Costa Coffee, Unit 14, Octagon Centre in East Staffordshire

I brought a maple hazelnut latte and a cheese and ham toastie to eat in once I found a clean table, my drink sat on the tray going cold it was just at warm enough to drink otherwise I would of took it back but normally it’s really hot while they finished cooking my toastie then just put it on the tray and walked off no moving tray to me or a thank you usually they say I’ll bring toastie over but I haven’t been for a while There is a handful of people in here two of the staff girls are sat chatting while food was on the floor all around them there’s about 15 tables with dirty pots on them waiting to be cleared another staff member sat chatting on her phone the toilets are dirty. No customers waiting to be served don’t get why they are not clearing tables I had to wipe my table with my napkin before I could sit down. I can understand they may have been busy but no one in now waiting to be served but don’t think I’ll come again it’s gone down hill

Great place here. Always come here for hot chocolate and it’s the best it is so delicious and the food is great plus good service

Don't go for a coffee here was waiting for 30 minutes worst coffee shop I've ever been to staff are very slow was just standing around looking spaced out

"open until 7pm Sunday's"...no it's not! Open until 4pm. Had a magic bag to collect at 4:15pm and staff refused to open door. Finally did and when questioned why they are not open until 7pm, as it's stated on the door, they just walked away. Finally got the goods I paid for after banging on the door. I've had issues here before in the past, but this topped it off. Never again!

I stood in the queue for 15 mins just to buy a sandwich. Eventually I had to leave without having been served. I get back pain when standing too long. I was refused the request to sit down while the 2 staff took far too long making coffees. Either utilize an express lane Speed up a bit or let us sit down while you fiddle about.

Absolutely terrible service at this Costa outlet. There appears to be a big shortage of staff here and the the one's working are more interested in chit chat than to serving the customer's and so poor manners no please or thanks you here. Will avoid in future.

Just Don’t!! Appalling service, snappy staff on counter and coffee you may as well of got from Tesco costa dispenser.

we had to queue for fifteen minutes to be served: drinks were only ok. Tables were disgustingly dirty and we had to ask a member of staff to remove someone’s previous lunch and drinks. They didn’t bother to wipe down the tables. won’t return!

Terrible queues every day the coffee machines take to long to complete the drinks.Never been into costa when the queue wasn't half way down the shop.Latte is the weakest out of all the well known coffee shops.

Another overpriced coffee shop in Burton, close to four others (not costas lol) go round the corner to Pauls he has tables outside as well. Also offers tea, coffee and hot choc for a quid

Just had a Beechwood smoked bacon roll with a latte. Must congratulate the company for a WELL FILLED roll. Often when buying from many coffee shops or cafes, there is little fillings especially bacon. Certainly more generous than a Mac bacon roll.

3 serving. 5 waiting for drinks. Maybe 4 in front of me in the queue. Stood still for ten minutes. Didn’t move an inch. Went elsewhere where there were 4 people in front of me and was sat with my coffee within five minutes! Frustrating.

What is not to like about a Costa Latte and brown toast, very nice this branch has both inside/outside seating.

I went in the other day. Firstly the person serving seemed confused by green tea and weak coffee. The coffee I got was cold and no taste of vanilla. Really expensive for the size of the cup. Very disappointing.

Six or seven visits here and I'm pretty impressed. The service is good and the staff pleasant and charming. Ok, the coffee is still cold and the toast is barely toasted but that's the Costa brand I guess

We go every week to this costa , we look forward to our coffee and toasty. Very good.Always an excellent service. Staff are always friendly and very helpful. The staff work very hard and are always so busy. If there is one thing I could change it would be for more staff! A big thank you to all the girls in costa

If I could give zero stars I would unfortunately had to give them one star. Grumpy woman taking orders at the till. Clare who was making the drinks is by far the worst member of staff in this branch. When I had a query about my order she turned round from making another customers drink and gave me a filthy look she then shouted at myself and partner and was extremely abusive and rude. If Costa are happy to employ someone like this I definitely will not be visiting this branch again New street Burton on Trent (Octagon Centre). I spend a lot of money in Costa and stopped using this branch a long time ago as the coffee is terrible but thought I’d give it another go. NEVER AGAIN. Service ridiculously slow, rude abusive staff, dirty tables and horrible coffee. I will stick to Costa in Tesco (Burton)

As an avid Costa customer..........this is always a visit if I need a drink or not ☺ if I haven't already eaten, I recommend there brown toast ☺☺☺

The worst costa i've ever been too. Slow unfriendly staff, dirty tables and frankly disgusting drinks. Turned me off the franchise all together.

