Great place and loved the valentines cocktail

Brilliant bar the best bar we visited all day, great atmosphere, good entertainment just loved it we will be back.

Quirky bar selling mainly spirts and cocktails, live music at weekend

Stopped here for a nice rum and coke. Had a large selection of rums and other spirits and cocktails. Eclectic pub with colonial feel. Even had a secret disco room through some hidden doors.

Best place to go! And their manager claire is the best manager a bar can get, she was super helpful and friendly!

We were told about this place by my cousin who lives in Newcastle, and it didn't disappoint! We met for a couple of quiet drinks and a catch-up, with live music on a Sunday evening. The place is huge with so much to see and look at! We got served by 2 lovely ladies, then got seated. There were only about 8 people in when us 4 arrived, but the atmosphere was relaxed and chilled. There was a guy singing on a small stage playing an acoustic guitar, he was fantastic! We found out he's the regular Saturday night singer, bloody amazing! As we were sat, the 2 ladies kept coming round taking our drinks orders and bringing them to our table! The place soon filled up! A very homely feeling and somewhere I'll definitely go to again! I didn't get many photos as my phone died, but I highly recommend this place on a Sunday! Can't wait to visit again! Only had drinks, no food.

Was told about this place for an after dinner drink and live music. Very well decorated and cosy surroundings, bit of a gentleman lounge bar feeling. Great place to finish off the Sunday evening, and the singer on stage, Dave Lynas, was amazing and played quite a catalogue of music. Staff were coming around every so often to take drink orders, so they didn't even have to move. Massive selection of drinks and deals on cocktails too.

Stopped here for New Years Eve .. there for 1pm-1:30 ready for seeing in the new year .. was told we could sit anywhere for the rest of the day/night (we were a group of 10 adults .. all couples) lovely service from the wait and bar staff right up until approx 6pm (give or take a few minutes). we were told we had to leave our seating area because the table was reserved from 7 pm .. bare in mind, we were told we could sit anywhere for the evening .. when trying to get our point across, we were told we were aggressive and the managers would not listen and were told we lacked total disregard for their booking policy we were also told we were aggressive to other members of staff but only really had dealings with the 1 manager (at this point) the only other staff was a lovely young waitress that was doing table service .. but had we known the tables were booked from a specific time and we would have had to leave at such a late time of day we would have found somewhere else to go at 1pm, not at 6pm, when they decided to put a reserved note on the table .. very disappointed, to say the least, the lack of people skills and dreadful attitude from the 2 managers who totally refused to listen or even help us to find a solution .. in the end, their attitude was to get security and have us "escorted" out of the premises .. in all my 55 years, I've never had to be asked to leave any place because I'm aggressive .. I'm not interested in any rhyme or reason as to why their attitude is so bad or why they can't be decent people and help find a solution, but maybe extra training on people skills and a general consideration or empathy for our situation could have been a better approach .. apart from our terrible experience with the change over management on NYE, the place was lovely and relaxed, and the singers they had there were excellent, and up until that point, we were throughly enjoying ourselves .. Newcastle is one of the most amazing friendlier places we've stayed in, but suffice to say a visit back to this establishment is definitely not on the cards thanks to the management that took over the evening shift 😪

We visited New Years Eve, spoke to a wonderful Manager and asked if we could stay at the same seat all day as we knew we’d struggle to find a seat for the 10 of us together, some of our older crowd have significant disabilities. He agreed we could stay there all day at the same seat. There was a shift change of staff and the New Manager gave us 1 hour to vacate the seats, we tried to explain the situation to her, she cut off the conversation every time by saying your aggressive, it wasn’t being aggressive it was trying to get her to understand the previous agreement. This manager was so aggressive with her approach and had no concern that some of the group had disabilities, she even made a gist comments saying how old are you your past 60 so leave the premises. We were absolutely disgusted by her attitude and we will be making a formal complaint against her

Called in for drinks with company and had a fantastic time great bar with a great vibe and they have a fantastic array of drinks on offer my only criticism is they don't have the mixers to match.... ordering a double koku kanu with pineapple and served up savers pineapple juice with a premium spirit just doesn't cut the mustard I'm pleased I had my double captains reserve on the rocks £27 for 2 x doubles one without mixer and a bottle of beer you need to do better

Iv never witnessed poor bar service like this in my life,completely un professional,terrible attitudes and when I questioned the quality of drinks provided I got ignored. The manager then came over and shouted at me asking what my problem was and if I didn’t like it to leave. Fair to say I won’t be returning,neither will any of the fellow by standers that witnessed this also. Shame because the bar itself is nice and has good live music but the manager is in the wrong job.

