a no no . Dough balls were undercooked garlic dip was just oil no garlic taste at all . Now for the main Christmas carvery meat was good ie Turkey all the veg was luke warm sprouts hard carrots tinned was not fresh veg only roast potatoes and mash and Swede stuffing absolutely no take cold . Gravy luke warm oops Yorkshire puddings flat and chewy . Puddings were OK again luke warm sponge apple pie and custard. I don't do reviews normally but the whole experience was very poor. I would normally complain if things are not correct doesn't matter how much you pay. When we was in there it was very quite just a few older people next to us . How can you justify charging £3.20 for a normal size bottle of coke. I was in the pub trade for over 30 years so I know how a pub restaurant and customers should be treated . Also how the food should be presented definitely not luke warm . I apologise about doing this review but I felt so strongly about the quality of the food and one of your staff saying my mum did not need to book the starters ect . Not even a Christmas cracker I hope people have booked for Christmas Day get fresh hot food . Happy Christmas 🎄 Lee Needs a complete refit was much better when it was crown 👑 carveries .

Great for breakfast, reasonable cost, help yourself. Reasonable carvery

Came here for Sunday lunch with the family and was very impressed. The place was clean and the staff were very friendly, moving our table when requested. A baby bowl was just 99p for my son to have carvery food and the rest of us all had carveries too. The food was really good and it was quick and easy to order. Staff were really friendly and accommodating and all seemed to get on with one another in a way that made for a really nice atmosphere. Highly recommend.

Food wasn't great, burger was like it was from a burger van and had no taste. Staff member serving us had very long dirty nails which was gross. The other one serving, you could tell didn't like her job, ordered a drink on the app and it took 10 mins so I went to the bar and they were only just making it despite only being 1 other person in the bar area. Desert was okay but that's about it. Wouldn't recommend it at all.

We met with a large group of family and friends for Breakfast as we do most years. Non of us were made aware of changes requiring a log in to park. It is not usual practice here in rural Sussex. Failed to notice any signage as it was raining very hard. Received a £100 parking fine today. Despite a good breakfast this seems very harsh treatment of loyal customers and I shall not be recommending The Kings Arms to any local residents again.

Given table next to door and mantlepiece. Extremely uncomfortable! Food not up to standard. Staff not helpful, obvious neglect condiments wet.

Delicious carvery ,served hot ,decent coffee ,what more could I have hoped for ,also very pleasant staff ,would highly reccomend.

Went for the calvary , however. There was a dirty looking lady rummaging through the roasties for 5 minutes. Obviously trying to find some her teeth could get through. Safe to say I decided to not eat there.

I visited here for the first time after it been recommended the roast by a few friends, I cannot fault the food it was presented well, the man on the carvery was great and it all tasted delicious. Unfortunately the customer service was terrible, we arrived 10 minutes early was told to get a drink at the bar, the lady who served us definitely cannot like working there she was miserable had no people skills. No one had asked if we had eaten there before so I ended up asking the table next to us where to order our food. As I said the food was great, we ate our food and went, we was never meal checked or acknowledged. Such a shame about staff but amazing food.

Apart from cramming 8 people around what was clearly a 6 person table, everything was great. Food was good, service was good but the elbow wars and parking situiation were not good.

Had a lovely lunch here today the staff were helpful and happy and the food was great fresh and hot and served with a smile, it's very good value for money and has a large car park so makes it a less stressful visit.

Haven't been for a long time. Met with daughter both parked in car park as we used to in the past when we used to come for the carvery. Had a drink and left. Have both just recieved a £100fine. Absolutely ridiculous! Upon looking into why, found out that we were now required to scan some sort of app to park. Didn't even notice any signs (although we now know they are there) just didn't even occur to us about this. If there is no payment required for parking why on earth have we got fines. We had a drink and as there are photos of our cars I'm sure cctv will show us entering and leaving the place. So absolutely no need for this at all. At the very least bar staff should advise all customers of this. Will not be returning and certainly will not recommend. Disgraceful.

Service very slow and not particularly welcoming. Meat portions you could see day light through. Roast potatoes very small and not many left.

Very acceptable food at a very acceptable price! Really reasonable drinks prices too. Went today and was surprised to see it so quiet, I know the weather is pretty inhospitable but considering the time of year (15th December) we were expecting a crowd. They need and deserve your business.

