They really need to learn how to cook a savaloy. It was rock hard, dry and inedible. Chips were only partially cooked and battered sausage greasy. Very very disappointed, won't go again

I have visited fish and chip shops all over the country and found this to be the worse one. The batter so thick and greasy we couldn't eat (3 of us), when opened the batter there was hardly any fish, I mean zero and the chips were discusting. Got a couple of sausages that saved the day. A waste of £24. Never again.

Okay so its difficult when writing reviews on chip shops because they have to have a fast turn around on food however The chips were not soft they were lumpy mash basically could have been cooked a bit longer the over all review is low because it wasnt enjoyable I will review in a few months

AVOID at all costs literally! I paid £7 for kebab meat thinking this comes in a tray as there is another option on the board for kebab in a pitta. Got home to find kebab in a pitta with 5 bits of meat in! Called and was told no meat this is correct! Absolutely disgusting price for what we received!

Been in a number of times since New Year. Always a warm greeting, and the place is clean. So already a good start. Food is enjoyable, too. Parking outside and swift service.

The chips r decent and handy as only up the road and staff are always nice. Food is quite quick and sausages are also nice. .

Ordered cod & chips. Got home & started to eat the fish,batter was hard as nails I opened it up and there was hardly any fish in the batter and it was hard. I reckon he the owner who served me had refried it from the day before it was disgusting. I feel as if I have been conned . I should have took it to trading standards. Needles to say this is the final time this chap has any of my money. Wouldn't advise anyone to buy from here.

Horrible batter. The fish portions are large, but as soon as you cut in to the fish you can see why. The batter is extremely thick and rubbery. There's hardly any fish inside the chewy, orange batter. Not good at all, won't be going back.

Don't listen to the opening times, seem to make it up! Get down there and it's well shut up and leaving the place

Be careful when ordering cheesy chips. Not actual cheese. Strange cheese sauce. I rang up to complain and they said " yes it is cheese sauce it says it on the sign" . Chips seem nice under the sauce.

I will never go here again!! I'm Scottish and lived in Herefordshire for the last 18years. I often have to visit an ATM whilst working in Scotland which means you get Scottish Bank notes. The Atlantic which I have used many times before have just refused to accept my £20 Scottish note. It's legal tender and the owner gave me the excuse they can't tell if its forged. I have never been so insulted especially when I have been buying from them before. If I could post this with no stars I would. All I can say is they have lost at least 1 customer all for the wrong reasons. If you have any sympathy stop buying and go somewhere else. MR CHIPS in town don't treat customers like that, use them instead.

Great menu great food great staff

Food is good. Only reason I leave 3 is the Kebab. You get about half the amount than other chip shops give you.

Food never very hot, miserable staff who obviously would rather be somewhere else. Other local places are much better and have a better choice. Also closes early so if you go after 6.30 you are left with very little selection.

I agree with the other recent reviews, really small portions of chips, oily fish, poor value. They must be making a fortune. Won't be going back.

Rather overpriced for one of the most awful pieces of cod that I have had for a long time with cold dried up chips. My wife and young son took one or two bites from the fish and refused to eat any more. Unfortunately we were to far away to return to complain.

I understand prices have gone up everywhere but the portions sizes here have gone down massively aswell shocked to see how little chips you now get when paying extra for a "large" portion . Only ever tend to buy chips here as always have bones in the fish. Last time visiting here I'm affraid .

Tight with everything loads of salt and vinegar please. Didn’t happen come on how hard is salt and vinegar. A drizzle of sauce on kebab. Lovely food just to tight can improve

Costas has always been on my top list, im very fussy but will eat from here. Always fresh and cooked nicely.

We were here 3 weeks ago on a friday night and the more im thinking of this the more appalled we are about it. There was a young girl getting an order ready for collection and she asked the owner was everything in the bag? the owner replied in a very sarcastic manor "do you think ide let the order go if it wasn't?" It was the way you said it and the dirty look you gave her, if we hadn't of just paid for our order we would have walked out and gone else where. Let me just remind you that this is someones daughter and thats no way to be talking to any of your staff especially young girls, how would you like it if someone gave your daughter attitude and sarcasm? We come to this chip shop as it's close to us but the prices have gone a bit too high. you can get the same quality of food else where for a much cheaper price and more. we wait to hear your apology.....

I popped into this chippy last week as I was passing for work. Very hungry so begrudgingly swallowed the £6 price tag for basic doner meat and chips. Not an uncommon price in affluent areas I know but more than I am used to paying. The establishment was clean and well presented and to be fair the chips were nice. The kebab meat however, was cut far too thick, was very dry and tasted a bit odd. The thing that topped it off was when I got my change of £3.80 from ten pounds and questioned it, the slightly embarrassed looking employee said it’s extra for sauce. This may be because I had chilli AND mayonnaise but when you consider the fact it was severely watered down having paid extra it seems like a bit of a Micky take. I won’t be rushing back!

