Went here at 16:00 for a coffee and some cake only to be told all cakes on display were frozen ready for the next day. So we had one option out of everything we could see. What’s the point of staying open until 17:00 if you can’t offer what’s on the shelf!

This espresso experience at this atrocious coffee shop was about the worst I have had in all my fairly long life. These chains expect you to pay good money in exchange for some often mediocre product with quite often an even lower level of customer service. Coffee #1 in Hereford just beggars belief !!! I asked for an extra hot flat white and a double espresso, with a polite request to first pre-heat both cups. Ignoring my request, (I am just a customer after all) what came up was a flat white of just about an acceptable quality, but the espresso was an unmitigated disaster. A tiny coffee (smaller than other branches of the same brand) in a large ambient temperature cup – basically tepid before it reached the pass. When questioned why serve an espresso in a very large cup just got an abrupt answer that they didn’t have any espresso cups. (They just didn’t seem to think that mattered) So, we have a tepid coffee in a large cup. Clearly the staff couldn’t give a sh*t about the atrocious level of service they expected to be paid for. If you are running a hospitality venue and you claim to be #1 in that market not having correct cups for various types of coffee is like a cocktail bar only having pottery breakfast mugs. No sincere apology, No offer of a refund. I guess staff training is something the management of Coffee #1 don’t bother with, they certainly ought to. One of the biggest problems is that most so called ‘baristas’ in the UK chains do not have respect for the food and drink they serve unlike the true Italian maestros of coffee.

The attitude of some of the staff here is disgusting, need serious training in customer service. overpriced and dirty with tables full of used cups etc. certainly a very poorly run establishment. you have to ask for sugar, spoons and serviettes and when you do you get a look of disgust from the staff. the place is an absolute shambles and should be avoided

My wife and I called in for a coffee and toastie. The knife they gave me with my toastie was filthy and clearly still caked in food. The majority of the tables had dirty used cups etc on them so alot of potential customers were immediately leaving the store. When I spoke to the staff there regarding my concerns they were just not interested, and they clearly need training in Food Hygiene, and Customer Service. Has this place got a manager ?? as its totally unacceptable, unorganised and dirty. We will not be returning thats for sure oh and its overpriced too. This Company and its Customers deserve better.

This is now my favourite coffee shop and I am in here once or twice a week. Due to freezing temperatures today I had a hot chocolate with the works-cream, marshmallows etc as a treat. I am a big fan of this Coffee#1 branch. The staff are really friendly and efficient as the customers just seem to stream in and they have an “all hands to the pump” approach to serve everyone as promptly as possible-sometimes you may have to queue and hunt for a seat but that’s to be expected in a popular cafe as so many people like it! You can’t have it both ways -or should I say have your cake and eat it! The staff are always nice and friendly and busily efficient to get everyone served and the drinks are usually of a high standard, so I am rather mystified by the previous review on here as it does not ring true of my experience of numerous visits here. Maybe he reviewed the wrong coffee shop??

Popped in today just for a coffee but couldn’t resist the big choice on display of yummy cakes! Chose a chocolate and orange cake, and it was absolutely moreish alongside my cappuccino. Despite the steady stream of customers coming in through the door the staff were smiley and helpful and everywhere was neat and tidy. I say this as some coffee stores never clear the tables but they did here. All round good experience.

