We waited an hour for a table so we were super hungry when we arrived and finally got a seat. I understand why they do not have a booking system but it will pleased customers. We ordered quickly and food and drinks were served fast. Staff were friendly and also super efficient. My four friends opted for savoury and I opted for the pancakes. All of the savoury dishes (full English breakfast and USA breakfast) were amazing and everyone was really pleased. Except for the pancakes. All of the pancakes were served barely warm and I felt they had been ‘reheated’. The pancake on the top was not hot at all. The pancakes were really thick and stodgy and were not light and fluffy like they should be. They were quite hard as well and clearly had been made much earlier that day. I have been in previously and really enjoyed the pancakes but I was really disappointed with my most recent experience.

Brilliant place to go for breakfast. Fantastic gluten free options which taste delicious and the staff are always very attentive to my coeliac disease and take care of cross contamination. Beautiful decor inside and a lovely trip out. It is on the slightly pricier side for breakfast but I love it every time we go. Attached are pics from a couple of visits.

This place looked fantastic. I called them to ask if they accommodated wheelchairs. 'Oh yes' they said. Do I need to book 'no just come down' Great I'm on my way............Imagine my surprise when I got there that the 1(yes1) table that could accommodate us was taken. I did say to the proprietor. I phoned and then repeated what I'd said it had taken us 20 minutes to get there. I asked if I could book. Well we don't take bookings !!!!!! If you are wheelchair bound and want to eat in don't go here.To add insult to injury they weren't even apologeticDisgraceful behaviour

We chose Milkway Browine and partner had Choc Galaxy Brownie was absolutely amazingly tasty and so is the hot chocolate to take out. There is a 20min wait for the hot chocolate needs to be improved, I know I manage to get one of those delicious brownies but last year, the queues were so long and waiting times just needs to improve!! Love Lily seems to be popular in Sunderland :) 2 coffee machines and 2 baristas is ideal to cut the waiting times and everyone would be happy and no queues :) would definitely would be back whilst in Sunderland again :)

Sorry love Lilly but after a number of good visits I don’t think we will be rushing back…I find some of the staff far from welcoming, our prior visit there was no tables available so myself and my to young kids decided to sit outside until we had a offer of a table inside,,the offer never came so we ended having our breakfast outside, not great in late October. This weeks visit wasn’t great either, the brunch was very average, even dry and the staff seem rushed and blunt.Seating arrangements could be better also,if the outside space was covered and patio heated then the place might be a lot better.

We called into here while on a five day break in Sunderland, we walked from The Hilton in Sunderland along the river path to Roker Beach and Lighthouse. We spotted the huge queue for lunch, this told us something must be good.. Good is not how we would describe this place. Outstanding, exceptional, superb, delectable, yummy, scrumptious, tasty, perfection on a plate is just a brief description. We both had ‘Billy Beef’ this is pulled beef on sour dough bread, with poached eggs and hollandaise sauce… Brilliant highly recommended..

Having visited previously to support a local business I visited yesterday with my daughters. We ordered pancakes to be told ‘ We haven’t got time to cook them we are too busy’!Never have I ever known a cafe/tea room/restaurant to refuse to serve something on the menu due to being too busy! We left and took our custom elsewhere to find that less than 30 mins later Love Lily had advertised on their social media site for takeaways & walk ins including pancakes ironically. So obviously not too busy to be on Facebook. When I questioned this on the post I was told social media is not updated from the tea room and it states during busy times brunch cannot be served and apparently pancakes are part of their brunch menu, which is not made clear at all. Other people queried the response from Love Lily too which was then responded to by a member of staff in a rude passive aggressive tone just proving that customer service is really not their thing at all.I just wish I’d read the negative reviews on Trip Advisor previous to wasting my afternoon, and this is one local business that doesn’t deserve loyal customer support unless it ups it’s game, there are plenty of other establishments in the area with better service and prices.Love Lily is certainly one to avoid.

We have had a record month at work so I wanted to organise a reward for everyone for their efforts. I called Love Lily on Monday to see if they would deliver on the Friday. They said they had stopped delivering but I could place an order and collect.I rang on Thursday and was told I could not order a day in advance and had to order at 9.00AM on Friday. I tried ringing from 9.00AM until 10.00 but the line was engaged.I then drove through to their premises to place the order with them and to collect later only to be told to go back and just to keep trying to ring. They would not accept my order even though I was there! This was a large order and I have bought from them before. I was prepared to travel there twice in order to reward my staff but to be told I couldn't place an order verbally was the last straw.I will not be using or recommending them again.

