Cook's in Scarborough

Was staying here, was gonna try this chip shop but wasn't open even though it was before 8pm. Ended up having to cook chips we brought from shop

If you have a car, it would be quicker to go to Scarborough or Bridlington, portion was poor and expensive. Price needs to reflect the cost, which it does not. Staff so slow, you feel that you want to help out Definitely not a place to visit again after first mistake 👎

Ordered 2 family meals and kids meals £72 and never got the 4 curry sauce. No phone number to call to talk to someone.!!!

Absolutely shocking food for the price, the potion size is not upto the standard of a independent shop for the same price.

In 2024 most decent restaurants can offer a gluten free alternative. I am on holiday and have little in the way of food options. Wetherby waler could teach you something about customer experience! Poor service!

Used their app to order food for an agreed collection time, on arrival, no collection point and a grunt from the girl on the till when I finally got someone’s attention. Then another wait on 10 minutes before shouting out the number. Lots of food on the hot plates so just think it’s lack of staff to cope with the orders (lack of staff is a theme all over the camp) the curry was very nice so 2 stars instead of one.

Order missing items. Quality bad - price high. Avoid this place!

Thought we’d use as quick easy dinner for the family. Had a 35 min wait. When we finally got back to eat our food, discovered one item of the order was missing and another was incorrect (a vegetarian given a meat pie). By this point we had waited so long we just needed to feed the kids so didn’t bother going back. Chips were not very good and portions very small (we ordered large chips, but was the same size as the kids portion). This was the first week of the summer holiday and didn’t even appear to be that busy. Won’t be using again.

Absolutely disgusting place at primrose valley. The staff were rude and miserable. They diddnt wear gloves and service was shocking. Wiping off sweat on their hands then serving food. The t cakes, were un cut and not buttered. They diddnt let us put our own condiments on and drowned the chips in vinegar which mu child could not then eat. Half went in the bin. The fish and chips were all frozen and horrible very greasy. Definitely not worth the price. Disgraceful , went to complain in reception got told it was an independent company. I paid ect 2 pound for rela fish and chips at Bridlington . Never going here again!! Needs shutting down. Won't be returning !

absolutely disgusting watied 40 mins for my food the chips were all burnt. asked for 2 chip butties the put both in one tray with a handful off chips. over priced over cooked they concentrated on delivery's more than a walk in the place needs shutting down or under new management

Cooks on Primrose Valley, waste of money. Cod overcooked and very dry. Chips undercooked, pale and tasteless. Definitely won't be ordering from there again! Had them delivered to the van because waiting time was ridiculous!

Popped in on our first day at primrose valley and it did not disappoint. I’ll definitely be going back! Gary was on fine form delivering the best(terrible) jokes to entertain the queue. Mia was on top of everything and made sure everyone was served and was aware of wait times. 110% the people you need in a business place! Thanks for the food and laughs. See you tomorrow 😂

The food was disgusting chicken. Nuggets over cooked the kids couldn't eat them same with sausages the cheesy chips there was no cheese on it was all over the paper very over priced all went in bin

Waited nearly 20 minutes for fish and chips, the lad serving was so slow, then served someone in the back their meal before the customers, there were 6 lots of customers waiting. He then came back took his hat off, wiped his sweaty brow with his bare hand and then continued to serve food. Honestly there's more from constipation than them but food fortunately was red hot and nice portion size

Only chips! Walked in to be told they only have chips because they close at 9pm. I queried that it was only 8:45, but wasn’t offered any other explanation. Pretty poor customer service, I feel that if the place shuts at 9pm, that should be when they stop serving, not when they walk out the door.

Lunchtime meal was not good. The fish we had were overcooked, and the chips were either overcooked or last night's warm up's. Maybe going mid opening times might have been better.

Terrible would not recommend! Service was so slow, chips tasted like they had been microwaved just disgusting. Pricing is all wrong especially when they have you stood forever to take your order and then another lifetime to get your food. Will be telling family and friends to avoid this place at all cost!

Awful!!! Totally avoid this place, charged me just under £7 for a bag of chips and a curry sauce for a tray of greasy chips half of which were inedible!!! Never again. Would have given it zero if I could!!!

Ordered cod bites and chips for myself and my partner we got scraps no fish what so ever, chips were frozen chips and full of grease ,my children had battered sausage and that too was awful everything went in the bin i think they have a cheek to charge what they do and I will definitely be taking my money elsewhere in future very disappointing 😞

The fish must be frozen as it’s in a triangular shape and the batter was mushy. Mushy peas were watery and bland. Chips were undercooked! Honestly the worst fish and chips we’ve ever had and for a seaside resort it is shocking. I agree with every review on here! Something needs to be done because they can’t keep serving food like that. We spent £50 and what a waste of money it was!

We have had hundreds of Fish & Chip meals over many years and what we were served here was by far the worst Fish & Chips we have ever had. The fish tasted very strange. It was very small but looked bigger due to the batter surrounding it. The taste of the batter was disgusting.

Possibly the worst fish chips I have ever had. The chips seamed like they were oven chips as some of the were burnt at the edges. The fish whilst fried looked and tasted like a piece of birds eye frozen fish you get at the supermarket. They had the cheek to charge £10 per portion. Visitors please take heed and avoid this take away. If you can drive into Filey for some properly cooked fish and chips.

