Lovely location that will always attract visitors. But the coppa club does not match up. The service was non existent so we were required to go elsewhere

Really nice atmosphere. Our waitress Summer was very kind and helpful. I made a mistake with my order and she swiftly fixed it. Definitely will plan to come here again soon!

The food did not meet the £45 per head that we spent. It was below average in quality. The staff were lovely but the food and prices do not correlate. Really disappointed- won’t be back in a hurry.

Hugely inflated prices - £19 for an average large glass of wine. Cold chips, tough steak and basic salad leaves. So sad. This should be a gem of a local restaurant but it's not. I keep coming back thinking it's going to be better - it never is.

Four of us visited on the evening of Friday 23rd May 2025, pre booked a table of 4, We arrived on time but still when shown to are table the tables had to be put together, this seemed to have been the trend throughout the night for other diners to, chairs being lifted over people’s heads to adjust table numbers whilst eating. Ordered our drinks and had to wait quite along time for them to arrive Ordered food which we were looking forward to however when it came it was a complete let down … chicken soaked in oil, steak was so hard not even a steak knife could cut into it (medium) and just a lack of food and quality … we cook better at home. We had 1 drink throughout the whole night and was not offered any refills, had to ask for the table to be cleared and also was not asked how are food was / was everything ok. We had multiple servers and the whole night just seemed chaotic not only for us but for other diners The setting and place itself is 5 star you can’t beat it but something has seriously changed …. We have been 3-4 times in the past For us we travel 40 minutes to get to the Coppa Club….. after this visit it’s unfortunately going to be our last I really hope somone can turn this back around. Reviews all seem to be saying the same thing

The food was brilliant, the squid and stake especially! The waitress summer was very kind! And the atmosphere of the restaurant was absolutely amazing and inviting, with a bookshelf that we checked out some things from, including a poem that my mum had me read on her phone to us the way back to our house, amazing food, amazing service, amazing location, my mum even said it is her new favourite restaurant!

Had an amazing lunch at the Lobster Bar in Coppa Club Streatley! The lobster roll was incredible, and Lauren, the Manager, was fantastic. She really took care of us, especially with our allergies. It was great to feel so appreciated as a customer. Highly recommend!

Went for food. Been several times before but don't think I will bother again. Slow service as always! took ages just to come take our order, forget my husbands drink so had to try and catch someone as they walked past. We sat in the glass window part which is right by the river. Loads of tables hadn't been cleared. Then I make the mistake of looking at the windows as I was sat beside them. There was LOADS of dead flies all along the window edges and every corner had cobwebs and more dead bugs. There wasn't just a few, there was a lot!! After reading someone else's review a week earlier and the hotel saying they would look into the cleanliness they obviously have not done so! Oh and the counter the staff have their equipment etc on all the handles were broken and hanging off. Looked such a mess. Shows the place is not cared for at all.

12 of us went for a booked group meal at Coppa restaurant. Drinks then starters arrived but after 40 minutes we were still waiting for mains and when we raised this they blamed the people having starters 😒! Mains can be served alongside starters, may be ask if people would like that? Then some food wasn't cooked to people's liking, tough etc. This was addressed but all very unsatisfactory as the damage was done. A few of us sat elsewhere and were brought menus for sweet and coffee but no one came back to serve us so we left after about 20 minutes! Do you want to look after people?

Couldn’t agree more with a lot of the recent comments about Coppa Club. After visiting, I felt compelled to share how underwhelming the experience was. While the setting is beautiful, everything else fell flat – starting with the food. For the prices they charge, you’d expect something far more satisfying. Unfortunately, what we got was tasteless, overpriced and insubstantial. The lamb dish – which sounded promising – arrived with just two tiny pieces of lamb. As for the fish and chips, the portion of chips was so minimal it looked like a side dish rather than a full meal. Again, no real taste to speak of – just bland and forgettable. The staff also seemed completely disinterested, barely engaging with us and clearly just going through the motions. There was no warmth, smiles, no attentiveness – just a sense that they'd rather be anywhere else. Coppa Club felt like one of those places that relies on aesthetics to draw people in, rather than delivering a genuinely good dining experience. I won’t be returning, and I wouldn’t recommend it unless you enjoy paying a premium for subpar food and uninterested service.

