Disappointing Tipsy Tacos. Although the server Gabby was polite she was very slow with drinks at one point we had to go searching to get more drinks and then she only poured half glasses…. Leave the bottle is the key. The Tacos and Nachos were also tasteless. Lovely bar and great music though.

Great bar both inside & out. Good food available all week with a Taco Tuesday special but for me the combo of Sunday Roast, a few cold beers & great staff is the best. Great value 2/3 course options. Excellent

We were stopping in the Cairn hotel and went for a couple of drinks on Friday evening and had a really lovely mexican meal. 2 starters and 2 mains for £48 not the cheapest but plenty. Only downfall was it would have been nice to have plain fries instead of House Seasoned Fries just too much spice going on. Lovely and hot and quick turnaround. Staff were all pleasant however tended to serve the young people rather than us middle aged dinasaurs lol.

Lauren and Tyla were the most outstanding example professionalism, and easy on the eyes. Bottomless brunch was fantastic and would highly recommend.

Tyla and Lauren were absolute stars, 10/10 service, so lovely and friendly. Pints, chit chat and good people

A big group of us went for Tipsy Tacos - good food and good drinks. Tyla, who was looking after us, was great - very friendly and on the ball with the drinks. Would recommend!

We were visiting our son in. Jesmond. From the moment we walked in, we felt welcome . We hadn't booked a table. We were shown to a table. The Sunday lunch was beautiful, and the Yorkshire pudding was huge. The staff were friendly. I would definitely recommend this place. Also, next time we visit our son, we will be back. Thank you 😊

We had tipsy tacos on Saturday afternoon. The sun was shining and we were asked as soon as we arrived if we would like to sit outside. Our table was moved for us so we could enjoy the sun. The nachos starter was amazing so full of flavour and beautifully presented. We had drinks as soon as we sat down. Our orders were taken for our mains and they arrived quickly, they were amazing. We thought by sitting outside that we may have been forgotten about but that was absolutely not the case. As soon as we were near the end of our drink, there was another there for us! The service in this place is impeccable, our waitress Krissa (so sorry if that is the incorrect spelling) was outstanding, such a lovely lady. The rest of the staff were really great as well. Churros for desert we’re delicious! When it got a bit colder outside, our table was moved inside with no hassle. Can’t wait to come back. Thank you for such a lovely day!

First time here and what a cracking find.....Nice bar....friendly staff and nice slug of Merlot!

Ive been coming here for years. Always enjoy a roast here. Very accomodating for a seat by request when booking for a TV view for the Football, I feel well looked after by the staff as well, which is a nice touch.

A few days ago I enquired about the Sunday roast lunch and was told they stopped serving at 5pm .I did not think I could be there before 5.15/30 pm and asked it they could hold the meal until then. The standard response would have been very sorry blah,blah,blah. However the young woman (Cristos is I believe her name) went and spoke to the Chef and managed to get my meal delayed. The meal itself was perfect the meat was soft and tender and full of taste ,the potatoe, parsnips and yorkshire pud was also spot on . This was a surprise as having lived abroad for many years I have never been overly impressed with UK cooking. The Brits have many strengths but cooking I have never thought as being one of them ,so congrats all round. Back to the young woman Cristos not only was she very helpful on that occasion, but on others I have observed that when the bar is busy she serves and delivers drinks with the grace and speed of a Gazelle, her productivity if measured is probably twice that of any other staff (and they are no slouches ). Also thanks to Paul the barman who first recommended the Sunday lunch to me . Overall the bar has a very nice atmosphere ,the decor at first you think you have walked into a sports bar with all the screens dotted around but they in turn are surrounded by what looks like a library stolen from some country mansion, even now it brings a wry smile to my face. So yeah I like the place, all the staff are well motivated and helpful, but the jewel in the crown is Cristos whatever you are paying her double it. Regards Bob Brett

Really nice food and friendly staff

Myself and my four housemates were very much looking forward to eating here for a Sunday lunch after hearing great reviews from friends. However we were thoroughly disappointed. At first everything was fine, as we were quickly served tap-water and the drinks we ordered as well as ordering food within the first ten minutes of being there. Unfortunately though, after over half an hour of waiting for food, there was still no sign and one of my housemates went to the bar to ask how long it would take. The waitress assured us it was just being ‘plated up’ and would be with us within ten minutes. This was not the case, as another half hour later we had still not received our food and had to ask again! Ten minutes after that we finally received our five meals, however it had been well over an hour since we had ordered them and all we got was a brief ‘sorry’ from the waiter; not very apologetic at all! They gave some excuse that we had been behind a table of twelve and the kitchen was ‘backed up’, but one only had to look around to see the place was half full! On top of this, the meals were lukewarm (when one would expect them to be piping hot for the length we had to wait), one of the meals was missing parsnips, the vegetarian meal didn't come with a Yorkshire pudding, there was barely any gravy and the beef was rather tough. We weren’t asked at the end how our meals were so we didn’t get to convey these complaints, and it seemed as if the staff knew how poor it was as they were avoiding us like the plague. Originally we were going to stay for desert, but after the slow service and quality of food we decided to go elsewhere, especially since we received no offer of compensation for the wait. We are students and in future will spend our scarce money elsewhere for a roast as this experience was quite frankly abysmal.

