One of the toasties was only warm so had to go back for reheating. Then realised my partners milk jug was filthy dirty inside & out. I tried cleaning the inside of it with an anti bac wet wipe & hey presto it made a difference. I pointed this out to a staff member who apologised & said the dishwasher is not cleaning the milk jugs properly. I explained they should not be using them if this is so. Yuck, what else isn’t it cleaning? Not returning, far too dirty for me & not willing to pay for this type of service.

Poor service very slow and long ques, does no one that owns the business ever read the reviews of the customers, dirty tables previous customers dirty plates and crockery left on tables that never seem to be collected. The guy making the coffee seemed pleasant enough but took an age to make it one at a time. Will not be going back again as several cafes in walking distance and a lot better atmosphere.

The total experience here is getting worse! Have had coffee here many times, Latte mainly, and it's always tepid at best. The hot chocolate we had the other day failed on the "hot" part. Service is very slow since a change of managers recently. Family members have said they won't go back there, such a shame.

Being regular clients to Coffee 1 I have commented previously on the lack of staff and have messy the place becomes when it’s busy. I’m not knocking the staff as they do work hard it’s just the lack of staff numbers. However, today there was a new guy making the coffee and handling the food onto the trays where visitors take their goods from the counter. Although he seemed a nice chatty guy he has a beard which is probably 9 to 12 inches long which actually hangs over the goods he’s serving. I wouldn’t suggest for one minute that’s it’s dirty or anything like that but surely this isn’t very hygienic when serving food and drink.

Not sure what the problem is with this coffee shop but the service is so slow. Nobody in front of me but still had a wait to be served and then a good 10 minutes for 2 coffees to go.

Unbelievable wait, 34 minutes to get served. People join and leave the queue. The 2 staff there are totally unsuited for any busy environment, I dont totally blame them more the poor management who employed them and then left them to cope. At the end my large Americano was obviously just a single shot and not worth drinking. All totally unacceptable

Very rude accusatory attitude from the tall blond male working the lunchtime shift today. No people skills and definitely in the wrong job. Saved by the lovely friendly and organised blond female who took over and dealt with things in an efficient professional manner. If she isn’t already this lady should be in charge otherwise you’re going to start loosing customers if the males attitude is acceptable in the workplace.

Lovely little coffee shop, really good coffee and quickly made regardless of little staff and long queues. This store is always busy and staff always do well to get you a great coffee.

Often busy with long, slow moving queue during 'peak' times. I'm usually early morning, ordering via app which avoids queue and is very convenient when it works as intended. Knocked off a star or two because too often it is dirty under tables and chairs in particular. Crumbs, wrappers, napkins, etc. This debris is inevitable, but allowing it to remain and build up is poor.

As with other Coffee#1 shops the coffee was good and consistent. However, there was a long wait for the coffee, a big queue of customers but four staff working behind the counter should have moved things along a lot quicker. Uncleared tables also let this shop down. Dog friendly.

Customer service in this place has got progressively and significantly worse over the past few years. Such a shame as it’s quite nice inside, and perfectly located. I think it’s a training issue - even with three or four staff on, no one ever seems to be in charge or running the show with anything resembling efficiency or professionalism. Service is consistently and ridiculously slow. Three people in front of me today; three staff working. 15 mins to get an Americano. This is typical of all my recent visits. Will be taking my custom elsewhere from now on - recommend the Hamptons (always well staffed, very friendly and efficient) or the cottage bakery.

We were halfway-through walking around the surrounding pathways of Chipping Sodbury; along parts of the Frome Valley Walkway on a perfect autumn day. We eventually came-upon a familiar-looking footbridge; we knew this led into the town-centre. We saw this as an almost divine sign to have a much-needed coffee. This café, accessed via the aforementioned footbridge, sits right on the High Street at the entrance to Hatherell’s Yard Market. We have passed this café on many occasions but, as a couple, this was only the second time in seven years that we have stopped for coffee here. It was 15:00 on the button, and the café was quite busy. There is no table service here, so my Partner joined a moderately-sized queue for counter service. I went to claim a table, and then sat and waited for my Partner to return with the refreshments. Initially there were two baristas at the counter serving, but one stopped serving to attend to something else. The remaining barista then, started taking the next order; but from the customer in the queue behind my Partner! My Partner was for a moment speechless, and then brought the matter to the attention of the barista. There were many apologies from the customer who had ‘queue-jumped’ in error, and the barista who was obviously not paying enough attention to the job at hand. So, eventually two large Americano coffees (with hot milk) were ordered. This was the second time, in the last three weeks, that this has happed to us, previously at another nearby café. Surely, when serving, you address the person at the head of the queue, and ask something like “Have you been served?” The upshot was that it took very nearly 15 minutes to be served. Counter service here needs improvement, as I’m sure customers would consider going elsewhere if, at the outset, this is the wait to be expected. The coffee was very good, extremely hot, and at £2.90 for a large mug represented good value.

