Great food and very good value and the couple who run it are fantastic only downside is the moorings in horning I will be going back if I can moor in September 24 and so looking forward to it 5*

In a world of cafes offering ever-diminishing packaged food, and more ways of making coffee than seem possible, this place is a breath of fresh air. For those of us of a certain age hankering after the traditional, honest caff then this is the place to come. Proper egg, sausage and bacon breakfasts from the hot plate, or soft, iced cinnamon buns for those with lesser appetites, washed down with "normal" tea or coffee. There is limited seating inside so it is understandable that this should be kept for customers wanting a meal; that's just sound business. Otherwise take-away is available from a window to the side of the building, which is great if you are planning to hop on the Mississippi River Boat trip (also worthwhile). The couple who run the cafe are not rude; just direct and no-nonsense, and work very hard to get the food and drinks to you quickly. We reminisce about such places from our youth that are long gone. Well here is one that you can enjoy now.

Entered the empty cafe and ordered a drink for three of four of us plus a sausage butty. The chap (who needs to go on a customer service training course - horrible man) insisted my wife must also by a drink or leave the cafe! We should have all left. As soon as they served us they walked out the cafe so if we wanted anything else we were not getting it. The re heated sausage sarnie in horrible bred was a chore to eat rather than a treat as was the watered down hot chocolate drink. No washroom facilities, I thought that was not legal ! You have to walk down the village to find the public toilets - half hour wait due to a bus just arriving. If you want unfriendly service, with under standard drinks and food and are happy to cross your legs maybe it is for you but we would recommend trying the local pubs instead.

Most inhospitable host I’ve ever met! Four of us.. three of us wanted coffee and a sandwich and one wanted nothing! Said we all needed to have something or couldn’t stay! Don’t go! It’s also terrible coffee, cheap sausages and cheap furniture.

Love this place great service great prices , well done. Traditional cooked food that people want . Also ice creams to take away.

Called in whilst visiting Horning, nice and pleasant, had a breakfast which was good, the owner was nice and chatty and we both enjoyed our visit

Horrible experience - asked if we could sit inside for coffee but we’re told in no uncertain terms we couldn’t unless we ordered food too. Now we could understand that as space was limited they would rather we bought take-away drinks instead but it was the WAY they told us that was the problem here. Unnecessarily rude and unfriendly and we could even hear them complaining to other customers about us very loudly as we walked down the street. If they had explained it to us politely we wouldn’t be leaving this review. As first time visitors to Horning we were quite shocked. We soon found another coffee outlet across the road who were absolutely lovely and they mentioned that the couple who run this place are known to be rude.

I recently came back from a week driving around the broads with my 2 elderly disabled parents and finding good food and great service was very hard. On day 3 of our trip we found this great place and from that day onwards we drove 15miles to get breakfast everyday. The couple who run it are very friendly and there little nick-nack shop next door is a joy to walk around whilst they freshly cook everything to order. Breakfast roll everyday started me off great and it was also one of only 30 places we visited to eat while away that had proper Heinz and Hp sauces, Which makes a very big difference in my opinion. My only suggestion is put up the prices as your food and service is excellent and the same breakfast roll 2 miles away cost me £11.50 instead of £3.50 here and it was nowhere near as good as yours. Thanks for the great food and chats we had. I will definitely visit again.

Advertised Open for Breakfast - but no times quoted. Went back later and got takeaway - 2 coffees and breakfast bap. We may have been unlucky, but the guy serving was immune to all pleasantries. I did my best - the weather, the music being played; nothing. Sadly I feel he just does not like to be there doing that.

We visited here today after recently moving to horning on our boat we had a loverly experience I had a full English breakfast my partner had a bacon bap and it was lovely the owners was really nice and had a lovely chat with them about our boat and recently moving to horning. All in all we had a great breakfast and experience we will sure be makeing this our local cafe for a fantastic breakfast and cuppa with friendly owners

Rude horrid man tried to bully me about before I had a chance to actually get inside, telling me to sit outside even though it started to rain! When I told him to ‘poke it’ he came down a few notches but by this time I had made my mind up that I would quit whilst I was ahead. Lady apologised as I was leaving . Feel sorry for her if that is her old man.

We didn't eat anything from here, we didn't get the chance. I asked if they had anything gluten free and the man barked 'no' I thought to myself how rude, and we decided we wouldn't give them our business for anything else. I was reviewing another establishment and found the reviews for this cafe and immediately recognised the comments! lol If you have to have a gluten free diet, it's not a lifestyle choice, it's because of a potentially serious medical condition. But I assume whatever I had asked for, he would have been rude! Would never go back!

