Costa Coffee in Tescos Helston in Cornwall, Isles of Scilly

Great that there is a dog friendly option in Helston, especially on a Monday! Good choice of cakes etc, great coffee, and friendly staff.

One of the worst costas I’ve ever been to came in as holiday maker most smaller cafes were shut so I thought costa would be okay and I ordered a hot latte with syrup but was given some iced latte with whipped cream etc not what I asked for at all and when ordering I tried to explain to the lady at the till to avoid confusion she ignored me and didn’t really listen at all and she thought I ordered something completely different then when I rejected what she had made and politely said that’s not what I ordered she was rather aggressive and was not pleased she had to remake my drink and I apologised and said it was okay and explained what I was trying to order she was as slamming drawers and chucking cutlery around and giving me horrible looks really was not impressed with this service I understand that mixups are frustrating but it’s also frustrating for the customer and it really wasn’t the end of the world if she had been more polite and helpful I would’ve left happy

my daughter ordered 2 x too good to go bags on Tuesday 11th June, we collected them at 3.45pm and i have to say what a complete waste of money, each bag had 2 sandwiches in each 1 with an egg sandwich and a BLT and the other with an egg sandwich and some sort of tandori chicken wrap, 1 of the egg sandwiches the bread was so stale on 1 side and the BLT the tomato had made the bread soggy so it fell apart when it got taken out of the box, i went in on Wednesday 12th to complain and was told the 2 good to go items go out of date on that day which im not disputing but please dont tell me a egg sandwich and a BLT come to £10 which is what the value is supposed to be, when i went in to complain i was told by one of the assistants that they have been told off for putting too much in the bags !!!! so now instead of having 2 x too go to go bags available they have made it into 3 so hence not worth buying as not good value at all, i wont be back again nor will i advise anyone to buy them anymore

This Costa coffee shop is really nice and lovely. The hot milkshakes were really nice. The triple chocolate biscuits were lovely.

Can't believe they charge £2.80 for still lemonade!! Just watched them fill a plastic cup with tap water then added a dash of concentrate. Poor quality.

Been here many times and find the staff and management of the highest quality. Ben and James especially stand out for their excellent barista and customer service skills. Always great customers with a smile and the hot beverages are always to the highest standard.

My friend and I had lunch there today . No trays available no cups or plates or cutlery or even napkins . We wiped out own table and the bin was over flowing . Staff just not bothered about anything . Will not be returning

This review is for the Costa in Helston town, not Tesco’s which I find to be very good and great customer service. Yesterday I purchased three drinks, one hot chocolate and two coffee’s. One latte had oat milk and one had soya. Quite often I find when I buy coffee from this branch in Helston town centre I get a very large cup full of froth. This is a re-occurring issue. No one wants a cup of foam. No one! If you order a latte you expect no froth head on it. When you buy a coffee you expect it to be like its describe in the menu but this isn’t always the case in this branch. Yesterday was no different and when I tried to approach the member of staff to put more milk in she decided to ignore me claiming later that the barrier made it hard to hear. However you know when there are people trying to talk to you, when they shout over the barrier, it’s obvious. When the staff walk off narly and you call them back a second time and they give you a look of thunder, you know they could hear you! Anna deliberately turned her back on me twice and I was the only customer in there. So I left with two medium cups of coffee that were only half full. Wonderful! When I phoned today to ask who the manager was to put in an official complaint about Anna the lady who served me yesterday, she wasn’t too sure. Slightly alarming, how do you not know who your manager is? It Left me feeling like she ended up giving me a false name and email just to deter me. I find the general atmosphere in this Costa to be uncomfortable and the lady that served me who has served me several times before always comes across as waspish and grumpy, she never smiles like they do in the Tesco Costa. When your being served you can tell by the weight of the cup that it’s only half full, and I know they can tell that too but they still give it to you anyway just because it’s a takeaway cup. If they were using the clear glass coffee cups, they would never serve half coffee half foam. I think it’s really unfair to charge full price to only give someone half a product and this is not how Costa expect their customers to be treated. I found trying to resolve this issue taxing and the information you need to sort it out is very hard to find. I will avoid this Costa in future until their customer service and knowledge of making drinks improves.

Myself and my partner are fans of Costa, and we go to them everywhere, and our experience in this branch was very much out of the usual in being so bad. This store is INSIDE a Tesco store, and to reach it, you must walk through Tesco, and indeed, almost everyone in it has been shopping in Tesco and is loaded up with shopping (quite reasonably). My partner sat down whilst I queued to buy coffee. She took out a single item we had purchased in the Tesco and took a bite from it. A staff member rushed over to her and loudly told her off like she was a criminal, waving his finger in a physically threatening manner one inch from her face. A tall man in his 20s threatening a small woman in her 50s in in aggressive manner over eating a croissant is not acceptable behaviour. I didn't know about this until I returned to the table with the coffees, at which when she told me what had happened, I summoned the staff member over. He was then rude to me as well. I asked to see the manager, and whilst she was less rude than her staff member, basically told us that by eating a croissant bought in Tesco to have with our Costa coffee, we were not welcome there. When I pointed out there was NO signage indicating this harsh policy, and that in almost every other Costa we have visited, as long as we make purchases in the Costa the fact we eat one item bought in the accompanying shop they were always fine with it, she said that this store was not, and that signs would be put up in the future to say so. Having been told we were not welcome, we walked out, coffees barely touched. I did make some detailed complaints to the Costa Head Office about this branch, about the polciy itself, the lack of signage, the rude staff and the rude way in which we felt obliged to leave. Make your own decisions, of course, but I would strongly dis-recommend this branch to anyone based on this terrible attitude to its customers.

