Cousin Jacks in Cornwall, Isles of Scilly

Delicious. Definitely can recommend. Service was a bit slow as one of fryers was down, but a general Dunkirk spirit preavailed and all customers were patient - one fella paying for another customer’s chips as he had no card! Portion size was amazing.

Absolutely terrible. Fish is tiny. Regular fish (2 sizes available) to the small I purchased for my wife, there appears to be no difference. Chips were cold. Fish cold. Had to ask for a bag for a £40 order, several items that clearly could not be carried by 1 person. Eaten here several time and today will be the last. Extremely disappointing to say the least.

Have to say our Battered Sausages , Fish cake curry sauces and chips were the best - I dont say that lightly either best we have ever had - the chips were proper and all tasted anazing wish we lived nearer !

I had throw most of the chips away as they were mostly crispy bits and very oily £4 for large chips terrible chips would not go back again very poor quality chips sorry to say just being honest

Chips were great as always. However they severely burnt the fish cake and can’t have not noticed when they put it upside down in the box. I mean it wasn’t a little burnt it was cremated. Shame cause normally great and my favourite chippy. I hope it was a one off.

What a hidden gem, this little gem was awarded top 10 fish & chips in Cornwall. Well seeing is believing......the award was NOT wrong...... IT'was Delicious. I have tried 6 of the top 10 in the best Fish & chips list and believe this should be No 1 ! The best crunchy well fried chips served anywhere in Cornwall. Now for the main dish .....Fish - largest best crispy battered fish I have ever had ..... believe me I've had many. Handsum ! Mushy peas to die for.... If you haven't tried "Cousin Jacks" then I suggest you do . you will not be disappointed ! Excellent prices , warm and friendly service, I placed on order on FB and it was waiting for me when I got there.

Fantastic fish n chips we had the small portions which were more than generous. The batter on the fish was light & crispy the fish was moist and well cooked. The chips were crispy & fluffy on the inside. Well done we will be back Thank you very much.

Great tasting and fresh fish, chips and sausages. For our family of four (two boys, aged 13 & 11) we had two large chips, plus fish and sausages. Big portions of chips - we easily had enough to go round and had a fair few left over. I got there about 6.15, with about 10 people in the queue. It soon went down, as they had a few people turning over the orders. We are on holiday, staying in Portreath. It was only 5 minutes drive away. Parking was fine, as there were spaces on the road outside, with cars coming and going as people picked up their food.

Was on holiday in Cornwall and got a takeaway from here as they had good reviews. They were not wrong! Great fish and chips, great value and also decent sized portions!!

Genuinely top notch fish and chips. Lovely fresh fish with a light batter and sooo many chips! Staff were really helpful and even though there was quite a long queue they worked hard to get everybody served quickly.

We found Cousin Jacks by accident when visiting Cornwall a few years ago. It was so good, we've made it a tradition to visit when we arrive. The food is fresh cooked and tastes fantastic. The portions are very filling. Definitely worth a visit.

I have never had fish and chips like it. What an ingenious idea to put the stag ends of batter and mix it in with freshly cooked chips. The fish was delicious also. Thoroughly recommended

Picked up fish and chips whilst on holiday in the area. A great find - the best we've had for a long time. The cod was very tasty and the batter was nice and crisp but not greasy. The chips were just as good as the fish - soft on the inside and nice and brown on the outside. As others have said - big portions as well. Highly recommended.

Normally our Friday night treat. We’ve tried the others in town and out of town and they are not a patch on these. The staff are efficient and friendly. Highly recommended!

We are currently on holiday in Cornwall and we’re looking for lunch and fancied fish and chips. Up came Cousin Jacks as being “open” on a Monday. Drove the 8 miles to only find they were shut. Update your Google page and DON’T waste people’s time and money. Really annoyed !

After Morrish’s and Saunders, Cousin Jacks is the third best chip shop around. I was served very fast and friendly, and out the door within minutes... Fabulous cod, chips, sausages etc. All went down very well with bread and butter. Highly recommend here for a well priced and great food.

Big portions, not too greasy, friendly staff... cant go wrong with it! We shared 2 cod and a large chips which was more than enough. They dont take cards but I had cash so not an issue. They also had little ketchup and mayo portions which was useful as the house we were at didn't have anything in. If we're in this part of the country again, we'd go back!