On the Norfolk broads with my girlfriend, saw this Cafe and thought we’d nip inside for a bite to eat. There’s somebody already sat inside so we head in. One foot in the door, the man working just abruptly says “takeaway is outside” and I reply “we’re looking to eat in if that’s okay”. The guy just goes “no it’s not ok” and then some other woman barges past my girlfriend and goes “takeaway is outside”. So I just loudly say “well, it looks like they don’t want our business let’s go somewhere else”. So I find the cafe name just to leave this review. I hope you two read this and learn to not be horrible to customers! Like where does that come from?! It’s mental. I really hope if you carry on, you no longer see any business at this cafe as it’s really not on!

Went twice. First time treated by the male owner like I was an idiot when I wanted to pay by card, despite it saying you could pay my card over £5. He then did the same to two lads as I waited for my order. Tbh, the sausage rolls weren’t bad and well priced. Took my wife back the second so she could see him in action, he didn’t disappoint! She bought some bird seed to which he suggested she buy the lot as there’s so many ducks out there. She asked him what time they shut as she was thinking of coming back later. He replied abruptly "In a minute if i have anything to do with it!" Never did find out what time they shut. Please visit if you get the chance it’s like a scene from a 70s sitcom.

Went to get ice creams after a day on the broads. Rude owner who didn’t really want to serve us, we seemed an annoyance to him. Swore as he needed to fill the ice cream machine up again. No manners from the owner Won’t go again

Myself & my wife visited this afternoon. The cleanliness level in the shop was absolutely disgusting, the place desperately needs a deep clean. However the main cause of my frustration today was the fact that we were caught in a torrential downpour today whilst leaving the shop across the road, we were cowering under the canopy of the shop when I looked across the road, seen the small cafe & thought why don’t we go get a hot drink & something to eat to get out of the rain. So I ran across the road to the cafe absolutely drenched, the proprietor was sitting reading a newspaper, I walked in and asked if they were dog friendly, he replied “we’re closed” and got up to come over & close the door. The door was wide open when I walked in and all the lights were on. When we passed around 20-30 mins later, the door was still wide open and the lights were still on. He could have just said, sorry mate we don’t allow dogs in the cafe, I was desperately trying to get my drenched family out of the rain, we were all dressed in t shirt & shorts as we didn’t foresee the absolute monsoon that happened. Thank you for your human kindness & hospitality sir.

Delicious breakfast and at a very very sensible price. Have been twice whilst away for a few days and even went out of our way the 2nd time. We also ordered sandwiches to go for our journey home which was on a paper plate which helped. Thank you both

This place is so good and cheap you simply should not miss it. The tea is proper Yorkshire tea at £1.20 a cup ... no catering tea bags here. The cakes are homemade and so are the pies. If you get a takeaway you can sit in the little park right next to it and enjoy your lunch/snacks. Sausage rolls are lovely and they are just one pound. The kiosk window is on the side of the cafe, so if the weather is cold you can sit inside. I highly recommend this place and we visit it often.

Rude and very abrupt staff or owners , avoid at all costs and why oh why are these people in the catering business is beyond me

We stopped here to buy lunch while out on a bike ride and genuinely wish we hadn't. The owners were so incredibly rude. Very little of the menu was actually available and yet if we asked a question as to what we could actually purchase...

We called in after returning our Norfolk Broads hire boat after a weeks lovely holiday on the water. Lovely friendly little cafe and they did us two delicious, beautifully cooked full english breakfasts whilst juggling numerous takeaway breakfast baguettes. A great find. We'll be back!

A day exploring the Broads saw us arrive in Horning mid afternoon. We just fancied an ice-cream. We had a pistachio & amaretto and a jersey vanilla whippy (with flake obviously). Both ice-creams were delicious, but I really could have eaten that vanilla whippy again...

Got a takeaway buttie from here 3 days running. Incredibly good sausage, bacon etc muffins and at a very good price.

We visited for lunch while in Horning. It was a convenient place to grab some food. The menu was inexpensive and the ice cream was lovely. Unfortunately the two members of staff (? Owners) were quite ill-mannered.

You cannot underestimate the rudeness of this man. No matter how smiley or polite you are he is just astounding and makes it abundantly clear how much you are putting him out by spending money in his shop or the cafe on the other side!...

Kids enjoyed the ice cream found the staff pretty rude to be very honest, so much so after we ordered the ice cream we decided to go somewhere else for the adults coffees and cakes.