A lovely relaxing place to eat and relax on the terrace overlooking the River Thames. Friendly staff and delicious treats for our dog who appreciated the gesture!

So disappointed with this place. Absolutely stunning venue but the food is average at best so extremely overpriced for what it is. I will happily pay a lot for decent food but this is far from decent. The portion sizes are average and the menu choice is un inspiring an limited. The table wasn't cleaned and wobbly and loads of uncleared tables around us. This is the second time I've given this place a shot, hoping the first time was a one off, but realistically it's only good for a beer to enjoy the stunning surroundings. The service was poor with staff seeming to just walk about aimlessly, the drinks were slow and wrong when they arrived. Definitely will not be recommending or returning any time soon. Such a shame as it could be such a gem. They are just resting on the surroundings with very little effort.

Went in for an evening meal with my wife. Drinks took an eternity to arrive and the rose wine was warm. Asked for some ice for the wine. None arrived. Asked again and ten minutes later the waitress brought it over. By this time I had finished my beer so I tried to order another but, alas, the waitress spoke little English so after a series of mimes, I managed to order a beer. At no point did the waiting staff ask how our meal was. Three drinks, two starters and two mediocre salads for £106 seems excessive to me. In short, nice spot on the river, abysmal service, expensive. I live locally but shall not return unless they seriously up their game. Poor.

The Lobster Bar at The Coppa Club – A Style-Over-Substance Masterclass Let’s be clear: The Lobster Bar at The Coppa Club is absolutely, heartbreakingly gorgeous. It’s like someone dropped a Soho House brochure into a Chelsea Flower Show and said, “Go mad.” The Thames sparkles below, the gardens are coiffed to within an inch of their chlorophyll, and the interior looks like a Nancy Meyers fever dream – all linen banquettes, rattan, and the soft glow of a thousand Instagram filters. You want to love it. You do. And then they bring the food. Oh God, the food. Imagine if a village pub in Surrey tried to go upscale by watching a Gordon Ramsay rerun and ordering bulk brioche buns from Costco. That’s your Wagyu Burger. Bone-dry. Dead cow dusted in salt and dreams, served with a few fries that looked like they’d been rescued from the bottom of a teenager’s takeaway bag the night before. “Gourmet,” they call it. Honestly, the only thing wagyu about it was the price. Service? Oh, it wants to be good. It means well. But it’s like being served by a pack of enthusiastic spaniels—lovely smiles, boundless energy, absolutely no idea where your Guinness, ice cream or coffee might be. (Spoiler: nowhere. They don’t exist. Like your hopes for a decent dessert.) But then the sun hits the river just right. The rosé flows. And you think: “You know what? Maybe I don’t care.” Because if you want to sit somewhere stunning and be fed something that technically qualifies as food, this is the place for you. Just don’t come hungry, or hopeful. 4 stars for atmosphere. 1 star for the chips.

Food is not great, tasteless and worthless, however the location is great specially in Summer

Had to find a member of staff to ask to order food. Food was ok but almost cold, for the price point near enough £20 for a burger you’d expect warm chips and plenty of them but got hardly any and not very hot. Overall the beer was nice but all 3 of us left disappointed and hungry

Extremely disappointed with my experience at The Copper Club. The service was painfully slow, and the staff seemed disinterested from the moment we walked in. Our food arrived cold, and it the seating was poorly put together. Additionally the table was 20 mins late despite booking. I had high hopes based on the hype, but sadly, it did not live up to it. Won’t be returning.

We ate here on bank holiday Monday and I want to give a summer a massive thank you honestly she was so lovely and just elevated our experience here . Popped in for a drink and snack sitting by the river, both were delicious served by Liz, who was really nice and efficient.

