Rude staff, cold drinks when should be hot. Ordered a new hot milkshake but when I finally received it, it was Luke warm. I took it back to the counter and told them. The woman took it from me, turned her back and said absolutely nothing! When a replacement was ready I went to collect it and asked if it was my drink….”Yeah!” Was the answer!! and turned her back on me again! No apology, nothing!!!!

The place was filthy! The car park was full of Costa cups and wooden stirrers and inside was disgusting! The floors were filthy, the chairs filthy, the tables filthy! It had only been open 45 minutes so there is no way that it was clean when it opened. I had to ask for a napkin as I wasn't given one and there were none out for me to take. I couldn't finish my good and drink as I felt uncomfortable in the filth. It was that bad!! I WILL NOT be going back.

I’ve been twice in the last few days and been greeted by the same grumpy staff apart from the young Asian girl who was you and very friendly. The coffee itself was very good but the attitude wasn’t great. i know it has to be a non stop stressful environment dealing with people in a hospital but it’s also a time when you have to be professional. All in I’d say very disappointing.

I’m reviewing the new drive through that has opened near Kings Mill hospital. Firstly there place is nice, good layout and plenty of tables. Ordered a coffee and sat outside and there lies the usual problem. All the tables outside are smoking so you are subjected to the foul stench of second hand smoke. Seen a few places recently that are starting to address this. Sadly this isn’t one and would have been a great opportunity being so close to a hospital!

We all called here for coffee and cake as I visited the hospital regular It is situated just inside the main entrance Not large, but friendly and quick service nice to site down and watch the world go by and if like me you are very slow on the Legs and you need one of the electric buggy’s to give you a lift down then long corridors it’s a ideal location to flag one down I always think the price is a little over the top but the coffee is always perfect

Went for a coffee at 4pm. The front entrance was strewn with serviettes and litter plus tables still need to be cleared - looked unkempt and uncared for. Went in and as we queued I scanned for a table - the window seats were blocked off as presumably had been cleaned for the day but the free tables I could see were all piled with cups plates etc waiting to be cleared. Gave off an air of neglect so I said to my husband that I didn’t need a coffee that much so we left. Happily, found a place round the corner in the old Lloyd's bank building.. Fab place - good coffee, lovely decor and CLEAN! Sorry Mansfield Costa - much as I love your coffee, I prefer to patronise a place that looks as if the staff care about it and one that is pleasant to sit in.

Me and my daughter popped in for coffee, not impressed by the amount of dirty tables, and the queue at the counter. We only wanted a coffee each but we had to wait ages in the queue which I didn't think was that long. I had to tell the server twice my order as she wasn't really concentrating and then had to go through it again as she was putting it through the till. When the drinks were made they were very nice but just sempt to take a long time from walking into the coffee shop to actually getting our drinks.

I was absolutely shocked to meet my daughter and her friends (17 year olds) They had all ordered the same hot chocolate with cream - all charged the same ; when the drinks arrived their was only one with cream ; not wanting to cause hassle they sat down but then thought they should raise the issue; The 'man' (tall) who my friend approached was rude and quite frankly bullyish to these girls; He said they had got it wrong and as he took the order he didn't make a mistake; He was actually very abrupt and quite frankly rude; When I arrived the girls were visbably embarrassed; When I turned round to look at the gentleman he was discuusing with a colleague- when he caught me looking he hissed 'can I help you"?? I asked him not to discuss the situation unless it was the facts, he continued that it was the facts and they were wrong.; same price? same drink?....different end product??I got the girls to leave immediantley. If you wish to view any CCTV you have then you can review your staffs behavior.Shocking!

I visit this particular Costa a few times a week. Our office will often do a Costa run for the fruit ice drinks they do, the only thing is they never have any of the flavours but the pineapple one. They do have a good choice (on the menu) but it's frustrating when pretty much the whole office want a specific one and more often than not they don't have it. Other than that it's a nice Costa and I will return again in hopes of getting the flavour ice drink we want.

Forgot to review this, actually visited this before the new one in Sutton, on the Market Place. Was here with the wife, following an x-ray. I actually prefer the volunteer caff, but the wife said we should try it. Coffee was ok, the pastries we had were very good, in comparison to the coffee I had in Sutton, I would say Sutton was much better. I have been past this outlet many, many times, and invariably there are a number of tables requiring clearing and cleaning, you can see people having to sit at an uncleared table and not liking it. Seems to be undermanned. Avoid the 'high' tables, they wobble and your coffee ends up in the saucer! As per the title - Could do..........

