Awful service; slow, rude and incompetent don’t bother! There are so many better, faster and competent coffee shops in Hereford.

We have have been going to Costa many times a week for along time and the staff are a efficient, happy team. The new Manager has started and has gelled with the team well. Fixing everything that needs fixing. We look forward to many more happy visits to Costa.

A lovely coffee shop with excellent service an customer friendly staff, who are very welcoming an helpful, all the staff including the manager are fun, friendly, lovely people and I will definitely come bk for service such as they provide.

The girl at the checkout is not polite. I don't speak English so I didn’t understand her, but she just laughed. I'm upset

we where greeted by a man who was hypa,he was amusing/funny and we bounced off each other. i hope he does not get a miserable person very often.

Breakfast and caffeine fix at Costa during our holiday in Hereford. It was very close to the Premier Inn that we were staying at. The seating area upstairs is great and gives you a view of the bustling town centre across the main road. The main issue to report is that whilst Covid precautions were in place, we did see a waitress clear away a table and not return back to sanitise it immediately. Another family in the meantime came and occupied the table. There was ample time for the person to come back and sanitise it but clearly was not on her priority list. Goes to show that what an establishment says and what it does can be two different things.

We popped in to this branch of Costas for our caffeine fix as it is very close to the old market. It was very busy as it was the day before the second lockdown came into effect and the staff were doing their best but unfortunately the coffee wasn’t up to Costas usual standard. Not quite as hot as we would have liked but with a long queue of waiting customers we decided not to take it back. Guess you can’t win all the time.

staff were very proficient at their job. very easy access. good variety of food and snacks. recommend this place every time

What an utter disappointment. As a person who has a severe dairy allergy and often has to follow a vegan diet I was appalled that when we went into the coffee shop at 11am the only food available for a vegan was bananas and crisps!!! When we asked if they had anything else to accommodate my allergy their answer was all we have is in the cabinets. I asked why they didn’t have any food that was either dairy free or vegan the answer was they don’t sell so we no longer stock that food!!! With that answer we left and went up the road to Cafe Nero where there was 7 different vegan and dairy free choices. If Costa cannot accommodate allergy diets then we will not be going there again.

Nice open and friendly place. The staff are helpful and the coffee is good and the various snacks. On a warm sunny day one can sit outside and watch the world go by.

Whilst we were staying in Hereford, we visited this Costa several times. We were surprised at how warm the cafe was on each occasion; not overly so, but noticeable. Did enjoy the coffee.

Popped in here for our coffee fix & hubby had a meeting. Coffee was hot & lovely. Staff friendly & efficient. Some tables needed cleared & it needed a bit of a clean upstairs. Some of the seat coverings were in need of a fix. Most Costas are the same but friendly staff make a difference.

If you visit the lovely county town of Hereford, & fancy a great cup of coffee then make your way to the town square where you will find this establishment. The staff there are very friendly & can provide you with some good varieties of coffee & some snacks for a very reasonable price.

We called in here before we hit the shops . We all sat outside, in the morning sunshine, tables were all nice and clean , and the areas outside were all tidy . We were served quickly, and the coffee was very good as usual

The staff are always welcoming and the service is great. The tables could be cleaner, but it’s busy, so staff can only do so much. They used to serve the best Chai Tea Latte, but the recipe has been changed and now it’s quite bland.

Whenever we go to Hereford on a shopping expedition we always end up going to Costa for a great cup of coffee. The staff are nice & they can provide you with some excellent coffee as well as some hot & cold snacks & all for a very reasonable price.

i’m not against costa coffee, if anything, you can always count on them for an accessible drink when needed. but this costa falls far short of my basic expectations of the chain.not only was i ignored before making my initial order, the ticket was then ignored by the person on the coffee machine for 5 minutes whilst she chatted to her friend, keeping in mind that i was the only customer there at the time, how can this be acceptable?this poor service would have been easy to forget, with the thought of my coffee in hand to keep me warm whilst walking to my destination on a cold morning, but no... the coffee went in the bin as it was so bad tasting. it’s not the coffee beans that are necessarily poor tasting, as i have had the same drink from a different costa in hereford, and it has been delicious. but this coffee... the milk was burnt and there was no chocolate to be tasted at all. after having this exact experience on two separate occasions, it is safe to say i won’t be returning to this setting.i’d rather go without.

