Been previously to Love Lily both Roker and Herrington and always enjoyed. Today at Roker food wasn’t up to usual standard pancakes don’t seem fresh slightly colder than normal and harder on the surface with a slight chewiness. No one came to the table to ask if everything was ok. Service ok from the 2 younger members of staff both smiley and bubbly. The older blonde member of staff with tattoos and a nose ring was rude and miserable (no name badges to identify other than a description) Overall disappointed last treat of the hols, normally I don’t mind the price for the novelty and quality but today I’m a bit disgruntled at what felt like a waste of money. Lastly music too loud we could barely have a conversation?! What is that about in such a venue?! Also expecting 5 people to squeeze on a small table for 4 people is madness. No room for food or drinks?!

Two items purchased to eat out. Cake was unfortunately a little dry, though icing was fantastic-make sure you brush your teeth afterwards as there must be a tonne of sugar in there! Cookie was pretty good as well. Only utilised take away so unsure about high chairs or baby changing.

Was looking for somewhere different to get breakfast for myself and the family before we drove back home to Northampton yesterday. Me and my partner has the USA big breakfast and the kids had pancakes. The milkshakes were good. The big USA breakfast wasn’t very nice - the potatoes lacked flavour and the pancakes tasted like actual cakes which was off putting for breakfast. Couple that with the fact I now have food poisoning and spending nearly £70 on breakfast for a family of 4. I wouldn’t go back again. Steer clear unless you want food poisoning :(

Lovely friendly, helpful staff. Canny menu - bit different to our 'normal' choices. However wanted something light so plumbed for sausage breakfast bun ( although other food choices looked delicious). It was delicious and enough for us. Cake choices ? Mams Carrot and Walnut cake was really nice - my Cherry Bakewell Blondie was so cold ( which when too cold I think always restricts good flavour of food) and sadly had no taste at all. I was disappointed . Great little pot of tea though.

This was an amazing place to go. We could see a beautiful view of the seafront. There is a local car park nearby and local fish and chip shops and shopping places. I definitely recommend Love Lily as they have tasty and delicious desserts such as cakes and cookies. They are also drinks and snacks like ice tea, coffee and many different lattes. There are many different things to choose from. Plus they also do breakfast food and burgers. They also are very polite and respectful and ask if you have any allergies they need to know about .

1 star does not reflect on the staff who were lovely. It is for the very disappointing and very dry cake slices that had a very synthetic taste and a buttercream that had a strange texture. I had lemon and my mam had carrot and walnut. We had to get them to go as there wasn't any free seats. I'm wondering if we sat in we might have been given a fresh slice of cake, rather than one cut and wrapped in cellophane. First and last time I would buy cake from here. Wasted £9.00

As its a small place you can expect a wait for a table if you want to sit. This was expected, as you can't make reservations. We arrived, and waited about 5 minutes to he greeted. We're told that it would be a wait for a table, as "some people hadn't even got their food yet". We saw some groups of 2 sitting at tables for 4, which even though there were 5 of us one was a child and these would have suited. We waited approximately 40 minutes for people to leave and another 15 to be given a table. We had specifically gone as a treat for one of our party, at their request, so this is the reason we stayed. The staff were extremely laid back, almost asleep, there was no urgency to them at all. Our server was extremely hard to understand, due to their volume and mumbling. We ordered our food and drinks, and as there seemed to be a delay (from what the staff member relayed to us) we mainly ordered cake, with 1 order off the menu. Those who had the chocolate cake said it was really nice and moist. The brownie was hard but had a nice flavour, funfetti cake was a bit dry, but again nice flavour. Speciality Lattes were enjoyed very much, especially the bueno and battenburg. The prices were mainly acceptable for what you get. Costs and time to make the cakes and coffees adds up, however a child's small apple juice was £2.30. £42 for 3 pieces of cake, 1 brownie and pancakes, 2 coffees, a tea, juice and hot chocolate. Won't rush back, a rather average xperience. I didn't highlight at the time, as when asked the questions was "Is the food OK?". And yes it was OK, but place was very busy and was overly comfortable to raise the service issues.

Queue - pretty - sweet If you are someone who eats with your eyes, this would be the perfect place for you. For me taste is more important, hence the rating. Would also be a good choice if you are have a sweet tooth. We came around noon on Saturday and had to queue for about 15mins, it was really cold outside but the view of the sea was nice. Ordered the love Lily brunch set and a full biscoff pan cake set. The pan cake, their signature was ok. Nothing special I would say. The love lily was really pretty as you can see but the poach egg is cold and the bacon is hard, so if you like your egg warm maybe go for the fried or scramble egg, hopefully they do that fresh. Another irony is that the waiter has a “good vibes only” t-shirt on but her facial expression is “I don’t want to be here”. So keep your eyes on the pretty food.

I came here for a birthday breakfast after seeing this all over my Facebook page and it looking lush. However when our food came out my pancake stack was incredibly dry and stodgy and slightly undercooked in the middle (probably down to them being so big) and my mum’s eggs Benedict was stone cold and swimming in far too much sauce. I was incredibly disappointed and will not be returning, especially when we paid £30 for this mediocre at best breakfast.