We stopped off here for a quick snack on our way to visit someone the staff were very friendly and it was a good hot cup of coffee toasted sandwiches were average but we really enjoyed the atmosphere and will call in again if in the area.

Great drinks, great atmosphere, staff doing their best to get the drinks out quickly, would recommend and will be visiting again.

Called in to get our coffee fix, quite crowded but bought our coffee and managed to find a table. This unit is just being refurbished which is why the tables were a bit close. Service very good as normal, hopefully there will be a good refit.

Coffee is good, but doesn't look as if furnishing have been touched in years. Looked grubby, but that is probably because everything is so old. Sofa has stuffing falling out, chairs bottoms hanging loose. Worse of all cups have that rough worn look they get after so many goes in the dishwasher Staff generally helpfull, but can be grumpy (especially Ben). This could be because there never seems to be enough staff. Invariably you have to clear a table to sit down. I've decided not to use it again until it improves and use the Costas in town instead

Coffee very good as usual, staff very friendly and helpful (apart from one, James Who can be very grumpy towards customers). Decor badly needs updating along with furnishing. Not been touched for years.

Good drink, good service happy staff! What more do you want??! Would recommend and will be back soon!

We often call here for our coffees when shopping in Tesco Helston. Selection of panini, cakes and other foods seem to be getting better. Drinks are good as they normally are and the staff are always friendly. Not normally much staff on duty though. Decor badly needs updating.

Stop here for coffee several times a week, coffee always very good and made to our requirements. Range of food is impoving giving more choice to pick from. Very friendly staff here, only real downside to this place is the fact that nothing has been done to improve anything for years. Dingy walls that are scuffed and dirty, ripped seats and chairs. This unit is way behind needing an urgent refit.

Called into Costa for a relaxing coffee. As usual friendly helpful staff serving us with great coffee. Decor needs to be updated and a total refit would be useful as well. This unit seems to be quite neglected by Whitbread.

This Costa is at the back of the Tesco Extra store upstairs (not ideal or convenient for those with trolleys but there is a lift I believe). I’ve visited a couple of time in the last 6 months and have consistently found the service to be very slow even when they are relatively quiet. There has always been a queue which isn’t moving very quickly - staff all working but very inefficient!!

Usually choose Costa when we want a coffee break. Staff at this Costa are very friendly and helpful. They are happy to make your drinks as you require them. The only downside to this Costa is the fact that it has not been updated for years, furniture is very threadbear and sad looking. Big settee has stuffing coming out of it as well.

A nice and fairly clean costa, however the quality of the drinks greatly depends on who is making them.

Stopped here for coffee and a bite to eat. They do Crumpets, toast and various breakfast sandwiches.Staff and service are very good.

Arrived in Helston on a visit to Parents far too early to knock on their door. Luckily Costa was open at 7.00 am so called in & took advantage of the bacon bap & coffee offer. Excellent service from Ben and a very enjoyable bap!

Up to the usual standards of Costa. At the back of Tesco above the pharmacy and opticians. There's stairs or a lift. Friendly and efficient staff.

Sólo han empezado a compras de supermercado. Fuimos a día y decidimos tomar una bebida y un pastel. El pastel era delicioso. El servicial personal a pesar de que tenía un problema con el lavavajillas. Nos sentamos en una mesa cerca a la partición de cristal con vistas a la tienda. Yo estaba muy sorprendido al ver que el cristal estaba muy sucia y en la parte inferior de los puestos era gruesas de suciedad y sustancia, que obviamente ha estado allí durante algún tiempo. Debe ser un lugar muy concurrido, pero no hace falta decir que debería estar limpia. Nos tienda en tesco, pero no será comer en la cafetería Costa

Have visited this Costa Coffee unit numerous times and have always been very satisfied. Coffee is always prepared exactly as required, food selection not great but OK for a snack or light bite. Staff very friendly and helpful.

Lovely stop off for a good cup of coffee, good selection of sandwiches and cakes etc.Was very clean and tables cleared quickly whilst we were there. Very nice staff and helpful.

Staff were extremely chatty and helpful, you don't get that in many places now. Certainly wasn't expecting it from a costa inside a Tesco store. Topped off a good day!