Needed to be in town early and Costa was open ideal! Decided to have a large coffee lady very friendly serving all lovely and clean, the coffee was nice but very strong toilets really clean too! Would recommend

I never thought of writing a review of Costa Coffee but not only is this a bright, comfortable place (with oak beams aplenty) but it is quite probably the friendliest and most welcoming 'multiple' coffee shop I have been too: great staff, keen to please and producing good coffee too (although in fairness that's probably not too different to any other Costa). My first visit was early after a longish trip; my second in the same day after a lengthy business meeting to catch up on emails. On my second visit, staff recognised me and asked whether my visit to Hereford had been successful. Well done for showing that a multiple coffee shop can be every bit as welcoming as an independent.

After a 2 hour drive, just parked up in the car park round the corner and found Costa by chance. It was a nice looking venue. Staff were friendly and welcoming. Usual Costa menu. Got served fairly quickly, but it seemed a popular place and the queue behind us started to build.

After doing your shopping in Hereford & feel rather thirsty why not visit Costa. It is a friendly place, they can provide you with a lot of goodies & a great cup of coffee all for a very reasonable price.

This location is great to meet up with friends or have a pit stop before taking on Hereford's shopping delights.Right next to the multi storey car par and the Old Market development.

I like to pop in when over this side of the city it’s my go to place for a mocha or hot chocolate,clean and a good place to rest your feet

Stopped here for a coffee, we sat outside as the sun was shining ( for a short while) . Lovely friendly staff and very good coffee. Tables outside were all clean and tidy

This coffee house is located in the old market area near the town centre, & has seating both inside & out. The staff are very friendly there & they can provide you with a wide variety of food & cakes etc as well as some good coffee & all for a very reasonable price.

We stopped off in Hereford whilst making the long trek from North Wales down to South Wales and ended up in Costa, It's a typical Costa, not noticeably different from any other branch of Costa I've ever set foot in, but acceptable. Best thing was that there was plenty of outdoor seating to watch the world go by for 15 minutes.

Stopped of recently on way back to car and was pleasantly surprised at a very nice panini and hot chocolate.served quite quickly,a very busy place.

I have visited this store a number of times and enjoyed my experience any time, whether it is at the start of the day or the end, the staff are attentive and happy to serve you! In particular, the Barista Beth (blonde hair) is lovey and catered for my needs (I am gluten free, she provided a book which showed me an exact list of what each product had in!) Very impressive and nothing was too much trouble which I really did appreciate as the store was fairly busy during this particular visit!

Not many clean tables downstairs, whilst in the queue waiting the back work area didn't seem very tidy and clean but put it down to maybe been busy hence no clean tables, went upstairs well it then went downhill, the ledge where we sat leading to the toilet was covered in dust and not fresh dust, I went to the toilet and it was filthy the back of the inside was stained when I turned to leave and check out another toilet I noticed the metal kickboard at the bottom of the door I don't think this has ever been cleaned, I never tried another toilet just waited till I went somewhere else, on leaving going down the stairs the dust and dirt behind the hand railings (side of steps) was awful, this was my 1st time in Costa and will be my last. I must say that the staff member that served us was very friendly and nice.

If you have been shopping in Hereford & browsing around the shops & fancy a break for some refreshments, then why not make your way to Costa's for a nice cup of coffee. The staff there are nice & as well as coffee they can provide you with hot & cold snacks & some very tasty cakes & all for a very reasonable price.

Myself & my partner go in here regularly. It can get very busy at times but the staff are still always very pleasant and welcoming. The building is nice and light and airy. The only thing that bothers me is the seating area outside doesn't have a no smoking section. If the weather is nice I like to sit outside but it's horrible having clouds of smoke puffed over me.