My wife asked me to find somewhere nice to have breakfast on our way back home from an overnight wedding do. I found Love Lily’s on Google maps, and it fitted the bill. Parking was easy, a matter of a hundred yards or so, and 60 pence per hour is brilliant. There is an outdoor seating area but it’s not covered, and it was raining. There was a small queue, but waited about 5 minutes and we were greeted and seated. The menu is quite varied, and the drink selection is great too. We ordered our Coffees while we searched for our food. I’m dairy intolerance, and my needs were met with no problem, I did have to fill in a small questionnaire, presumably to cover them, but it’s no problem at all. We decided on the American Breakfast, a sort of traditional with pancakes. (Pancakes are fine as the milk is cooked, I just can’t have raw dairy) The food turned up and looked amazing, really well presented. My only criticism was the potatoes were only just warm, everything else was hot. The service was really good, though we had to ask for cutlery once we got our food. I would definitely come back, it’s a place where it’s a treat to go. It was spotlessly clean, friendly staff and the prices were what we expected. Thank you. Visited again, different food this time, great service, great food and drink. Took our Granddaughter and although she’s only 1 1/2, she loved her dinosaur pancakes.

I've been to Love Lily a few times and enjoyed the food. But the day I decide to do a review it was very disappointing. I usually get a USA breakfast or burger but today I went for the Love Lily breakfast and that's where it started to go wrong. It was quite when I went in. I sat down with the menu and it took a while for the server to take my order. Love Lily breakfast and a coffee. The wait was that bad I had moved my menu away from me to one side and started using my phone so they would get the hint. When I ordered it took 10 mins to get my black coffee. Nothing fancy. It wasn't one of the special drinks they make. I thought well at least my breakfast won't be long. Big mistake 20 mins later it came out. It's like they forgot about the people in the cafe and went on a mission to serve everyone waiting to be seated. People in the cafe that came in just before me were finishing up their food and paying before I got mine. When my food came I was very disappointed. I've had the USA breakfast and its been good but the Love Lily breakfast was bad. A huge amount of kale (green stuff). Tons of potatoes (over 50% of plate) a piece of bacon, one sausage a egg and a few mushrooms? The food tasted nice but it was the fact they were so stingy with everything except the potatoes. It really did look like I had a plate of potatoes. I didn't have the grilled tomato but I don't think it would make a difference. The atmosphere was also very strange. There were many mothers and babies in with there friends, which is not usually a problem, but every time they spoke it was like they were announcing it to the entire cafe like a facebook post or tweet. People were also coming in with huge dogs and at the top of their voices the mothers were shouting "There a big dog.. awww" and running over to it with their babies. Bizarre behaviour? I think the Love Lily Penshaw has effected the Roker cafe too much and it has lost its standards and service. The breakfast was not worth the money. I've had many better for less money, better service and the atmosphere was just bearable.

Friends breakfasts both came without sausage, potato was under cooked and food was only slightly warm. Latte was barely warm. I asked to swap some items and was told this was OK however, when it come to paying I was charged for the swaps. Avocado was on the turn. Customer service was terrible... Over priced and poor quality. Some staff really need training on customer service skills In addition to owners response: Unfortunately, from the owners replies to myself and others who left their reviews, she could also do with some customer service training. I think it is highly inappropriate to be passive aggressive in your replies to your customers and to always try and put the blame on them. You have several bad reviews which all state very similar things so we can't all be wrong surely. So instead of making snide remarks and trying to blame for the customer for the poor food and service, I would suggest you spend the time putting yourself and your staff on training to provide a better service and quality of food that reflects your prices

Would avoid this place. Cup of tea to drink in was advertised as a dainty tea pot, cup, saucer etc but all I got to drink in was a cardboard cup for the same price. Staff were unhelpful and upon request of using a proper cup, they just tipped the tea into a basic cup. Not the service, experience or quality I expected. If I wanted to takeaway, cardboard cup is normal, but not that those prices to sit in when it was supposed to be teapot, cup etc . We were also made to wait to be seated and were ignored for about ten minutes despite it being empty inside! This should have been a clue to leave. We entered and the young girl was rude that we hadn't continued to wait. She served us with attitude. Maybe this is why she didn't do a proper job of the tea but put it in a cardboard cup. I collected a Coronation cake for my wife last week, the cake was for a family party. When I got home and gave the cake to my wife she was shocked by the size of the cake. The image on Love Lily Instagram page I was shown was gigantic compared to what I collected. My wife was horrified by the size. Not only was the size shocking for the price, but the cake was dry. The icing was far too much around the sides and barely a scraping along the middle. The description claims to serve 27, however the cake cut a maximum of 16 small pieces. Great food and service. The only downside was the 25 min wait outside in the cold for a table. This place can go from fairly empty to full in a matter of minutes or on the time it takes to parl the car and walk up, so be aware you’ll likely have to wait. Also, having people stand queueing watching you eat can be a bit irritating, but to be fair to the staff they did remind customers to wait outside, just a shame people seem to ignore the clear signposting! Food is absolutely brilliant, very tasty. Quite pricey but well worth it in my opinion as the quality is much better than your usual beachfront cafe.

