Came here with my dad and brother to try the Yorkshire wraps. We had one of each meat. They were a great price and the portion was spot on. Flavour was really nice, especially after a long walk around the village. Was a tad loud as people where in there watching the football but it is a pub after all. Definitely recommend and will be going again 👌 xx

Terrible service. Went for a birthday meal last night. We was a table of 7 and was the only ones eating. Food was 40 minutes getting sent out and was cold. Staff never checked on us throughout the evening. Also never advised of a delay with the food. Just standing around chatting at the bar. Really spoilt our evening as it was a special birthday catching up with family.

I entered the building and observed the ‘wait to be seated’ sign, waited a few minutes and was ignored so asked the bar staff what the food situation was.I was told they had stopped doing food, the time was 8.01 on a Saturday night!!The signs posted around the building states until 9pm on a Saturday night. I mentioned this to the barman that he was falsely advertising and he said ‘I’ve mentioned this to management when we started finishing at 8pm 4 months ago but they aren’t interested’. So basically too lazy to change a sign. We are local and wanted to try the restaurant and based on the initial welcome and lies on the signage will not be returning!

This place has been on the news as a dog owner and his collie were mercilessly attacked by another dog and punter. That’s the tip of the iceberg. This place has been run into the ground. The food is awful (menu offered homemade soup and we were given a tin of Heinz soup from the Tesco round the corner). We were offered a free meal but when we went months later the rude idiot at the bar said we were two minutes early and ordered us out of the pub until it opened two minutes later. Ridiculous. it has also banned its locals and the management are either never there, incompetent or rude. This is no reflection on the lovely bar staff. The dovecote owners also have this pub but have clearly neglected it for the more profitable business. Let go of this pub that you can’t run.

Thought would give it another try went two weeks ago and didn’t think much of it. So went again for Sunday lunch first thing that put me off was a waitress with waist length blonde hair flinging it around everywhere in the sauces in peoples food and on the tables. Why was her hair not tied back??? Food mediocre some of it was cold staff were not pleasant other than one short dark haired girl with white trainers on who was very professional did a check back when she didn’t even seat us nor took our drinks order but brought them to our table with a smile. The other ‘hairy’ waitress was rude unpleasant and really looked like she didn’t want to be there let alone be friendly. Will not be coming back again. This manager never smiled never asked if we were enjoying our dinner in fact he just walked around. When are you going to get it right.

Arrived 2.15pm for a work lunch meal which we booked in advance for a table of 10. First meal came out after an hour and 15 minutes then each meal came out with 10 minutes in between at 3.40 we were told no breaded mushrooms, no cambert. This should have been told to us as we ordered rather than waiting 1 hour and 25 minutes and then asking we want something else. We were all on a lunch break which has now caused 10 people to be late back to work. Told no manager available. Chicken burger did not have melted cheese on and then they put a cold cheese slice in the middle when it was raised. Gentleman serving just kept telling us he only arrived at 3. 3 meals out of 10 didnt even get served in 2 hours. Absolutely shocking service, when questioned with manager she was very defensive and rude saying we were told when we were not. Wont be returning.

Visited for a drink with my wife. We had a bottle of wine the cost was almost £21 which is fine for a restaurant but this is a pub that does meals that has a clientèle that are very loud, and pretty uncouth. Not only that the pub allows dogs to come in - not on a lead which is bad enough when you just have a drink, let alone when you might be eating. The tables are not cleaned there is crap all over the floors. It's disgusting. Considering the owners have other pubs in the nearby vinicity this one is crap. Really poor and doesn't seem to be managed. The only person in charge seems to be very pregnant and unwilling to smarten the place, such a shame. Would not recommend coming here.

My family and I went to the Copt Oak to enjoy a lovely Saturday lunch.... wow what a mistake. The barman had no customer service skills, didn’t even say hello when we walked in and just looked at us as if to say what do you want. We got our drinks and ordered our food (which we thought was a little pricey but hey give it the benefit of the doubt). Waited over half an hour (for sandwiches with only one other table in the restaurant) and when they arrived the salad looked like it was from last Thursday’s Tesco bargain bin, the sandwiches were poor with absolutely no care taken. Not worth £7!!! No one even asked if our food was ok. We also couldn’t even use the toilets because they were so dirty. Awful experience - avoid!!!!

Sadly disappointed. Visited 5:00 PM on a Saturday afternoon with the intention to dine with the family. When we walked in we observed the request to stand a wait to be seated but after being ignored for a good five minutes we approached the barman who was busy chatting and he told us to go and sit wherever we pleased. Having sat down a waitress came out and cleared another table but made no acknowledgement of us whatsoever. After waiting a further 10:00 minutes we decided to go elsewhere to somewhere that was more interested in our custom. It’s a shame because we live locally and after years of avoiding this establishment we had started to use it again but I am afraid that it has sunk to its previous low standard, let down by disinterested staff. If I was the owner of this business I would be furious that my staff were ignorant and lazy enough to ignore custom. Having left, eaten elsewhere, and walked by an hour later we were not surprised to see that the restaurant was absolutely empty. There’s a surprise. My advice to anyone considering dining there would be, don’t bother they are not interested.