Mi esposo dijo que su hamburguesa era excelente, pero aparte de eso, el pedido fue decepcionante. La patata asada de mi hija estaba cubierta de mayonesa, lo que odia y, hasta donde yo sé, no se anunciaba así. Esto acaba de ser desechado. Los sándwiches estaban bien, pero les faltaba presentación y sabor. El personal era muy brusco y no parecía valorar nuestra costumbre. Me gritaron cuando le pregunté si los sándwiches eran tostadas. No lo recomendaría y definitivamente no volveré a visitarlo.

I am a very polite lady who came in your cafe with a polite approach and I was spoken to very abrupt and very unfriendly so I don't think I deserved being spoken to like I did wen I came in your cafe. So I beg to differ. And I didn't end up spending money with you because of your attitude. I work in a very high standard restaurant as a manager and I always speak to customers in a professional friendly manor even tho I am under alot of pressure with how busy it is. In customer service careers you have to be able to take the pressure and still smile

Gorgeous lunch after our cruise on the broads. Busy cafe. We had steak and stilton pie and a cream scone, gorgeous with a Proper cup if tea. Very reasonable. Will be back again.

Era obvio que vendían helado y, por supuesto, lo sabíamos, pero cuántos sabores puedes vender al mismo tiempo. This has to be the rudest people I have met. The food is freshly cooked, just don’t expect service with a smile or a polite conversation!

We wanted to buy an ice-cream at 5.25pm today from their kiosk. A lady was just taking in an A-board so I asked were they still open. She said yes, for ice-cream. We looked at the long list of flavours and had quickly made up our minds when a surly voice said, 'What do you want. Be quick because I'm closing'. I replied, 'This lady said you were still open', to which said lady snapped,'I SAID we were open for ice-cream'. Did we buy? No. I had been told the guy at the kiosk was grumpy but this was downright rude. We vote with our feet, we will go elsewhere.

The older chap serving us at the ice cream window was so rude, I totted up the ice cream order and he asked for 30p more, not a problem, I didn't realise the flake was more but when I said so he was so rude and said, well, life's a b**ch. I was a bit taken a back, I didn't moan or anything, no need for such a response. The ice cream was very nice though! Just the server was a tad rude.

Having been badly let down at the Swan Inn, being able to get something reasonably quickly was just what we needed.

We were walking round Horning and came across Country Treats. It's is right next to the village green where there are plenty of benches to sit on. We had a sausage bap and a coffee each. The sausage baps were lovely and the coffee was really good. We used their takeaway service but you can sit inside if you prefer. The couple who ran the place were really friendly and helpful. We had to wait a little while for our food but that was fine. A bell was rang when the food was ready. We sat and watched all the boats go by on the river while we had our snack. A nice experience all round.

The most imaginative range of ice creams in Norfolk. The hot chocolate to go tastes of chocolate too. If you fancy a cooked breakfast in a baguette this is just the place

Excellent breakfast choices at great prices and quality also the owners are quirky but pleasant and it's situated right on a pretty spot on the broads it's only downside is its very small inside and it's not always possible to get a table but when it's nice outside they do a take out service and it's nice to sit on the Waterside so it's a win win it's our go to place when in the area

Boating in cold March we found we could moor on the common Staithe. This was just a stone throw from this establishment.

Visited this cafe the staff were so rude especially the man we was told you can't come in we have people already ordered .. the lady just seemed to hide at her grill never said a word...just as we drove passed 2 minutes later everyone left so hard luck they lost our money....never going to visit it again.

Just called in for a coffee and possibly a snack. Although we saw that they did serve other food as well, we decided not to eat here as it looked dirty and lots of flies about over uncovered cakes, etc.

Brilliant place. Lovely baguettes and really reasonable. All freshly made to order and well worth the usually short wait. Ice creams to die for and the owners are lovely, always busy, sometimes hassled but always friendly.

Felt hungry after our boat trip on the broads, Thursday 13th April 2017. Bought a pasty and a large sausage roll which we consumed sat on a nearby bench. The food was nicely warmed up and we were served by friendly staff. Afterwards we could not find a litter bin, so the proprietor collected our paper plates and bags for disposal. Food tasted just fine and was reasonably priced.

Lovely little cafe. Service either inside of from the window at the side. Great team work from the owners to serve everyone quickly and efficiently. I had a delicious slice of homemade coffee and walnut cake. They also sell whippy ice creams and a variety of farm ice creams. Green space next door with benches to sit on overlooking the water.

We are regular visitors here and love the home cooked food. The prices are cheaper than most places but don't let that put you off . Some people think cheaper is not good but far from true here. We have known the owners now for six years and are always made welcome.