5* delicious crispy batter, succulent fish, beautiful chips, awesome mushy peas. Friendly staff too... It doesn’t get much better than this, get yourself down here, you won’t be disappointed

Popped in on Saturday 27th April 2019 after Id been to Illogan RBL FC for the 2 footie matches there. The wife and myself both had Cod chips and curry, whilst my lad had sausage chips and peas. The meal was superb and the staff very friendly

Regularly pick up food for the family a few times a month. Hot tasty food and lovely staff! Never had a bad experience.

Long ques but quick to serve, friendly staff, everything is very had and fresh. the fish is cooked well and crispy with crunchy batter. the chips are cooked to golden brown and again has a crunch when you bite into them. I also ordered some screads/ batter bits which were free. the mushy peas were a good sized portion and very hot. I've not tried the burger or the pies but have heard they are great. |I will be visiting again very soon. this is a take away not a sit down restaurant

Very basic but clean atmosphere. Received friendly service. A bit slow, but we ordered cod, which took longer because it was freshly made and not sitting around under a heat lamp. Batter was crispy and delicious. Chips perfect! (Large chips adequate for a family of four). Mushy peas good also. Was well worth the wait!

Another return visit ordering a very large order for work, everyone thoroughly enjoyed their meals. Excellent value for money and very friendly staff. See you again soon!

Although I have heard for many years this is the best fish and chip shop around I was disappointed that the chips tasted as if they had been re-heated. The veggie burger however, was huge and delicious.

Best Fish and Chips in West Cornwall, Good size potions, difficult to find, but having Tesco helps as a guide at the roundabout where you turn to get to Pengegan, it is out of the way but worth finding!

Lovely fresh and hot food . Chips were amazing old fashioned chips . Down side was that you can’t pay by card which is a shame nowadays but will be prepared next time

Fabulous food ...always piping hot and tasty. Fish cooked to perfection crispy batter. I had the chicken was lovely ...Perfect crispy skin and moist chicken. Chips were lovely ...nearly always a queue but they’re wort waiting for.

Used to get this every fortnight with family however on a bit of a diet now! This is consistently the best fish and chips in Cornwall week in week out. Huge portion sizes, friendly service and great taste!

I placed a large order for a local care home on Friday the 17th of August, ready for the time I had asked for. The portion sizes are very generous, the service was wonderful and the staff were very friendly. You made a lot of our residents very happy thank you, we will be back very soon!

We recently went here for tea, the queue out of the door speaks for itself! Never been disappointed with anything from here; the only time I was disappointed was when we miss timed it and it was closed! lol

Cousin jacks been our local for can't count how many years but tonight they showed their colours. Call ed in for the usual fish an chips waited in the queue for 10 minutes then served someone else disgusted with this and the staff attitude now I will travel 5 miles rather than support the local business

Excellent fish and chips. We came apon Cousin Jacks by chance after the Atlantic was closed in Portreath. Cousin Jacks offered good sized portions, lovely fish in crispy batter, perfect chips and all at a reasonable price. Definitely will go back!

Called in and collected fish and chips for tea. Pleasant and very friendly staff good variety of the menu and drinks. Well cooked and seisoned. Well priced and plenty of chips. A place not to be missed.

Since moving from Kent 5 years ago, I've been dispointed with most take aways I have had in surrounding area. This fish and chip is lovely. Staff are friendly and I like that it's cooked fresh to order when in the q.

Such good value for money here. The food is so tasty and you cannot complain about the portion sizes. I struggle to finish a small. That's the way it should be! :-)

The chips were sublime, crispy on the outside and fluffy on the inside. Fish was nice and chunky, batter not soggy, service was quick and friendly, nice to have food in boxes rather than wrapped to keep it fresh. This is a small unassuming place where you can still buy panda pops and fry-it's - what is a fry it anyway?Try it, you will not be disappointed

Having been recommended the fish and chips here we were really looking forward to them especially as very hungry.Long queue,long wait.Ordered two lightly battered haddock and chips.The fish tasted fresh but their idea of lightly battered was very different to ours.The batter,although crispy on the outside was far too thick,and yellow and soggy inside I could not eat much of my fish as it put me off.The chips were exactly how I do not like them dark brown and soggy.Huge portion but all went in the bin.Shall not give them another try.