Visited on 13/05/2022 During lockdown, Coffee #1 would only accept card payments and therefore I avoided this establishment due to being forced to pay via means that I did not want to after ordering...I decided to give them another chance last week and wish I hadnt. Purchased a filter coffee and toasted teacake, after being served by young lasses who all appeared to not take any interest in the customer, nor quality of the products that they were serving, rather more in their artificially inflated lips which is enough to put anyone off wanting to eat or drink anything! Regularly, the filter coffee has been brewed earlier in the day which I accept, but I do not think it is acceptable to be served a cold drink which is supposed to be hot. My coffee was cold, so I again had to queue to report this and request a fresh drink which was made whilst the teacake was being toasted. Operative rightly apologised, attempted to fill my cup with more "boiling" water before putting the same brewed filter coffee in to make the fresh drink, without brewing anymore fresh coffee. She held the cup to see if it was "hot", which I was presented with. As I returned to my seat and took a sip, I found that the coffee temperature was exactly same as before, clap-cold, so I thought I would give it up as a bad job. Next to arrive was the toasted teacake which is stored on the counter under a plastic sheet during the day. The operative toasted this, managed to get one half toasted and the opposite side burned. When biting into the teacake, as well as being burned it was stale and dry in the middle, probably due to the way in which it is stored for presentation. As you can probably tell, my experience was terrible and I was forced to leave quickly, after wanting to take my time and relax. Spending more than £5 is not cheap and with a multitude of cafe competition in High Town, the staff need to get their products right, treat their customers well or will be loosing custom daily. It is worth noting that Coffee #1 Hereford has recent reviews of 1 star and my advice would be to try elsewhere. The solitary redeeming feature was that the coffee shop has large windows to open during the Summer months and it is pleasant to sit in and look out and the World going by whilst enjoying the fresh breeze. It really is a shame that you are forced to buy their food and drink when sitting in a window seat. I wonder if they would mind if I brought a flask next time...

Sunshine outside after a little rain in Hereford town centre's main square. Now the old square after new shopping centre expanded the town centre several years ago. Coffee #1 was a family concern. I have an App for it and after helpful service managed to buy two strong tasting Americano coffees. Very strong but nothing like Turkish coffee or Moroccan coffee available off the Portobello Road. I had my partner with me, we shared conversation, thought and time. An enjoyable visit. A padded back and seat and occasional armchairs, standard French café furniture making for a cosy stay and pleasant relaxing atmosphere. I've visited this outlet many times, I'll be there again. My only critique is that sometimes coffee is lukewarm and the prices seem slightly too high. Other than that, a reasonable stop off whilst shopping.

Coffee was excellent quality and cake was lovely however the staff were absolutely horrendous. Very long queue when I visited, as there usually is, but no management to be seen whatsoever. Young lad working moved some staff around as it was obvious they were struggling and the queue moved much quicker and service was way more efficient. Tall lady with glasses then appeared and proceeded to scold the young lad for using his initiative, overheard saying "I am a shift runner, I'm in charge, you don't move people around" leaving the young lad very clearly upset and crestfallen. I was horrified to be witness to this blatant lack of leadership, will not be returning. The standards in this branch have seriously decreased over the past year and its truly a shame.

Members of staff behind the counter was not very welcoming, not a great start then when waiting for the drinks I heard two staff blatantly moaning about another member of staff for no reason. The two serving and making the drinks had very little care in how they were seen by members of the public. No sense of people skills nevermind coffee making skills. Visited this store today for a 'quick' coffee, eventually got to be served, told the waitress what we wanted, she then took the cakes from the covered areas and put on two plates behind the girl making the coffee. Two people in front of me waiting for their coffee, so all the time my cakes were on the back having flies land on them. When I finally got our coffee I had to ask for my fly bitten cakes behind here. My order was then put in a tray dirty with spillages of drinks from the customers before me. Your whole customer experience and serving methods need to be review by some one on the customer side of the counter. It really is very very poor quality

We were in Hereford shopping and we called into Coffee #1 in High Town late morning for bog standard coffee with milk and cake, found a table, and joined the tedious queuing system. No Portuguese custard tarts (pasteis de nata) left, so we had victoria sandwich and earl grey iced fruit cake, both of which were fine. But the coffee doesn’t do it for us. It had a slightly bitter edge but seemed weak at the same time, as if the shots weren’t big enough or they need one more for the size of cup. We think this was one of our first ever visits to a Coffee #1 branch, which we guess is a bit strange given the chain is based in our home city, but we don’t think we’d head straight to another branch as our first choice coffee shop.

