We came for our breakfast and as expected we both enjoyed it. Wetherspoons food is always good which is why we keep using them. We both had different breakfasts but both loved them as usual. It's a pleasure to have it made for you. Well done guys, we will be back I'm sure.

It is a lovely big historic building, till 1995 it was a NatWest for over 100 years, hence the name, and a pub before that, The Moreton Arms, owned by the Moreton family of nearby Little Moreton Hall, a historic Tudor Mansion. It has plenty of original features and a large, partially lawned beer garden. It could do with a bit of a repaint etc, but is generally in pretty good nick. The women's toilets even boast a turret! The usual Wetherspoons drinks and grub, but the prices do differ slightly wherever you go, and these were on the very cheap side, which is great. I thought the all day brunch and pint of Doombar was amazing value at less than £7. It was extremely filling, I couldn't eat it all, and it was cooked to perfection.

Went out side with my friend after a few drinks and saw one staff member constantly coming to a table that she was obviously friends with and continued to vape and sit and chat whilst we were still waiting of our drinks, we had been waiting for over twenty minutes until our drinks arrived and they were clearly short staffed so I personally found it very unprofessional of her to be sitting with a customer table and vaping whilst customers were waiting, other server was very friendly and apologetic however i never saw get a talking to from him wen I felt it needed to be stopped, drinks were brilliant as usual just service wasn’t up to standard

Had to send the soup back twice before I got a bowl of HOT soup! It was so cool you could stick your fingers in it, and just warm them up a bit! Poor attitude of serving staff, very, very defensive. Re-chauffer food should be thoroughly heated otherwise it's dangerous to serve! Maybe the chef should have come out! They were then very pushy for us to leave!

We took our children for breakfast they found somewhere to sit easily was busier than expected. We ordered at the bar with a polite member of staff we asked for alternative scrambled eggs instead of fried on two breakfast this was no problem at all. Breakfast arrived three out of six missing hashbrowns when asking the waitress they where very apologetic and went to get them straight away returned a few minutes later great service. Refillable drinks went down well Only criticism was the tables weren't cleared before we left.

Just had a breakfast there this morning. I will hold my hands up I'm very fussy when it comes to breakfast. It's just got to be so.and mostly wherever I go it usually let's me down. Either some stuff is half cooked or over cooked, because a breakfast is a meal with lots of different elements so getting it all to suit me is hard.BUT they absolutely smashed it out of the park here.best I've had in an awful long time.all cooked really well, not running in grease, and big portions, and great price.coudnt ask for any better. I could go yo some fancy place and get a bad meal, and yet cost less than 6 quid for large breakfast. Brilliant

Emma Firman 1 review just now NEW Where to start, 4 of the 7 meals ordered were either unavailable or wrong, panini ended up being barely defrosted soggy bread with a cold dry filling, no mushrooms for mushroom pizza..... no naans for the currys, katsu curry was pretty much inedible. To top it off i asked if we could bring a cake in for a birthday and we're told no. Asked to speak to the manager (who looked about 15) who said she was to busy to speak to me as she was busy doing rotas! One waitress spent all night speaking to her friends and and the poor lad behind the bar just looked constantly embarrassed 😳 absolute joke, won't be returning

I ordered Beef Madras with chips & mango chutney. My wife ordered chicken tika masala. The food arrived. Beef Madras nann, rice etc. I asked the lady to give me my ordered meal. she said I can get you some chips. No good to me as my plate was full of food i had not ordered. So I gave her the the meal & asked her to again give me my ordered meal. Madras & chips eventually arrived & the curry sauce was cold. I ate a little & left the rest. My wifes Tika was cold & looked runny. She also eat a little. The food at Spoons is not cheap anymore. We expected better. There were only 2 staff serving. When my wife ordered the lad serving was so busy, he was serving 3 people at the same time. I was polite & explained to the waitress it was not her fault.

I called in for a night cap, and had the same drink as I’d had in Stratford Upon Avon the night before, a large Kraken and Coke. Congleton charged £4.95, where as Stratford-upon-Avon charged £4.09. With no disrespect to Congleton, I feel Stratford-upon-Avon is more of a tourist trap, with a lot more going for it, so why was Congleton dearer!! The bar in general is clean, the staff pleasant, and the layout acceptable.

This was the only weatherspoons that I’ve been to, I love it, it’s a go to for me and my mates, the foods a bit meh, but it’s a weatherspoons, good prices for drinks, I’ve heard they barely make a profit, so I appreciate that, however the reason for the 3 stars is the system them have seems to be heavily unreliable, for example; I ordered 3 meals (for myself and my two mates), these all came with a drink, however I payed extra to make these drinks (soft drinks) pints. The drinks after about 35 mins never came, so I went to enquire… the bartender (who was lovely to be fair, all the staff seem to be pretty reasonable there) said that nothing had come through on their system, I showed them my bank account, with the money that had came out, which came to more than the three meals alone did, I also showed him the receipt I received by email as well as my order history on the app, and he still said that nothing had came through on their end, I get that it may not have come through on your end, however I’ve shown you evidence that u had payed for it. Nevertheless the fuss it would’ve caused to ask for a refund or whatnot wasnt worth the 3-4 ish pounds it would’ve been to order drinks again.