If you are looking for generous portions and tasty fish n' chips, Cousin Jacks is the place to go for sure! Never disappointed and the staff are always warm and friendly. A little hidden gem on the edge of a housing estate that is well worth seeking out. Simply drive towards Camborne Tesco and rather than turn into Tesco, drive further up the road past the row of houses, over the (train bridge) and towards the roundabout on the housing estate - Cousin Jacks is just up on the right hand side.

Huge portions, but huge prices to match. Maybe make the portions and the prices smaller? Seems silly to pay out all that extra money to throw half of the food in the bin.

My local chippy - unbelievable crispy chips perfect white flakey fish. Brilliant staff and if you're up for it a massive 12" sausage !!! Would recommend over and over again. Awesome !!!!

We had a large family gathering for a 50th birthday, we asked Cousin Jacks if we could make an order and collect at their peak opening time (on a Saturday evening)16 large fish and more chips than we could handle, food was lovely and cooked to perfection. went to cousin jacks illogan shop. lovely helpful staff, clean tidy shop and possibly best fish and chips in years. really crispy batter good portion size. defo recommend. slight queue tonight being saturday but staff dealt with efficiantly.

We went to the Illogan branch. Amazing chips, not had chips that good in a while. It is tucked away but very yummy and I would recommend to everyone. The veggie burger was wonderful too.

Great food always go here. I always pop to Portreath an on my way past Illogan I stop here for chips and eat then on the beach. They are a lot taster than the cafes at the beach x

Tucked away in a residential area, this place is well worth finding! Cornwall is packed with fish and chip shops, but this is by far the best fish and chips I've ever had.Well priced, BIG portions...The chips were perfectly crunchy yet soft on the inside, and the potatoes used were particularly tasty (not something you often think about!)Fish really freshAND friendly service...Brilliant!

Normally our favourite place for fish and chips, this time was ok but I normally pay just over £10 for fish and chips twice with curry sauce, this time I only had two fish, one chips and curry sauce and it was the same price, I thought it would have been cheaper but nope!Never mind, will be back.

I go to this chip shop often but on this visit I was less than impressed, the lady behind the counter had the most horrendous bitten nails i have ever seen I ordered a large chips 3 sausages and cod but when i got home I think she scrapped the bottom of the chip pan for the last few chips and I mean the last few there was hardly any chips in the box and the ones I did have were all crispy really disappointed, won't be going back

Same products as the Illogan branch so very good fish and chips indeed. There is more limited space front and back so this seems to affect the quality of service a tiny bit? Busy shop which is great as that keeps good recently cooked food turning over - in my view the key to success at both local branches. Highly recommended take away and I think the best Fish and Chips in Camborne: a very competative area.

Have been going for years and honest the best chips I've ever had. They are always large portions and they are so busy so always fresh hot to order.

This is our "go to" chippy for a quick and easy tea. Always freshly cooked and worth any wait you may have. All non-standard items are cooked to order so piping hot and not left standing so they go dry or greasy.There is a good choice on the menu and they do smaller portions for children and seniors. Staff are friendly and efficient, the only downside is the lack of dedicated parking. You have to park on the road nearby where you can find space.

Best chips around. Partner and kids very impressed also! :) and not to badly priced. Packed in a box (which I love not losing half your chips on soggy paper) keeping them really crunchy! Yum!

I don't know if it's down to some secret family recipe, but Cousin Jack's chips are sort of unique - both crunchy and fluffy, almost like roast potatoes.... And as other reviewers have said, portions are generous and our battered cod and mushy peas were really good too... Will be back!!

Been here many times and yet again a fantastic cod and chip supper, very generous sized portions freshly cooked and reasonably priced and they use real potatoes rather than those frozen chips most places serve around here, the girls serving are always pleased to help and always polite give it ago you wont be disappointed

Been here many times and have only really had a problem once or twice and that was in regards to bad fish and siggy chips but on a whole they are normally spot on the money and there's a queue out the door for a reason!I would highly reccomend Cousin Jacks !!

We went to the paynters lane shop. Found it to be expensive and we found the chips to be soggy with an unusual taste . Much prefer Roberts fish and chip shop further up the rd in Chariot Rd they are cheaper and taste better.

As this is our local fish and chips shop, we use this regularly and I can quite honestly say that the fish and chips are the best I've ever had. Good value for money with very large portions..visiting is a must.

Friendly staff and the chips are good most times, but we have had a few occasions were the chips were dry and over cooked,will try again though.