Sick and fed up of visiting chipping sodbury recently there is a new girl who I’m sure just serves hot milk whatever you order Please train your staff to make a coffee that is worthy of spending 3.50 on !!

Although the coffee and treats are delicious (the cost reflects this), it is always disappointing to be left waiting at the counter for an age whilst being stoically ignored by two members of staff! It’s not great customer service to present yourself as too busy to acknowledge those waiting or even make eye contact…especially when it’s first thing in the morning and the cafe is empty other than the queue!

Went to Coffee #1 Chipping Sodbury and it was a great experience. Drink was made with uptmost precision and food was delicious. Raspberry croissant, who'd have thought it! The manager, Lauren, is absolutely delightful. Friendly smile and great conversation. She works very hard, and it's so obvious in the way she runs such a tight ship. Very organised. Definitely will be visiting again that's for sure!

25 minutes to get two coffees not the first time will not be coming back other premises in area who put service higher up the agenda

I had a great coffee here delivered with excellent service. Also had tasty breakfast rolls and their pastries were delicious, especially the raspberry croissant.

Just made the mistake of revisiting Coffee#1 in Chipping Sodbury. Ordered breakfast for 2. A couple of drinks, croissant and a vegan wrap. It takes a special person to manage to serve one burned and the other cold. This was after a wait of 15 minutes (the member of staff did apologise for the wait,) when 1 other customer was served! So; not entirely busy. To make matters worse the individual misinformed (this is being generous) me that ‘it takes about 20 minutes for loyalty points to be added’. When I received none and asked if this could be rectified, I was informed that there was nothing to be done. Well, let’s see what happens when I contact head office for their response.

Regularly visit this coffee shop on my daily walks and every time they provide such brilliant drinks. I’ve now come to love their seasonal coffee!!

This Coffee#1 has kept us going through lockdown. The staff are always so friendly and helpful and since we became vegan we’ve come regularly as there is such an impressive range of vegan treats, not just the token one or two you get in most places. Our favourite is the Vegan Meatball Wrap in this picture and also the Blood Orange Tart, Super Dark Triangle and Banana Chocolate loaf and Blackberry Crumble. We love them all!

Me and my wife where on out weekly walk around the wonderful town of chipping sodbury and happened upon coffee#1 and facniced ourself a treat so my wife had a latte and I gave their seasonal flat white a go and I have to say the coffee was fantastic perfect temperate and flavour and the lovely gentleman who served us was very welcoming and abd really nice to talk to and the young lady with him was also a joy to speak to and the building is lovely will definitely be making this a staple on our walks 10 out of 10 would recommend

I have always enjoyed this coffee shop, it has excellent service with very friendly and attentive staff. They always guarantee amazing cakes, hot drinks and food and a lovely atmosphere of course!

On my usual weekend walk I called in to Coffee No1 in Chipping Sodbury for my seasonal cappuccino. The staff are as always very friendly and helpful and the service is great.

Visited during lockdown, FANTASTIC service, the staff are always so warm and friendly. Nothing is too much trouble. There is always a queue but I think this reflects how fanatic the shop is that everyone wants to go. I never mind having to wait as I know I’ll be satisfied. Lately they’ve been taking measures to help customers feel safer, like limiting the amount of people in the store at one time. This was reassuring as I’m very worried regarding Covid. Can’t praise them enough !!

Stopped here after going on a walk and purchased some coffees, cake and food. The staff were very friendly and super helpful and the store was extremely clean and Covid safe. It’s great that this shop is open for takeaway still - this has been the best part of my entire lockdown. Thanks for much Coffee one for the 10/10 consistency.

