Cornish Curry in Cornwall, Isles of Scilly

I really hate leaving negative comments on things but this curry was really average. I agree with other comments noting it's bland and the nanny bread being shop bought, the chicken was not like a classic tikka, it almost seemed boiled. The rice was a bit dry. We are staying nearby and got this as a treat, wouldn't recommend.

This was the worst curry I’d ever had, it was from a jar the naan bread and poppadoms were from a shop and warmed in a toaster. Not sure if these people had ever actually tasted proper indian food before or even tasted their own food before they sell it to the public. It’s disgusting don’t waste your time or money, there’s a co op round the corner where you’ll find the exact same tasting curry which you put in the microwave for a few minutes. There’s no way this company would survive a weekend in a major city serving this to people. I’d be embarrassed to serve this rubbish to people and charge them the amount they do.

What great little addition to Mullion's already lovely main street. A good curry right in the heart of Cornwall. We had the Balti and the Special (Malay) both really good.

We are.on holiday in a cottage 3 doors away from Cornish curry. The service was great, friendly service and food was really tasty. Definately recommend and will be using them again.

We had delicious curries from here , we chose chicken dansak and chicken balti, rice plus naan bread, all good portion sizes, tasty and homemade, watched it being cooked. This was easy to pre order earlier in afternoon by phone and seem less pick up by contactless payment. We were nearly put off by the recent negative comments but so glad we weren’t. Truly delicious!!

Amateur set up. Tried to order by phone and got voicemail. Turned up in person half an hour after opening to be told they could not provide us any food. Avoid and don’t waste your time.

Had a nice curry, maybe not completely authentic (the Sharwoods comment is totally undeserved) but definitely decent and for the price an enjoyable way to round off the evening. Don't expect clay oven naans, it'll be packet ones but the low price reflects this, and to be fair not really practicable in a mobile catering unit. Definitely nice enough for a takeaway after a few beers down the pub, although they may do more business if they stayed open past 8pm to catch the closing time clientele. Good luck with the business, both of you.

Delicious and tasty! Had the chilli masala. Not greasy at all. A nice holiday treat! I chose chicken and we shared a large rice. Would recommend!

I can’t say anything at all that isn’t positive. The food was perfectly on time and super easy to pre-order. Amazing flavour and not too much spice either. Perfect portion sizes and overall a phenomenal curry.

Tuesday and Thursday this is the place, food fantastic, tasty and lots of it, but was a little cold , I would recommend

Loads of flavour and not over the top heat.

We were curious but hesitant, as some previous reviews were negative, but we really enjoyed our dishes! They were tasty, spicy, and full of veggies, just the way we like them! We had the weekly special with lentils and pineapple and the Jalfrezi and I would recommend both.

As a local we decided to try Cornish Curry Co tonight as we have family visiting. Never again and super embarrassed! The two different curries we bought tasted exactly the same....bland, tasteless brown sauce. The chicken was tough and flavourless. The rice was OK but then its rice and as for the Naan, shop bought and soggy...well if I wanted a shop bought naan I would have bought it there cheaper and cooked it properly. Genuinely can't believe how bad it was. My advice for anyone thinking of visiting, head to a Helston supermarket, grab a jar of sharwoods and cook it at home. It will taste exactly the same at a third of the price. Gutted!!

Honestly cannot stress enough how bad this really was. Had my family down to stay, absolutely embarrassed. Dry chicken, bland curry sauce with a shop purchased Naan. I honestly would not be surprised if this is jarred sauce. Do not waste your money. Witnessed naans being brought out in an orange supermarket bag, all to be "cooked" in a bread toasting machine.

Oh dear oh dear, what can I say, something positive first, it was food, it didn't kill me, it filled a hole. Now, some criticism has to be said about the actual curry, or brown paste as it were. I ordered a Vindaloo, but this was certainly not, it had no spice, no heat and the chicken was a little tough. No big bold flavours here. The rice was OK and the naan was to, although it was definitely shop bought and not the good stuff you get from the proper curry houses up North. Can't recommend.

