My husband and I stayed for 2 nights over the weekend and we can’t rate it highly enough. The food both breakfast and dinner was exceptional. All freshly cooked quality ingredients and you really can taste the difference. I have never tasted chicken so food is also plentiful and well priced and you won’t find better. The staff were all excellent with Pip in particular belying her age managing a difficult situation that arose with great maturity. The atmosphere of the place is so warm and welcoming and we had a wonderful stay. The locals were just as friendly and welcoming ( particularly Di ) A huge thank you to all the staff who made our mini break so special

Outstanding! We visited the Crossroads Inn based on previous reviews and we are so pleased we did. We stayed four nights in their accommodation and each meal, both breakfast and dinner, was excellent. Very friendly staff, an interesting menu with some original twists and a great pub atmosphere; a real joy. The food here is a delight, always arrived hot and truly delicious. The portions are generous making the Crossroads good value for money. Good beers too. We would highly recommend the Crossroads if you’re in the area, well worth a visit, makes an ideal base to tour the local sights. No hesitation in awarding 5 stars.

We stayed here with our large dog Ibrox for a couple of nights for my birthday. It had great reviews but beyond that we had no idea what to expect. From the start of our stay until we checked out we had nothing but excellent service Staff without exception were fantastic. The pub had a mixture of locals and guests like us and we were made to feel so welcome by everyone. Our room was great, our dog happy and settled Food was the best we have had in a pub, so tasty and clearly well sourced produce. Breakfast was fantastic Location stunning. We will be back. Thank you to all.

Having heard of the very good reputation and read the many positive reviews of this establishment, I was looking forward to my first visit and an early bird dinner. I ordered the traditional Cumberland sausage and mash which was taken by a courteous, efficient and friendly young waitress/bar tender who, it later transpired, had been left to 'run' the show alone! When the meal arrived I was very disappointed to find that the sausages were pale and grey with little or no colouring, suggesting they were very undercooked. This was off-putting and I was unable to eat them, apart from the 'end bits' which looked as if they had actually seen a little heat. The mashed potato and onion gravy were excellent in every way, but with the sausages being so poorly cooked, it turned out to be a very expensive visit, and one not to be repeated. I realise that others might suggest that I should have raised the issue there and then with the waitress, but as mentioned previously she had been left to manage on her own and I had no intention of making her situation even more difficult. Poor show, Crossroads Inn.

Me and my two children came here Sunday, it wasn’t our first time but the food is just unbelievably good. I’m very picky and pedantic when it comes to food, but the Sunday Roasts from this place are best I’ve had in Halifax to date. The staff are attentive and one particular young lady with blondish hair and glasses is very warming, and friendly! Both my children are autistic and they are always at ease here. The cauliflower cheese is to die for and arguably the best I’ve had!

The vegan curry I had for lunch today was delicious. It was nicely spiced but not too hot, with a mix of vegetables including thin French beans, mushrooms and peppers. It came with 2 segments of naan bread and rice (mainly white plus some wild). The waiter was pleasant and helpful. I have enjoyed meals at Crossroads for many years: most recently, before today, veggie sausage and mash, and fish (fresh and nicely cooked), chips and mushy peas.

Gorgeous food. We went for Sunday dinner and I had the roast beef. I ordered an extra side of cauliflower cheese as it’s my fave and I knew it was good from here. I wasn’t disappointed. I had to be rolled out of the pub I was that full. I didn’t have a starter, others did and I don’t know how they eat both as they are good sizes. It’s a lovely pub with great food.

This is a nice pub restaurant, with nice food and helpful friendly staff. I do not eat meat and I mostly avoid dairy food. (This is for animal cruelty and health reasons: I am medically qualified). I used to enjoy Crossroads' large Yorkshire puddings filled with veggie sausages and gravy and onions. Also their spinach and mushroom pie. Sadly these are no longer on the menu, and I struggle to know what to choose. My latest choice was a fish sandwich, which was just ok. (I'm not sure about English curries, when these are so good in Indian restaurants). Maybe best will be their veg tempura with added fries?

We were here on a Saturday early evening, adults and children in the party. The whole idea for us was an easy and tasty meal, but what we got was a lovely meal, impecable service and a whole experience. The food... oh the food... I might have to go back for more... I digress, the food was perfect. They were out of a few items on the list of starters this Saturday, but in all honesty, it did not do any bad, as they have a good list, and we saw multiple starters on the table, and they all were highly praised. We also saw multiple mains hit the table, and be devoured! Yes, devoured, the food was so good, not one sought to leave any remains of it on their plates! The desert was perfectly sized to not be overwhelming nor leave a feeling of wanting more.. All throughout this, the staff were impecable, asking questions and generally being available, without you feeling they were around you constantly.