Went for a walk with family on Sunday afternoon, we had originally planned to order pancakes but could not get through to at all! We thought the phone had been taken off the hook but found out later that they only have one phone line. I feel like a simple Instagram/Facebook post to let everyone know how busy it was would have been helpful. After an hour of trying we finally got through but by this point the pancakes had finished so we ended up getting 2 Nutella cookies and a slice of Lotus cake along with 3 Kinder hot chocolates, it came to something like £24 Granted the hot chocolates come with cream and decoration but they were £4.20 each, one of them we requested no cream on and it it was still full price even though no cream and no kinder pieces. Hot chocolates were okay but everyone agreed they were massively over priced for what you get- look fancy but taste average.Sister didn’t really enjoy her cookie and my cake was okay but I have had nicer ones made by friends. I used to be a big fan of Love Lily but I feel like they’re trying to do too much all at once. Think better communication is needed to customers and, in my opinion, the prices need looking at- most things seem very overpriced- it would cost a small fortune to take a family out for a visit.

I have been wanting to visit this establishment for the longes time and while I was walking across the beach I thought why not go and have a look and maybe order somehting so I checked online to see the times and it said it was open and didn’t close till 5. I then walked in at half 4 as online it said that it closed at 5. All I wanted was a little cake for myself. I walked in after reading the signs on the front making sure I was alright to go in. Which said to order/ collect please come in. So I walked in and before I even stepped 2 steps the women at the register loudly shouted we are closed. Looking at my phone confused I just thought alright then. I said oh sorry and turned around about to walk out. Then I heard the women who previously told me it was closed shout loudly “What the (f word)” I was shocked and disappointed to say the least.

Only disappointing thing to happen on our 30m wait 3 of us were 2nd in queue to 2 people waitress came out seated the 2 people from front at a 4 seat table wasting 2 seats, within a minute. A 2 seater table was available waitress came out and asked the 2 people behind us in queue to have that table leaving us standing another 15min point being she could of asked 1st couple to sit at two seater freeing up the 4 seater for the three of us so if there’s more than two of you. You could end up further down the queue. If staff could use a little bit of initiative disappointment may not happen. Not that good to want to return. Prices-professional. Staff-amauters.

Now as we don't live local ( a good 50 minute drive) and we know how popular the cafe is we set off mega early to be the furst in the queue for breakfast as a traat for my Little boy returning to school this week. We were seated fast and handed menus straight away - ordered and drinks came very fast followed by our breakfast abd pancakes to share. This is only the second time we have been since last December and id say due to the changes the tearoom is managed really well. I understand there are queues and wait times but if you understand and know this maybe try plan it a bit better and get there early doors or be prepared to wait. I said this the first time of our visit but I do believe the food is NOT style over substance - you can telltale quality of food and yea its pretty so double bonus but I think they have a simplified menu with enough variety to maintain the quality of food they serve with the main focus being on the pancakes. I believe the cost is justified also - please remember raw ingredients costs - the staff who make the food and the business they are trying to run . I appreciate its not everyone's cup of tea and everyone is allowed their opinion but we have had a lovely experience and wish to praise the business

Firstly I find it a bit puzzling that this place does not accept reservations considering it is only small. The day we visited we queued for 1hr 30 mins. Surely it would be better to have 30 min reservation slots for the day than have a large queue and the staff having to try and configure where to put groups of people especially when only 1 table caters for people with a baby in a pram however the queue was full of people with prams. One of the girls from the cafe came out to ask how many of us there was - there was 6 of us and a pram. We were told that we would have to be seated separately and not at the 6 seater table as only 1 table in the cafe allows a pram next to it. I asked if there was anywhere else to place the pram instead so that we could be seated sooner and together instead. I was told that there was somewhere to place it however we would still be unable to sit at the table that seats six as there would not be enough room at the table if I was holding my baby (who is tiny and 5 weeks old) and there was a risk of spillages. Also a pram is not allowed to be placed next to this table. We didn’t however challenge this and instead a table of 2 came up which me, my son and newborn were seated at. My friends were seated later at a table of 4 which was not close enough to really have a conversation with them. Not ideal when you’ve come out for a catch up. The place however is busy so I appreciate that not everyone can be seated together. Also to note once inside the 6 seater table had ample room and we would of all definitely fit at it with my baby. However, what surprised me was that once we had been seated a further group of 6 with a double pram (2 babies) were then seated at the table of 6! A table that we had been told we would be unable to have the pram next to and we were also told we would be unable to sit with a baby at however now a pram larger than my own and with 2 babies instead of the 1 had been allowed at. Seems that rules are able to be bent when suited. I don’t think I would return as long as this place does not accept reservations and is as poorly organised.