Lovely bar just up from the Quayside and always a good place for a group to have drinks. We were in there on this occasion for around two and a half hours and really had a good night. One downside was one of the door staff. As we walked towards the door he went from leaning on the door and moved into the middle of the door making it hard to pass. We all said hello and asked how he was but were met with pretty much dead eyes. I was last in and he made sure his shoulder hit mine. Having been a doorman myself, this stupid and provocation behavior gives decent door staff a bad name. Maybe your management team need to make sure you vet your door staff better as we found this way out of line. Would I go back, yes, not stop going somewhere we enjoy for a sad little fella on a power trip. Happy to be contacted by the manager to elaborate.

Nuestra segunda visita aquí. Nuestra primera visita fue a mitad de semana y por la tarde. Tuvimos una hermosa mesa y disfrutamos de numerosos cócteles deliciosos. El ambiente tranquilo significaba que podíamos charlar fácilmente y disfrutar de nuestras bebidas. Esta visita fue un sábado por la noche, y fue absolutamente concurrida. Gran ambiente y música en vivo, que era bueno. Los cócteles eran igual de agradables. Los baños necesitaban un poco de atención durante nuestra visita. El piso de las damas estaba empapado. ¡Me alegro de llevar botas! Recomiendo encarecidamente el Bounty Bar Martini! Hay tantos bits raros y bots repartidos por ahí. Creo que podrías ver algo diferente incluso si vinieras todos los días durante un mes.

Chilled, quirky bar with good live music

We popped in for a couple of drinks and the service was excellent and the atmosphere was lovely just a little quiet (but was a Tuesday night). Overall a lovely visit

Hemos estado aquí un par de veces un viernes o sábado por la noche y el lugar suele tener un buen ambiente con música en vivo y una gran selección de cócteles. Desafortunadamente todas estas veces que hemos estado, el personal del bar sin experiencia nos ha decepcionado, lo que significa que tenemos la 1 bebida y nos vamos. Estábamos aquí este sábado recién salido, preguntamos por una margarita (picante) y un Zombie. La margarita estaba lejos de ser picante y no sabía a margarita, y mi cóctel zombi no terminó haciéndose ya que no tenían los ingredientes. Después de esperar de 15 a 20 minutos en el bar viendo a esta joven correr frenéticamente como una oveja perdida, corriendo de un lado a otro de nuestras copas a la lista de ingredientes del cóctel, pidiéndole a otro miembro del personal que la ayudara, otro hombre se hizo cargo de hacer mi cóctel, nuevamente mirando la lista de ingredientes constantemente. El cóctel de mis compañeros terminó unos 10 minutos antes que el mío. Él llegó al final de hacer mi bebida, poniendo (creo que fue una fruta de la pasión) pero luego sacándola de nuevo procediendo a preguntar a otro miembro del personal sobre cómo hacerla. Finalmente dejé de esperar, tomé la bebida y me fui. No regresaré. Personal sin experiencia en un ajetreado sábado por la noche donde espera 20 minutos para un cóctel. Les di suficientes oportunidades ahora.

I went here with two friends yesterday evening, the atmosphere is great, they had good live music on, the staff were friendly and the decor is lovely. We had drinks there and stayed for a few hours until they closed. Would definitely recommend it.

Went in for some drinks with my partner and was pleasantly surprised by the great live music and interior of the place. Staff are brilliant and even provide table service and we was given complimentary popcorn :) A lovely chill evening and really enjoyed the cheap martinis!

Went on a very busy Saturday night when everyone was drinking only. Will have to go another time when people are eating and drinking.

Wow, wow, wow!!! This place is just astonishing. My first time visiting here today and I love it. The decor is beautiful with a good combination of lighting, plants and quirky furniture. The staff were lovey and so helpful and I had the most delicious cocktail ever which was a happy ever after. This was followed up by a strong but not forgotten which was delicious also. I would strongly recommend this place for a good drink and it offers sessions to attend cocktail making classes.