Don’t even bother. Only coffee shop open after 2.00 pm so no other choice except to do without which is the option we took. Only one poor person serving and the que was 6 or 7 long. Based on previous experience this would have taken some time to serve. Yet again they failed.If there was anywhere else open I’d gladly give them my custom. Such a shame as this could be a really great coffee shop if the management were interested.To the person who sent me an abusive message last time I posted a review for Coffee#1 - you will be reported if this continues. Constructive criticism is fine, abuse isn’t.

Arrived at 3.47pm by my iPhone on a Sunday afternoon, and they’d locked the doors - even though we could see people inside - and put up a ‘See you Soon’ sign, even though they had two signs on the door saying they were open until 4pm, or 4.30pm?! Very annoying!!! We won’t bother again!

Otra visita decepcionante.Esta vez no, lo cual fue una agradable sorpresa ya que la espera suele ser insoportable incluso cuando no hay tanta gente esperando.En una visita anterior me dijeron 'No hay café, se nos acabó' esta vez fue 'nos hemos quedado sin leche normal' (hay una tienda de Spar enfrente para que puedan conseguir más fácilmente) La única opción era tomar leche que realmente no quería / no me gustaba o nada de café.Realmente me cuesta entender cómo este lugar permanece abierto ya que el nivel de servicio está más allá de una broma, lo cual es una verdadera lástima ya que el lugar es acogedor. Desafortunadamente, su sistema unidireccional 'Covid' todavía no funciona ya que la puerta trasera se dañó con los vientos, aunque esto sucedió hace más de un mes, por lo que hay mucho tiempo para arreglarlo.En respuesta al abuso que recibí de alguien después de mi última revisión, me gustaría señalar que tienen 2 máquinas de café, por lo que sería extremadamente improbable que ambas fallaran al mismo tiempo (si esa fuera su excusa). Having read the latest reviews, these people clearly have no grasp of the current situation. We also visited this store at the weekend and found the male mentioned to be his usual friendly, professional and helpful self. We did however witness him having to tell several people to put on their masks, again politely and professionally. Why should he have to though??? Firstly, is it not pretty obvious by now that you wear a mask? Why is it down to him to try and stop you from catching a deadly illness? Maybe you should play some part in that too?! Also, I can only assume that the people commenting are all illiterate as there are numerous clear signs asking for masks to be worn. Should the store also offer reading lessons!? The store should be congratulated on enforcing the rules and keeping us all safe so, from a grateful (and literate) regular, thank you! Also, great coffee as always :)

Esta tarde visité el Café # 1. Nunca antes me habían pedido que usara una máscara en una cafetería, sin embargo, un hombre que se acercó a mi cara y no llevaba una, me gritó groseramente. Después de intentar pedir nuestro café, le di mi tarjeta de sello de café, que estaba sellada en mi última visita hace unas 3 semanas sin quejas, y se rió de mí diciendo: "No lo hemos hecho en mucho tiempo". Another disappointing visit. Told off for not having a mask which I fully understand so made a temp one to comply. Same rules didn’t apply to customers sat at tables waiting for drinks or those leaving the shop. After another long wait to be served (I was next in the queue) then to find out they didn’t have the coffee. This is local and they stay open beyond lunchtime unlike the 2 other coffee shops in Chipping Sodbury so it’s a real disappointment when they run out of coffee and are so slow.

Great location, quirky and comfortable, the best coffee around and lovely staff. Nowhere else quite compares.

A nice spot for coffee. We were very comfortable sitting in chairs by the window. A cheerful bustling place, nice and warm on a child windy day. The staff very helpful. The coffee was a bit average but the gf brownie was very nice. They did have substitute milks which was helpful. A nice enough experience.

Catching up with friends again at the good old coffee 1 was little mental with how busy it was but staff did amazing and apologising for the slight delay as they worked through each order, I’m not fussed when I can see it’s busy for timings my coffee was great food was hot, loved the NY Deli was amazing !! Plus staff were so lovely despite under pressure would defiantly recommend this a place to visit

Tal personal desorganizado. . ¡uno toma los mismos pedidos, toma el dinero y luego el otro prepara el café mientras que otros 3 se mueven en el fondo! I visit here on a regular basis today was the worse one to date. Waited 20 mins to be served appreciate it was busy and only 4 members of staff working. Not even apology for waiting. Toasted teacake was not even toasted. Will be giving this a wide berth for 2020 I think

I am generally a big fan of Coffee 1 cafes. However Chipping Sodbury is something of an exception based on four consecutive visits. Usual good coffee etc, but the service is infuriating. Happily chatting away to ex staff members whilst a queue builds, very impersonal to everyone else. If there were a good alternative here I would take it like a shot. Even the chains in Yate are starting to look appealing. One person in front of me today, 10 minute wait for a coffee. No acknowledgment. Poor poor poor.