What I become to expect from Costa , good customer service, friendly and knowledgeable staff the only thing that let them down and not give 4⭐️ was the state of the toilet . Guys you must clean the toilets , it's not the front of cafe , not good enough

The coffee was fantastic as with all costa chains, the baristas were lovely and kind however despite service being slow I understand as I came in during the lunch hour rush. The seating is comfortable and I was able to do my college work in peace.

This was a lovely Costa cafe in a beautiful city. The staff were friendly and the coffee drinks, cappuccino and Latte were superb! Definite up there with the best! Their award plaque showed that!

Staff could crack a smile from time to time and slow. When clearing tables staff didn't ripe the surfaces down leaving then sticky and not just on our table.

judt missed the lunchtime rush arrived just before 1pm on a Wednesday. Excellent cappuccino and cheese and ham toastie. moderately priced , great ambience well positioned . Great place to meet.

Staff always friendly and helpful, no matter what time of day you visit. Clean and comfortable with a good atmosphere. Spacious with upstairs seating also. A good selection of snacks and delicious cakes!

My first visit to this Costa and was pretty impressed. Plenty of outside seating (a sun trap - if it's out!)

Always head for a Costa Coffee. We are always served by friendly, cheerful staff however busy. The whole area is always clean & fresh & the coffee & chocolate the best anywhere.

Had travelled a long way to see the sights of Hereford; first thing after parking, stretch out & have a coffee. Yes, they had a paper available so extend the stay slightly. Nice atmosphere, outside if you want. Just a gentle flow of customers, no huge queue, seemed the staff were not only pleasant, but well drilled & efficient. Good coffee, & usual nibbles. Wonderful. And as we left we asked for some directions & they were absolutely lovely people too.

Lovely coffee, brilliant staff, good selection of cakes, sandwiches etc etc. Clean and welcoming. What more could you want. Have been in many Costas and this is on the top of my list. Don't miss it!

Very slow service, one not very happy staff member would help if they just smiled a little . I was first in the queue and still waited nearly 5mins before I sat down, at one stage there was 2 staff making one drink, petty really because it's great coffee, staff just need to shape up a bit

A very nice Costa coffee shop, Coffee as alway 1st class, light bites or cakes are very good, for the price. Shop was clean and toilets kept to a good standard. Staff friendly and helpful. Can't ask for more.

Always enjoy a large Hot Chocolate, went there with my Partner, her son and my son and his girlfriend. It was busy, bur always lots of room upstairs to sit down.

Costa has consistently good coffee. And they have added to the food menu: Toasties. Not as good as the paninis. But try the millionaire's shortbread.

The coffee is always excellent and the staff are very friendly and knowledgable. The oak framed building is superb and the location is ideal for the new Market development.

It's always a pleasure to spend 30-45 minutes here, as the coffee is good and the staff here are quick, efficient and friendly. It can get busy at certain times but that's a sign that other people like coming here to chat and unwind. Great place to stop for a coffee.

Whenever we visit Hereford our 1st stop is coffee at Costa. Always a pleasure to call in . Staff extremely friendly, & efficient even when very busy. Join the queue as you will not have a long wait. & guarantee you will receive a lovely smile & a superb coffee.

Usual Costa food and drinks but very friendly staff and an interesting oak framed interior, very in keeping with the local area.

A tricky one to review, however, its always busy, and the servicevis as quick as they can be. The lay out is ridiculous, u never know who's queuing to make an order or queuing waiting for their order. Its all very unorganised. But, the coffee is good! So it kind of depends on the fact, of u dont like waiting, then this place is certainly not for you.

Visited here recently, was a very long que however worth the wait very comfortable with extra seating upstaira worth a visit if in the local area, would visit again

Pleasant enough service,despite the extortionate coffee shop prices. As usual sat on the sofa's and had the coffee and buns brought too our table, this was because my friend and I are both disabled and use aids to walk, not that we're lazy or anything!