It's great at Costa nice place great food nice drinks cool place. I really liked it and I enjoyed my food.

If you are happy going to chain cafes like this one it's fine, and one of the nicer ones. Good service and a nice atmosphere but still the usual fare of every other Costa -still don't like your massive cups!

Gran Café hecho por la señora rubia glam, siempre ocupado en esta costa. Mesas de trabajo personal mantener clara y duro intentando mantener la cola. Por desgracia, una mosca zumbando en el gabinete pastel, que pone de un poco!

Tuvimos que esperar para una cita en Burton, así que fuimos a la nueva calle Costa (Centro de octagon). Servicio lento, personal no parecen estar trabajando juntos. Generalmente sucia, basura y sucias en el suelo detrás de trapo empelado. Vi 8 cafés y hacer Barrista No limpie el vaporizador de leche una vez. Decidí sentarme fuera, mesas no habían limpiado así estaban sucias, un inodoro fuera de uso y los otros sembrados con toallas de papel usado en el suelo. Café tan bueno como de costumbre de Costa (expresso para mí así que no sucio! leche vapor Todos nos sentimos) pero un poco barato y sucios.

Just had a coffee and toasties from Costa in Burton. Good service all be it a little slow ,good WiFi and not a bad place to kill some time

Went in for a cappuccino coffee they asked what size. Reply large please. When it arrived freshly made in a LARGE cup with two handles well that is large. I enjoyed the drink and getting cream on the end of my nose. A peek times you may have to wait but it is worth it to have it fresh and hot. I will go again and cake, but will hide the calorie book first!

Always get good coffee, staff are good but the waiting times at busy periods is no good for people with limited lunch breaks.

Great for coffee or a mega hot chocolate you can always guarantee a great drink. Staff are always nice and will make the drink the way you want it which is great for when we take my little one with us. The food here though is expensive which is a shame.

Love love love this place. I always come here 2 catch up with my friends when the kids r at school. Whether its coffe or a refreshing cold drink its always of high quality.

I come here weekly and the staff are great.. Scott one of the barista's is wonderful. He remembers the regulars and is always really friendly. Busy place but the staff do look after you

I love Costa coffee, it's always my go to place. I love the coffee and cakes. Unfortunately the Burton chain is just not up to speed. The service is way too slow and is just not on par with other stores around he country.

Friendly staff, lovely astomphere, excellent service, food and drink and service, can't complain, love this Costa! Lovely place to get a bite to eat and drink, meet friends and family and alot more :)

Visited her Saturday 16th January to grab a coffee and toast with my daughter before shopping. There were three staff on. One serving one making coffees and the other lady just floating about cleaning tables etc. In front of me was about 7 customers all awaiting drinks. The lady came to serve me which was all good and then I awaited in the que for my drinks. The lady on the coffee machine was running about like a headless chicken and when the other barista asked if she needed any help had her head nearly ripped off saying no I'm ok. But really she did need the help. Whilst still waiting in the que my toast had been taken to my daughter sitting in the restaurant. By the time my drinks came and went to sit down my food was cold. Probably one of the worse costa's I've been to

Great if you can get a seat, this is always busy with long queues but that shows how good the coffee is

Just you average Costa. Great beverages and snacks at the slightly higher price than you would usually pay anywhere else but hey, its Costa! The service is always friendly and make you feel like a valued customer. There is always a large line of people waiting to get served, is this because the store is under staffed? or just slow? Its a nice place to chill out when having been rushing around on your feet shopping or simply just as a treat!

Whenever we visit Costa Coffee there always seems to be a huge queue and a very long wait for a couple of drinks!

Very slow for drinks, waiting 30 mins for 2 coffee and a cooler!! Was people in there with lap tops , taking up tables with no drinks!

This Costa was very busy but very cosy and friendly. We didn't mind the que as we know the coffee is lovely! Great for a catch up and great coffee! :)

I own a Costa machine - I do like their coffee, but...The service in this branch is incredibly slow - ridiculously slow in fact. How come that busy Birmingham and London coffee shops can clear huge queues quickly and yet this place massively struggles? It's a real let down and Burton seriously needs more competition.I've awarded a 1 star in the hope that the management get a grip.