We absolutely loved this bar. It's the first time we have visited and we will definitely be going back. We had family up from down south, and we had been showing them different bars around Newcastle, so we had a drink in each, but this bar is the only one that we decided to stay in. They had a live singer on unfortunately I can't remember her name but she's in my photos and she made the atmosphere fantastic. Keep up the good work.

Can’t help but rate this quaint little pub 5 stars, although me and the partner did not get to try the food, we really enjoyed the vibe and whole essence of the place. One bartender in particular Robert was very accommodating with his expertise in the craft of cocktail making he made our experience whole.

Went out for a girly family day and started off in Colonel Porters based off a recommendation. It was a lovely atmosphere, the staff were really nice and the drinks were great quality. We are planning to come back for tipsy tea.

We often come here on Saturday afternoons. Lovely bar, great cocktails and good service. Only thing that lets it down is the volume of the live music. It’s soooo loud, makes it very hard to talk to friends. Turn it down a bit and this place would be perfect.

I stumbled upon this unique place tonight when I was with friends - thinking it was just another bar before I entered I was amazed by the interiors and feel of the place. I felt like I’d stepped into a sailor’s 1800’s vortex - I LOVED IT! Ordering a Spicy margarita and a Orange Margarita (Margarita Mondays) they were brilliant and so we later ordered a second drink (more margaritas!) The bar wasn’t too busy with a chilled vibe about the place, with an attentive bar lady named Emma- was perfect for a casual Monday drink. Think I have found my new favourite bar! Affordable, good location, tasty and unique atmosphere 10/10.

We popped in on Saturday afternoon for a couple of drinks, we got a cocktail from the menu “Singapore Sling” sat back down and it had an overwhelming taste of gingerbread, I spoke to a staff member who said he would take it away, a few moments later I presume the manager or assistant manager came over to our table and said the drink is correct and just looked at me as if to say that is that, no offer of an apology or refund or another drink, I just looked and thought ok?… then I went to the bar and ordered half a beer and the same person served me and looked at me and charged me £3.20 for the drink. Need coaching in customer service. A change of drink would have sufficed.

Amazing bar, amazing atmosphere, harming back to the history of the British empire. Drinks are reasonably priced, and there is a good selection. There is regular live music which adds to the atmosphere. I highly recommend you stop off for a drink and a look around this fascinating venue.

Decent music and nicely decorated place but the price of the drinks were another level of extortion, this is after being charged £10 pp just for entry. One round for 4 people was costing £50! Just for double rums!

I had a wonderful time at Colonel Porter's Emporium, a 1920s-themed restaurant and bar on Dean Street. The place is full of charm and character, with a botanical garden, a secret disco, a rhum and gin bar, and a tavern of wonders. The staff were very friendly and attentive, and the food and drinks were delicious. I especially enjoyed the vintage cocktails and the lobster. The atmosphere was lively and fun, and I felt like I was transported to another era. I would highly recommend Colonel Porter's Emporium to anyone looking for a unique and memorable experience in Newcastle.

It was a great time in there with my work colleagues. The beer was great and the live act played my favourite Green Day tracks to cap the night off.

Very busy and loud, service was slow but to be expected on a Friday night, good vibes but not everyone's cup of tea.

First visit. The cocktails are canny as long as it is on 2 for £12, otherwise a bit pricey. Some local craft beers on tap would have been nice.

Update 21/11/23 weekends have become so fun here since live musics started. Dance floor is so much better here for the mint music and intimate settings. Tunes after acts are done are mint too. We were dancing till 1am I think! Hope Tim Gambles is brought back more, he's something special! Brilliant open mic night here on Tuesdays. Lush staff and brilliant service. The pictures speak for themselves - the vibe here is excellent, quirky and interesting. Great playlist too. Think mid week evenings here will become a regular for me - felt so relaxed here. Recommend!

Colonel porter's emporium is a great place for a drink and catch up good service but very noisy on a weekend as is all of Newcastle but we'll worth a visit steep walk back up the hill to city centre well worth a visit especially Monday to Thursday.
