Costa in Sunderland

Went in a Good Friday. All members of staff were watching me struggle with tray of food and drinks. Didn’t care to help. The guy who works there but wasn’t at work was reading out the Google reviews about the place! It was entertainment! 4 of them think it was amusing. Seriously save your breath they are all morons especially him. Don’t think Costa care tho🤷‍♂️lol

The staff are always friendly and welcoming and the service quick.

Shout out to the staff who were run off their feet. Still managed to be friendly and smiley.

I love Costa coffee anywhere but the staff in this branch are simply lovely! I don't like the long 'corridor like' cafe area but that is what the unit is like.

The rudest staff I’ve ever seen on costa coffee’s. The guy called Nathan was very angry on me that I was busy on my phone and not answering him where is I was waiting for 5 minutes there and no one was serving me and I just was waiting to be served. Then he turned up and said do you want to be served or you want to leave?? I was like what? Why? I mean??? Absolutely disappointing.

Great place, great staff and great coffee

This Costa is definitely one of my favourites. The only issue is the doors they need to be self closing! Save me getting up to close them after people all the time. Its like a wind tunnel when they're left open!

It was closing time at 5:45 so didn't have much time to sit in and staff never smiles

Popped in for a festive flavoured drink, got two, & two cakes, cost me £12,, no wonder Greggs is so popular, if you just lowered your prices slightly, you would probably get more custom, NOT that this will stop me going in, just not as often,

Nice to find a coffee shop that is actually open after half past three. The staff here are very pleasant and helpful; a credit to the company and I have to say, a refreshing change these days. The cafe has comfortable seating, which makes your experience much better. The coffee is reasonable. I always have mine in a takeaway cup, as I detest the soup bowls that they normally serve it in. The entrance to the rear, has quite a steep decent from the car park and the toilets to the rear, need to be open. Overall, a great to sit and enjoy a cuppa, though the food prices are a bit on the high side.

Specifically a delivery review, ordered hot foot and hot drink, waited over an hour for delivery. What is dissapointing is the store is a few minutes drive away and the food and drink arrived very cold, so the order must have been put together and left standing for a while but still sent this anyway. Won't be ordering again sadly.

I always come here and even whilst the promotion was going on i still got my lovely dose of friendly chat from the wonderful girls here, the staff are a credit to this store, mel Jess Emma and the other staff(sorry don’t know your names) are an amazing team and really have handled everything amazingly during these busy days and always for that matter

Uber Eats advised delivery available in 20 mins. I went through process of making an order for six people. When completed order I got a message saying I live too far from restaurant to deliver??? I live 900 metres from Costa. So don't waste your time trying to order unless you live next door. Really stupid to allow me to attempt to order something I was never going to get.

Regular coffee shop staff could be more welcoming but there busy I guess.

Ordered from here via Uber Eats and was very impressed with timings, delivery, and quality of the food. The staff here word really hard to make the shop the best it can be.

A very poor example of the Coffee Shop chain. Staff ignorant, toilets filthy, coffee poor, toast crap, atmosphere cold. This place needs a good Manager to get the bone idle staff to buck their ideas up. Not a single sign of porridge at 11am in the morning. Avoid at all costs.

Called in as cold day while shopping in Houghton, always a nice welcome Costa with clear tables and nice cosy environment, the service is very good and select of snack and cakes very good

Foul tasting slop that costs £3 a cup !!.. The cafe is soulless and could do with a clean. On the plus side the place was warm.

I visited costa two weeks ago on Saturday and after standing in a queue getting my sandwiches I was told by a young member of staff that they had no coffee which I was amazed by.i called back today and unbelievably I was told that because of a broken down dishwasher they had no cups so they gave us paper cups but charged normal prices of which the coffee didn’t taste as good and it was very difficult to drink from these as I have bad hands.i can’t imagine us ever going back to this establishment

Outside seating area is substandard, cold, wet, dirty, uneven, steps and NOT dog friendly. It feels like they DON'T want non smoking dog owners as part of their client demographic. Plenty of other places do, Costa your loss.

This bad boy gives Terry’s chocolate orange a run for its money... Taking my first sip was by far the best bit, the way the orange punches you in the mouth followed by the smooth, velvet like chocolate taste! Chantelle reccomended this little beauty and wow, she delivered! Not only did I receive the best hot chocolate of my life but it was also complimented with a gooey marshmallow which topped off my experience entirely. If I were to rate this product it would be 12/10, this is due to the customer service I received and the fact that all I can taste for 3 days after is orange. Banging.

Hands down THE best slice of toast I have ever had. A very soft yet crispy surface, complimented with a brittle yet filling crust. The butter was by far one of the best components to this toast, slightly salted and overly enjoyable. If you haven’t had toast from Costa at Houghton-le-Spring then you need to try it, it will tatelise your taste buds and fill the ‘homely’ hole of fresh, soft and buttered breakfast toast!

The staff are friendly and helpful, perhaps a little more laid back than some Costas, which is a good thing in my book. They also do lots of charity fundraising. The store is cosy and comfortable with a variety of types of seating to suit different tastes and needs. It supplies all the standard Costa fayre.

The outlet in houghton le Spring is a lovely coffee place that myself and partner drink in regularly but have to say the service on Sunday was brilliant the shop was clean and the young guy was constantly going round and clearing tables straight away he was efficient and very welcoming the blond girl working who has tatts on her arm is lovely chatty friendly made people feel at home really try this place you won’t regret it

Love costa coffee and now there’s one local I’m in heaven / even have my loyalty card and their cakes are delicious.

Dropped in after work (as usual) for my Costa coffee. Best thing they’ve brought to Houghton is this Costa. Place and toilets are very clean and staff are all very friendly. Abbey served me today. She made the perfect coffee and is very pleasant and professional. An overall enjoyable experience.

The service was pathetic, only one person serving waited over half an hour to be served luckily I was waiting for a business associate arriving other wise I would have gone else where

Number one the hot chocolate came with three marshmallows for the price of 45p and that is not great! number two the blueberry muffin came with gooey jam in it ! And the price is way to expensive ! The good thing was the seating is comfy and cozy ! Thank you !

Perfectly pleasant and professional. All the staff are professional and pleasant to talk to. I would highly recommend this place for other people to visit this establishment. However, this is just my personal opinion. It is beneficial to experience a place for yourself though, as nothing is better than personal experience.

A weekend cuppa and cake in a really busy and deceptively small Costa cafe - not many places to sit - kids everywhere - long queues - quite expensive considering where it is - luke warm hot chocolate - but (& it's a big but) really love the taste of their coffee 3/5.

I live in Houghton and never had occasion to pop in until today for coffee with a friend.