We visit this Costa Coffee and it is great. The staff are always very friendly, it's always very clean. It is a great place to meet up with friends.

We have been going to Costa Old Market for lunch on Saturday ever since it opened.

Came here because it was big with my 3 friends and there babies we had a struggle getting in and the tables were crammed in we were told we could go upstairs but with 4 babies ranging from 0-6 months we couldn't lug them all upstairs without a lift.

Been in here a few times since this new Costa opened in Hereford & it goes down each time we have visited u know it's very busy but they have lots of staff working there. The tables are always full of dirty cups & plates & when a table is empty it is usually sticky or had drinks still spilled on it. The store just looks tatty & untidy especially for a newish Costa also on our last visit my wife noticed that the cakes had a lot of flies on them & in the cake counter she pointed this out to a young girl behind the counter & said its not good hygiene practice as customers have to eat them also small children & old people the young girl went & told the manager about our concerns who looked at us shrugged his shoulders & walked off. We now use the other Costa store in the centre of Hereford bigger cleaner & friendly staff. How can two Costa stores in the same city 5 mins walk from each other be so different !!!!!

The new(er) coffee shop is better. Spacious, good service and decent coffee. I still don't really enjoy the limited menu of food, but for coffee and a read of the daily paper, this is better than he old one.

I am not a fan of this chain and as I was meeting a friend I was asked to wait here for them. The coffee is not to my liking so I had tea. I do not like the location of the new store as it is so close to a very busy road and small children are very likely to run out into the main road traffic if not watched by parents like a hawk, in my opinion. The staff are OK but not outstanding. No plans to meet anyone there again as it did not impress me.

Always have our coffee here after a journey from west wales. Spotlessly clean, friendly staff,great selection & quality of coffee. Always well looked after with a smile. What more could one ask for? See you again soon.

Favourite place to grab a hot white chocolate and a tiffin. Very nicely done up and suits the new development well. Need more staff for sure especially during the weekend rush.

Visited with a friend for coffee and a muffin. Sat upstairs which is a really nice area! Great muffin as ever. Coffee not bad. Waiting staff came over when I was clearly halfway through my coffee and muffin and asked if I was finished! Erm, no. Otherwise a good place for a meetup and a chat.

Very slow and under staffed making the drinks good drinks only 9pm in the morning 😣 pleasant staff but in this world need to be quicker

Welcome break & thoroughly enjoyed out coffee. Staff were busy but thorough & the queues didn`t really mount up as can happen. The staff were very friendly, cheerful & helpful. There is plenty of seating &downstairs; suitable for prams, pushchairs, disabled etc & further seating upstairs & everywhere was spotlessly clean with NO dirty tables & uncleared crockery which is often the exception rather than the rule.

This Costa is in the new complex in Hereford,and is very popular.The queue to order was dealt with by a very professional young lady,but as always with these coffee houses,you have to wait for the individual orders to be processed.A little wait,but overall,considering the queue,very good.

I like the costa , fast service with plenty of seating choice. You can look upstairs if too crowded downstairs. When In local city shopping I often go to the costa, nice coffee nice people just need louder music , I don't want to hear about people problem just relax

Nice building in good position for shopping in Hereford. Right next to multi-storey car park and a very convenient place to stop and get a drink before going into town. Upstairs is very pleasant and the tables etc. have always seemed to be clean and tidy whenever we have been in. The toilets on the second floor have always been spotless and so we do not really have any complaints. Perhaps previous reviewers called on a particularly busy day but don't be put off as it is still a very good place to get a decent coffee and a snack etc.

Newly opened been in twice and rather grubby. Dirty floors and tables at opening time. Is it trying to take the grubby crown from Cafe Nero. You can sit outside and watch the traffic other Costa is better. Management seems to be lacking and its only been opened a couple of months.

The new Costa on the recently opened 'Old Market' retail/leisure complex may look smart and be very busy BUT ....... they have so many new and temporary staff that quality of coffee is just not as good as the old Costa at Maylord.
