Long queues. Extremely slow service. Long wating times. Coffee is ok, slighlty burnt. Pastries taste like bread. No Dine in cups or plates.

Costa management should be ashamed of short staffing such a busy location. It is really unfair on the staff who are there. No criticism of the staff, but working there must be very stressful due to the queues and (understandable?) impatience of the customers.

Located within the Royal Surrey, I was thoroughly disappointed with the service and cleanliness. The staff were unfriendly, which set the tone for the entire experience. I waited a staggering twenty minutes (and no, this is not an exaggeration) for two cappuccinos while one of the staff members was being trained. During this time, there was no apology or acknowledgment of the delay. The worst part? After paying £8 and waiting for what felt like an eternity, the cappuccinos were absolutely disgusting. To top it all off, the coffee station where you get sugars and other essentials was filthy. It was evident that no one had bothered to wipe it down the entire day. Considering that this place is located in a hospital lobby, you would think hygiene would be a priority. Unfortunately, that was far from the case. The staff seemed to be all young adults with no manager in sight, and the lack of oversight was glaring. To put it bluntly, this was hell on earth. I won’t be returning, and I strongly advise others to avoid this place as well

Appalling service. Waited 15 min for my drinks and they weren’t even busy, and was served were watery frappes. They serve everyone else in the queue to batch drinks.

Appalling service rude gent on the till totally unorganised not once while waiting did any customer get a please or a thank you for any member of staff . Come on Costa for the prices you charge you can train your employees to at the very least smile any use common courtesy

10am / 19th April. I ordered the promotional deal for a discounted coffee and croissant before 11am, which was advertised on both the illuminated screens and on cards around the till. I was told by the manager that I couldn’t have the discounted promotional offer because they couldn’t enter it into the till. I hate to be a Karen about this, but it’s not ok to blatantly advertise something to customers that they can’t deliver. The manger’s response was that she couldn’t change the screen…… but the cards (which could be removed) were still up. It didn’t really feel like she’d tried very hard to sort it out and that it was just easier to tell customers they couldn’t have it. It’s not the £1.50 saving, it’s the principle.

When going to the hospital. I always look forward to a coffee on the way out staff always coping with long queues but always give a good service

Dreadful bacon roll and the coffee is appalling, who are Costa kidding?

Went for coffee at the Royal Surrey hospital and the staff were so friendly and very helpful. The coffee was really good. 👌

Appalling customer service. This Costa boasts three big coffee machines but only one was in use, with a single barista making coffee. Lengthy queue to order, massive wait for coffee to be made, zero charm from staff. If this wasn’t the only coffee shop available, they would quite rightly go bust.

Shambles. Every coffee is a latte, doesn't matter what you order. They don't use the correct size cup for a flat white. Chaotic ordering process that turns into a free for all. Staff generally rude.

Was given a hard like a rock inedible croissant. Came back to tell them and before I finished they said… the almond ones, right? Yes everyone is saying the same… sorry! No refund, no substitution, nothing. Very poor.

Expensive, nearly £5 for a large coffee, slow service, waiting 14mins for one coffee !!!! Rather get a cold drink from M&S next door.

Never buy the Vegan Ham and Cheeze. It is the most disgusting food product I have ever bought. Gave me terrible heartburn. Costa should be taken to court for selling such poison

The staff are slow and unfriendly (this is not the first time recently). They had no tea (an old lady said this is the 4th day they’ve had none so she has been bringing her own) despite being immediately next to an M&S and a Tesco where they could get some easily enough! And the coffee tasted so bad we left it half drunk. Would recommend avoiding them!

Very busy right in the reception area. Constant flow of people in and out. Staff were very friendly.

It's a coffee shop, sells coffee. It's a bit expensive but when one needs a cup of Joe and it's the only place open it's wonderful.

They have brought me back from the brink of madness and put life back into me. Imagine going in sleep deprived and hangry, and you ask for a croissant and a large caramel latte with soya, and ask to have the latte cooler to drink immediately. It has hit the spot and I'm extremely happy now. And being 6:30am and waiting for them to open they were very pleasant and smiled at me instead of the stink eye you can get from waiting for a coffee shop to open. Very friendly service.

Excellent experience as usual in this small but efficient costa of Royal Surrey County Hospital.

Set inside the main entrance of the hospital, the team are brilliant, especially Libby , always manages to remember your drink,the team are always friendly and wish all their customer a good day.

