Coffee#1 in Sedgemoor

Staff bored and fed up with their jobs. Ordered 3 drinks: Mocha - tasted like barely flavoured water which ended up in the sink. Pumpkin pie latte - very sweet and less then half a cup of drink. Pumpkin spiced frappe - my son said it tasted like cream, with milk, barely any flavour at all. Absolutely ridiculous for the price they charge. Tasteless drinks and miserable staff... not coming back again.

We went in to have coffee and porridge, was told bluntly they didn’t have the ingredients to make it, this was the third week they they “didn’t have the ingredients to make it “ on a previous visit I had some bananas in my shopping so asked if they could have as this which they did , and still charged me the full price ! After complaining to the staff I was backchatted rudely and was told “if I don’t like it complain to the area manager” It’s plainly obvious that the staff do not want to make porridge and run the stock down deliberately so it’s “ off the menu” when all the easy to serve ie cakes etc are always in stock. Rude poor lazy service in a dirty coffee shop with a toilet you definitely would not want to use ! Even a cat waking along the serving top. Appalling service filthy toilet and foul staff ! What more can be said !!

Whenever I am in the area, my cousin and I meet at this cafe. They are always busy, regardless of the time of day. My coffee is always good, so I cannot complain. The staff are friendly and accommodating to customers. Nothing is too much trouble for any of them.

Great coffee and clean store. The two members of staff, Connor and Deacon were very friendly and made us feel very welcome! Will definitely be returning

Coffee 1 is very acomadateing friendly stuff especially Deacon always a lovely place to go for a coffee of a ice tea.

Best coffee shop in Bridgwater, highly recommend going here and the staff are great ,always friendly and you can also take dogs in too, which is great and they even have dog treats. Great coffee and good food or snacks 😋

Coffee is always faultless, never had a problem. Although, at this particular shop in Bridgwater, I’m not sure if the red-haired supervisor/manager lady has several bad days, or simply just doesn’t like to be very polite or cheerful, but every time I’ve been served by her she’s been very rude and stern-faced. First time I let it slide thinking everyone has bad days, but today on the second occasion I just had to say something.

Drinks were warm not hot. The three staff behind the counter more interested in talking than clearing the 7/8 tables with empties on for at least an hour with very few people in. Needs a manager.

Now I used to frequent this place quite a lot. Today I found it to be dirty - entrance mat not been to hoovered for a week cobwebs under the tables dishwasher not working so that so paper cups being used. Understaffed.Tables not cleaned or cleared. So overall the only way is up!!!. Greggs is better and half the price!!

Staff happy to help, dog friendly, lovely smoothies. A good selection of cakes and savouries. I will come again.

It wasn't very clean the stairs and Window ledges very dusting and And not very friendly staff And the drinks are not very nice

Long wait - mediocre coffee We stopped here while visiting Bridgewater, and faced a coffee. The queue was short but it must taken about 15 mins to get a coffee flat white and Americano. The coffee was quite bitter and bland. I have bee in several and the service is quicker and the coffee much better quality.

Came here for a quick pit stop during a sunny shopping day. Me and my partner are exempt from wearing masks, as per government guidelines due to disabilities. As soon as we told the waitress we are exempt when she pointed to her mask, we felt like customer service went out the door. Felt a little discriminatory. Panini was also quite gross and my partner only ate half. More ice than iced coffee.

Always relaxing and clean. Great selection of dairy free milks. Gluten free options available though there could be more. Chai, Matcha, tumeric and beetroot lattes are lovely additions to the menu.