I presume the man i am going to discuss is the owner. Rude arrogant and doesn't know how to treat his customers. I wouldn't eat here thank you.called in for some scones to get told arrogantly with no care "they are all gone" in a tone that was grumpy. My partner returned 2days later to see if it was an off day previously and asked if he had any scones (not that he would have bought any now cos of previous attitude ) the owner abruptly and with attitude replied "no" !!!!! No conversation no politeness no alternative recommended. You deserve for all customers to stay away resulting in closing your business down you don't deserve to do well treating your customers this way.this man does not deserve your money.ARRIGANT!!!!

We moored at Horning for a bit of lunch, and decided to have a picnic on the green. Country treats had everything we needed and we couldn't fault them. Sausage rolls and beef and stilton slices in the sunshine! Thank you very much. :)

Never eaten in but the side window serves the most lovely ice cream they also do 'Mr Whippy' which may suit the kids (and our dog) better. Can't be more helpful, open when others have closed well worth popping in for an ice cream or a cuppa or something more substantial

been to horning a few times but 1st visit to this establishment, whilst at the counter the owner recommended his clotted cream scones made by his good wife, and as his wife was present we thought we would be polite and accept his advice, and boy what a good move ,words cant describe them , take a trip.

We hired a boat for the week and every time we passed we just had to have an ice cream. If flavoured ice cream is your thing then this is the place. But my favourite is the large mr whippy with a flake. Will be returning in September.

Simple cafe.. Good sausages bacon etc. Friendly service. Great coffee . Papers to read while you are waiting. Good views of the river .

This is the first and last time we shall visit this cafe. The Male Owner? was rude and uncouth, and do not deserve customers. We were a party of 4, however 3 only wanted a drink. The owner said buy a drink or cannot sit in cafe!! Even though it was pouring with rain. We thought we would like to buy cakes also but decided against it in view of his attitude. There are others places nearby.

What a gem of a place. Lovely couple who run this no frills café, and work hard they do! Coffee is very good and served in mugs! Homemade scones and the homemade raspberry jam are heaven! Looks as if everything is cooked to order, breakfasts smelt good. Really sensible prices too. The place is small, but don't pass it by, well worth a visit.

We have visited this village green cafe on numerous occasions, with the owner on each occasion having poor customer service.There is no doubt the shop offers a great selection of ice creams to customers, however the rude, unfriendly and unhelpful service would personally deter me from returning!

We use this little gem of a cafe regularly when we can't be bothered to cook on the boat, good old fashioned service with a smile and a news paper is all ways waiting, great husband and wife team with good food

You walk past this little coffee shop and it will be a mistake. The breakfasts are such good value and freshly prepared to a high standard. We took home made cakes ans pastries away for lunch and the chocolate brownie is the best around. It may be small but it is a little gem.

Lovely pub in a superb location right on The Broads. We booked a meal for Saturday night and had a very good choice of courses. The food was well presented and very enjoyable

Had absolutely no joy in Horning today! After being ignored in the nearby deli, we entered this cafe. Initial impression was that it smelled of old chip oil so are expectations weren't high! Didn't get to try anything as we were informed that they were closing in 15 mins. This was in spite of the fact that the open signs were clearly displayed, why indicate that you're open when you have no intention of serving anyone? I started to feel that our faces didn't fit in the village, Don't think we'll be rushing back to Horning anytime soon .

Lovely charming little cafe in Main Street close to river. Very friendly staff and good service. Food was excellent and will definitely go again

We called in here for breakfast and were pleasantly surprised. My husband had a full English breakfast and said it was lovely. I had a cream tea (for breakfast, I know!) and it was the nicest cream tea I have ever had,and I've had a few! The jam was homemade strawberry with big whole strawberries and the scone, also homemade was first class. Topped off with proper clotted cream, just heaven. I would recommend to everyone.

We visited here for lunch one Saturday and decided on baguettes and bacon rolls. The café is really small and doesn't have many tables. I should imagine in Summer it would be nice to get a takeaway from here and eat it on the nearby benches in front of the river.The staff were friendly and made conversation. The place was very busy as quite a few other people turned up the same time as us.They seemed to be organised and cooked all the meals in the order they were placed.The prices were very reasonable and the food was tasty. My parents thought their hot chocolate was really nice.It is highly likely we shall revisit as my son has already decided he would like a cooked breakfast next time.We had a walk around Horning afterwards and thought it was a pretty little place.

have been to country treats over the years and have never found the owners very hospitable and always harrassed. The ice creams and tea/coffees are very reasonable but would only buy them as take aways.

My partner and I have just returned from a week in Horning, we have visited four times in the last two years.. We found Country Treats on our first visit and frequent it at least every other day of our holiday. I have an egg and bacon bap and my partner a bacon bap. Reasonably priced and such good value for money. The owner and his wife always make you feel welcome and everything in the restaurant is home made. We thoroughly recommend everyone to visit at least once.
