The most recent - and positive – Cricketers reviews attracted us to the pub. Many reflect the arrival of a new team at the helm, we discovered during a stay. From around the beginning of the year Andrew and his colleagues have got the pub firing on all cylinders with personal service, great facilities and sheer dedication. It already has everything you'd want from accommodation – quiet rooms; comfortable mattresses; en-suites; a great location (surrounded by riverside walks and a 1 hour stroll into Winchester); and is dog-friendly throughout. The pub, with Andrew and team behind the bar, is welcoming and full of character (and characters), with the most subtle background music – no grating in-your-face musak here. Just a great place for meeting up and a chat. Would highly recommend.

We visited on Good Friday evening- a party of 4 and 3 doggies 🐾🐾 The pub has a lovely atmosphere. The new owners are doing a fantastic job. The pub was busy and we were advised there would be a wait for food, we were on holiday so drinks and natter time was perfect. The food was amazing, well priced, tasty and generous portions. Good selection of ales and drinks on offer. We visited from the nearby Horn Hill caravan site. Would recommend highly. Thanks for a super evening. All the best in growing your already super business👌

A large group of us - thirteen all together and two dogs descended upon the pub without much notice for Sunday dinner on the 18th Feb - we were aware that it had changed management very recently and were very impressed ! The Landlord was very friendly and helpful explaining that the food would not arrive all together as his wife was working all alone in the kitchen - we weren't the least bit bothered by this and I must say it was worth the wait - my hunters chicken was delicious and the all day breakfast looked good too ! Massive portions of kids spag bol also went down well ! Everyone had a thoroughly enjoyable visit. Would recommend and look forward to returning later on in the year to see how they've settled in and wish Andrew and co every success !

Popped in for some dinner with a friend and my 6 year old. Christine served us and was so attentive and helpful (and great with the kids too!). My son has allergies and they were prepared with the allergen menu and everything was double checked, which was really appreciated after some mistakes at other restaurants we’ve visited recently. Facilities were great with a play area to keep my energetic boy busy while waiting for his food. We had the chicken salad, ploughman’s, fish and chips and sides which were all great, but the desserts were what made it for me! The salted caramel mousse was incredible, my friend had a delicious crumble and they even had a dairy and soya free option for my son! We will be returning for sure.

As a woman walking and in my own I felt his cold behaviour intimidating, then he followed me to the entrance and pointed out to the people in the garden that I had been rude to him and carried on talking about me, I defended myself then walking on felt overwhelmed

In the middle of Sunday lunch. The roast beef reminds me of school food from 80s. Thin cut, over cooked, dry. Reheated potatoes. Under cooked carrots. Masses of vegetables to compensate for poor meat I suppose. The chicken roast helpings were huge but again dry and over cooked the only thing available for children was smaller portions. The waitress said they can’t halve a roast chicken portion for some reason so we did it ourselves. She also said the the beef would be medium rare. Never again!

For The starter my friend and I had was tiny mushrooms in a delicious sauce. . We all had roast dinner...three beef and one pork. The meat was generous and lean......I did request beef pink and I would have liked it rarer but that's my only complaint. The plates were hot( always a good sign) and the vegetables of parsnips, potatoes, cabbage and carrots were very good and again generous. We couldn't manage sweet! This is an archetypal English pub in a quaint English village that also does a few rooms... I stayed in the single room, which was surprisingly large enough with modern oak furniture, tiny little TV and old-fashioned en-suite with electric shower. The shower room was a bit disappointingly old and a bit tatty, but everything worked although the shower was not the best. However, breakfast to order in the morning with excellent coffee and a smart little dog called Alfie was a very pleasant. I didnt eat in the pub in the evening as I was going out for a meal, but the food looked good and the whole stay was excellent value for money - so I didnt mind the old en-suite too much.

The Cricketers has been our first choice for a Sunday Roast on several occasions lately. We have been a little disappointed but have always blamed ourselves for going in too near the end of service. Today we visited at 1oclockish and thought we would enjoy a lovely traditional roast. The place is always quite busy so must be pretty good. No. It doesn't seem to matter what time you eat the food just doesn't live up to expectations. What a disappointment it was again. Definitely the last Sunday Roast that we will be wasting money on here. Beef as tough as old boots, greasy old luke warm potatoes and a very unappetizing vegetable concoction, insipid cabbage and watery gravy. Carrots were ok. Had we been asked if we enjoyed the meal we would have given good constructive feedback, but no, our plates were whisked away without any enquiry as to our satisfaction. What a shame. A delightful traditional British Pub but a really poor traditional English roast. Other selections from the menu may well be lovely but the roast....avoid.