Beautiful place and a beautiful welcome with Angela. She is warm and kind and compassionate. Our room was utterly perfect for our 3 night stay. Luxury that was described on the website when we booked. Spotless and excellent housekeeping throughout our stay. Can't say enough, except we can't wait to return. Thank you so much for the privilege to stay with you all.

Great atmosphere, and river views, very good service and food

Dirty tables, no bottle of water offered to the table. Dirty glasses and dishes. Busy staff and food takes a long time to come out.

Frustrated that your table QR code payment system required me to add an email to actually pay, made me specifically choose not to be added to your marketing list (rather than making it opt in), and then added me to your marketing email list anyway. It’s a terrible approach to customer data - I shouldn’t have to give you my email to pay on the first place, and then using it to send spam is deeply annoying.

Service, all very polite, only ordered two items. Our fries were forgotten. Tried to get the attention of staff but didn't give our corner much attention. Went to the bar and said we were missing fries, we had eaten the other item. No acknowledgement of poor service they said they would put some through. They arrived. We enjoyed it. Then another came, and we said no, not ours, and explained what had happened. They said please take these accept ur apologies. When the bill came, we were charged. They didn't take them off the bill. Not good attention to detail. So many staff walking round and still difficult to attention of staff.

The food here is absolutely delicious. Be prepared to pay a bit more than your average restaurant. It is well worth it though as the food is cooked perfectly and has all the right balances of flavour. They have a nice cocktail menu as well and various events happening throughout the year.

On a sunny spring Tuesday we are outside, by the river. Slightly breezy but a very pleasant spot. This used to be called the Swan. The food is a little overpriced and the portions aren't huge but it was a good visit.

My family and I ate here today and had a wonderful lunch . I had the burger and chips which comes on a board (nice touch) my wife and the Flash steak ( perfectly cooked pink). dad had the Carbonerra, and my son had the Crab linguine. We all had dessert which again were fantastic. All the staff are very polite and friendly and on point with their service. The view of the river is a great addition to the meal. Would definitely recommend and will be back for more delicious food.

We had a lovely afternoon at the Coppa Club, Streatley. We had booked a table in the riverside terrace but ended up taking a table in their huge garden by the river where they had a BBQ. The food was delicious, the staff were very friendly and professional, the setting was beautiful, we had an amazing time.

Very spacious and well decorated hotel restaurant by the beautiful Thames river with a peaceful garden. You can have drinks here in the summer. We enjoyed our lunch, nothing was too much trouble and it was very relaxing. Recommended

Beautiful location but the staff/ kitchen are dangerously uninformed about allergies (claiming croutons with Parmasan are dairy free) and the food is overpriced and average at best.

The last few times we've been service has been very slow, particularly for drinks to arrive and plates to be cleared - this time was completely different; orders taken quickly, drinks arrived before food as expected, meals were delivered promptly and service attentive, back to the 5 I'd always given it here before. Food as always is good and drinks are great and well presented.

An all-round great experience! I would highly recommend. We had dinner and breakfast there the day of our stay at the attached hotel. Delicious food that starts with good ingredients and is prepared and served well. An atmosphere that's modern, impressive, and comfortable. The staff are well trained in hospitality, and go the extra mile to ensure guest satisfaction. Really the whole place is a master class in hospitality. A very good value for money as well. Our only complaints were with the rather loud events venue that is far too near the rooms (very loud bass that transferred through walls, insufficient noise insulation) for which we had to move rooms, and the steam room has a loud valve/vent that slams at regular intervals making the steam or sauna less relaxing than they should be. I wouldn't hesitate to eat at the restaurant again but would call ahead to make sure there are no events on before I made another overnight reservation

Stopped here for lunch on a walk. Everything was badly executed. Food was warm not hot, the burger was served on a board (please use plates), and portions very small for the extortionate cost (I had fish and chips which was £19.50 for a tiny piece of unbattered fish - which was meant to be haddock but had very little flavour - and about 12 very salty chips). The peas were a messy mush that tasted primarily of mint. Coffee was tepid and bitter, very badly made. Waiting staff were unfriendly and disinterested. Avoid, unless you want to feel as brown, cold and gloomy as the river looked today.

