Corner Chippy Paignton in Torbay

Saw the award feature, read the reviews, party of four went out of our way to go there for Lunch today, and it was closed !

Its a good place to eat fish and chips. We went with tjerk whole family and eat really good. Alsof hood service

Very friendly staff, good prices and delicious food. AND THEY TAKE CARD UNLIKE ANOTHER CHIP SHOP I REFUSE TO NAME! 10/10. Would recommend!

We were made welcome as soon as we walked through the door. Me and my wife had the hake special and my son had cod special. With drinks it came to £30 and i also had some squid and the gentleman bought us a dish of batter bits. A lovely sit down meal and when in the area again we will pop in

Had a cracking cod and chips tonight, light batter, crispy and the fish well cooked, with a generous portion of chips, top job!!!

All of the staff were really friendly and attentive, made us feel very welcome. Portions were great value for money and the food was fresh and tasted really nice.

Best fish and chips you can buy , really enjoy them and staff really friendly and premise’s really clean and tidy . Highly recommend.

Went there friday the 2nd in a group of 4 and we must say it was very nice ,good food,clean place , polite staff good value for money ,nice to see they didnt hike up the price for holiday makers ,served in a quick time ,light and lovely batter on my large fish and chips ,will call again ,thumbs up ,

We came with our large family on Wednesday and the lady was absolutely fabulous with us all, loads of time and patience with our little ones and older ones alike she was wonderfully polite and patient. Portions were great and the price was fantastic, throughly enjoyed it and would definitely visit again when we go to Paignton

This was our second visit , the regular fish was perfect,the chips done to perfection. My wife does not usually eat any of the batter or all of her chips, this time she did. I will have to order large next, which will be very soon. Keep up the good food and hygeine. David Irwin Paignton

Fish was the smallest I've ever seen... size of a fish finger! Highly disappointed.

We order dine in 2 larg Cod and smoth and spice Curry . Fish was very delicious but it was smaller than usual. However it was delicious

Nice chippy but the lady taking the order got a little confused as their was quiet a few of us eating.

I dont understand why, two chippys on the same road have to make terrible chips, what is the fascination in coating chips in I dont know what, so when you eat them, the coating makes the chips hard, and strips the skin off the inside of your mouth, the only decent thing was the curry sauce, be nice to find some nice normal chips on holiday, friendly service, terrible food.

We went on sunday we decided for a sit down meal we had small fish and chips twice and 2 drinks for under 16 pound me and my wife will be going again soon thanx guys

Totally impressed with this establishment. Best fish and chips in years. My Dad who is almost 80 commented ' To find Hake on the menu is rare. What I have eaten was delicious and very enjoyable.' Pity we live too far away to return after this week. Try this chippy out. It is excellent value for money and great customer service too. 👏

Absolutely shocking!!! Do NOT eat here!! We arrived when this place was relatively quiet with our starving little ones this evening, Asked if we were dining in or taking away. We said sit in please. Chap told us to take a seat and then someone would bring us a menu over. We sat for 15 minutes and no menu. Staff walking past regular and milling around chatting amongst themselves .After my husband finally went to ask for a menu, a member of staff came over with a payment machine. We left . Do not recommend at all

We visited on holiday and wow, good food at great prices. My husband had the 12” sausage, chips and mushy peas, I had cod and chips and the children the butchers sausage and chips. So good, great value and friendly service. You will not regret visiting here!

Whoever gave this place 5 stars needs a head check up. I ordered large cod and chips x 3. After 25 mins i finally got my order. They tried to fob me off with two cod in one box, mind you two of their “large” cod might of actually been a large cod at any other place. When I opened the box and looked for the fish I thought they gave me a plaice with a see through rain mac on it lacked that much batter and was so thin. I felt sorry for the cod sacrificing itself to be put in the hands of someone who couldn’t boil an egg. I felt sorry for the young girl serving this slop. Never ever again. Ps had to give one start to write a review, didn’t deserve any.

We visited the restaurant, could not fault it. Top Quality fish and chips everything was delicious including the mugs of tea. Excellent service with outstanding staff so warm and welcoming. will definitely being seeing you all again soon Thank you Corner Chippy

Large Cod was very good but definitely not what I would describe as large, more like regular. Chips were 90% batter 10% potato, very small portion, curry sauce was good but small portion size, mushy peas were good but small portion size (as measured against similar fish and chip shops in my local area. I have given a 3 star review as staff are polite, and the fish tasted good quality. A bit disappointed overall for almost £12 for takeaway and would probably try somewhere else if I returned to Paignton, sorry. And yes in reference to the owners response it was definitely the Corner Chippy - perhaps the 90% non potato part of the chip was just crispy fat and not batter (if they don't batter their chips).... My mistake

My husband and I visited this restaurant we had excellent service the staff were outstanding as was the food very reasonable prices and food was outstanding don’t miss the opportunity to eat here you will regret it

We tried the large Hake and chips at £7.95. Really good with a light batter and super chips. We I’ll go back here again soon.👍

I visited this Chippy in Paignton, great Cod and Chips. Definitely the best around! They do childrens meals and staff are very Friendly too. Well worth a visit and you won’t regret it!

THE BEST! We to the corner chippy, with my whole family! Such amazing and friendly service! Our server was a guy named Moses, and we could’ve have asked for a more better service than what he provided, a very nice and friendly man, the fish and chips was fresh and tasted AMAZING! I dont have enough good things to say about this place, they took care of me and my family , by providing good service and good food, the wiped ice cream there is like nothing iv tasted before, and would definitely go back there just for the fish and chips and good service again. With a good price also. Perfect end to a long family trip!

BEST FISH AND CHIPS IN PAIGNTON: AMAZING FAMILY CHIP SHOP! We visited this newly opened Fish and Chip Shop last week. This is an honest family run business with extremely friendly service. The place itself is very clean, with tables open to eat inside. Covid precautions were still in place, which was pleasing to see with the large number of customers passing in from the local beach front. The food taste amazing and was freshly prepared before us whilst we chatted to the lovely owners. I will definitely be returning as a regular and recommend this to anybody visiting Paignton!!

Me and the family visited the Corner Chippy for dinner last night and it was the best fish & chips I have ever had. Just amazing. Fish, 2 large chips, sausage and gravy - it was delicious. Along with amazing staff and great customer service. They are super covid safe which put me at ease as my daughter is high risk. Couldn't ask for anymore. Definitely going back soon!! 100% recommend.