I've always enjoyed having the novelty of a Costa, and it's nice to have a cup of tea before doing a weekly shop. But, the draw back, for me, for this Costa, is the lack of cleanliness and lack of food options. Being a smaller area given than a usual Costa, I can understand the lack of storage and space for more items. So, that's explainable, but, I find it difficult to understand why, for a small area, it's hard to keep up the cleaning. Other than my own personal problems, it's a nice area, with a lovely view of the store below. Good lift too, with the ability to bring trolleys in with you. Lovely staff and I really enjoyed my cup of tea.

Often stop in this Costa for a coffee and snack before shopping. Service is sometimes quite laid back (slow). However we always get a good coffee supplied as we like it. Staff are friendly and generally give good service.

Met a friend here for lunch and it was lovely. Food and drink was as expected, staff were friendly and helpful. Only downside for me was the noise coming from the supermarket below.

This is possibly the best Costa I have ever been to. The staff are all really chatty and happy to help, the coffee is the best I've ever tasted it from the particular Costa (skinny caramel latte) generally very clean sometimes tables are left cluttered at busy times! Perfecto!

Use this Costa regularly and have always been very satisfied. Staff are always very cheerful and friendly. As we use this Costa regularly, the staff know what drinks we usually have and how we like them. Good place to relax and have a drink and snack.

I have been here several times and I have to say I am always surprised by the mess of the place, tables are never cleared I went last week and three staff members stood behind counter and almost every table was dirty. There is nothing worse than getting food and drink and having to clear your own table and wipe it clean with a baby wipe.

We popped in for a quick hot chocolate and a cake each. The hot chocolate was fine, although we were not offered any cream or marshmallows and the customer served after us was. I had a coffee cake and my husband had an almond cake. Mine was dry and stale, my husband's was very dry. I spoke to the woman serving and she apologised and threw the remaining coffee cake left for sale in the bin. She said I could have another one next time. As she didn't know me, I was not sure how that was going to happen. My local Costa is excellent and also in a Tesco, so this one was a bit of a shock. Disappointing.

Staff here are always smiling and friendly, great coffee and service! A welcome rest from the supermarket below!

Really impressed with the mocha I drank, which was the largest I've ever seen. The granola slice was delicious too. Highly recommended.

The coffee is always good in Costa but my reason for this review is to praise the staff. Especially Rob. His jovial manner was amazing and he really made my step son's day with how he was served.It was not just with us. He clearly had good relationship with all customers.Well done to him. We will be back

Only visited as I had to wait for my prescription to be dispensed. Decided to sit and have a coffee. It was quite busy but managed to find a seat. Very comfortable , clean tables, and wifi too. Coffee was delicious, the cake even more so. A bit expensive but I guess that's par for the course. Quite noisy with children screaming but you can't blame the shop for that, I think it was just that there were quite a few mums in for a meet up, it may be different normally. I would go back so it was not overly off putting. Nice staff, brought my coffee over as it was taking a little while as there was quite a queue.

I popped into tesco helston even for coffee was surprised by there Costa very clean two nice young men rob and Ben serving polite pleasant friendly very good service they carried my drinks to the table for me ( bad hands ) checked I didn't need any thing else it was good to b treated so well and pleasant will definatley go back they made my day thank you boys ur mums will b proud of you

We went here for the WiFi after doing a small holiday shop as much as anything and I'm not particularly a Costas fan but the seats were very comfortable and we both had refreshing smoothies. They were brought to our table and were absolutely delicious. The surroundings were very comfortable and relaxing, even if it was just above the Tesco store. I'd go here for a snack or a drink stop again.

After shopping in Tesco my wife and I visited Costa Coffee for a hot drink and a snack. They do Decaf Coffee for me and a good Hot Chocolate for my wife this to wash down our choice of cake.Service was good, in fact the young man was very friendly and good at his job.

The staff here are lovely, very friendly and helpful, they make the drinks well too ( shame the same can't be said about the one in town). It's much nicer here and it was a good idea to have it upstairs it's gets you out of the hustle and bustle of the store area. It also always seems cleanThe cakes and pastries always seem very fresh, the toasted sandwhiches are nice too. The coffee is always made well here, I've never had anything burnt or bitter tasting.My only gripe and it's not just here it's other branches, they should have a policy like some of the m&s coffee shops do where they ask you not to be seated until you have paid for your drinks, really frustrating when I come in on my own when it's busy and think yeah there's a few spare seats I'll sit in, only for people to then come in the queue behind me in groups of two or more and send people off to reserve seats, so I then have to end up ordering my drink to go instead.That aside I do much prefer this Costa to others around

My experience of costa has always been good but this 1 and the lovely manager and her staff were fantastic. 5☆☆☆☆☆

Shame they closed the cafe when they built the new store, Sainsburys now get the cafe trade. Coffee shop only does light snacks which is not suitable for the hungry traveller.

Good coffee, a tad pricey, but worth paying for a decent strong cup of coffee, can get busy and the waiting time can be frustratingly long.Good use of wasted space in the Tesco store though.