Worse fish and chips I’ve ever tasted in my life! Batter thick and not cooked, fish dry with no taste and the chips…. Covered in black bits from dirty oil. Chips seemed frozen some were just full of oil when you ate them. Smelt of dirty oil too! What a waste of money! Wish I’d have read the reviews on here before wasting my money. Haven kick them out! Should change there name from Cooks to crooks!

My dad paid for takeout fish and chips for 6 of us it came to £55 expensive but as often caravan sites are, the problem was the fish was awful and the chips are frozen ones as we saw them taking them out of the freezer. Wouldn't order again, order takeout to be delivered to the caravan instead.

Service from staff - excellent Food - not great. Amount of chips received, well we had a lot left. Ordered 3 kids meals, adult fish and chips and adult sausage and chips. Sausages...meh, pretty average, exactly what i expected. The fish was over battered and goopy but somehow the fish itself was dry! For the price paid it is a total rip off!! Go into Filey or Bridlington and go to a random chippy for better food.

Grim quality when we ordered medium cod and chips with gravey and mushy peas. The batter was not cooked through and the chips were poor quality probably frozen. The mushy peas were bland. The gravey was quite nice. The cost was £23.94. This Is way too expensive even if the quality was first class. Having looked at previous feedback. Poor feedback has been the standard throughout 2021 one of which asked the question I have. Why have Cookes not reacted to the feedback. The general quality of the fish needs to be altered so the cooking process is more forgiving. Clearly the people staffing the outlet need to be better trained and procedures for cooking, including the temperature of the fryers and duration of cooking. The centre temperature check is not enough to ensure the batter is properly cooked through and chrispy. Not the very worst I have eaten, but very close. If the menu with the cost was posted where people could see before entering the shop. Many people would not buy.

It’s expensive, the for isn’t of good quality, I don’t think the staff are trained very well ,and you can get better for your money off site.

Absolutely disgusted at this place!!! Waited well over 20 minutes for food and because we didn't get to the counter instantly the man serving literally throw our food straight into the bit above the fryers so so it all come undone and then had the nerve to ask why we was saying something about it when the other man serving even said he'd seen him do it..disgusting behavior ...First time we've ever stayed on this site and can't believe the attitude..didn't even apologise and the food was freezing..wouldn't recommend at All!absolutely furious..First night here as well.not impressed!!

Had this on the last day of our holiday and it was disgusting. Dead chips with zero flavour, overcooked fish, and tasteless batter. Save yourself the money and go to Burger King or Papa John's, or get fish and chips when you are in town.

I Went to the chip shop on monday night after arriving at the caravan site i ordered fish bites and chips which cost around £8.50 the chips were average the 5 cod bites had very little batter on,the cod bites were no bigger than 1cm by 1cm if rate 0 stars but cant avoid them gp on this product must be huge DISGRACE!!!!!!

Fish were like oven chips, fish was as skinny as Bobby sands with dark brown thick batter, overpriced too, definitely give this a swerve.

Bought tea here yesterday for the whole family, the fish was beautiful and not too greasy at all, however the chips weren’t the best and also they forgot to add my sausage and chips so i ended up having just a chip butty. Convenient when staying in the caravan, however the 3 stars for the missing sausage and chips/ not very tasty chips! :) Ps- chicken nuggets are very tasty!😍

Spent £30 for a last holiday treat, chips tasted like frozen oven chips and the fish was disgusting, the battered sausage was burnt and the mushy peas were slap cold like they had just been taken out the fridge! Most of it went in the bin - lesson learned - avoid at all costs

Really dont even want to give 1 star!! Last treat of our holiday i ordered these to collect at 12.30, the order actually being ready was the only good point i have!! The chips tasted like frozen oven chips, the batter on the fish was so thick that when you bit into it the underneat, less cooked batter just turned to mush, ordered a buttered roll and got one of the diddy warburtons sandwich rolls which was also unbuttered and finally the portion of mushy peas were slap cold, like they had literally been taken out of the fridge. More or less all of it went in the bin, waste of £30!!

Absolute rip off cost us £20 for fish and chips twice with mushy peas. The fish appeared to have been cut in half and the chips were definitely frozen chips. You expect when buying from the coast they would be fantastic think again. Never again avoid at all cost !!!

The Yorkshire coast is known for its quality fish and chips. This place is awful and overpriced. Get in your car and go to Filey which is a few minutes away and has better fish and chips. Typical of a chain where they have a captive audience.

Very poor quality. The fish was not fresh, probably previously frozen and was overcooked. The chips were frozen too. If this place didn't have a captive audience and had to compete with other establishments it wouldn't last long.

Primrose Valley - a tad expensive but to be expected on a Haven site. Food was OK. Convient location next to all the facilities. Had wait for 20 mins and they had run out of trays, the lady serving had a serious attitude problem and definitely didn't know how to smile.

Went to cooks at primrose valley , given reciept with a number ... only ordered one bag of chips waited 20 minutes , over priced tasteless oven chips avoided the place rest of Holiday was very disappointing as fish and chips are a holiday favourite!