Arrived not really knowing what to expect but chose this inn for its location as we planned visits to friends and family nearby. What a great decision it was to stay here. We were immediately welcomed by friendly staff. The inn serves excellent beer (Timothy Taylor’s) which was our first pleasant discovery. The first night we also discovered what excellent food was served - with imaginative touches to traditional dishes from the chef. Breakfast was equally great - with very generous proportions. The inn was kept very busy with diners at lunchtime and in the evenings (certainly at the weekend) and the six available guest rooms seemed fully occupied. We were glad we booked some time in advance for the four nights we stayed. So booking is recommended for diners, and early booking for overnight guests - its certainly worth it. All the staff were incredibly helpful and friendly, no matter how busy they were. All brilliant at multi-tasking! The food on our other evenings did not disappoint, and breakfast was consistently good. The only slight drawback was an intermittent wifi but this certainly would not deter us from a repeat visit. As an added bonus we were able to top up charge our EV using a standard domestic socket outside the garage (where there was ample parking). Very slow charge but a boon before we set off again on a long trip when we left. (So if you drive an EV do pack an domestic supply - three pin plug - converter.) Thank you to Jayne and all the staff for making our stay so great!

Situated in the hills above Halifax, (1,000 feet above sea-level) the pub is in a great spot with tremendous views across the valley. Most importantly, the in was warm in the evening & warm in the morning. Tremendous menu for breakfast. I chose a full-English , whilst my wife enjoyed kippers. Great value at £8.95 each. When we arrived at the Crossroads Inn after a busy few days and a long drive in horrid conditions I’ll admit to a sense of foreboding, it is, after all, positioned at the top of a bleak and blustery hill. I need not have worried. Oscar welcomed us warmly and took us to our cosy room. Don’t expect space but do expect all you need for a lovely nights stay, the bed was the best we’ve slept in away from home for many a year. We had booked to dine in the pub and, wow, what a wonderful surprise. A great atmosphere, helpful and friendly staff, a diverse menu, even I was spoilt for choice - rare for a near vegan fusspot. Breakfast too was home cooked and wonderful. Oh and as for that bleak and blustery hill… in the morning, when the storm had blown over, the views were to die for.

Really comfortable room with all the amenities and a wonderful breakfast on Jan 1st. I wanted to book for next year. Anyway we have just had Sunday roast there and my tastebuds have died and gone to heaven. Quite simply it was probably the best Sunday roast I have ever had. Myself and my son came here from Oldham after seeing the reviews. We weren't disappointed. I had the haddock in a basket lunch and it was cooked perfectly. Also, the portion size was good, it would have been enough for dinner. I also had a side of halloumi fries which wasn't on the menu but offered to me when I inquired. My son had the chicken and jalapeno burger and he enjoyed it and said the chicken was of good standard. The chips were fantastic, proper chips! Only let down was my son's onion rings as they were undercooked. The desserts were also good. I had cheesecake and my son had brownie. I must admit I've had more luxurious desserts in other places though, but it was still acceptable. Service was brilliant as well and the toilets were cleaned to a high standard as was the seating areas. I would go back here to try another dish, I reckon they do some interesting ones by looking at their Facebook page.

We stayed at the Crossroads Inn from the 17th-20th of November, everything about the place is professional, from the booking by phone to the greeting and service whilst staying. The pub is run by a wonderful couple with a great background in catering and hospitality. Both are chefs so you can be sure that the food is always first class. There are only 6 rooms, each of them is clean ,well appointed with shower or shower and bath. We stayed in room 6 which had great views of the moors. It was great to wake in the morning to the quiet and wildness of the hills. The rooms are provided with the usual toiletries, tea/coffee etc. and still and spring water each day. We also enjoyed the mini choc bars. We had several meals at the pub, many from the wonderful specials board - each was fantastic. The breakfasts were wonderful and immense, cooked to order after a buffet range of juices and cereals etc. The thing that makes this place stand out is the friendliness of the locals and the attentiveness of the servers at the bar and at mealtimes - nothing was too much trouble for them. The owners have a wonderful quality of making you feel that anything you need is OK.The food and drink was automatically added to our bill with no need to provide signatures so that the ordering was seamless and efficient which helped the mood of the evening to flow . The owners although busy had time to talk and provide information-they were friendly and really welcoming. We will be returning to carry on drinking the great range of beers and well priced wines and hopefully have more of the great food. (There are also some great walks on the doorstep).

Called in yesterday to this lovely pub for lunch. This must be about the fifth time we have visited it and the food has been consistently good on every occasion. There is a fairly wide menu, mostly comprising pub food favourites - a roast of the day, Cumberland sausage and mash, fish and chips, scampi, roast chicken etc. etc. The quality of the food and the cooking are excellent, the prices are sensible and the service is polite and unobtrusively attentive. The pub restaurant is beautifully decorated and the views from its windows across the lovely Calderdale landscape are an added bonus.

