Had high hopes based on reviews etc, however after visiting for Sunday lunch I was left somewhat disappointed. Chicken dinner was served with no roast potatoes, the chicken was cooked about 15 mins too long and there was enough red cabbage on the plate for 3 dinners. This then made everything else taste of red cabbage. The gravy had the consistency of weak tea and left the dinner swimming in translucent goo. The 3 sliders were nice, but a little dry and small for the price and the small amount of chips served needed another 5 minutes in the fryer. All this coupled with chairs which almost fell to pieces when you only thought about sitting on them left me wondering what we nearly paid 50 quid for 2 dinners for. The beer was excellent though.

We waited nearly 90mins for the food but fair play to them they knocked 20% off the bill because of this. When the food did arrive it was great, fantastic burger, one of the better I have had in and around Newcastle. Whist waiting for to sample a fair bit of the varied beer many and all was good, nice selection covering most tastes. Enjoyed it, would go back.

Went there on a Saturday evening and it was quite busy. If you want to eat here on the weekend I definitely recommend booking a table. We went there for a drink and it was lovely. They have a great selection of beers and drinks. It has a great atmosphere and the decoration is very special but suits the place very well.

Food was good but our experience was blighted when things went wrong. Some of our Sunday lunches were served cool and one did not arrive. Ok things can go wrong, but tables are pre-booked, they know what’s coming, and Sunday lunches are not cooked to order. They are precooked and assembled before service. I have no problem with this in principle but mention it because it should have been easy to deliver the missing meal swiftly after being told. However, it took 30+ minutes to deliver the missing order and, by then everyone else in the party had finished even through several meals went back for a reheat. Basically, they did not put the initial problem right in terms or customer service. A glass of wine was not charged to a booking of 8 people. Not a very good response and one of a party of 8 had nothing to eat. This was our first visit, recommended by friends and it is evidently popular place. The food quality was good but apart from 3 chilly servings and one missing meal.

Fantastic hidden gem. The staff are all wonderful, friendly and helpful. Food was amazing and they cater for everything, vegan, gluten free (which can be hard to find) vegetarian, and us regular eaters. They have a brilliant range of ales and beers they are definitely worth trying out, they are happy to give you a taste before you buy any pints. Really is worth a visit if you ever that way down the Ouseburn 🙂

Had to wait a long time for the food to appear. My daughter went to the bar to see where it was, when she got back to the table outside unbelievably the food turned up, complained to the staff about it, they said it was just a coincidence, told them it was not. My daughter said the food was waiting outside the kitchen to be taken to the tables.

Attended Mothers day 10th March 2024 in a party of 17, table booked 2 weeks in advance, meals all pre ordered 3 days before. On arrival we were left standing at the door way no one came to greet us. Once seated we waited 40 mins for drinks, starters took an hr. Mains took almost 2 hrs and that was after we complained, my young grandson had to wait an additional 20 for his meal. The food once we got it was mediocre at best. No condiments on table, no soup spoon and had to ask for gravy. Desserts were also pre ordered and we waited an extra 30 mins for those to arrive, with one missing. Staff outside main entrance smoking/vaping some still in kitchen whites NOT A GOOD SIGN. First time booking and it will be the last. I complained to manager and i will say in his defence he done the right thing when our bill arrived.

This place has a great chilled out vibe. Food is usually great but I chose fish and chips which proved to be a bad choice, very little fish in the batter, that said my husband had a burger which he said was delicious. We were also told when ordering a desert that a 10% service charge is added to all food, we werent told this when ordering mains and couldnt find anything about it on the menu. The Brinkburn is always a joy to visit, and it's absolutely one of my favourite pubs in Newcastle. Great food, menu, and excellent choice of drinks. Could only fault the food for serving boiled potatoes rather than crispy roast potatoes with our Sunday Lunch. Table service could be better. We were expecting to be asked if we wanted desert but no one came. The food we had was excellent (although the photos don't really do it justice) and the beer choice was off the scale with samples available on request. Atmosphere was amazing, noisy but not so loud you couldn't talk. Tables and chairs were 'rustic' but comfortable and the artwork was 'local' and available to purchase. Sunday lunch at this establishment offered a pleasant setting, although there were some service issues that need attention. While the host was welcoming, they simply pointed to our table (Table 15) in the corner, and two other couples were served before us, even though we had arrived earlier. It almost felt like we had an invisible bubble around us. After waiting for about 10 minutes, I had to go to the bar and enquire about how to order food since we were not given any guidance. The beef dish we ordered was indeed delicious, but unfortunately, the cauliflower, broccoli, and carrots were undercooked, as evidenced by the sound of other customers struggling to cut through them with their knives. To their credit, when I provided feedback about the vegetables, a staff member courteously apologised. We are willing to give this place another chance in the hope that these issues will be addressed. Parking is difficult when busy as most of the streets around are permit holders only. We had to park two streets away and walk which wasn't much of an inconvenience.
