Friendly fast service and excellent coffee. Prices becoming too expensive for frequent visits sadly

I prefer Costa to Starbucks, but then again I suppose it's entirely up to you, I think younger people prefer Starbucks they seem to do a lot more chilled 'hip' beverages and Costa is more a chilled out vibe of a place, I'm not decrepit but it's nice to go somewhere and get some peace lol, anyway since COVID my taste buds have totally changed and I'm finding a lot of coffees very bitter, however Costas latte hits the sweet spot every time, lovely taste and always pipingly hot, the food side always look nice and fresh, my son loves the millionaire shortbread, price wise it's on par with other chains so it's not surprising it can cost between 10 and 20 quid for 2 people to eat and have a drink, the staff are always pleasant if a bit young sometimes but as is life these days, almost all food and coffee shops employ younger staff, when companies say they are not aged when employing staff.... legally they are, but deep down us oldies know can't get a look in for jobs lol, and why not when we need to support our younger workers, keep up the good work and I'll keep popping in for a latte every now and then

I've been before, and on that occasion, the dining area wasn't the cleanest. This time, they were preparing to close, and seeing chairs on top of tables wasn't the most welcoming, but the young lady at the counter changed my opinion. She was so pleasant and chatty. I had a voucher for a free cake. She could have been dismissive, but she was so nice and genuine. She appeared to really enjoy her job, which is a rarity these days. Oh, and the cake she recommended was delicious too. I wish I had gotten her name. She's a credit to your business.

A good place to go if you use the metro or train station but I’ve had better drinks in other costas, not so good attention, not recommended

Nice pleasant coffee shop. Good selection of food and drink and helpful staff. Got to admit 'tho I prefer the coffee at another chain & prefer to spend my bucks there.... Just a personal preference.

Canny little Costa cafe tbh. One of the best. Food is fresh and the flat white is very nice. Staff are amazing.

Nice atmosphere & the staff are friendly enough, my only issue was when I ordered my daughter a white hot chocolate with marshmallows it looked like the marshmallows had been laying out for weeks. They weren't fresh at all.

Very busy but found a table. Staff working non stop. No toasted teacake but enjoyed the toasted pantone. 😃

We like costa, although the sunderland site could benefit from a re shuffle of seating to allow more people to sit in. The large table is in a very bad place and takes up space which cannot be used, the food as usual was great, the service was slow again because of the whole just eat options which always seem to take priority over actual customers, which is bad, people who come in should take priority, its very frustrating!!

Costa is a place, that exists. Other than that, there's really not much more to say. It's standard, is mediocre, and it does what it's supposed to do. Nothing special. The thing with mainstream High Street cafés is that they're honestly hit or miss. People go to Cafés to relax, but Costa is often packed with loud people. It's less of a Coffee Shop and more of a fast food chain. Yes the decor is nice, it's built to be cozy. But when you go and there's one seat available, and you have to shout to be heard, and when you're overwhelmed staring at the menu, trying to figure out what a frappilippyboppyoopiedoopiecchino is while being stared down expectantly by a worker who looks like they want to die ... Kind of takes away from what a Café is supposed to be in my opinion. On the other hand, if you catch Costa at a decent time, its fantastic. Nice and quiet, a variety of relatively cheap tasty drinks. It can be an amazing place to relax, or chill with friends. I actually caught up with a friend I hadn't seen in a while here, and it was one of my favourite moments of this year so far. I'd recommend the Salted Caramel Frappuccino or something like that. It was pretty good! Although I will say, the last time I went here with my girlfriend, we left after less than 30 seconds because they had no ice? Half of the menu is iced drinks? It was late morning? What? Either way, the coffee here is standard, the atmosphere is mediocre, the staff are okay. Just an all-round meh experience.

staff are slow, line is very slow and would draw a lot of people today, 3 staff members would sit there doing nothing when only 1 would be working the till, and the drinks are very average, too rich it made me feel sickly I won’t return maybe if the quality changed, and the employees worked abit harder.

I went. First thing in the morning and unfortunately could only sample the take away. I ordered a coffee that was not to the usual Costa Coffee standard. Feeling disappointed with the unfortunate news that I could not have a slice of toast sitting down, I was even more disappointed with the lack of taste to my coffee. I also noticed that the bins had not been emptied from the day before and the facilities lacked an air of cleanliness for the small shop it was. The staff could not be faulted in friendliness but could maybe redirect their spare time to the upkeep of the environment.

I have to hand it to them, Costa serve great coffee. The cost, £4.10 for a coffee and a croissant, is high, but the taste is superb.

although the current regulation day it should be table service only and wearing masks on entry . neither is enforced at this venue . the coffee and food are average

This particular Costa follows the covid rules to the letter in a professional and pleasant manner which I appreciate whole heartedly. I feel safe which allows me to enjoy my coffee whilst in there. The coffee shop and facilities are always clean and very comfortable. I would like to commend the staff who work there for their hard work and diligence in these difficult times.

me and my friend came here and as soon as we entered we were practically yelled at to go all the way to the tills. no hi, hello, how are you. and when we did go to the tills we were told to do the nhs track and trace. both of us didnt know what that was so we had to download it and set it up so we did that. they kept repeating that we had to do it (mind you there was two behind the counter, one of the floor behind us watching us do it). whilst we were trying figure out how to the track and trace the person on the tills was practically yelling at us for our orders (ended up having to buy a costa card to which we literally had no say in cos with them all saying multiple things at once). we went to go sit down with our drinks and one of the staff members came over and again told (more like yelled) us about the track and trace (it was still downloading at this point) and she just waited at the table, didnt bother offering us help even after i asked! and just kept repeating it like we were thick! finally got it done with and even after that the staff kept looking over at us like we were doing something wrong.even tho we got our drinks quick and our food, we would not go back cos of the customer service.i understand we are going through a pandemic and everyone is on edge but not once through that entire thing did we act like we werent aware of the current situation. we had masks on and we put the sanitizer on, the only thing we didnt know about was the track and trace.

Was here with daughter in law whilst shopping we had to wait a while as only so many tables available with Covid but the staff were fantastic we both had mac and cheese which was delicious and a latte

Don't ask for a white mocha, the staff insist, almost argue that they can't be made, but if you ask for a white chocolate with a shot of espresso (a white mocha) then they'll make it

Very good coffee shop just outside the Bridges shopping centre. Relaxed atmosphere and friendly staff, can get busy at times but well worth a visit.

My friends and I went here for our lunch while we were visiting Sunderland and we got the £4.95 lunch meal deal. The service in here was quick. As we walked through the door of the store the places clean and the staff were making sure the store was kept clean by cleaning up the tables. The lunch time meal deal wasn't bad as it was good way to save money. The staff in this store worked as a time since you had one doing the hot drinks, one was doing the food and the other doing the serving on the till. The coffee what I got in my meal deal was okay but it should have a bit more coffee shoots in it instead of the one coffee shoot what I could taste.

Shame they had to frost the windows over, I used to like the view

Nice place for a cappuccino as usual! It is in the city centre so great location! Helpful and friendly staff. Also great customet service. Really clean and tidy around the cafe area. Glad I can use my loyalty card and earn points too!