Great coffee. Poor service. Six customers stood waiting for coffees to be made. One girl working her butt off trying to make coffees and hand food out whilst another girl just stood behind the till doing nothing, a man disappeared on his break and two other girls outside having a cigarette. This was a Monday lunchtime meal for 6 friends, and due to a cancelled walk beforehand because of the heavy rain, we arrived very early, but as our reserved table was available we were promptly seated. Excellent start, and having been given menus, ordered drinks and placed meal orders everything was fine. Starters arrived, a couple of Garlic Mushrooms with Rustic bread looked fine. My Japanese Karaage dish ( chicken pieces in spicy batter with harissa) wasn’t great, the batter whilst crispy on the outside, was soggy inside and the chicken pieces inside were very small, not breast meat but looked like thigh. The harissa was actually a harissa inspired mayo dip, very spicy but nice for it. For main course, three of us had Sea Bass fillets with crushed garlic potatoes with a wine and cheese sauce with green beans and carrots. Very nicely presented, however I’ve never had a plated meal which was so hot ( except for oven baked lasagne, fish pie etc) in particular the potatoes which were sliced and not crushed. At a guess, the plated meals had been waiting under the heated lamps on the pass for some time whilst other meals were ready. The sea bass was rather dry because of this, but copious amounts of white wine and cheese sauce provided in a gravy boat moistened the fish nicely. However, I’d much rather have a very hot meal rather than tepid or verging on cold as I experienced on more than one occasion. Our friends had a chicken and mushroom pie (thick soggy crust), a lamb and mint pie, and a plain butterflied chicken breast, all with accompanying vegetables, everything well presented. After this we waited and waited and waited, then had to shout to the bar for dessert menus half an hour after finishing main courses. Desserts weren’t great, 3 of us had a gluten free NY baked cheesecake which was very grainy and not pleasant, the mixed berries were not defrosted properly and the ice cream was bland. Others had apple and blackberry crumble and no one managed more than half of their dish, which comprised roughly 70% crumble and 30% fruit. Unfortunately not many complements were forthcoming. Again after finishing desserts we had to shout to the bar for attention for hot drinks to finish with. Coffee was nice, but the tea drinkers weren’t impressed, there was ‘just tea’ available, no varieties, and what arrived was very weak. The cardinal sin, apart from having no Sticky Toffee pudding available was that there was no interest in clearing our dessert dishes away, and these were left in front of us until we vacated the table to pay at the bar. At this time the pub wasn’t busy and staff were more interested in chatting to themselves rather than dealing with diners. Not once throughout our meal were we asked if everything was alright with our good. Maybe they were embarrassed by the about of food left uneaten on everyone’s plates. From their website and meal descriptions it looks like The Chequers is positioning itself as a Gastro pub, but it’s nowhere near to what I’d expect. It’s difficult to pin down an identity for their cuisine, having American, Chinese, Thai, German, English, Mexican, Mediterranean, Japanese, Moroccan and Italian dishes on the menu, but my suspicion is that many of the meals are bought in meals preprepared for catering. I may be wrong here, but that’s how it looks. Overall we thought it was a less than average experience which wouldn’t be difficult to improve with a bit of attention to detail, quality over quantity and better consideration from the serving staff. Oh, and the wi-if was not working 🤷🏻‍♂️

I hired out there function room July 2024, price was reasonable for what you got, I was able to provide my own food/DJ. As for the so called “staff” half of them did not even work there they were “helping out a friend” so no bar experience at all. Had to ask them to go and buy basic fruit for drinks from Asda as there was none at all. Had to explain what drinks we wanted and what was in them. They were charging us wrong every time we bought a drink, £22 for two Hugo Sprits then £16 for one. When we asked about this they had no explanation. There seemed to be no one in charge of the function, just looked like had no clue what they were doing. The bartender Emily was the one who helped the most (as she was the only one who worked there). Would not recommend to have a function here if you want it run by people who do not know what they are doing.

My wife, 2 children and visiting relatives went to your cafe today. And I was absolutely astounded by the poor service and lack of communication. We arrived at around 10:20 and was seated outside, we had our drinks order taken and breakfast order, but was told the kitchen was quite busy so to expect a slight wait… What we was not told was that the slight wait would turn into not getting our food until gone 11:40. When I got up to ask the young man who was serving how long the breakfast would be, he replied saying they stop serving breakfast at 11:30 not realising we had ordered already he said it shouldn’t be much longer (no apology given for the wait). And even then some of the food was cold, and the bacon my wife had was inedible. Will definitely not be returning