Always good with a fantastic location

The building was elegant and we had an American waiter who was very welcoming and on the ball. The food was great, well presented and flavourful. However I must add the prices are high and when I told my friend she said the same chain in Tower Bridge London is cheaper than this one! I had the Carbonara and it was lovely, however there was more fat than meat on the strips (I know it's Carbonara, but think relatively here! Over 90% chewy fat to meat, some only fat and no meat). The dish was £16.50 and was the size of a starter! It maybe fancy pasta, but it is still pasta! I paid £46 for a pint, hot chocolate, carbonara, fries and bread and butter pudding (which was actually bigger than the Carbonara!). I left hungry and went home to have a pizza! Leaving hungry never sits well with me especially when paying a small fortune. All of that food was essentially fancied up peasant food so very over priced for what you get. If they had reasonable prices and good portions then I would highly recommend it, however for the minimal portion sizes and sky high prices I would think twice before returning if at all! On top of that there is a service charge of 12.5% included on the bill and a note to think about the staff that served you. At that price they should be paying their staff a decent wage!

Everything is lovely at The Swan at Streatley but for us - the staff made it exceptional. They are warm, friendly, helpful and welcoming. Best service we have had in a very long time across the board from Reception to waiting staff to bar staff. A lovely place.

Overall, the experience was OK, but there were multiple issues that shouldn't have occurred. Firstly, our table wasn't ready and we had to wait to be seated, so we waited in the bar. In the bar, I was charged for a double but given a single. We dined twice in the restaurant (breakfast and dinner), and neither time were we offered drinks or water at the start of our meal. The starter my partner had (smoked aubergine) wasn't what was detailed/expected as the dish wasn't smoked; it was cold and lacked any flavour. There weren't any check backs - I understand that staff were busy, but it's a job that takes seconds. Upon leaving, multiple tables were left uncleaned/uncleared - a job that takes minutes to complete. Staff were pleasant and friendly, the location was stunning, the decor was well designed, and the overall experience was OK, but for the price charged, I wanted more than OK.

Came here for breakfast. Very slow service and the food portions were fairly small for £16. There was a leak in the roof trickling on my neck constantly (very uncomfortable). Although the waitress was very nice.

£100 per person on Xmas day dinner (rip off). NO CHRISTMAS MUSIC, NO DECORATIONS. Bread (no butter ), olives and cheese fingers. 1 carrot, 2 pre baked potatoes (white undercooked ) NO yorkshire puddings, 4 slices of turkey , 1 anaemic parsnip. Followed by (cold) brownie & scoop of ice cream. Very disappointed with the food and the amount we got. Service was brilliant though 👏 Based off of previous reviews, I would say our portions were alot smaller than someone who bought the same meal for £33. My advise would be to include Yorkshire puddings, and cook the parsnips and potatoes longer so there not white and under cooked ( tasted like they were pre cooked and warmed up ). Maybe for the price include more for your money.

Coppa Club and in general and specially the Streatley is amazing! Very high recommended place and chain. Every time we go to Streatley Coppa Club we have amazing time, spot on and very tasty food, and in general just bring joy to the soul ! Wonderful place, highly recommended !

A very very average experience for the price! Food was tiny portions, tasteless and over cooked. Service was very bad with different deserts coming 10 mins apart. For the price they charge I do not recommend. We are also sat by the window on the river terrace which was dark and freezing. The seats supplied were extremely uncomfortable patio chairs! Restaurant was half empty on the Friday night before Christmas. Maybe the locals know something I don’t. Not recommended.

Great food and private dining experience, staff excellent

Just got back from an amazing meal! The food was absolutely brilliant, especially the chocolate mousse and Coppa mess - I couldn't fault them. The service was spot-on; everyone was super friendly and made me feel welcomed right from the start. I also loved how quickly everything came out, making the whole experience seamless. Can't wait to return!