In an ideal world, this would be (and should be) by far the best boozer in town but, thanks to the ignorant and lackadaisical staff, it fails to deliver on almost all fronts. The cheapest beer and coffee in town are the only reasons why I go there. Some of the staff members treat you with what can only be called contempt, happily carrying out their menial duties away from the bar while thirsty and frustrated customers are left wondering if the brass is ever clean enough. It does not get much better upstairs. While Wetherspoon's toilets in other towns are generally of a decent standard, The Counting House makes an unpleasant exception. The management must have received a barrage of complaints from long suffering male customers who just cannot believe the sad state of the lavatories. Wash your hands thoroughly afterwards is my advice. I am not qualified to comment on the food as I very rarely eat there. I have been told it is ok. Despite its numerous faults,The Counting House has its moments and it can be a fun place to visit on certain weekend nights. My overall impression, however, is that of a missed opportunity. There are lot of wonky chairs around in desperate need of repair or replacement. Unfortunately, the same applies to the staff whose attitude stinks as much as the gentlemen's toilets.

However on this occasion we had some guests sitting by us who were all obviously under 18, very immature and throwing things over the booth at us and mocking us when we were having a private conversation. We reported this to the manager who gave them a warning but to little effect so things escalated more. This was at 9pm. Obviously the staff knew who these 'kids' were as one of the waitresses kept going over to the table and I could see her joking with them about the situation. I'm reporting this to head office so just be careful of where you sit and who's your neighbour. Not the most professional establishment

I have to say that I have held a rather unfair stereotypical view of Wetherspoon’s for some time now, and haven’t visited one for several years. However, I have to say I can only say good things about The Counting House. The service I find to be very quick and friendly, the manageress seems to have a very good grip on things generally and it is always clean everywhere. Needless to say the beer is cheap, and every cask ale I have tried has been as good a pint (if not better) than a lot of other pubs. I decided to try the food on one occasion, and although very simple, was absolutely excellent value, and again, the burger I had was as tasty as any other pub in the area for half the price (with an excellent pint thrown in!) Really pleasantly surprised and after not having visited for years it is now somewhere I can go for some decent eats and a guaranteed great pint for a very acceptable price. Highly recommended.

Called in here on a Saturday morning for a coffee and a sausage bap.All tables seemed to be occupied.I was annoyed to see many had empty cups and glasses yet sat nattering when they should be asked by staff to leave as tables are needed.I eventually found an unsuitable upright high table and was told by the person who served me there is over half an hours wait for food ! Not acceptable. Two kids from hell were being a nuisance near my table so i had my coffee and left.I will not use this place again.

Ordered chilli nachos. I really don't think the chef has a clue about what they are supposed to look like. 2 measly spoons of chilli, which consisted of beans in mince. No chilli flavour, no peppers etc. Masses upon masses of guacamole and salsa slopped on my tortillas, to fill the space up. And no cheese on top. It tasted absolutely disgusting.

Visited Congleton and had been waiting to try a Knickerbocker glory sundae from the Wetherspoon new menu since it came outIt was a sunny Autumn day so sat outside with a coffee and when it arrived it was so disappointing. It had some syrup at the bottom a small scoop of ice cream and topped with whipped cream but had gaps all the way through it and it had no taste or chunks of any fruit whatsoever. We also ordered an apple crumble on the deal they offered and that was just gritty as though the custard had not been mixed property. They were busy and these seemed to have been rushed and we didn't have time to wait for a replacement as there was quite a wait for them to arrive in the first place.Coffee was fine and the building is lovely and there is a car park at the back just a short walk away so a shame really.

This place is great for a cheap, tasty and filling meal, with a large varied menu. The drinks are extremely good value too. The staff are always friendly, and it is also perfect to visit here if you are a single female.

Called in to The Counting House for lunch whilst shopping in town. The Deli deals are excellent value for money. Chicken wrap, chips and a soft drink for £4.25 you can't go wrong!Service was fast and friendly. Just a shame some of the clientele Wetherspoons attracts lets them down.

The Sunday carvery is great deal for the price if you go other pubs you are paying a lot of money for less. Cheap for a family to go. And have money left be going every Sunday from now on

Mid week the Harrow had plenty of space to accommodate an impromptu family gathering. I know that at weekends it’s really advised to reserve a table. We’ve been coming to this pub pretty much all our lives, but was impressed by the upgrades and expansion. The menu was interesting and didn’t disappoint. The service from Shane was awesome. They have some great offers and discounts online so that diners of all budgets can enjoy it. Definitely putting this back on my “visits Home” itinerary.

Parked in what we thought was the free pub car park, received a parking fine for £100 one week later. We arrived when it was pitch black and due to COVID restrictions couldn't leave our table once we were seated. Hence, we didn't have a clue we had to pay to park. The staff didn't mention it to us at any point. Strange considering how many terrible reviews they're getting for the exact same reason? Why oh why.

Charles is amazing, such a gent. Gave great advice to us as we had no clue where to start with our planters. Also, helped take our purchases to the car. I can’t give enough praise for this place.

We had lunch here (not booked in advance) on my mother's 94th birthday. We are regular guests at the hotel and honestly we have tended to avoid the brasserie for dinner because the experience has been variable. However, our lunch with soup, paninis and a mushroom burger was very good indeed, with lovely fresh bread and warm ingredients. Service was friendly and efficient. I'd recommend trying it out for a midweek late lunch. Self-service breakfast here is good, provided you can avoid the busiest times.
