Really great chippy. Staff really friendly.

Quite often go here for fish and chips as it is one of the best fish and chip shops in Hereford. Fish is cooked to perfection and the chips are clean and taste just as chip shop chips should do. I’ve also had their sausage tray meal which is just as good.

After have several really good fish and chips from here I was very disappointed with the haddock and chips I ordered on Friday. The fish was dry (obviously been cooked quite some time before) the chips weren't fresh and both were luke warm . I'm hoping they were having an off night because the food previously was lovely. Due to the cost of living increases fish and chips is a treat and unfortunately it ended up in the bin.

We tried to fish and chips the other day and my mother and I and we were very impressed with the price and fresh cooking. The ladies in the shop were fantastic. We're coming again today. Thank you very much. .

It obviously wasn't the best chippy I've ever been to but it is definitely in my top 3. Good service and the well cooked. Very enjoyable and would recommend.

Searching for Fish & Chip near me on a Sunday and being very few open this was my nearest. After seeing a brief view of the reviews I thought I would give them a try. I will not be returning and reading the bad review after my experience my conclusion was near the same (being mixed ethnic origin myself). Upon arrival I was the only customer in the store, I ordered 2 fish & chips which were £9.50 each mind the price board stated “fish & chips and Sauce would be £7”. Due to price rises I didn’t question and proceeded, while the young cashier giving me an unpleasant screw face with no “can I take your order” before I ordered. I asked if I could have some garlic sauce on top of my order, apparently that cannot be done and only served in the smallest container. As anyone else would do I asked for another, they didn’t have anymore containers. This container was the size of 2 dips of chips, so I asked if I could have the curry sauce instead. The older woman took my payment and put both sauces in my bag, I explained the issue and her reply being “what am I meant to do with this garlic mayo now?”. I was in shock at her reply. She asks “is that by card?” meanwhile the other younger cashier is asking if I want vinegar on my fish. I reply “yes card machine please”, the young cashier proceeds to pour vinegar on my fish. I then go to say “I don’t like vinegar none please” she replies “it’s not a lot, deal with it” and smiles. I’m not a confrontational person, pay and leave quickly. I will never be returning again, I wish I said something about how bad their customer service was, or walked out as soon as I seen the rude behaviour. I was hoping on the drive home the taste of the food would greatly outweigh the customer service, disappointingly I cannot say it was. Very bland! curry sauce had the texture of jelly with no taste, chips were still like a potato and the fish was mush. I hope other people read the reviews entirely before ordering from here.

‘Welcome’ fish bar ?? 😂 a change of name or attitude needed here ! Food aint that bad, if you like your chicken curry reheated for 10 minutes in an old microwave but the chips are good. Service with a smile isn’t on the menu and the girl serving had the personality of a corpse ! I know it’s not a highly skilled position but a ‘hello’ or a ‘thank you’ doesn’t need a degree. I’ve been going there for years on n off and I don’t think i’ve ever seen them smile for anyone. Hey ho it is what it is !

This is a nice little chip shop. The food was hot and plentiful. I had the fish chips, sausage, mushy peas and a couple of bread rolls. There was a large selection of cooked food when I was there it was very hot, but I don’t know how long it would last or if they were expecting a rush. The batter on the fish and sausages was crisp and the chips were well seasoned and fresh. Unfortunately the bread rolls were burger baps so sorry not to my taste. The staff were friendly and helpful. Overall quite a nice chippy

My 10 year old son absolutely loves ‘chip man chips’ on a Thursday we always treat him to his chips after football training! First time in trying this little gem! I fully trust my son opinion, he is a chip connoisseur!! Very picky eater , He has an appetite with what he enjoys but it can be hard at times! The ladies serving was lovely, lots of light hearted banter with him. They asked me to come back to let them know what he thinks of their chips. So…. He loves them! And yes!! He finished the portion! Lol He has now chosen you as his ‘chip man’ so expect to see us every Thursday! Very reasonable price too! See you next week :)

On the 18/03/2023 was the second time I had attended the dilapidated food premises, as a last result, due to other local chip shops being closed. The premises has a dated 1980's appearance and atmosphere. In terms of customer service, I have found the older female staff member, somewhat unfriendly. On this occasion, I was not accompanied with my partner and it was empty at the time. I stood in the food premises waiting for several minutes before being served. I could hear people talking in the back of the outlet. Eventually the older female staff member appeared, made no eye contact, spoke to me with a monosyllabic tone... no courtesy apology. I was very polite to the staff member. So was unsure why the staff member appeared rude and pedantic? I must admit, I have returned several times to other food outfits, despite food has not been of the best quality, but their customer care service, has been second to none! Their food was not all that. I got the impression that they possibly serve very little consumers of ethnicity (if any). I am so glad of modern technology, so one did not give her the opportunity to express their discontent via the exchange of psychical currency! Will not be attending there again, and have informed all friends and family members of such experience!

I've been there 3 times and well what can u say about this chip STAY AWAY IF U DONT WANT FOOD poisoning had a battered brugger the other day only to find myself once again over the toilet for 2 days now and has put people in hospital due to serving food that's not in sell by dates .STAY WELL AWAY PLEASE IVE REPORTED THEM

Come here a fair bit as it our closest chippy, the food was enjoyable. Been back since lots as its local and they never have enough chips and always seem to heat everything in the microwave (and you can taste it.) Feel like its gone down in the past few years. Its alright, but not our fave

The Welcome Fish Bar serves the best traditional fish, chips & curry sauce. They also serve roe, chicken, battered sausages, spring rolls, various pies chicken curry, and Kebabs and so much more. We go there every Friday to get our favourite takeaway. I

What a whopper for a lunchtime cod and chips, I needed a snooze after eating all that lovely food.

1st time eating here today, Staff friendly, clean, reasonable priced good portions. I had kebab meat & chips in a tray so can only comment on what I had. The chips are very nice 10/10 the kebab was tasty but mushy 5/10 will defo eat from here again & will defo recommend

Horrible, kebab meat chicken and doner was descusting. The doner meat was very spicy, good at times but that's what sauce is for. Kids cried of heat!! Chicken repeated. Only best thing was chips but that's ony potatoes. Won't go again

Terrible. Pretty sure I just had lunchtime leftovers reheated. Fish was dry and crumbly. Chips were vile. A zero star review would be better

If you've been there you'll know why it's only got one star. What a cramped place. The chips were bland. The batter was pasty. Not recommended.

By far the worst fish and chips I've had. The fish seemed to have been held for a while after cooking. The chips were clearly cooked in old oil. Petton size was poor

Nice chips and they're always open. My only grumble is their fish is always skin on. Sausages are nice and they also sell chocolate.