Costa really need to improve the standards in this store. Okay so it was a busy day we visited, but did they really have to poor the tea 10 minutes ahead of making the coffee. They also forgot to put the cakes we ordered on the tray and then demanded to check our receipt. In all other branches they put the cakes on the tray before taking payment. Although the store was very busy there were a lot of staff behind the counter who were assisting. In summary avoid this branch.

Um bom custo beneficio, serviço e atendimento muito parecido com o starbucks. Os lanches são gostosos, com ingredientes frescos. Bom para uma almoço rápido, sem perder tempo.

Ive been using costa for a long time now and i find that the service is in there is fast and friendly and the quality of the drink and food is briliant is always clean in there and good atmosphere long may it continue

They can only deal with one order at a time so queues are regular and quite long. Food very overpriced too, what little they actually serve.

very poor customer service on the border of being downright rude.Had to give my order at the till 3 times as she was not listening and to busy chatting to her friend in the queue behind me ! She then tutted when I had to raise my voice so could here me.She also forgot to put our hot sandwiches in to heat up and it wasn't noticed until after I got to the end of the coffee waiting queue.The coffee was awful full of coffee bean grounds and sludgy.On mentioning this to the barrister I was started at and told that's how it comes! seriously!Table was dirty and we had to clean it ourselves and when the hot sandwich finally arrived it was slammed on the out tables and told "here" in a very nasty attitude.This is not the first time we have had problems at this Costa,

Very poor customer service from this branch of Costa. Staff more interested in chatting with friends in the store meant I had to give my order twice and the Batista making drinks still got it wrong. Also first branch that do not make drinks in order they are received meant I had to wait even longer than usual

You know what drinks and food you will get at a Costa coffee, the things that make a difference is the cleanliness and helpful staff. This costa had tables that were cleared and cleaned promptly. A memmber of staff actualy used a brush and pan to clear litter of the floor. The bright new chairs and decor made this coffee shop a treat to sit in. If you want to see the opposite visit the shop in the Derby Westfield centre.

This Costa Coffee has little competition and it shows. The service is slow and muddled. There is usually a diary free cake option in Costa Coffee and yet not here. The store design is very poor. As you queue for the till you are on the run way for those using the loos. People barge past in both directions which is really frustrating.

You can't say much about costa coffees... They are all the same. But what makes this coffee shop is the lovely staff. The two ladies who were on that particular morning were so lovely and welcoming.Skinny latte and lemon muffin. Beautiful.

Lovely coffee shop with big sofa's and nice seats to sit and watch the world go by with some great drinks. Nice location on the corner in one of the businest spots in town, but feel lovely and relaxed inside.

I'm not a huge fan of chains, as I think they tend to lack the quality of smaller, independent places, but my friend and I occasionally meet here for coffee when shopping in Burton. On the last visit I tried a caramel latte, which I found OK but overheated. The tables here are nearly always dirty and uncleared and I find it frustrating that after queueing for your order, you then have to wait for your own tray and carry it with you. Food options are mainly pre-made paninis etc, which you carry yourself to the counter and they are simply put on a plate and brought over. No presentation! Staff are generally very quick but not always the friendliest!

Costa Cafe to me is grosely over priced for what you get. There are plenty of privately owned cafes that need your money and will give better service and quality. Try upstairs in the Octagon centre.

I love Costa... The only problem is, the oldies of Burton on Trent are not used to it. They see it as a cafe... They see it as a place where they can sit on their own at a table for four and spend three hours there! Haha. Sometimes it can be really difficult to get a seat! :0(The people who work there are very friendly, they understand people's needs and they understood my allergy needs! A great costa in a great location!

I'm a coffee addict, so a bit biased, but the extra strong latte is to die for. If you like Italian American coffee, go there now! The savoury food isn't great, mainly sandwiches and toasties in a packet, but the sweet stuff is lovely (cakes, pastries, croissants, biscuits). A bit costly just for coffee and a snack, but worth it.

A nice roomy Costa, and friendly chap making the drinks.All fairly clean, even the toilets, which isn't always true for Costa.Good choice of cakes.