It has been years and they still haven't made a meal where ive felt anything but vague disappointment. Not send it back bad, but just so uninteresting, badly plated, and unenjoyable to eat. Setting is beautiful and servers are nice but I can't believe people keep suggesting we come here. My mother got a chicken salad that she said had a fishy aftertaste. My mojito only tasted of lime juice. Cant remember the name of my dish but it was one of the specials last month, needless to say it was disappointing and bland.

I didn’t have a booking and simply went in for a late lunch. I ordered a two course meal from the Christmas menu for £33. I had the sea bass as the main and chocolate brownie as the dessert. Included in the Christmas offer was also bread and olives, which would have been good to serve with butter, a dip or even olive oil. It was a reasonably good meal but the plating could have been a bit more appealing and the service a bit faster.

The location is great, next to a weir. Large car park. After lunch, one can take a scenic walk over the bridge and alongside the canal.

We had a bland experience on our first visit here . Waited ages for our drinks order to be taken , and ages for said drinks to arrive . Had to flag someone down to take our food order. No interaction from staff at all . Food arrived , it was nice but not wow given the prices .No one checked to see if everything was OK etc . Had to flag someone down for the bill !! Alot of similar issues in the reviews , no improvements made given our experience.

Nice location however actual food is not amazing and is very expensive. The decor inside is nice apart from where we were sat was really dark and the table was dirty. Food was mediocre and not worth the money for me personally.

Amazing weekend away with lovely rooms and friendly staff. Accommodating to all needs and food was lovely. Village the hotel is situated in is lovely and has great shops and walks to visit. Would recommend to anyone wanting a nice little break not too far from the city.

Review for Coppa Club Streatley I visited Coppa Club Streatley yesterday evening with my partner and two friends, and unfortunately, it was an utterly disappointing experience. This place, once a favorite of mine, has significantly gone downhill. While the location remains stunning and the venue itself is clean and well-maintained, I would strongly advise against spending your money here—it’s simply not worth it. To start, the service was incredibly slow, and we weren’t even greeted with a smile upon arrival. For a venue of this supposed standard, such lack of warmth and professionalism was unacceptable and set the tone for the evening. The food itself was another major letdown. I ordered the chicken main, which was shockingly small in portion size, fatty, and tasted terrible. For £18.50, I expected far better—this was a rip-off when compared to other venues offering quality dishes at similar prices. When I raised my concerns with the waitress, my complaint was dismissed outright. She didn’t offer to take the dish back or make any adjustments to the bill, which was particularly frustrating and unprofessional. Speaking of the bill, the total cost for two courses (no desserts!) came to an eye-watering £170. For what we received, this was outrageously overpriced. I left feeling cheated and deeply disappointed. Despite the beautiful setting, this experience has completely tarnished my view of Coppa Club Streatley. If you’re considering dining here, I strongly suggest looking elsewhere. Save your money and your time—this place is not worth it.

Having stayed at the Coppaclub many times in Sonning, arriving at Goring was a refreshing new experience. The look and feel are very similar, and the location on the river provides a stunning setting. The addition of a health club is a great benefit. The food and staff maintain the high standards I’ve come to expect, and the overall experience is consistently good. I would highly recommend it for both lunch and overnight stays.

Overpriced low quality food- not a great combination. Staff were perfectly nice and attentive but service charge as standard so couldn’t recognise that on the bill that rivalled the GDP of any small state. I should have just sat outside at the busy cafe on the other side of the bridge.

The menu choice for breakfast seems to shrink on each visit, considering this is an hours drive from home one wonders if it's worth the effort(?); especially as favourite pancakes have now been removed. The service was slow and drinks arrived as we finished our meal (not that warm either!).

Service very slow. Very busy at lunch time. Very very noisy. Acoustics bad. Food mixed. Pizza good. Chicken with red cabbage and anaemic fries, pedestrian and flavourless. Sister had a small pizza , garlic and mozerella, tasteless, she left it. No pride in what is served up. Relies on the ambience of the position, Streatley on Thames. Locals deserve better.