I visited this place when it was nearly refurbished full of hope. I opted for the homemade soup of the day followed by scampi. The soup arrived and it was a tin of Heinz vegetable soup with no bread or butter. I immediately returned this and one manager pretended she was shocked it was Heinz soup, another manager said he was fully aware but as soup was not a big seller they had just decided to serve tinned soup instead. The "chef" for some reason cannot make homemade soup anymore although they charge around four pounds for a tin of soup. The other manager said that the reason they had been deceiving customers is because they were due to change the menu; the menu has not changed three months later. They apologised and did refund us for the soup. We then had to move tables as a bunch of around ten school children bombarded the bar area which we had chosen as we assumed the restaurant would be child friendly but not the bar, how wrong we were. They were screaming and we were told they can sit in the bar as they cannot "discriminate?". I then had the scampi which was cold and soggy. Again a disappointment. The manager agreed if I returned he would do a deal and promised the food would have improved. So, in august me and a friend in anticipation paid them another visit at around 11.45am. We headed to the bar and was greeted by a young lady. We asked to see the manager who then simply said they were not open and he had no idea how we had got in the building and we were turned away. How disappointing that a once much loved pub by the locals has ended up like this.

Apart from that it was very good.

We have been several times for the fresh carvery. It is good value and well presented. Freshly cooked roasts, several different meats. Plenty if fresh veg., in a variety of options.

I can agree with previous reviews about re-cooked chips! I hadnt been to this pub for over 20 years, and so I was looking forward to a nice lunch, but i found our food arrived just 5 minutes after i had ordered it, we hadnt even sat down when it arrived. The chips were brown... certainly not what we were expecting, my friend even remarked that they came out before we have sat down. The bar lady spent most her day sat out in the sun smoking, and the pub, sadly, looks lilke it hasnt been cared for since i last visited, its a real shame to see pubs decline, but when nobody seems to care what they are dishing out or what the pub looks like, and indeed dishing out catering bottles of ketchup, its just such a shame, if i owned that pub i would be ashamed, embarrassed and would be trying to put things right, but i fear that nobody really cares about what they sell or what it looks like... I give it five years,,, and then it will probably be turned into houses, as estate pubs are dying.... this one seems to be on its last legs.thouroughly dissapointing and i have been so ill this morning that i immediatley thought of the hygine of that pub.added that the locals were a couple of middle aged men who should be at work, who told my daughter off for not finishing her chips saying, thats not very grateful, she cooked you them now eat them, what the actual?

Veggie combo! There were some mushrooms and onions in there somewhere disguised as batter. Cheap and cheerful, family and pet friendly.

We went here as a big party between Christmas and New Year. Service at the bar was rather slow as apparently 2 members of staff had called in sick. The food was good however and for the most part, it came out at the same time even though we ordered separately which was nice. The burgers were a little greasy but all in all, we had a good experience.

Visited at lunch with a group of friends who were all really impressed with the quality and value offered by the 2 for £10 menu. Meals were cooked to order and seemed to depend more on home cooking than the normal freezer selection. We were told about the just made steak and red wine pie which proved to be the star of the show. No tinned pie filling, just huge pieces of tender meat with not a scrap of waste, served in a rich sauce and a home made pastry lid. The only complaint was that some of us struggled with the very generous helpings, but no one faulted what was put in front of them.

Belated birthday lunch with my sister who lives locally. She suggested here as it had just been refurbished and had previously come with our brother and had a nice meal. Barmaid very hospitable and gave us choices not listed on the menu. My sister had a jacket potatoe and had the faggots which were homemade and delicious. Very reasonably priced and well worth a visit.

Even though the pub has been decorated the menu is still exactly the same. Just had a terrible meal. Chips were re-heated, baked beans no taste, the cheapest ever, the burger i'm sure had no meat in it, tasted like a piece of rubber, and was literally burger and bun, no salad, onion or anything' my partner had fish and chips and the fish was from from Iceland ( the shop) not what you expect to pay for. The ketchup comes in a catering size bottle on the table, no finesse!!! Will not be visiting this pub again in the near future. If you want edible food do not go here.

Visited the Copt oak pub last week and really liked the new refurb. The Copt oak is open plan and looked twice as big. I found it had more space for more families to come in and enjoy what has to offer at this family pub, excellent food, outstanding service and a friendly atmosphere

Me and the good lady drop in on a Monday night for the 2 for £10 it is well worth the money no need to get the pans out because I could not make it and cook it for the same price. I all ways find the staff very helpful, jolly and nothing is to much trouble. I have read some of the other reviews and find them hard to swallow and let,s be right life is not perfect and thing do go wrong from time to time but if they offer to put it right or refund you your money back say thank you and go on your merry way you don't have to return that's your choice but remember when writing on this forum the staff who work there read this page and like most people you feel they are giving there all they get very upset when someone writes a damming review re the service / food on offer.

My wife and I decided that we would try a meal at this pub as had not been there for such a long time, the staff were preoccupied with something else and we had to find our own menu's. We both had chips with our meals and we thought that they had been warmed up and not fresh, however the waitress told us otherwise, we noticed that some others had much nicer looking chips than we did. There were two young boys under the age to be allowed into the premises, and they were playing football with a balloon, the waitresses just let them alone, the balloon came near to us and bounced off my wife. The land lady later informed us that they should not have been in that area. We declined a refund and will not be going there agin in the foreseeable future a very bad experience and not one to be repeated, not like the other reviews, were we in the same pub?

This jewel of a local pub/restaurant is, without doubt, worth visiting. Every meal that I have had at the family-friendly Copt Oak since moving to Leicestershire a year ago has been freshly prepared and served to a high standard. The food is reasonably priced, and nothing is too much trouble for the cheerful and friendly staff.

Yes the pub could do with a refurbishment, but this is something that will come from the brewery who own the pub and is now imminent. However the service is always friendly and the staff are always welcoming. The food is lovely and has a menu to suit everyone's taste. I have been coming to the pub since moving to the area 18 months ago, regulary bringing family and friends who enjoy themselves as much as we do.

We ate here twice. The food is good, fresh and served in generous portions. The staff are friendly and the bar selection is very good. But this place really deserves a make over. The toilets are tatty and the decor and furnishings desperately need attention. Come on Marstons. Think what sort of business this could be if you just give it a bit of TLC!