Weekly visit as impressive as always. Friendly, helpful staff, great atmosphere and, of course, the best coffee and cake!

I went to coffee no 1 today in Chipping Sodbury to have a social with a friend. It was so refreshing to be served by nice smiley friendly people.They were chatty sociable and happy.They were very busy and constantly had a queue. But they served as quick as possible but with a lovley friendly vibe.Sometimes you go in a shop or cafe and it's the opposite.So thankyou to all the team who were serving today Sat 30th November, reallynice experience.

Stopped for a coffee just before closing time but still welcomed advised if not finished they could put in a paper cup. Wasn’t made to feel I was being a nuisance like if found in other shops Looks really cosy

I pop in here almost daily for my coffee fix! ☕️It is one of the few coffee places that stock oat milk and they make a perfect coffee with it 👌They are always very friendly and welcoming too! 😊

Llamé aquí con un amigo para tomar café y pastel, ya que el lugar había sido muy recomendable. ¡Admito que tuvimos que hacer cola durante bastante tiempo, pero todo eso se olvidó una vez que vimos los gigantes pasteles de té tostado y los cruasanes de almendras! El personal nos pareció amable y servicial, y la comida era deliciosa. El café también era bueno y era un ambiente agradable y relajado. Definitivamente regresaría y me complacería recomendarlo a otros.

Me encanta este lugar y estoy completamente en desacuerdo con los últimos dos comentarios. Sí, ciertamente puede estar ocupado, ¡pero hay una razón por la que todos van allí! El mejor café, la gran variedad de comida y el personal siempre están felices de conversar y ayudarnos, ¡especialmente teniendo en cuenta la cantidad de personas con las que tratan cada minuto! Afortunadamente, tengo un poco más de paciencia que algunos clientes y sé que el personal siempre está haciendo lo mejor que puede. 'No vaya en los momentos más ocupados si no quiere hacer cola' es mi consejo y recuerde. . . . . No vale la pena molestarse con el café, ¡tan bueno como está allí!

Agree with the comments below. Slow unfriendly service. No seems to care and no eye contact or acknowledgement which would make the wait more bearable.

Have been coming here for the last 6 weeks as my child has a tennis lesson at 10am. Have arrived every Satursday at 9.45 and have never been serviced before 10am. I have been late for tennis every week. The worst part is it is not even that busy. The staff have no care about the queue building up and do not apologise for their delay. I get the coffee os the best but it's the sloth like peace of the staff that really gets to me.

We've been coming here for years, it's a friendly comfortable place and the coffee is great but....the service is getting worse and worse. The staff themselves are fine but there are never enough of them and they always seem to be new and hence learning. High staff turnover is usually a sign that people don't enjoy working there so perhaps management need to be looking at why that is. Also the ordering system is shambolic with counter staff leaving the front counter (i.e. serving customers) to make whatever food the previous customer has ordered meaning the queue at the counter gets longer and longer.....The lack of staff means basic housekeeping is missing, tables rarely get cleared or wiped for example.

A lovely place to relax / chill with family / friends , a wide range of hot drinks . Can also sit outside , weather permitting .

Good range of coffees and cakes are always available. All at realistic prices. Surroundings are comfortable without being too fussy. Thoroughly recommend.

I've been to many coffee #1 before and had amazing coffee. Today was not the best!. We ordered 1 latte, 1 cappuccino, 1 panini, and a bacon bap. The lady who made our coffee, over heated the milk. She didn't know the diffrence between a cappuccino and a latte. As she made a cappuccino in a latte cup and called it a latte. I've been a barista for many years and your staff needs training on how to make coffee. The customer service was not the best as we was interrupted by a staff member at the till, while half way though on my order. There was no saying sorry. Also in the que the lady in front of us ordered a cheesecake on display. The lady at the till replied " it's still frozen" why put frozen cake on display? I don't think me and my partner will be back again, as we had such a poor service.