Food was great however we had several issues that took a while to resolve - tried to order on app and got to payment / checkout and couldn’t get to actually pay - went to bar and ordered and was you’d that 25% off voucher wouldn’t work as I had already tried to use it on the app that didn’t work - after 10 mins barmaid got to a close figure by deducting the drinks - not quite 25% off £163 but at this point was close enough. Server at carvery didn’t know the pigs in blankets came with the works however he was really good and the food was quality. Waiting staff were really good and clearly ran off their feet but really good. I will advise people to come but not use the app as it isn’t reliable enough and really frustrating - think it needs looking into.

What a great breakfast, staff are very polite and helpful the service was great .definitely recommend breakfast here... again a fantastic breakfast.

Fantastic pub with great staff and wonderful food and drinks

Having not been here before but having read good and bad reviews but heard verbally how good it was we thought we'd give it a go, vehicle registration in the restaurant is the future, we were met by a very rushed member of staff but she was very helpful on how to order food and drink, as we got there rather late in the evening she informed us that if we wanted the carvery we should hurry as the meat was running out, there was quite a variety on the menu, and reasonably priced, we got our tickets for the carvery and as there wasn't anyone there we got our food quickly, the chef was very friendly and asked what we wanted, there was quite a lot on my plate, the food was hot and tasty, flavoured gingerbread coffee finished off the meal nicely, The carvery was very reasonably priced at £8.99, the soft drinks though refreshing as they were but expensive for small bottles, but was expecting that as drink markups are always pricey, overall will recommend it to our family and friends.

Good quick service and food is nice to what you would expect from a carvery. More variety of vegetables would be nice. Plenty of parking which is a definite plus.

Unfortunately carvery was very disappointing this time... We don't live local and is long drive down for day trip at seaside...and we've had carvery here plenty of times over the years...however it appears 4.50 pm on a Tuesday after bank hol mon is not a good time to come it appeared! we was served small child portion..I checked child menu after at table..and yes this serving was cost and size of small child plate..! good job actually..as food wasn't up to standard...the roast potato's which on previous visits are gorgeous..this time was so hard under extreme heaters that I tried to open them up but hardly any soft potato inside..so couldn't eat them...only allowed 1 meat ..there was only beef or turkey small pieces left over from lunchtime it appeared...and it was such small amount served looked like size of 3 small slivers an inch wide ...it was out under heaters long time so was quite dry...the veg looked like been there all pm from lunchtime actually all of it must have been...when we left about 25 minutes ish later 5.20 ish...all new meats was brought out we had to pass the carvery serving area so witnessed all new 'evening' food being brought out....so in future we'll aim to get there for 5.30 pm...we'll give it 1 more go next time we're down for a day out...next time wel walk through to see food out on display before going to pay and book in...and wel check plate size need to ask for?..I was sure in past it was small/large then extra cost for extra portion.....it seemed to me plate sizes had been reduced re reduced portion size/profits/ child plate..when I queried with food server/carver...he said no this has always been sizes of plates! but we'd never eaten on such small plates before ! Maybe a carvery menu /cost at bar when paying at till could be more informative... I didnt think to take picture as didnt think to give feed back till driving home.....thought time of going could be informative to anyone thinking to go mid pm before evening food brought out... Sorry re feedback this time..but was sooo looking forward to lovely carvery as in past but was very disappointed this time ☹️ In response to your response we did book.....and we didn't get told plate sizes....we asked for small thinking that was a normal dinner plate as opposed to even larger plate(thought you used to have large round traditional and larger round plate )....I'd never seen the child plate in past as an adult option....which actually if that's what someone wants IS an excellent option...a lot of places won't sell an adult a child portion...so well done for that... I shall remember in future to check portion and look at food under heaters (which are tooo hot.. even serving spoons burn ur hands so I use a serviette to hold em) and will book later time.....thanks for response...and of course I will look forward to giving a better feedback next time 👍

Amazing. My mother and I had your roast, the potatoes were amazing, lovely and crispy which I felt I had to instantly compliment on, because a usual carvery would always have large soft roast potatoes, well impressed. Both my mother and I were that impressed that I had to text family members to say how delicious the complete meal was. Plus due to the presentation of the puddings, I also had to stuff your lovely hot chocolate fudge cake. Staff were all organised and polite.

Carvery: turkey was hard and inedible, vegetables tasteless and overcooked. Would not go back

Had a wonderful meal with my partner today. We took advantage of the set menu to save some penny's and it was well worth it. The food was lovely and we left full.