Most definitely a pub doing food as opposed to a restaurant with a pub attached. There is a sizeable menu covering several cuisines. However, I elected to have the pate and the cod, both good. Service was attentive.

We were so pleased with the lunch a couple of Thursday ago that we went again the following week. A really good choice on the menu and the specials board, and the food was well cooked. I had my disabled dad with me and the facilities are excellent from parking right outside the main entrance, and well positioned and spacious loo, no steps. Very friendly staff and fantastic views. I couldn't ask for any more.

First thumbs up for encouraging people to bring there dogs out for an evening meal, booked a table so as we weren't in the centre of the dining room. Excellent choice, includes good selection for vegetarians. Good sized portions therefore went for mains, scampi, fish, burger & veg cottage pie, the Taylor's fish was the best fish I have had, extra crispy & cooked to perfection. Everyone enjoyed the meal including Rosie who received a dish of treats, service was good from our young waitress & good atmosphere with a busy bar & a few diners. Highly recommended & very near to Calderdale way, Ogden reservoir & many other countryside walks so why not call in on your next walk & try it.

We went here for a few beers before our evening meal at home. We had the Timothy Taylor's Knowle Spring which was ok although not as good as the same beer the day before in the Yorkshire Dales- it seemed more like a restaurant than a traditional pub- the bar area is rather confined and most of the space given over to dining. The Menu looked reasonable although we did not eat there.

Stayed here a couple of times visiting Yorkshire relatives and whilst very convenient for our particular purpose we may well try some other similar places on future trips. That said the pub does serve generally excellent food and has a great selection of beers. The room was nice enough and very quiet but the bed is no way a double and the shower didn't work. Top tip. If you have guests booked in December it might be nice to Tauren the heating on before they arrive. Good luck with obvious potential but we will just enjoy the dining in future.

We had a lovely evening at the Crossroads Inn! Food was yummy, and we were pleasantly surprised to find battered cod (as opposed to fish fingers) on the kids menu, which our 6 year old loved! Most dishes come in 2 sizes with a lighter/smaller portion option that is just right for enjoying your meal and not feeling stuffed when you stand up. The atmosphere was warm and friendly, with colour-in pictures and pencils provided to keep the little one occupied. Very helpful and attentive staff made this evening particularly special.

Excellent, wholesome pub grub served in a friendly, country setting. There is a set menu with options for smaller appetites and a good value early bird option. A specials board is also available offering choices every day. Can readily recommend the roast dinner option! This is very popular venue so booking is advised especially weekends.

I don't know who got the warmest welcome us or my dog Daisy! We popped in just to see what it was like as staying in the area on holiday. Wanted to see what food was on offer and if the dog could come too. Daisy was very satisfied with her plate of dog biscuits and bowl of fresh water. The kids were happy playing Jenga and chess and didn't want to leave. As we had only popped in we didn't eat but the menu looked gorgeous and the food smelt delicious. Will update if we do eat there.

Me and my partner went for a meal whilst we were in the area. My partner ordered a vegetarian meal and even specified when ordering that it must be vegetarian. When the meal arrived she noticed after a few bites that there were meat in the meal. We went to the bar to complain guy serving said "oh sorry about that" then carried on pouring drinks. They didn't even offer a refund for the plate. We both just looked at each other in disbelief. Turned around and left. Won't return again.

A lovely traditional pub steeped in local history that for the last few years has suffered from a revolving door of short lived landlords without a clue. What a refreshing change then to see that the Hinch' has finally got new landlords (Oct2024) who clearly know how to run a pub. Within a short period of time they have successfully managed to breathe new life into what had become a tired and soulless place to eat and drink. On the two occasions we've been since the Hinch reopened we've been super impressed with the food. In fact the cheese and onion pie might well be the best pie l've tasted in the Calder Valley (or ever!) and the flavourful and plentiful Sunday Roast offering was a cut above your usual pub ‘roast’ offering. I wouldn’t hesitate to recommend the food if you’re looking for somewhere to eat - especially when it comes without the hassle of parking in Hebden Bridge. On each occasion we’ve been, the Hinch was busy with drinkers and diners which is great to see. The trade off is you've only got the choice of Manchester owners JW Lees’ own branded mystery beer offerings. Forget the craft-ale revolution, or the fact that Vocation brewery is literally 5 mins away, the solitary guest beer offering here is San Miguel. I guess you can't have everything, but at least the food and atmosphere more than makes up for it!

My mum had her 70th Birthday party here. Absolutely spot on! We had all the left hand side of the pub allocated to us which was ample room for our party. Staff were great, buffet party food was excellent and plenty of it. We all had a lovely time. Big thank you to all the staff x