Great drinks and service happy hour cocktails are well worth it

Great venue for bank holiday cocktails and food! Very reasonably priced and 2 for £12 on a huge range of cocktails ☺️ the food was unreal! we were sat in the corner with a TV which was great for showing the football, but the speaker blaring music was far too loud for us to have a proper conversation and did take a couple of requests to turn it down a little. But it didn't spoil our night. Beef tacos were tasty and fresh, frozen margaritas were amazing and zesty! Not watered down like most places!

Very disappointing. Lamb used to be fantastic but not offered now. The beef was tough and full of gristle and veg not particularly tasty. This mixed with the awful smell of drains didn’t make this a very pleasant experience. Shame as this used to be a first class Sunday lunch.

Great place, good cocktails, chilled atmosphere. Plenty of lovely staff so minimal waiting at the bar. Worth visiting.

One of the few pubs in Jesmond's Osbourne Road that sells real ale. Their normal selection is Wainwright's and Tyneside Blonde. Usually well kept. Comfortable surroundings and enough people in at teatime for a good atmosphere.

Went with some friends for the tipsy tacos last weekend and it was great! Food was lovely and there was plenty (some brunch places serve barely any food), we loved the nachos especially. We had Ava serving us and she was amazing, it was quite busy and we thought we’d have to wait a while between drinks but Ava sorted us out with bottles for the table, it was great and she got us everything we needed with no problems and was lovely to chat to as well. Will definitely be back:)

Went on Saturday night with large group, although it was particularly busy staff made a conscious effort to to be attentive to our party. Food was more than reasonable and tasted good. Brilliant table service from the tall blond girl who made our evening and recommended some lovely cocktails which we throughly enjoyed. Nice to see such a relaxed atmosphere in the busy hustle and bustle of Osborne Road. Will definitely be returning very soon :)

where do I begin.... writing this review while I watch the rest of my party enjoy their food, while I wait for mine. Originally ordered the Cod Tacos, was told after 25 minutes that they had run out. Then ordered the pork belly tacos, waited another 10 minutes before I was informed these were not available either. Have settled on the chicken. Everyone else's food looks nice. I would ask them if this is true, but I can't hear them over the blaring music coming from the speakers throughout the establishment so won't bother. When first arriving, we were greeted by a miserable security guard who pointed at our table (which we had pre booked for a birthday party of 12). We then waited half an hour to order drinks, which when they arrived, we found some of the straws had already been used as they were chewed on the end. Plates from our starters were not cleared after we finished them, so have shoved them in a pile in the middle of the table. My food has finally arrived. It is luke warm, but quite tasty. I will say, the rice it came with is incredibly salty, to the point it tastes pickled. I think it may have come from a microwave packet. If you just want to come for drinks, might be okay, but don't waste a trip here on a special occasion. Much better places on Osbourne Road to visit. Don't waste your time and avoid if possible.

Popped in for an hour or so after dinner next door at Sohe. The music from the DJ created a good vibe and appropriate chill for early evening. Thanks

Amazing! We had the Tipsy Tacos bottomless brunch on New Year’s Day and they did not disappoint. Lovely servers, fabulous food, amazing DJ and OMG the churros!!! 😋😋😋 we will be back!

We’ve had Sunday dinner here before & it was amazing again .Beautifully cooked , I had the lamb my fiancé had the chicken & all finished off with sticky toffee pudding , to die for . Just amazing tastes , great service from all the lovely staff , we had a bottle of wine too . Thank you we would recommend 5 ⭐️ x

Nice food. Ery decently sized nachos. We ordered it as a starter but could have easily had it as a main. Burger was delicious as well and well presented. Delicious chips. Watched the England game and staff were vert friendly on a super busy shift. I would go again.

Amazing food, great service and quality venue! They have some great burgers and starters, the platters are substantial and very fairly priced. Staff has always been very friendly and timely, regardless of how busy the place was. It has a nice outdoor terrace and some cosy indoor tables, the atmosphere is great. One of my favourite spots in Jesmond, probably in Newcastle too. Highly recommend it!