Have always loved this place, but a recent trip for a group of 10 was quite a let down. Service to our side room was very slow, numerous issues with food (everybody who ordered steaks/burgers commented on how oddly overcooked they were-steak was ordered med-rare but not the slightest hint of pink present, not great when charging £35 for a steak. Pasta portion hilariously small, and fries portion laughably stingy). Drinks were also an issue (beer flat, cocktails served as 90% froth if you were unlucky enough to get the bottom of the shaker-these are £13.50 and we were surprised the waiter had the brazeness to put these infront of customers! One of the "replaced" cocktails still found its way on to the bill twice!) We did not complain about all of the above, as it really ruins the vibe of a celebratory meal. Having been here 15+ times, ive always recommended it for its upmarket feel, great atmosphere and attention to service. It was a genuine disappointment.

Very good food and service from a varied menu and a fabulous Thamesside location

I had a pain au chocolat with a coffee here and although the coffee was decent the pain au chocolat was a complete rip off for what you get. It was on a par with the ones you get from a packet in tescos. The place is looking a bit tired now compared to when I visited a year back so it could do with sole TLC. The service as very attentive though.

A lovely looking place, but unfortunately that's where the beauty ends. Form over substance. Bad tempered unpleasant staff, unclean crockery, cold food. A true lizard lounge, beautiful people on the outside, lizards in the inside!

Great place to meet up with friends. Tasteful decor. Young team of staff, friendly however a bit of training on correct handling of glasses would be worthwhile.

A very good dining experience by the side river view. A must go to place for anyone visiting Streatley near Reading in UK. Hot drinks were amazing.

I am not rating the floor experience, I am rating the fact that I had a booking at 15:30 and by 16:10 I was not on my table... We ordered medium burgers, medium steak and medium tuna... All came well done! We had stake and tuna redone and we kept the burger. All were tasty, also because of mistake, we had a discount on the bill. If we did not have to wait 40 minutes, the rating would be 4*

Great area, great service, but unfortunately the worst steak I’ve ever had

i will not be going back to this restaurant. My friend wanted her steak cooked medium rare, which is a common choice, the waiter refused and said they would only cook it rare or well done, she chose well done and it came rare. I ordered a pizza and asked if I could add chicken, they told me they could. Once the food came it was my pizza, with no chicken in it, just a side plate of large, unappetising pieces of chicken. I told them I ask for chicken on the pizza, they literally went and tipped the huge chunks of chicken onto the pizza. It was inedible, they should’ve just said they couldn’t add chicken in first place. They didn’t even attempt to slice the pizza and did not provide a sharp knife for me to be able to cut it. It was also soggy and far too oily. Staff not very friendly, had to ask for bill multiple times. Of course they automatically add an undeserved service charge on the bill. Avoid this restaurant.

The host and the waiters were absolutely lovely and could not fault them but unfortunately the food was quite honestly the worst I have ever had. The starter crispy squid; it wasn’t crispy and tasted like cheap flour. The beef pasta tasted like it was from a microwave and the 8oz steak and chips were cold and poor quality. Not what I expected from such a high priced restaurant I would definitely not recommend. I paid £100 overall for my girlfriend and I, the best thing we had was the wine.

Had an incredible dinner at Coppa Club with the most stunning Thames River views. The food was absolutely delicious - I especially enjoyed the fish cake and truffle fries. Our server, Carlos, was exceptional and made our experience even more memorable. Highly recommend!

Very disappointing caesar salad - limp, soggy leaves, about 4 super thin slices of radish, and swimming in dressing.

What an absolute gem this in. Located next to the Thames and extremely popular for weddings hence the car park was full and took a little while to get a space. However, once seated in the restaurant, the view was fabulous. The service was wonderful with a young, hip and enthusiastic team, and the food was top notch. We would definitely return and having visited on a hot and sunny day I am keen to visit closer to Christmas to see what changes they bring to the menu.

Waited to be seated, waited ages for drinks order to be taken, starters cleared whilst one person still eating, table behind us became a dumping ground for staff to put crockery cleared from tables. Service lacked friendliness and felt brusque. Feedback provided on the night to the manager and discount offered but as explained we had paid the bill and it wasn’t about the discount it was to provide feedback about staff