Entré con OH para un almuerzo temprano en algún lugar. Nuestra orden fue tomada, hasta ahora todo bien. Tenía la opción de unas pocas mesas vacías, todas las cuales estaban vacías de vasos sucios, etc., por lo que era bastante bueno. Mi refresco embotellado estaba bien, al igual que mi salchicha bap (era poco inspirador, pero espero que de este tipo de café), pero mi tarta de limón fue muy decepcionante. Era un lugar seco y soso. OH optó por un panini de tocino y queso que dijo que era un poco insípido seguido de una migaja de moras que no comentó, así que supongo que estuvo bien. Pero su taza de café fue un desastre. Cuando fue a levantar la taza del platillo para comenzar a tomar el café, la servilleta de papel que estaba debajo de la taza (¿por qué hacen eso?) Se fue con la taza. Claramente el camarero había derramado un poco del café cuando lo trajo a nuestra mesa, el café derramado se había empapado en la servilleta y se pegaba al fondo de la taza, el exceso de café derramado que no había sido absorbido por la servilleta se derramó sobre mi esposo y la mesa y su comida al igual que las gotas de café de la servilleta empapada. Un buen lío. Me apresuré a agarrar más servilletas de papel del otro lado de la habitación e hice un poco de limpieza. Cuando la camarera se acercó a traer nuestros pasteles, le dije que el café había hecho un buen lío (no se quejó de cómo había sucedido, solo señaló el desastre que había hecho OH) y ella sonrió y se marchó. Anticulé que regresaría con un paño para limpiar lo que habría hecho en su lugar si el cliente o el personal habían causado el desastre, pero ella no regresó. Tampoco nosotros.

Realmente agradable ambiente agradable, a menudo vengo a hacer cursos impulsados por la cafeína y el café aquí es el mejor. Un personal realmente encantador, una tienda bonita y limpia, ubicada en una ciudad de mercado realmente hermosa y pintoresca. Se adapta a la zona. Sin embargo, como se está cerrando, decidí probar algo nuevo! ¡El café es delicioso! ¡Tan suave y menos amargo que Starbucks! ! Además, los paninis son deliciosos y se sienten más como una comida con un poco de leetuice.

Went in and got a deluxe hot chocolate to share with my friend and the tables were all clear and the staff were really quick to serve us, as well as being really friendly. Really nice, peaceful and welcoming atmosphere, would thoroughly recommend a visit.

Coffee#1 has deteriorated since my last visit. Had to clear the table myself and many other also had the previous customers’s crockery on there. Service was painfully slow with a long queue and only one person making coffee. The final straw was one member of staff sneezing into his gloved hand and just carrying on with his duties. Elsewhere next time for me!

This is a really great place for meeting friends etc and we do visit regularly. However, the the reason it’s only a 3 is the tables are always blocked with dirty cups etc. We were in today and people were struggling to find clean tables and it wasn’t really busy. There were 3-4 staff on and there was 7 tables in the front of the establishment that had dirty cups and saucers on. People were clearing the tables themselves and stacking dirty stuff on other tables.

By far the best of the coffee shop chains. The staff are super friendly, the food is great and there's always a lovely atmosphere in the coffee shop.

Was there for a drink and snack New Years day. Felt very sorry for the staff serving. Just one person taking the money and helping the other making the coffee. She was very stressed and was quite rude in her service and also over charged me by £3+ . Because receipts are not given except when asked for I had little opportunity or proof to query my bill and also there was a constant stream of customers whilst I was there , so no opportunity to ask her.

Lugar bastante agradable, servicio decente pero el 'Barista! 'No tenía idea de cómo preparar un capuchino. No me impresionó que los croissants no estuvieran cubiertos y en el lugar donde ordenó hacer todo lo que los clientes respiraban sobre ellos, en Bristol están cubiertos. El ambiente estaba arruinado por grandes cantidades de cajas de cartón apiladas en la zona de asientos. El barista estaba vestido como un elfo de Navidad y era tan miserable como el pecado. Todo el lugar parecía sucio y los inodoros no estaban limpios, ni gancho para saco ni bolsa, lo que demuestra una falta de consideración. EVITAR.