This is far from curry as it can be....I've ordered Jalfrezi and I don't think it was even close to any of the chillies, very watery and tasteless. It gets even better my boyfriend ordered Vindaloo and that tasted like a cheap,poor quality tomato baby food. Chicken was chewy and overcooked and naan bread which cost £1.2 for one,it was most definitely shop bought one for maximum of £1 for 2. You will be better of going and getting a jar from the shop at least you will know what you are buying.

Just when we were getting bored of the same old food and being isolated in the depths of Lizard we found a sign for Cornish Curry!! The menu is basic but the food outstanding, and when you see the 'kitchen' they are working with its' even more amazing. Very tasty, worth a visit and make sure you pre-book !!

We picked up a menu for Cornish Curry when we first arrived in Mullion and learned that they were only open three evenings a week (Tuesday, Wednesday and Thursday during the summer and just Tuesday and Thursday in the winter months). The menu stated that they take orders before 5pm suggesting that that is a wise thing to do. We phoned our order in just before 5pm and they were already filling up so we would advise to phone as early as possible. We collected our order as arranged at 7.15pm - they were running a little late and were apologetic but we only had to wait for a few minutes. We had a chicken balti and a chicken jalfrezi, rice, poppadums and two naans. The naans were shop bought but still nicely cooked. The curries were both lovely; plenty of chicken and tasty sauce. They weren't very spicy but they have other choices on the menu for hotter curries. The rice was very nicely cooked and there was plenty of it. A welcome change from the pub food that you find yourself eating each evening when holidaying in England.

It was warm and filing but more of a stew than a curry. Tried the veg, chicken and prawn in both the balti and jalfrezi and no heat or spice in either. Suspect the entire meal may have been provided by Sharwoods 🤔 The naan certainly was. Probably fine if you love a pub curry but if you are looking for something authentic, give it a miss.

This is a very local enterprise, just two evenings a week, three during school holidays. Fresh cooked, just four dishes, but ample. Very keen price and highly recommended.

I was turned away from this place last night because I hadn’t preordered. I didn’t know I needed to, last time I went there I didn’t. However it’s not that I was turned away that upset me, it was the way it was handled. They were rude and offhand and made me feel like a complete nuisance for daring to ask for two curries! We have just returned after a self catering break in mullion. One night we chose a Cornish curry. Pre ordered by phone and picked up. They only do Tuesdays and Thursdays, but well worth it. A very tasty curry not hot but really tasty. Naans are a lot smaller than an Indian so might want 1 each.

If you are in Mullion you should try Cornish Curry. It’s freshly cooked and so tasty. We’ve tried chicken tikka and it was delicious!

Whilst staying in Mullion we thought we would try a curry from the Cornish Curry Company and we are so glad we did. Within walking distance from our property it was so easy to order, pick up and devour! The meals were all thoroughly tasty...

Saw the sign last year so decided to try this year. So pleased we did , a most excellent curry. I had a vege curry an excellent selection of veg. My OH enjoyed his chicken dansak.

Was really looking forward to a great curry , instead got a lukewarm no flavour something !!! Asked for a Balti but kfc spicy wings are hotter than what I got !!! Tasted like something shop bought from Sainsbury’s , shop bought nam bread only...

Every time I’m in Cornwall I stop here, the curry’s are made to order and lovely 🙂. Just grab a curry and head down to Poldhu Cove to eat it on the beach.

Wow, we are very lucky to live near a fantastic curry house in Oxfordshire and this was every bit as good at half the price, all curries freshly cooked and tasted fantastic. Would thoroughly recommend.

Great curry takeaway. After seeing how busy they get would definitely recommend ordering in advance on the day as we did available to order from 12. Tried a Prawn Massalla and Chicken Jalfrezi the second had 3 chillies on the Menu I would recommend if you enjoy spice then specify to make it spicy when you order. The large rice great for 2 people. The naans are individual size, so order 1 per person.

I can see why opinion is divided. The food is very reasonably priced and smells fantastic as it is being cooked. However the sauce is very tomatoey, too much so for many.