Just been in Coffee 1 of Bridgwater... after a 20 minute queue I was told the card machine had not been working all day. I do not carry cash with me these days like most... I asked why the long queue of customers weren't informed, and only get to find out at the counter. They didn't even mention it until after ordering my food and drinks, at which point I was told I have to go and get cash before being handed my drinks. When I said my drinks will be cold by that time and asked if I could settle up after, being a 3 or 4 times a week regular customer, I was told NO. The guy behind me in the queue also complained and was told there was a sign on the entrance door but as me and my family promptly left, I checked, and there was no sign. This sort of attitude stinks... at the very least a chain like this should offer a free drink to apologise for the lack of services and for allowing customers to queue when most people pay with card or phone these days. There are plenty of other cafes in this town and I certainly will be taking our business elsewhere on the back of this experience. Good riddance Coffee 1 Payment option!

We came here for a quick lunch stop. My cheese and ham toastie was half a cheese and ham toastie. The heating wasn’t on. The loo needed a clean. So did the room. Grim.

Stopped on a shopping trip for coffe. Good position, nice atmosphere, coffee good and hot. Sat upstairs, good windows for people watching. The decor appeared ok, but a closer look at the ceiling showed that the dark stains and cracks were not decorations, but were water damage. The building could do with a refurbishment before it gets worse. I would still use them, but keep an eye out in case it goes to far.

I came here with my young daughter who is a bit of a regular. There was a nice selection of cakes and rolls and my daughter proceeded to tell me what she has on a regular basis. I now understand why she never has any money. £3+ for a small bacon roll is, in my opinion a little much (even if it is toasted). In fact it's all a bit pricey - however I guess its the norm for a place like that.Having said all that, in terms of environment and service - it's very good. The staff were friendly and smiled, the place was clean and it's tastefully decorated and pleasant to sit in. The gluten free brownie is also very nice and my daughter raves about the mini doughnuts!

This is my "to go to" cafe when I need a coffee...and a cake. Relaxing and tasteful atmosphere. Some lovely staff. Wonderful selection of coffee and they always get my vanilla soya latte just right :D The CAKES are beyond scrumptious.

Needed to have a sit down .. found this place Nice and Relaxing .. enjoyed a Pina Colada Smoothie- delicious 😋 .. would recommend

As I was sent to Bridgwater on business, I was glad to find a Coffee#1, as I frequent this coffee shop in Bristol. I was pleased to see happy staff and welcoming merchandising.As I ventured upstairs to do some work (as downstairs was far to noisy) I was glad to see ample plug sockets in appropriate areas.An overall pleasant experience but shame about the décor, needs some refurbishment or a lick of paint at the minimum.

With high hopes of getting a decent coffee and an inside seat with our Sausage Dog (it was raining and some dog friendly places mean sitting outside) we called in. The coffee was nice from freshly ground beans and we were able to sit inside with our dog. Tables had not been cleared and overall the place felt a little grubby

Popped in few days ago and had a like nightmare experience. Not only paid for a dreadful "coffee" but had to witness how rude and unprofessional the manager and stuff at Coffee#1 Bridgwater are...They have no clue about coffee and cannot even admit their mistake. What is more I witnessed when the manager had a chat with a very much polite customer and refused to serve him coffee, because WAIT FOR IT: this particular customer complained about the bad coffee before and apparently requested the coffee to be made again. This sort of clients are clearly friends fo the business because they offer You their opinion and make you do better,,,but here no one knows about improvement and customer service at all....

My nearest and dearest and myself met with friends for a morning coffee. As with past experiences, this establishment was rather busy. Although we did find a table for the four of us, it was not without some effort.

Not really helpful staff .... 3 people serving behind the counter was the only person waiting first 2 min they egnored me .... Needed to clear my own table from stuff that was left from previous People .. on thanks it's was really quite in there .... When I put the stuff on the counter from the previous People the 2 girls behind the counter were not even saying thank you .... I'm stunned how some people get a job !!!

If you come to Bridgwater in Somerset, try and make an effort to go to this very popular coffee shop. With its choice of coffee and selection of light snacks, it far exceeds anything else in the Town. There are upstairs and downstairs rooms all providing a very nice ambience go the place. The staff are exceedingly good at their jobs, and are very good in the customer service they give. Light snacks, pannini's, toasted sandwiches are always available, and a good selection of Danish pastries and cakes as well.