We enjoyed our time in chipping sodbury & this place is well worth a visit.The place was packed & that says it all.

Pasó a estar en Chipping Sodbury y descubrió el café de No 1. Un área de piso más grande que otras No 1 que uso y mejor para eso. Encontramos el personal servicial, educado y hablador. Cofffee alcanzó el estándar alto habitual. Dicho esto, las tablas deben limpiarse con mayor frecuencia, por lo tanto, cuatro estrellas.

Used to like Coffee 1 but feel its really losing its edge. Decor tired, scruffy and many tables and chairs with dirty pots on. Staff busy but not enough of them. Also didn’t enjoy coffee and not worth the wait.

Visited Coffee#1 with a friend yesterday! The young girl serving was clearly very annoyed with a another customer. When it came to serving me, I could see she was still annoyed and thought she handled herself very badly!

I visited Chipping Sodbury yesterday, with my daughter, as part of the Grommit Unleashed 2 trail, raising funds for Bristol Children's Hospital.

Lovely cuppa tea but the cake I ordered was stale- swapped for another one but that one wasn't much better. Will try another coffee shop when I'm next in chipping sodbury

What a nice building ... lively customer base .... comfy eclectic mix of chairs and conversation areas. The staff was attentive and friendly. The coffee very nice and the blueberry & mixed fruit cheesecake was to-die-for. Larger area, but still homey feeling. A definite must-stop.

Always excellent coffee, and real tea, ie tea leaves!, in a teapot. Friendly, efficient staff. A good chain, and in Chopping Sodbury, a good, unusual, atmosphere

Coffee No 1, a fitting name for a place that serves excellent coffee & cake & croissants. Look no further just come and enjoy your visit to Chipping Sodbury, I did and if it had been the only place I visited in the town it would have been worth it.

Good but there are better in chipping sodbury. Prices on some things a bit steep. There is plenty of tables and chairs inside as it is large. Some of the tables are a little past it and need re-furbishing

Pedimos té como me gusta débil solicité agua caliente. Me dieron una taza de agua caliente no extra teteras. También costuras no tienen jarras. No considero que es seguro o aceptable de esperar para intentar salvos pura agua hirviendo con seguridad de una taza. Servicio pobre.

Service was prompt tables clean coffee very tasty and the food delicious. I had the Boston cheesecake. Toilets spotless and outside courtyard a suntrap would highly recommend this place.

Volvamos a Inglaterra sobre una base regular y siempre dirigirse a café #1 cuando estamos en la zona de Chipping Sodbury. Gran selección de bebidas, calientes y fríos. Gran selección de dulces y salados para acompañar las bebidas.

Ambiente agradable y distribución pero no te molestes en pedir té. Sé que es una cafetería pero esta fue probablemente la taza de té de desayuno más repugnantes que he tenido. Primero de todo lo que tuve que buscar si vendían té. Me dijeron que sí lo hicieron, incluyendo el té del desayuno. Personalmente no considero que utilizan luz ámbar de 70 olores de perfumes y sabores de té desayuno moho Palma violetas.

Came here a year ago and had a pretty poor experience; this time was much better.Quick, efficient service at the counter. Nice piece of cake. Tables cleared, and pleasantly cool inside on a hot afternoon.A great improvement!

Last time I counted, we had four coffee shops in sodbury, but this is the best one I have sampled!! I really like the drinks, however for the quality I think it is too overpriced. We only go here if we have a special reason

I had never been to the Coffee Bean before, will be going back. Staff are friendly and welcoming, it may be small but the atmosphere is huge! A selection of home made cakes to delight any palate.I had the light bite - welsh rarebit bacon, cheese and poached duck egg on a toasted muffin, was delicious and a great option to a sandwich. Cup of tea - surprised to find it was a pot of tea with enough for two cups in a nice teapot that did not drip everywhere like some places you go.It is dog friendly as well with a little courtyard garden out the back for you and your four legged friends.All in all a very enjoyable lunch. Would recommend you book and reserve a table because i was a really busy little place.

Really good location in high street with good opening times, however general standard is going slightly down hill. Queues can be quite long at times too.

Staff is very welcoming and coffee is decent. However it could do with employing someone to clean the tables during the day.

Coffee, tea and hot chocolate and a selection of cakes and biscuits. There was a nice atmosphere and easy access to parking.