Great little business! Currys seem to have been 'cooled down considerably' to a point where there is hardly any spice or heat to the curry rendering them so similar in taste! Please dont be afraid to use chilli when it says its got chilli. All 'ok' but nothing exceptional as flavours were good but all the same with no significant contrast. Maybe flavour and spices removed to meet customers palates...but then please tell customers spicy with 3 or 4 chillis on the menu isnt true

Found this gem last year tucked away on a narrow one way street in Mullion Established in 2005 it’s a takeaway from a portable cabin in a cull de sac open only several days a week serving a limited but beautiful selection of Indian dishes...

Now I'm no curry expert but what I do know is when I've had a curry that I really like. We pre-ordered (advisable) and didn't have to wait or our curry. When we ate it the taste was superb. Unbelievable for somewhere tucked away in the village of Mullion. If you are in the area and want a really great tasting curry (without burning your throat) then the Cornish Curry is where you should head. Enjoy. We did and recommend it.

We were a little disappointed after reading the good reviews. We ordered 5 different curries for a big family meal and they all tasted practically the same. They all needed salt and tasted very bland and lacking in spices. They reminded me of the typical base sauce style curry we’ve all tried at home after following one of the hundreds of YouTube video tutorials and they never taste like authentic restaurant curries. We were also disappointed that this is not the same company as “the Cornish curry co” which has been featured on the tv and won numerous awards we were lucky to try her curries in Truro years ago and let me tell you they are a million times better than this place. Is there any alternatives locally? No, did we eat the food? Yes, will we order from here again? Definitely not!

Delicious! We had Chicken Balti and Prawn Masala with rice and naans. Freshly made and yummy. It was worth a 20 minute wait.

Family meal while at holiday park. Reasonable prices but not really authentic Indian curry, but having said that it was all eaten. Naan bread was shop bought not freshly made and pillau rice was probably same but all the same everybody said it was ok - not much left afterwards! Being where we were situated at the end of Cornwall we would order there again.

Fantastic little curry van, menu is small but delicious. They have weekly specials, which are worth trying. Sadly it's nearly the end of there season, look forward to one last dish and then snooze for winter.

Kept Seeing the signs as we drove through so gave it a try. The curry was bit disappointing, really mild and no really flavour. A bit like just chicken in a gravy. My one was a jalfrazi with two chillies next to it, there was no spice to it at all.

Fantastic Curry. We were staying at the Mullion Cove Retreat we pre ordered our food for a set time to collect. It was cooked fresh. Very tasty and great value. Would definitely recommend.

What an absolutely delicious dinner. We ordered a balti and a pathia. Both were fantastic and full of flavour. Not your usual brightly coloured sauce, but lovely and natural. We have never had a pathia before and were unsure how hot it would be, but both had a bit of spice but were not too hot. Wish I could come back!

Arrived expecting a restaurant but found an excellent take away run by a lovely couple. Food very tasteful with plenty of chicken breast assured gluten free Poppadums' and pickles really good Good quick service Recommended to son-in-law who was equally impressed

The biggest surprise about Cornish Curry Co isn't just a well hidden shop, but instead a food van run by English couple. But the food is fantastic served, with large chunk of meat provide per dish and the sauce is lovely crafted. Just one thing, the shop is cash only.

Veered away from my normal Indian dish selection and tried the weekly special, lamb rogan josh - it was a tasty dish but being the first time trying a rogan josh I have no comparison, however I wasn’t a fan of the naan bread and I wouldn’t have them again. Being spoilt with excellent local Indian restaurants I did find the menu limited and not especially exciting however as a break from pub meals it was pleasant enough

Lovely people lovely food we had a masala which my other half loved it and a jalfrezi which was nice but could of been hotter but that's just me. If your ever in Mullion or in the area definitely need to go.

Wonderful home made curries - one of the best we have had, Great choice, portions and value - if you like a curry then this is a definite must if you are ever in Mullion or on the Lizard.

When I looked for a Indian/curry takeaway I wasn't expecting a small trailor on someone's driveway. We had a masala and a balti..neither tasted right. Naan was ok.