We had a table booked for 7.45 last night. There was 6 of us. They sat us in 2 couches, with a really low table, and 2 tall chairs placed around the table. We asked whether we could be moved to a proper table suitable for eating at. We were told “will see what we can do”. Other people arrived and were given the tables suitable for eating, even though they weren’t eating! We ordered drinks, they took absolutely ages to come. 3 of us ordered piña colada’s, and honestly they tasted horrible. There was no coconut nor pineapple flavour. One of us questioned the waiter what was in the drinks, he assured us they were piña colada’s. We said that we didn’t like them, and that they tasted strange. He just shrugged and walked off. Food took an absolute age too. Starters were really nice, but the burgers were like slop. We ordered different drinks as we didn’t like the ones we had. We had finished the food by the time they came! After the food one of us asked for a baileys coffee, to be told the coffee machine had been turned off 🙄. Asked for just a baileys on its own. 25 mins later no sign of it. We asked what was taking so long, and the waitress went back to the bar. 10 mins later we were told there was no baileys!! Having visited this place numerous times in the past, we were so disappointed with it. Not sure what’s happened but the cocktails are rubbish. Taste like wetherspoons premixed rubbish, and at £7/£8 each, it’s really overpriced. They used to sell proper cocktail bar cocktails. As for the food, the menu was tiny. Worst of all for us was the service. No apologies, no nothing. A £170 bill, which came instantly after asking for it 😂 fastest thing all night!! So disappointing from somewhere we used to love.

Staff were great, came and took drinks orders as soon as we were getting low. The waiter with the green hair gets a special shout out he was so welcoming and funny. I wish I had tried the savoury churros, I was gagging for them but had already ate. Very clean toilets and plenty of them

Cocktails today were absolutely gorgeous. First day out in over a year and we were not disappointed. Will be back again very soon.Thank you to the staff. 👏👏

The best food & service we have had in a long time. The staff were all so polite and friendly and despite having a small issue with the order, they went above and beyond to make sure this was sorted and we got a free drink in the mean time. Food was absolutely delicious also & we can’t wait to visit again soon!

The cocktails were a good size and so tasty and good for money. The pina collada was my favourite. Also, the staff were so welcoming and nice and even the bouncers were very nice. Big nice outdoor seating and drinks came fast. Food was a good portion and would definitely return

Really nice place and settings. In terms of food, we only had starters. The chips and sweet fries were lovely. The cheesy/pork churros were lovely although we couldn’t taste any pork. The tekena Merlot red wine was absolutely lovely, it’s a must try. Overall great experience and will be back again.

Cocktails were great! Gutted they didn't have cream for a Pina Colada. Service was slow. Had to ask 3 times for tap water before receiving it. Got kicked off our table 15 minutes before the time I had booked it for. Couldn't be bothered to argue so just left and wandered around until it was time for our booking at Fat Hippo. I was only in Jesmond as the Fat Hippo in the city centre wasn't taking bookings. I wouldn't go out of my way to go here and would probably try somewhere else over returning if I was that way. But I wouldn't not go back... It was okay 🤷

Me and me friends had such a good evening - even with Covid managed to get a table reserved and our server was so helpful and friendly. Alex managed to find extra space for our friends and went well out of her way to help us, easily the best service I’ve had in jesmond for ages

We’d tried the new menu while in the bar prior to lockdown 2 and really enjoyed it so thought we’d order it in. We were not disappointed!The tacos were great again and the cheese & bacon burger was fantastic. Would highly recommend the chilli fries- taste great and a great portion size. Finished off with the churros which were superb!Will be ordering again very soon!

Came here with some friends for a few drinks. We were greeted at the door by an aggressive and hostile bouncer. Me and my friend went outside for a few minutes and when we went back inside my friend had forgotten her mask and used her jacket as a face covering instead. This was not good enough for the bouncer as he shut the door in my friends face following with ‘it’s just one of those things’ and forced me to go retrieve her mask from inside. We understand that by law masks are required indoors in hospitality venues and that is not the companies fault. However, this extreme enforcing of the rules and lack of common sense from the bouncer set a negative tone to our evening. Surely it is within his interest for us to want to come out and drink at this establishment? It’s such a shame as the drinks and service inside was fantastic all night. It was almost faultless. They even moved us to another table when we requested a booth instead. So thanks for that and the lovely drinks.

I’ve been to 97 social twice and each time the drinks have been really good but one of the bouncers has put me off going again. He was very aggressive and intimidating both times I’ve been and I didn’t feel comfortable being around him

Come for the roast, stay for the roast

Very good cocktails and helpful nice kind staff. Very cosy inside. Toilets need a bit warm water during winter because you can freeze your hands. Parking can be a bit tricky. Better to go there by taxi. Outside seating is lovely during summer. Tuesdays all mains and cocktails are halfprice. For about 15 pounds you can have 2 mains and 2 good coctails. Very good value for money. Probably my favourite place in Jesmond.

Great bar often busy with uni folk, bar staff knew their beers, a good selection on tap & cocktail menu. A few screens around for sport. Some comfy sofas, a larger bar stool table and several large booths. Food is Thai inspired from restaurant next door and is VERY good!

Cheap cocktails during happy hour, mature flavours at some Student prices (bogof at 6.50) on Osbourne road - ideal for pre-session, professional drinks