Completely shocked at today’s service. Visit love lily every weekend for takeout. Called at 10am, told no phone orders due to being busy but I could queue outside if I wanted takeaway (I confirmed this with the member of staff on the phone - despite what the manager argues, as my daughters scared to sit in anywhere) drove from Durham, queued for 45 minutes and noticed they updated their Instagram 6 minutes earlier stating no takeouts! Ridiculous new rule that you can’t hold your own baby unless you’re sat on a particular table. We were waiting outside for 45 minute before a member of staff came out and told us that we would be waiting another 45 minutes as we’d only be allowed to sit at a particular table so would have to wait until that is available even after I explained I would happily take my car seat and pram back to the car as I’m aware there is limited space♀️. Not sure how somebody can tell a mother where and when she’s allowed to hold her own baby. Apparently the new rule is due to what the fire marshal had instructed and that the seats weren’t sturdy enough for a person and a baby but surely a baby being in their mother’s arms is safer if there were to be a fire and evacuation rather then them being stuck in a car seat? When we eventually got inside, two tables became available. One that I was allowed to sit with my child and one I wasn't. The staff member gave the person in front of us the table I was allowed to sit on and then said we’d have to wait a bit longer for a suitable table and gave the person behind us the table I couldn’t sit on. Really need to work out the logistics of the new rule in situations like this. Me and my friends often come to Love Lilly as a meeting place with our babies but this new rule has definitely put us off coming back! Pancakes are lovely but not a baby friendly place at all ♀️!

First visit. Queued outside for 15 minutes before a staff member acknowledged us, then told 45 minutes for a 4 seat table. Waited as it was a birthday celebration and we'd driven a long way for the visit. Seated outside and then told some of the menu was not available and the waiting time for pancakes could be up to 1 hour. Maybe a notification in window to let people waiting know what is sold out as to avoid disappointment after such a long wait. A few couples joined the queue after us and were seated immediately. I thought maybe 2 tables could have been moved together to speed up service as other larger groups were stood inside blocking doorway where waitress was bringing food to outside diners. No bookings taken, walk in only. If sitting outside you order and pay at counter, inside diners get table service. I placed an order stating I had food allergies and received my order about 20 minutes later. My gluten free scone and portion of dairy free spread arrived, I'd used half of the spread when I realised it had a lot of dark looking bread crumbs near bottom of pot, obviously from the main supply that is being used on all bread in preparation area, cross contamination worries me. Others in my party ordered soup and pancakes and received all food together. As we were sat outside (our choice) pancakes were cold and there was a hair inside one. We hadn't read previous reviews, didn't give feed back to staff as wasn't anyone available to speak to, our previous queries not responded to in a nice manner due to staff rushing around serving tables.

Terrible service, staff are rude, like warm drinks and adequate food. I wish I had read the reviews before I went. Having watched love lillys business grow and become so popular we wanted to support them and made the 40 minute journey for pancakes. After waiting 45 minutes outside in the queue a young girl with dark hair and glasses came outside to ask how many people was with each party to arrange seating. She told us it would be a 30 minute wait for a table ans made us feel like an inconvenience for still wanting to wait. However I was horrified when the party in front and behind were told they would have to wait more than 45 minutes because they had babies, and the young girl began to argue about the seating arrangements. It's disappointing the business sees children as such an inconvenience and doesn't accommodate families. The experience didn't improve as all the staff were rude, the cafe was ramped and noisy, and the food, while pretty enough, was adequate at best. Hot drinks were luke warm which wasnt acknowledged never mind addressed. NO APOLOGY! The service was incredibly slow so I asked if my pancakes would be long. The girl at the counter said nothing and disappeared into the kitchen before shouting out that they're ready now. I still wanted my cold hot chocolate to be addressed so she shouted to a colleague to "deal with me". This was very embarrassing while standing in the middle of the cafe. People were waiting a long time after finishing drinks and food to ask for their bill. This may be the relaxing vibe however when people are waiting over one hour outside its time to think about streamlining ordering and payment processes. Good customer service would go a long way in improving the experience.