Ordered curry well in advance but still had a 25 minute wait from when it was ordered for. Ordered prawn korma.....tasted nothing like a korma I’ve ever had before and not in a good way. Tasted more like a Thai curry...very watery also.my husband had jalfrezi which he enjoyed though.

Just had a takeaway from here. Chicken korma, medium balti and mild to medium Masalla. 2 rice, Nan bread, popadoms and chutneys. Absolutely delish. When u first get the curry’s you may think that the colour is odd. This is because they don’t use any colouring but the taste is fabulous. All of the above for £26 and easily fed 4 of us.

I would recommend to everyone. I’m not a local, just visiting friends and on the right night. Open Tuesday & Thursday 5.30-8 and Wednesday during summer school closure.

This place came up when i did a trip search and had some good reviews so thought we would give it a try. It was "ok" as a last min meal but to be honest I'm not sure we will be going again. As mentioned by another reviewer the currys just seemed to lack flavour. Not just mild, but lacking flavour. Popadoms and chutneys were nice..

They're only open on a Tuesday and Thursday at this time of year, so we fell lucky. Very generous portions and a good price, you can find this curry van in someone's driveway in Mullion, and it's well worth a visit if you like curries!

This little place is on the main Street through Mullion, a sign on the wall advertises the business, it's based in a caravan that's beautiful and clean, The food is absolutely beautiful, we asked for adjustments to our curry and the staff were very hayto oblige, lovely fresh ingredients...great curry, we took our take away to Poldhu beach and had a beautiful evening meal in Beautiful surroundings... Check dates for opening, closes for winter..worth waiting for

The best and tastiest curry on the planet - it’s great quality, great value and extremely tasty. Portions sizes are perfect and it’s all fresh. If you’re in the area (and even if you’re not) it’s well worth a visit.

We never seemed to pass through Mullion at the right time of opening of Cornish Curry before, but today we saw a customer leaving the trailer carrying his takeaway curry. On hearing us discussing whether to get one, he said that it was brilliant and we wouldn't be disappointed. He was right! The portions were generous, the curries and rice very tasty and the poppadums nice and crisp. All round very good and we'll definitely be going there again.

Absolutely delicious.Tuesdays and Thursdays in Mullion 5.30 - 8.30pm also Wednesday during summer school holidays. 2 curries, 2 rice, 6 huge poppadoms and 2 mango chutney for £20. You can phone in your order or be prepared to queue and wait. Understandably very popular. By far the best food we had on The Lizard !!

We were staying in Mullion were there are limited take away choices but saw this had been recommended. The menu isn’t online as far as we could find but just drive down and they have printed ones to take with you. We gave it a go and were not disappointed, they produce great tasting curries and for reasonable prices. I would also say pre-order to make sure you don’t miss out. The curries were not that hot but you can ask for more chilli to be added and they are happy to do that. We had rice and naan with ours which were good, not sure that the naan is homemade but a supermarket version but it still tasted good. Overall I would recommend.

Saw a sign advertising curry take-away twice a week, Tuesday and Thursday (Also Wednesday during school holidays). It was raining so gave it a try. Ordered and went to pub for half an hour, on return all was ready. We had prawn Balti, chicken masala, 2 rice, onion salad, nan, 2 poppadums and chutney. You can have the dishes as hot or mild as you like. All this lovely home cooked meal for around £18. Tasted delicious and the portions were generous. Very nice as a change. Open from 18.30 to 20.30

One of the nicest curries I've had, very good value and generous portion size. I would recommend and if I'm in Mullion on the right night I'll be going again. Took the option to phone the order in earlier in the day. It's not a resteraunt but a takeaway van in the owners front drive - don't be put off by that. Excellent papadums and fabulous onion salad. Give it a go.

We pre-ordered and would recommend you do as it is really popular. The food is fresh, home made and good portions. The cutneys, nan and rice are great as are the popadoms. However if you are used to authentic curries these are very mild. Go for at least 1 above normal and I would say 2 above. Our daughter is a 'masala' at home and she said the jalfezi was not spicy. If you allow for this it is great, fresh food.