While visiting my home city (Hereford) on my bike back in August on what was a lovely sunny day I found I had an 1 hour to kill before meeting someone at the station. My phone had just died and I was happy to see this "new" (to me anyway) coffee shop was still open. It was close to 6pm and town was quiet and as a coffee lover I could not think of a better way to spend an hour than with a cup of coffee. I went in and stood reading the verbose list of various coffee drinks with great intrigue and excitement at the possibility of trying something new. It took probably a minute to make my mind up as the staff were busy cleaning I just waited patiently. The girl had notice I was there so I didn't think it would be long.

Yes this one is up to the usual good standard for this chain. We always go to them if they are in the town we are visiting. The main reason in the taste of the coffee, just as we like it.

I'm not a big fan of chain store coffee shops but having visited the Tewkesbury branch I thought I should try the local one.

As coffee shops go this is a fairly nice one and the seasonal coffee I was given was very nice. I sat outside which was nice. The inside seating area also looked good.

This is part of a chain and is a similar layout to Costa or Loungers. The fayre is pretty much the same. The staff helpful and pleasant. The loo facilities are dire. One loo without ventilation on one floor and one on the other. On busy days expect queues for unhygienic facilities.

Well worth a visit! Friendly staff, pleasant surroundings inside and out and brilliant coffee. You'll be sorry you missed it if you don't give it a try.

It seems Hereford's newest Coffee shop have spent all their time, money and thought on interior design, whilst the place looks great, they do not actually know how to brew coffee as it should, resulting in the oils floating on the top of the Americano, rather than a crema. I can make better coffee at home than this, without the expensive machinery. The place does seem busy, and I would prefer to spend my money in a local business, but not if they provide sub standard product served with a poof attitude.

I had not heard about this chain until it turned up in Droitwich and my friends were saying how good it is.

My first encounter with this chain. Very well presented menu. It's a pity they only had one brew machine working so after studying the extensive menu for a long time I was disappointed not to be able to have my choice!

Went in today for coffee with my family and it took 25 minutes to get served. The place is always full and it's hard to find a place to sit. The coffee is good and it is a shame that staff face the challenge of keeping drinks hot from order to till. Today one customer refused to take their tea at the till as it had been sat for 5 minutes in their view as they shuffled slowly towards the till to pay behind the other customers.

This over priced coffee house was not a good experience. The tables were not cleared, the service was bismall. The coffee itself was not hot. The ambience lacked atmosphere. Not for us.

OK so the decor is eclectic shabby chic - although the very dark green paintwork does look a bit dreary. Looks like a trendy independent but in truth it is part of the Brains of Cardiff brewery chain.

Walk-in at 6.00 on a Saturday evening, as we happened to be in the area and lived the look of the menu. Nobody greeted us, but we asked the lady who appeared to be in charge whether they were serving food that evening. She rolled her eyes. The conversation then went as follows: Her: Have you booked? Us: no, I'm afraid we haven't. Her: Huh. (Rolls eyes again, goes over to the bookings list). It's very quiet, but I don't really want to do any more today. Us:... Her: I suppose I could do 7 o'clock... Us: Don't worry, bye! Her: Huh. No way were we going to give our business to somewhere with such a bad attitude. But it turned out well for us - we ended up at the Lal Bagh Bangladeshi restaurant down the road, and had possibly the best curry we've ever eaten!

First visit to The Railway Inn Dinmore. Friendly, welcoming and helpful staff. 1 adult had an allergy to a foodstuff, staff were able to advise which meals were suitable - majority of meals, but Chef would accommodate as meals were freshly prepared. Booking advisable. Wait a while for your meal as its freshly prepared but well worth the wait. Good presentation of food, hot, tasty good quality. Off the beaten track, but well worth a visit. Beautiful location and tasteful décor. Will certainly visit again.

Nice place, but when asking about nuts in the carrot cake the girl didn't know. Shouldn't rain their staff on anaphylaxis and its dangers.
