I’ve been to this pub a few times before and always enjoyed their homemade skin-on chips, so I was looking forward to a good meal. Unfortunately, today’s experience was a huge letdown. I visited with two friends and ordered a burger (£15.50—not exactly cheap). Instead of the homemade chips I’d had before, it arrived with cheap, skinny fries, and the coleslaw listed on the menu was missing. When we asked the waiter about it, he bluntly told us they had run out. Fair enough, but I still paid full price for a meal that wasn’t as advertised. When I raised my concerns, the waiter was clearly annoyed. He offered me a drink (which I declined) and then said I could get a refund for the coleslaw at the bar. When we finished eating and went to the bar, we were told we’d get £1 back. To top it off, the girl at the bar tried to insist she had informed us they had run out of fries—yet none of the three of us had heard that. At least she apologised, which is more than I can say for the waiter. The beef brisket in the Reuben burger was dry, and to make matters worse, we had to wait at least five minutes after getting our food just to receive cutlery. The whole experience felt disorganised and unprofessional. Wouldn’t eat here again, which is a real shame as we had planned to come back for Sunday lunch. Safe to say we’ll be going elsewhere.

One of the cosier micro brewery taps. Usually in cold industrisl units. Paulicarus brought us on a 5 minute walk from The Free Trade Inn to this old unassuming industrial area. Enter and descend a floor to the large one room bar area and kitchen. ( plus a small games room.) Lots of craft ale choice plus 6 real ales on handpump. Had the 4% Brinkburn Quayside blond; tried both craft fizz and real ale. Prefer the later. Very refreshing. Sunday roast menu (£15.50) looks good but this is a Thursday lunch and we had a late breakfast. Surprisingly large beer garden took us by surprise. Lovely visit.

Been here a few times over the last few years and haven't been dissapointed before but today wasn't great at all, the service was fine, everyone was super friendly and helpful but firstly they mixed up the order for 2 of us meaning the small meal was lamb and large meal was pork which wasn't the right way around, my sister and her partner just ate them as they didn't want to hassle the staff by sending it back, the mashed potato was probs the worst I have ever had, it had massive chunks of potato in it so was like a boiled potato/mash hybrid! The portion was smaller than I remembered too, me and my aunt got the nut roast which was very very dry and the 'roast potatoes' was one small boiled baby potato each. I'm so sad as I usually love this place, the beer is amazing, cushty cush is my fave and always goes down well, I brought my aunt from the USA for a proper Sunday roast and we were all very dissapointed, please go back to how you did the food before, it was so amazing!

I’ve visited Brinkburn several times and never had any issues, but I’d never tried Sunday dinner before. I pre-booked via the website, 2 & 4pm weren’t available so I opted for 6pm. It was fairly late but I thought we’d not have any issues. Upon arriving we were shown to our table, nothing was mentioned by them and then another guy appeared at our table and asked if we’re ready to order only to tell us there was no mash, Yorkshire puddings and something else. This made having a Sunday roast absolutely pointless as you wouldn’t have half the menu, he was really dismissive and basically said oh well there’s burgers! I didn’t come for a burger, it left us with the no choice. I walked out. I understand these things happen, it had clearly been busy, but nobody bothered to call or notify me. I absolutely wasted my time getting there and the lacklustre way they dealt with the situation was that they basically didn’t care so I’m not sure I’ll be back.

Kids burger was rather like an ice hockey pucks. Couldn’t cut nor bite. I told them not to bother before they lose their teeth. Cumberland “mummified” sausage was probably cooked and left in the oven for prolonged period(since 300 B.C). It almost looked like a treat stick my cat eat. Table service non existence, yet they are happy to collect 10% service charge which I thought was April Fool’s Day joke.

Overall Bad. There was zero customer service. When the waiters took our order they were blunt and unfriendly, which came across very rude. Our Sunday dinners arrived with veg that was not on the menu with no roast potatoes. The food did not look at all like other photos and was just all piled on the plate like mush. I’d pay £5 for the Sunday dinner not £15.50. We were never asked how our food was or if we were happy with everything so we didn’t have a chance to speak to anyone until after we asked for the bill. After we payed the waiter grunted and walked off, no thank yous or goodbyes or have a nice evening. All staff we encountered need serious customer service training. Cannot understand how or why they have a job in a customer service role. They absolutely loved themselves and were focussing more on acting cool than waiting on our table. Would not recommend.

We usually eat here aswell, the burgers were always great. You can actually see straight into the open kitchen and see food being prepared. One of the lads had blue hygiene gloves on but was constantly using his phone. The beer this visit was absolutely shocking, after having 3 tasters at the bar I had one that I have had a few times before. Even this was bad. Didn't even drink half of it, and just left . They have certainly lost my business for good. A shame because it was always an excellent place for both food and the beer.