The food is absolutely amazing, especially the pancakes, and the aesthetic pastel theme is consistent. Even the savoury food is very tasty and well worth the money that you pay. However there is a small space to sit and the wait can be very long. It would be much betterif the space could be expanded as sometimes you are very close to the people around you and can almost feel like you are intruding on their conversation.

There were some tables for two people available but we were a party of 3 so we ended up waiting 30 minutes for a free table. I ordered the Kinderella pancakes and a fresh orange juice. These were freshly made and tasted amazing but I couldn’t manage to finish them all. I also ordered a Creme egg brownie bomb to take away as well. My friends ordered the breakfast and soup which both looked really nice. We only ended up spending an hour there as there was still a queue of people waiting to get in but the staff were very friendly and accommodating. Overall I spent £13 but it was well worth it. So today me, a friend and some family members went for breakfast at love lily, there was a long wait of 45 minutes in which we had to stand outside, to get served we decided to take a seat on the tables outside in order to get food sooner. I ordered the breakfast and when it was brought to my table, a man who had been sitting inside came out and spoke to the waiter and then spoke to me and told me that the waiter had just dropped the sausage on my plate on the floor and then put it back on the plate and brought it out to serve me with it. At which point the waiter looked uncomfortable and worried and took my plate away, however for about 10 minutes the situation was ignored. No one came out to apologise, which I think the manager in that day should have. They continued to serve people inside, this is when my friends brother in law decided to go inside to tell them that it was unacceptable, and hadn’t been dealt with correctly, he was polite about it as well. The manager on shift walked into the kitchen crying saying she couldn’t cope, and left the situation. A few minutes later the original waiter came out with a fresh plate and proceeding to tell me that the situation had been blown out of proportion by the man that told me, and that it in fact it hadn’t been dropped on the floor.. it had fallen off the plate and he ‘caught’ it in his hand and ‘wiped it with blue roll’, to which I stated it still shouldn’t of been served. We requested a refund which we were given but a decent formal apology wasn’t given. And I’d like to point out, hadn’t that man told me what he seen, I would have been served with a sausage that either went on floor or had been in the waiters hand and cleaned with blue role.Mistakes happen and that’s okay but the way the situation was dealt with wasn’t good, someone should of been straight out to apologise. I’ll certainly think twice about going back.

Popular to contrary statement, pancakes were served to other people the entire time we were there. I settled for a cheesecake. What I did not expect, was an eyelash as a dressing (see attached). Visited between Christmas and New Year. We had a small 10-15 minute wait as the place was packed, something you may wish to consider if you are arriving by car as you pay by the hour. Our party of four all chose the pancakes of which the portions are huge. Although we didn't try anything else the other items we saw brought out looked very tasty and the cakes in the cabinet looked to die for. They also serve alcohol and dogs are catered for so if you are walking your dog along Roker there is no excuse to not pop in. If you are short on time they also have a takeaway service available. Some reviews on here have talked about the service or lack of but from the moment we stepped foot in the door the welcoming was very friendly and the service was excellent.

Visited for breakfast on a Sunday morning. Waited 20 minutes for a seat which was fine as it is only a small cafe. Waitress knew a family that were seated after us so served them first then continued to have a conversation with them for ten minutes while we were waiting for our order to be taken. The other 2 staff were standing behind the counter on their phones. Order was finally taken. When our breakfast arrived 2 of the party had theirs and the other 2 waited around 5 minutes for theirs to arrive. By this time the other 2 had finished theirs.

Absolutely love it here, so much so we came back twice in a week. It was so good that my cousin travelled all the way from Australia for a visit! We had the Eggs Benedict, which was divine, and the Vegetarian Christmas sandwich that my cousin now wants to recreate in Australia for Christmas dinner! The cakes were amazing too, we couldn’t say no on either visit. Service was really good, worth a little queuing for.

Visited here a couple weeks ago and was very satisfied. We got there for 10.30 and it was busy but were seated straight away. I ordered the biscoff pancakes and they were tremendous, although I can see why some people may find them sickly. Overall I had a good experience and the staff seemed friendly. Will be coming back.