Costa Royal Surrey. What a transient coffee shop. So many comings and goings and the Hart of the exhausted NHS grabbing a coffee en route to help us all out. Costa always good coffee and a Muffin or a cake to follow. Keep it up with the good service.

I wait for 20 minutes to get my free coffee rewards then then the staff says that the app is not working....

Woefully understaffed with long wait to get food, drink and pay. At weekends it appears to be the only place for the public (visitors) to buy food and drink with a loved one from the wards yet with only 1 or 2 staff on duty and half the seating are blocked off, most of your one hour visitor slot is squandered hanging around waiting to order, pay and find a seat. Also considering they have a monopoly, prices are somewhat high as are the hospital parking charges

Staff rude waited 30 minutes for 2 coffees And still didn't make them so went out empty handed.

I am appalled that just a few months ago people were clapping for the NHS and yet I watched a surgeon, to whom I had given my spot in the queue, having to wait for 20 minutes to get coffees for himself and his colleagues. What happened to the "let's appreciate our NHS and the doctors and nurses"? When I mentioned to the manager that they should priorities our front line NHS staff she said that many would disagree with me. I doubt that is true and would urge the Costa Coffee Senior Management to make the doctors and nurses a priority. Apart from anything else they are your repeat business customers!

Really disappointing to see the attitude of one of the male staff on duty today (9 August) at Royal Surrey Hospital, when an elderly gentleman wanted to pay for some food he was taking away, only to be rudely told that “they were closed “. Despite trying to explain, he was refused service. I wonder if those items will be sold as fresh tomorrow?? Another lady had her payment refused because she was paying cash. Customer service is the foundation for any successful business.

This costa is situated in the RSCH. Always extremely busy and noise as used by staff, visitors and patients. Easy acess for wheelchairs but could do with some extra staff

I was at Costa coffee after an appointment today and I’m rating 1 star due to the fact that I asked for a decaf coffee as I have a health issue that I can’t have caffeine. Half an hour after having my coffee while driving home I started getting symptoms as if Iv just had caffeine. I think no matter how busy or loud it is they should make sure they listen very well as I will be unwell for at least 24hrs, any other patients with worse heart problems than myself could have more serious problems. So to say I’m unhappy right now is an understatement!

It's great to see good eating facilities at a hospital (always wonder why this isn't standard). The drinks/food were typical good Costa standard but the service was very slow. Had to wait too long just to pay even though we weren't even getting a hot drink. There were a lot of people that looked fed up waiting for their hot drinks and I noticed they were making mistake after mistake with the orders. Staff clearly need more training

Costa coffee offers a range of quality hot drinks and some deserts to go with it for a reasonable price. It also offers some snacks like paninis and sandwiches.

Went to the Costa coffee in the Royal Surrey hospital. The staff in there are really nice. Have been there several times whilst visiting my mother in hospital and every time it has been a pleasure.

Have been going to Costa coffee at st Luke's for the past week as I am in hospital . Service so slow, coffee tepid and staff just talk amoungnst them selves laughing and joking . More attention to detail might make it a better experience . Caramel latte the worst I've ever had .

Great coffee but mega slow. A busy venue like this should have at least two baristers making the drinks.

Every time i come in to Costa in RSCH, I always ask for an extra hot Lattè, and when I get it, I said "I asked for and extra hot Lattè", The bald Polish guy well I think he's polish! Lol, Said it is hot its at 160°, so i took the lid off and stuck my finger in it and left it in their! So I said "Is that extra hot then? If the customer wants a hot coffee, then they should be able to get one, not what they think is hot! This has to be the worst hot coffee I've experienced in a Costa!, and I drink in a lot of Costa's and never seem to have a problem! I think you have to sort this, as it's every time I come here! Not good!

Made to feel absolutely rubbish when ordering today. I ordered from the menu board what it looked like a white latte and two pieces of toast with the words Flat Black white right next to it . I mistakenly thought it was the name of the two item I when I queried it was told it was only a black coffee. The server was laughing with his colleague when he collected my croissant from the counter. I said he his it’s an easy mistake to make if he looked at the board himself. He made to feel appalled for what I did. I thought Costa were a good company not anymore . I will never go back to the point I am deleting the app from my phone. There are loads of coffee shops out there. You have just lost a customer.