Finally managed to get in for pancakes! The stacks of pancakes are huge, easily feeds 2 adults! Indulgence to the max from the decadent hot drinks to the heavily topped pancakes. The savoury menu also looks delicious!

I think it's apparent if you have a dog you're going to be sat outside. No acknowledgement and stood in the queue for ages with those going inside when outside was empty. It was a little disappointing to say the least. The food however was vreat

My friends have been coming here for years but being a die hard Newcastle girl I left them to it. After all this time I’ve no idea why I did that to myself 😆 unbelievably good food, cakes are phenomenal. I had the American breakfast 10/10 apart from leaving like a bowling with legs because I ate too much I couldn’t fault it. Took a stuffed cookie home and best cookie I’ve had. Worth going to Sunderland for. Can’t wait to go again. 100% recommended. Atmosphere lush, staff are fantastic. Girl with tattoo sleeve served us, so helpful and friendly made it a really pleasant experience. Didn’t have to wait long for a table because we timed it right apparently but I know it’s got a rep for having a queue. Wait in the queue, it won’t be a waste. Enjoy!!!

My wife took me here for a real treat and boy did it feel like one. Great variety in lattes and I wanted to try all of the breakfasts. I had the American and wife had the Lilly's breakfast. Not many people (it was a Monday morning), the service was pretty instant and friendly. There will be a next time and I can't wait.

Grate when you go and the food is class. However absolutely no point on them being of delivery services as they just cancel the order.

If i could give a 0 i would. Me and my sister were out here. Fainted at the entrance, no staff was here to help, no first Aid. I was disgusted about this as a staff came out just to proceed to tell us our table was ready, as i was lying on the floor. Couldn't even eat my food. Staff didn't care about customers, took ages to get food afterwards. Drink was cold. Dry food. Overrated.

Rang today to order collection & was told we could order instore to takeout-pancakes. when we arrived were told that we couldn’t order take away pancakes. If they had told us that on the call we wouldn’t have had to drive there for nothing. Customer service zero.

Unfortunately I found this place overrated and overpriced. The brownie was very dry, so was my boyfriends fudge cake (assumed not fresh). We had their cookies before and they were lovely. Everything else for the price they sell them for (5/6gbp a piece) simply is not worth it.

Unsurprisingly gets very busy during weekends. I would recommend pre 10am if you can get there early. Tables a little too close together for my preference and those with anxiety may be the same. Food and service however makes up for this and I can highly recommend the American and the love lily breakfasts. Pancakes are in a league of their own and the same goes for their cakes and other baked goods.

What a great little café. Great friendly service and a great choice of cakes to enjoy with your tea or coffee. Would highly recommend this little gem by the sea.

Love Lily for me is highly overrated and overhyped, certainly not worth the hour long wait in the bitter cold at brunch/lunchtime - do yourself a favour and go back after 2:30pm when the queue has gone. From the photos the food looks amazing but in reality everything was very dry and not very tasty. The Christmas burger was ok, edible but a bit dry for my liking and quite expensive. The pancake stack was really bad and not worth the £12 price, I found them to be incredibly dry and had a sour taste. We opted for Nutella and strawberries, you get 4 huge cold dried out pancakes covered in warm hazelnut chocolate spread (definitely wasn't proper Nutella) and about 3 strawberries diced into tiny pieces. They'd be better off serving 2 in a portion and halving the price as it's impossible to eat that many on your own even if they were nice. We shared between 2 but they refused our request to serve on 2 plates and instead gave us 2 extra saucers to divide it ourselves which made it very messy and difficult to evenly distribute the toppings. Not great customer service. Service overall was quite poor, the staff seemed disorganised, inadequately trained and were very slow. The queue outside was worsened by the fact that they were sooo slow at clearing tables then even slower at seating people. We stood at the front of the queue outside looking at 4 empty tables for about 10 minutes before we got seated after queuing for an eternity. Once in and seated, staff didn't take the orders in the order that we were seated, so we ended up being the first ones in and the last to be served our food. We joined the queue at just before 12pm, didn't get in til 1pm and our food wasn't served until 2pm by which point we were starving. Definitely not somewhere you go for a 'quick bite to eat' and we definitely won't be rushing back.

The whipped large ice creams in plain cones were tasteless & in my opinion overpriced due to this. I’d not recommend it for a whipped ice cream. Save your money. There are better quality ice creams in and around for £2.50.

Food was good service only passable. Couldn't belive that the Fire Escape Route was a blocked by tables arranged by the Manager/ess. When challenged she just told us to F off which we did. Shame that a good pub was ruined by arrogant owner/manager. Hope she doesn't other premises to ruin!!!