Absolutely obscene prices. Thiefs. I have used this chip shop for many years and never have I been so disappointed. I know the cost of living has increased but by no where near this much. Costa the owner is a thief.

Not great. They will reheat there chips from lunch time and sell it at the same price as fresh chips. 4 pound for large chips.

Really disappointed that at £4 for chips they decided to reheat the chips from lunch time. They were hard and tasted Old. Will think twice before going there again.

Good sized portions, well cooked, not greasy, polite speedy service, what more could you want? The fish was not the processed variety you often get and the chips were well cooked and not greasy. Some of the best fish and chips I've had in a long time. Well done Costas Atlantic Fish Bar!

Just dropped in on way back to the office and was really impressed with the service today, a great lad with a positive attitude to the thankless task of serving the great British public! So very refreshing to see! Oh, and the sausage and chips were great too!

What a difference to my last visit. Hot fresh food served by a very pleasant young man. Chips were cooked to perfection and David Attenborough would think they had been Whale hunting the fish was so big. Really enjoyed my meal.

Just bought Cod and Chip's. The food was all stuck to the paper lost loads scrapping it off. I thought I was going to have to throw it a lifebelt as the food was drowning in grease. Would expect better for the price.

I think being next door to an undertakers is rubbing off. Dower and painfully awkward customer service approach being served by lurch, monosyllabic who embalmed my order with salt and the scantest fly over of vinegar. If your hungry and need food in a hurry Tesco or coop are near by.

Tiny fish in large amount of batter, and super greasy.

It has ups and downs like most places but currently it's in a little bit of a funk, Its my nearest chippy but the jumbo sausages are sometimes funky tasting as if they have gone off. Generous portion sizes, decent prices and really good that you can pay via card. On a personal preference would prefer the chips to be slightly crunchier. One of the best if not the best chippy in South Hereford.

I was staying in a Bnb nearby and needed an evening meal. Reviews suggested it was a bit hit and miss but I must say I was very impressed. Mixed kebab meats and chips. All hot, tasty and loads of it. Maybe they had a bit of a quality dip in the past. Maybe they just had some bad reviews from people that did not like them but I was very impressed and if this is their new normal than all good.

My mum used this chip shop many times. We ordered 5 mini fish and chip and a mix of the chips were roar hard and not cooked. We rang to let them know only to be told this can't be the case....when 5 of us said the same. Won't be using again....bad customer service

Very hit or miss, batter often soggy, fish mushy. I find when the husbands wife is cooking (I think it is) the food has always been good. I've found this is early on, when it just opens. As a local to the chippy and a former Friday customer, I tend to drive a few minutes more to Whitecross fish bar or Edwards plaice.

Couldn’t recommend this enough! As a regular customer and as are my family I’d like to give credit where it’s needed :)The hygiene is always amazing and the workers are always clean and tidy, prices are reasonable for what you get and the food always tastes amazing and fresh!

The fish and chips are amazing here! We always travel from Kingstone (20 mins) just to have fish and chips from Costa’s Atlantic fish and chip bar! Great service too!

This is very good takeaway not a cafe or restaurant. A good selection of items to choose from including Cod, Haddock, Plaice, Sausages, Pies, Kebabs (3 varieties), Burgers & some other extras. Some of the selections are starred on the menu & are prepared while you wait.

Whole experience very bad.. Avoid like the plague

Just been there and bought large portion chip a raw cornish pasty a half empty chicken and mushroom pie and a burger. Only thing that was eaten fully is the burger. We watched the younger man turn on all the heating elements on the kebab meat and after we ordered immediately turn it off. So they are a cause for concern. The chips.... at least a couple of days old. Not keeping food at the right temperature is dangerous!

I like Costas, the fish is always in a delicious and crunchy batter and the chips are not soggy and greasy. It's a shame that whenever I go there and ask for haddock (it's on the menu) there's never any available.

Awful customer service... I wanted a little salad in a wrap the lady said no asked why she said because you can't end of. Will never be taking my money there again.

Shouldn't even get one star - manager is the worst type of person physically pushed my brother out of the place after he quit his job. Hed been working for them for at least 6 months and when he decides to leave them physical assault him. Grown man pushing a 19 year old is sick and disgusting treatment after good service. Honestly couldn't be more disgusted and disappointed with this and wouldn't recommend eating somewhere where the owner and .manager is such a disgusting person. Such as shame as the food is fantastic and the rest of the staff is always kind and quick service. Best chip shop in town such a shame the management is so appalling!!
