Costa Coffee in Hastings

Far more expensive than the Costa just down the road! No proper cups for sit down customers. And horribly rude staff. Avoid.

As a bus driver I often pop here for a coffee, the team get my large caramel latte with extra caramel spot on everytime!

We arrived after closing as it turns out which is fine, but would expect better than one word answers. Are you still serving? ‘No’; not even tea?‘no’. Seemed unnecessarily rude.

Ask a member of staff in the morning as she was putting out chairs if they were open and her attitude was disgusting and she was so rude,long black hair, really needs to go on a customer care course.will never use again.

Barista was so rude! She was dressed still in her bathrobe and had her night mask to cover her eyes on the forehead! (I mean just normal outfit to go work lol) No smile at all ! £4,20 the cappuccino (Nero is cheaper) and when you ask for cinnamon on top instead of chocolate she forced a fake smile and said we don’t do weird stuff! Then as I was adding sugar she said “ you have to move now!” There is a lot of people who needs this kind of basic jobs at UC you should just let her sleep on her pyjamas all day!

The cappuccino is always good but I was shocked at how run down the shop has become. Dirty windows, finger prints all over the glass door. Extremely scuffed exterior paintwork. Is costa coffee having financial problems? It looks like a business that is on its way out.

Turned up 3 mins to 9 on a Sunday before I could say hello Emma barked at me to say she couldn’t take or make an order until 9 she was very rude and she and her colleagues turned their backs on me and laughed and joked about “nightmare” customers before turning round and asking for my order. I regret buying my coffee from here after being greeted so badly

Slow and indifferent service. We asked for a cortado and americano which arrived rather cool and were so weak that you could barely taste the coffee.

Atmosphere is not too good food and service are good

Just walked in to ask if open still as saw the lady with red hair was mopping up was told with a face like thunder no i am closed she was so rude would give 0 stars if I could don't know if that's how she likes to be served won't use them again

Coffee tastes like water, indifferent staff

The place to come for quick service, great coffee and tasteful pastries and sandwiches. Plenty of rom and space. Calmfors and silent.

Costa is my regular go to place for hot chocolate. Tried this branch while on holiday and can only say how excellent the hot chocolate was and how friendly and efficient the staff were

Rudest member of staff I have ever experienced in any customer service setting. Jagada or whatever her name is as couldnt get a proper look at her name badge. She has a butterfly tattoo on the back of her neck and has an accent, if you are going to employ someone with such an attitude problem make sure to keep them out the back washing dishes and not on the till/collection point. Will not be going in there again because of her. This is the Hastings Costa. Other customers were commenting also at how she is regularly this rude. Terrible customer service

Cold coffee on a few occasions, although do often serve hot coffee. Very hit and miss…coffee is ok on a good day, if your lucky!

I’ve had to give up a few times in this costa. It can be empty but the service is so slow. Today I waited 15 minutes for a takeaway flat white.

Took nearly 20 minutes to get a takeaway coffee. Wasn’t particularly busy about 2 people in front of me, but so slow. Really not a good reflection on the company. Will definitely not go again and will shop local.

I attend here very often and I am a regular. I absolutely love coming here and the staff are kind and easy going. My only issue is when sitting inside, there is always flies buzzing around without fail. It drives me mad having to keep an eye on my food and swatting at them when they fly over. It means I can’t do any work or read a book while I’m here. Please fix the fly problem

Staff are great, with normal choices of drinks. The lemon and Blueberry cake is well worth trying as it was delicious

Absolutely poor, say it's closed at 7pm but was closed at 6pm ! I'm sure Costas has the means to make sure it displays the correct information.

Rude obnoxious staff, frostinis asked for two got one had to ask for another and rolled her eyes at me, she done another begrudgingly and was two different ones when both ment to be mint choc chip. Will never use costa again, awful staff

This appears to be the only takeaway coffee place which is capable of making a latte which is not too hot and is really thick and creamy. They always give you exactly what you ask for and are friendly, polite and work fast without making you feel like an inconvenience for taking a moment to look at the menu! They are always well stocked of sugar, stirrers and napkins and the seating area is clean and bright. I'd definitely recommend this place to anyone passing through Hastings.

The staff were miserable and need customer care training. To charge 45p extra for dairy free alternative in the day and age is wrong, especially when its £2.95 for a medium cup of insipid coffee already. Pret a mange does very good coffee but I will always go to independent cafes for decent coffee that doesnt charge the earth and has service with a smile. Adios Costa, it hasnt been fun.

What a miserable woman ( short blond hair in ponytail . Don’t think I have ever ordered and paid for a coffee with just a single grunt 😩very rude .Lady serving next to her seemed lovely ( long brown hair ) Left quite staggered that anyone would think such service acceptable

awful customer service . the manager only serve those who’s having sleep with . Some one called slow cooker . Charged me for coffee . As I am waiting he made himself a cold drink . I couldn’t take my coffee had to come back after an hour . Hand me that cold coffee. Never use them again ever .

The staff do well but at rimes very busy. Needs another coffee machine. Opens early and has competition from two other well known coffee houses.

For a Costa Coffee house I have to say how run down the actual building looks. Dirty windows, hand and finger prints on the entrance door, it really wasn’t pleasing to the eye. Even the furniture downstairs looks dated. Despite this I couldn’t fault the quality of the coffee and the food nor the service.

Good if needed and not past the platform barriers either so s good to me in town

Another useful place as this is not behind the train platform barriers so anyone not traveling can go there.

Always love a Costa coffee never been disapointed

The poor young fellow tried his best but the place was as someone said, full of flies, stains & a general unkempt atmosphere. The coffee was, as usual, awful. I tried to see if I could find a coffee shop in the college next door but students only. After a day here, I realised that this experience summed up the whole town neatly! Shame. No pride anymore.

I work in Hastings so this is not a one off visit, but it will be the last, the last few times I have been in I have noticed 100s flies on the wall to the left of the till, I would describe them as tiny bar flies, but it’s awful there on the cakes and wherever you sit in the restaurant they appear, will not be going again, Costa you have to fix this, it’s disgusting. Especially with Nero, Mr Bean, and two other local coffee shops within a minute walk

Wanted a nice cool refreshing drink on a warm muggy afternoon. Went into our Costa as they do nice iced coffee. Ordered an iced cappuccino and a mint choc frostino. First of all we noticed some of the cakes had FLIES on them and realised the cakes were in an open backed cabinet. The server did not understand what I was talking about when I pointed it out to him explaining why I did not want a cake!! Secondly my iced cappuccino arrived hot!! The manager picked up on this and a replacement was made by one of the servers. Thirdly my friends frostino was put on the tray spilling over the side of the glass and making a bit of a mess. The manager again noted this and immediately took it away and made another himself.Well that was not the relaxing break we hoped for!!!

Never use it again had a problem with the till made coffee Sat there nearly 10 min expect me to pay full price for it ask for a fresh one said there was nothing wrong with it eventually made fresh still could not pay as till froze again asked me to go to a cash point with a 3 year old 2 suitcases not a happy customer

This branch of Costa Coffee in the forecourt of Hastings made a point of advertising an iced flat white. Tempting on a hot afternoon especially when it appeared to be the only iced drink available. Guess what? Not available because they were out of ice said the barista. Not as if it’s likely to have been used for any other drinks! Even more irritating having queued for some time as there was only the one barista serving. I also noticed that amongst the various cakes offered the tempting raspberry ripple (the only one advertised) was unavailable. Poor show all round!

Excellent coffee and staff work very quickly

Walk in customers, service a little slow, but it was busy. Food was average, coffee was good. Location was convenient and could observe local street activity.