Visited on a Tuesday which was a result as all pizzas were 50% off! We were served by Peter who was polite friendly, professional and obviously enjoyed working with the general public, a credit to the company.(5 stars!!) All other staff were very welcoming and accommodating as well. Food was lovely and very filling. Atmosphere was relaxed and not rushed in any way. All in all a great lunchtime experience that I would highly recommend.

All the staff were very friendly and happy in their work. The guy on the carvery was exceptional . Also the guy clearing tables was very efficient and not intrusive.

Found while looking for carvery. food was amazing and the staff were very friendly and helpful. We had a guest with us that is a wheelchair user and was so considerate towards her needs.

Food has gone downhill since my last visit. My grandson's pizza was ok but my cheeseburger was vile: Two thick slabs of cheap grey, unidentifiable meat, I can only assume was beef. I've had better from roadside burger vans! Decent bun but far too much cheese and the grease from the burgers rendered the whole thing pretty much inedible. Fast service but ruined by other customers and staff disagreeing loudly. Not fun with a 4 year old tbh! Won't be back, which is a shame as I've always enjoyed previous visits.

Good value food during day time weekdays, with set course special prices. Freshly made pizza, ice cream parlour with unlimited visits. Main feature is the carvery, single serving of meat (three choices) for small carvery, with as much as you'd like potatoes, vegetables, etc. or 'traditional' carvery where you pick and mix your meat. Drinks are excellent value, being slightly below average costs. Pleasant outdoor seating, and a public play park + field a stone throw away (not part of the pub). Ample parking with disabled parking and entrance at the rear. Don't forget to register your car inside to make sure you don't get a ticket!

An older lady working there on the meet and greet part, was extremely rude and obnoxious. So much so that we took our reservation out to the garden as to not be in her eyesight. On the reverse the man who serves the carvery was joyful and helpful. Shame all can’t be like him.

Had one of the best burgers ever the dirty clucker then went large with a quarter pounder for good measure. Wow!

Visited today for Sunday carvery, waited in queue to order drinks and food, was totally ignored by the woman serving behind counter, she didn’t acknowledge us at all, she was chatting to her colleague who also was happy to chat and ignore customers. The man serving on the carvery was extremely helpful and polite, shame they don’t take after him.

Really enjoyed visiting for breakfast. We were greeted by Peter Rabbit, who was very cheerful, polite & gave attention to detail. The chef (sorry but didn’t get his name) was also very cheerful & polite. The food was extremely nice too! Looking forward to returning again soon.

We went for a family meal recently. Had a young lady called Fallon who dealt with us. She was extremely helpful, accommodating and great customer service. Had a lovely meal and good time .

Went into the ninfield arms for a family dinner the other day and was lovely the young lady fallon behind the bar was so welcoming and friendly she couldn’t of done anything more to make us feel so welcome!

We go to the King's Arms fairly often and usually come away having enjoyed our meal. This time, the only slight complaint was that the roast potatoes were a little hard - not too much of a problem as we all have our own teeth! However, we all noticed that it is starting to get that unclean smell when the carpets have had one too many spillages on them. And I do agree with one of the previous reviewers who said the whole place could do with a refresh. The disabled toilet leaves a bit to be desired, too. I hope it happens soon as it will probably motivate the staff. On the whole, they are always polite, especially the young man, who I can only identify as having a lovely Yorkshire or Lancashire accent - he's always very nice and helpful. Come on, Stonehouse, look after your property and your hard-working staff!

Went here for breakfast, the eggs had sat there for long time. The staff seems to ignore the holding time for the eggs and staff are unfriendly .

We went there for a carvery lunch and the food was OK. The staff seems like they don’t give a damn about this place, very poor service.

We are French and we came to eat here for a birthday. I absolutely do not recommend burgers with minced steak in them because it is not good at all. I couldn't eat it halfway. In addition, many meals on the menu were not available, nor was it possible to get coffee. Basically, we don’t eat here in the end 😂

I much prefer to order online (even in-restaurant, it saves waiting in queues) and the booking system via the Stonehouse app was really easy to do so. Staff brought over the paper carvery tickets and overall was a lovely evening

went in on Sunday on the off chance, were told that there were no places left and there was a massive group coming in in the next 10 mins, I asked if we could have a drink at the bar and wait for a table and was told no point your not going to get seated if you haven't booked. Went outside and booked a table In 30mins online, came back in, another girl was there she said that's fine, your booked table isn't ready but I can seat you somewhere else, she and the gym serving the carvery were lovely but most of the staff are rude with a don't care attitude.