Myself and husband went here with our baby twins for rare breakfast treat. We didnt take a pram, they were in their car seats. When we got there we waited as per the sign in a very small space to be seated. The sign also requests that prams be left outside, so bare this in mind if you go during cold or wet weather. No one came to us, instead someone just shouted over the counter for the whole room to hear to ask us if it was for the two of us and our babies, and despite there being two tables of two available next to each other, we were told that because of our babies we would have to wait 'about 30 minutes.' No effort was made to try and accommodate us at all when we clearly could have been, I was speechless and had they come over to talk to us I would have suggested how we could manage, but I was not prepared to do this from one side of the room to another, i was mortified. Two couples came after us, yet again were shouted to from over the counter, and given those empty tables. By this point we decided to try and wait outside as the not so subtle side glances from staff behind the counter made us feel as though we were very much in the way. My husband requested they let us know when a table was available, why we were still giving them a chance by this point I don't know, we were too tired to make a plan b I think, however it was too cold outside to wait with our babies so we went next door to the scullery where the service went from one extreme to another and we had a fantastic experience.

What a fantastic little place, I popped in for a coffee while waiting for meeting nearby and I must say I can’t wait to go back as the food and cakes looked amazing. My latte was lovely and the too girls working were very polite and I was served quickly. My only issue is what to order when I go back as everything looks delicious.

I'd seen all the rave for Love Lily on Instagram, so we had to try it! It's small and very popular, expect to wait for a table when you arrive. Really nice coffee and tea, my partner had the rosti which he loved and I went for the signature Funfetti pancakes. I don't think I even managed half of it, they are very sickly, even for someone like me who has a massive sweet-tooth. They were amazing though!

Very disappointed when we arrived to a big sign on the door asking people to leave there prams outside on the pavement or in the seating area. We thought this was so wrong our little girl is two month old and not big enough for a high chair so what do they suppose we do with her whilst we eat or drink ?. Staff could hear myself, my partner and my mam talking at the door about the situation and just avoided eye contact. God knows where they are going to put the prams when the weather is bad !!! Anyway went next door to the scullery and the pram was right next to our table and the breakfasts and drinks were superb so if you have a pram walk straight past love lillys as your not welcome !!!!

Ok though a little tight for wheelchairs children welcome. Decor is ok but unimaginative- clean modern Toilets clean The soup was nice and different pea and mint but the cakes were disappointingly overpriced and dry. The milkshakes and pancakes however were very good

Visited midweek for brunch having heard good things. Ordered the brunch rosti and some pancakes. They took an age to come (just after we ordered I heard one of the staff tell someone else there was a 30min wait on pancakes, but we hadn't been told that), but when it did come it was pretty good! The pancakes were huge, as other people have noted! Probably a bit too much considering how rich it was, I noticed a few others leaving some as well. The brunch rosti was tasty - although for me the portion was a bit small I thought, for the price. Coffees were good and came quickly, which is good. Overall it was good and I think i would come back if i was in the area but probably wouldn't travel specially.

Well this is the 2nd time I've visited. 1st time we asked for a refund and left after waiting 20 mins for 2 iced coffees that they couldn't make as they had no ice! Gave them a 2nd chance and waited over 30 mins again for 1 iced coffee, 2 lattes and 3 cakes! Had to remind them we were waiting. No apology. Lots of orders were placed and served after ours while we waited. To top it off Iced Coffee was awful! Definitely won't be back and will stick to Snow Goose in future for awesome iced coffees!

Waited an hour for some pancakes, and weren’t informed of this wait on ordering. Staff seemed nice enough, location was gorgeous, and the food was lovely, but definitely not an hour’s worth of wait. It’s a gorgeous tea room, but they definitely need to look at their waiting times at busy periods, or atleast inform customers if there’s going to be a wait of 25mins or over. I would go back at a quieter time. But this definitely isn’t somewhere you want to be going if you’re pushed for time, or have any young kids with you on a weekend.

Me and a friend arrived as they were opening, we were welcomed in and given time to decide on what to have. The sun was shining and I was debating which cold drink to have, to my surprise the waitress recommended iced tea which I hadn’t noticed was on the menu, it was perfect! We both had breakfast, the place soon got busy but the staff were friendly and attentive. Fabulous, beautiful place.

Popped over to Roker Beach for an hour then decided to call in Love Lilys for a hot drink before going home. Upon arrival at 4pm we were informed that they shut at 5pm which we already knew as we had checked this out on the website. The table we were put at was dirty. It was as if we were an inconvience as the staff had cleaned the other tables ready for finishing. Bad first impression and we were disappointed and felt we needed to rush our tea and go. Cup cakes are very expensive. Tea was nice though. Will think twice about going again.