We had their 2 courses for £10 menu. I cannot remember having better value for money anywhere recently. This is an old fashioned country pub with an excellent range of beers. They clearly prefers to spend its resources on providing good value meals rather than spoil its atmosphere by introducing fancy decor. The menu is rather more imaginative than the standard pub food. You can have a steak or a burger if you want but there are other much more imaginative choices. My starter was fried brie with cranberries and my wife had olives with pitta bread and humus.

We chose this restaurant primarily as we were visiting the area and looking for somewhere for Sunday lunch for 6 of us and our 3 dogs. The Cricketers found us a table (slightly away from others which was nice as we had the dogs), and were friendly and welcoming from the start. There was a good selection of drinks which arrived promptly and we were very impressed with the menu! The prices are reasonable and the food absolutely delicious, however they have truly earned 5 stars because of how welcomed we were made to feel with our dogs - which can be a rare occurrence. The dogs were given dog treats on arrival and even for our fussiest dog - a slice of bread and butter was made for him when we requested it without any fuss.A truly fantastic find in a village location and will definitely re-visit again if in the area.

Having booked a table days in advance to have Sunday lunch at the well reviewed Golden Lion at 12-30 and turned up exactly on time, we were amazed to be told at 1-45 that we did not have time to have dessert or coffee as our table had been rebooked (without any prior warning) for a second sitting! As we had driven up from Brighton to meet up with some friends from Bristol (which was pointed out when I made the booking) an hour didn't seem enough so off we plunged into the countryside to find an alternative venue. We happened upon the Cricketers and in we trooped. Very dog friendly, a delicious looking all day menu which tempted me into having an apple and sultana crumble with custard as a delayed prize, small but interesting wine list, good range of ales and lagers plus some unusual bottled lagers, open fire, plenty of parking, outside smoking area and Sky TV so that we could watch Lewis Hamilton winning the F1 championship with lots of jingoistic banter with the staff and other people at the bar....It saved what could have been a disastrous day and I wish that we had gone there to meet up and have lunch in the first place....

My family of 13 and I enjoyed a really enjoyable lunctime at The Cricketers Inn, Easton. Very welcoming atmosphere. The Manager, 'Ben' was professional but very friendly. Service was excellent and all of our meals were delicious, served on very warm plates. We definately recommend The Cricketers and are already planning to go again. 5 stars!

This delightful village pub, in the centre of a very vibrant community, has gone through a bad patch for several years. Now, the Marstons tenancy has been taken by a experienced and professional couple who are doing all the right things. The locals are responding so it has that wonderful feel and atmosphere, unique to a good British village pub.The exterior has been painted and with flowers in tubs etc, the interior refurbished with tasteful cricketing memorabillia, a roaring fire welcomes you and the whole place sparkles. They have retained the pub games and Sky TV but they are at one end and not obtrusive. Beer is Marstons, with Ringwood as a guest and the wine list has about 16 wines, ALL priced at £13.95, with glasses pro rata - how sensible. The menu (cooked by the chef/patron) has a specials board and an an la carte choice of excellent pub food at reasonable prices. It is the kind of menu where you don't know which to choose because it is all so appetising! Really good service by mainly local girls who seem to go out of their way to satisfy. Easton is very lucky to have The Cricketers and The Chestnut Horse - the pubs complement each other beautifully; long may it last. There are three recently refurbished bedrooms.

We came on 14/10/24 for a family wake. Mandy and Simon did an amazing job of making the room welcoming and accommodating us with all our wishes. The service and food were of excellent quality with a very fair price and there was plenty for all. It was so nice that even the cakes were iced in the favourite colours of our late family member, not requested but we felt was such a lovely added touch. Thank you Mandy and Simon, we would definitely recommend you.

3 of us had lunch here. We all chose something different and each dish was great. Everything was lovely and fresh. The soup was homemade with a generous portion of bread. The sandwich from the specials was accompanied by two types of salad as was the sausage roll. The service was efficient and friendly too. I highly recommend.

Found the cafe purely by accident, on the High Street, stopping in Loddon for something to do on a rather autumnal day. You will find it near to the take away and funeral services, but don't let that deter you...So glad we popped in! Wide choice of cakes and some savouries, including vegan and/or gluten free. Huge pot of tea! Pretty tea room, very well equipped single toilet. Family affair, mother and two daughters bake everything on site. Long chat with lovely Lisa, so enthusiastic about their business. We only tasted a quiche and blackberry cake, but goodness, so delicious, and if a hint of other produce from their fine hands, well worth a further visit or cake order. Apparently mum Julie runs craft classes upstairs too.. talented family. We wish you continued success and will hopefully see you next holiday.