Visited for the first time for a Sunday lunch. The bar was very cool and retro with good vibes and the service was ok-ish. Outside garden area was less impressive with flimsy chairs crammed around big tables in a small space. Was a bit disappointed with our Sunday roast. The food arrived probably less than 10 minutes after we ordered (as it's pre-prepared) before we had even received our drinks, which was a little off-putting. The roast was ok, felt a little bit like a school dinner with three boiled potatoes instead of roasted ones and slightly overcooked meat (to their credit the Yorkshire pudding was good). I ordered a Bloody Mary to drink and received a sort of slushy weird tasting drink that I wouldn't have guessed was a Bloody Mary if I hadn't known! Was also pricier than expected for a mediocre experience and we left feeling slightly robbed. I'd probably recommend sticking to beers and bar food and forgoing the cocktails and Sunday roasts if you do go.

Great place in Ouseburn. Cool vibe. Great drinks selection. Lovely food - burgers are amazing and the chips are probably the best I’ve had of any pub in the UK. Top music playlists. Retro chintzy furniture and decor. Everyone who’s ever served me has been sound, hipsterish kinda vibe. Love coming here - favourite place in the Toon ✌🏼

Very busy the Saturday afternoon we visited. Great atmosphere, staff understandably under pressure. Food was well presented, tasty and great value too.

Just had a brilliant wedding here. Got married at the venue then had a fantastic 3 course meal for 46 guests. The young staff were so helpful and nothing was a bother to them. If you want a place that is a bit funky and different I recommend this venue. The Chef was brilliant. Food piping hot and gorgeous. Our photographer had a great day taking photos at this venue. Thank you for a wonderful wedding day.

I've been to Brinkburn prior to tonight and decided to take my mother who was visiting us for the weekend out for some food. Unfortunately, there was a little mixup with the food order and the kitchen hadn't received our order, maybe due to how busy it was, that meant we were waiting over an hour and 20 min for our food. The staff member who brought our food was really great and offered us a free round to make up for the mix-up which we really appreciated (and needed after the wait lol) The food itself was really tasty and I'd definitely recommend a visit for both drinks and food but maybe during less busy times to ensure they don't forget your order!!

Booked this as a fathers day /grandfathers day gift from our grown up kids Our son joined in on this too They throughly enjoyed the 3 taster beers and the tour of the Brewery They said it was very interesting and very informative and would recommend it to all their friends to do it too or it was suggested as a works event for all the male members of staff We didn’t order food but the menu sounded really nice and good value for money

Great tour, guide (the boss), beer and lunch. Entertaining brief on the history of beer by one of the most passionate owners I've met.

The Reuben burger is normally my go to, but the hot mess is a very close second. This place do great food, but the burgers are what I tend to go for as a pre cluny gig treat. The burgers are served medium rare and made to order and you can tell, as a recent burger convert, I am now addicted. The loaded fries are also not to be missed. Great range of beers as you would expect and friendly service, very laid back and chilled atmosphere, perfect for an after work treat to melt the stress away. See you soon!

I went to Costa in Gosforth Shopping Centre on Saturday 29th March with my two kids. What happened there was honestly one of the worst experiences I’ve had in public. My son, who’s autistic, started having a meltdown. He pushed my coffee off the table, started scratching me, biting me, throwing things. I tried calming him down, gave him my phone, nothing worked. So I took him outside for a bit to change the environment. I stayed near the entrance where I could still see my daughter through the glass eating her food. We were still inside the shopping centre, just outside Costa. After a while it got worse. I went back inside and told my daughter we needed to leave. I asked the staff if I could have a plastic cup for my coffee. The woman gave it to me. While I was trying to handle everything and hold my son, he kicked the empty cup off the counter. I apologised. I was clearly struggling. She just stood there. No one moved. I asked for a paper bag. She gave me one. I asked for another. She gave that too. Still no offer to help. No one said anything. My daughter had to help me pack the food. She’s nine. I was carrying my son while he was scratching me and biting me. I didn’t even realise I was bleeding until I got to the car. My hand was bleeding and no one in that place did anything to help. Nothing. There were at least two or three staff there. They saw everything. Not one of them moved. Not one person said “Do you need help?” or “Can I make you another coffee?” or “Can I pack that for you?” Nothing. Just cold. Just silence. People watched. Some acted like they couldn’t hear. Others just sat there staring. I cried in the car. Not because of my son. I’m used to managing his needs. I cried because of how I was treated. Or not treated. Just ignored. And yeah, it made me wonder. Is it because I’m Black? Is it because I’m African? Was that part of it? Because that’s how it felt. Like I wasn’t worth helping. Like I didn’t exist. I never go to this branch. I usually go to the one in Team Valley, Gateshead. The difference is massive. In Team Valley they actually help. They speak. They care. My son has never had a meltdown like that there. Maybe he senses the energy. Maybe they just act like human beings. The way I was treated in Gosforth was disgusting. Costa, this is not okay. You need to look at your staff. You need to train them better. Or just remind them how to be decent human beings.