I came across this coffee shop by accident. I have two dogs and we had walked about 6 miles and I fancied a coffee break, i stopped at Costa 1st but it only let's in working dogs. On I went and found this brilliant coffee shop. The staff were warm and welcoming. The dogs were happy as I bought them a small treat whilst I had a coffee. The lady beside me only came into the coffee shop because they allowed dogs in, so well done coffee 1 you gained 2 more customers and Costa lost 2! I will definitely return with or without dogs.

We called in coffee#1 for a hot drink as it was so cold outside. The staff were very friendly, helpful and the coffee was served nice and hot. The hot chocolate was also very good.

This place has lost all appeal for me when I’m in the area. The staff I remember who were great have gone and it has seriously gone downhill since. My order was wrong and when I said what I had asked for I was scowled at as if it was my fault. The lady who I think may be the manager is very abrupt and rude at times. She also only fills cup half full and I object to that at the price of the coffee. One of the new staff asked to take our cups away while I was in the middle of drinking it! Feels like being rushed out. Such a shame as it was a really welcoming place to visit. Will have to look around for somewhere else.

What has happened to coffee #1? On my last visit all the regular staff have left! It was always a great friendly staff team, clean and tidy and quick service. This visit was a real let down, 15 minutes to get served and not once but twice getting my order wrong. Massive disappointment with everything. The question I need to ask how can a great coffee shop go rapidly down hill?

I have been visiting this store for years, however I popped in today and the coffee was so bad I had to leave it. After politely asking for a replacement I noticed the barista never even tamped the coffee down ( oh dear ! ) I couldn’t drink that one either. Such a shame it’s gone downhill.

Good coffee, plenty of cakes but above everything else fantastic service, always greeted with a smile. A very pleasant experience and that’s why I keep coming.

Had a morning to kill in Bridgwater and had never heard of coffee #1 before, so thought I’d check it out. Really nice place to sit and read the paper and a delicious flat white! Cakes all looked tasty too.

Always good coffee and my place of choice in Bridgwater - welsh cakes are lovely. I would however like to be able to get lunch here - however choice of sandwiches is poor.

I love going to coffee no1 there Coffee's r second to none and for me they beat Costa's hands down. The staff in there even though they look tried and knackered sometimes the service and manners from r excellentband the atmosphere is lovely and relaxing and comfortable. For me it's a shame the shop isn't bigger but for me the staff deserve a medal and a good pay rise with all the hard work and public they have to deal with day by day. But u can't go wrong if u want to have a lovely coffee and cake with lovely staff and comfortable surroundings to go to COFFEE NO1

Met up with family for coffee. Pleasent surroundings. Nice coffee and pleasent staff, ideal place to relax in.

Now coffee places are everywhere, you need something dependable and with comfortable and pleasant areas. This is fine and does not make me complain about prices.

I’ve never been to a Coffee#1 before, and didn’t realise it was part of a chain. I absolutely love this place. The coffee is good and the food is excellent. I have never seen such enormous teacakes! The staff are lovely and always cheerful. I think the atmosphere is great and will always use this coffee shop when I visit Bridgwater.

the title says it all. it is a hidden gem. the service has inproved vastly, the soups are glorious ( try the lentil & spinach dahl WOW!!!!)

I left an item behind and Natalie went to a lot of trouble to find it and phoned back twice as promised to keep me updated.

Coffee #1 in Bridgwater cannot be beaten for the quality coffee's they have on offer.

As yet, I do not think that we have had a bad coffee from in here. Being only visitors, we are unable to enjoy a drink from this cafe as often as would like.

Really nice friendly staff, but drinks, either hot or cold, were expensive. As for the £2 plus for little squares of cake/brownie/whatever? Yes, lovely, but I don't want to pay more than 50p per small mouthful. It's good, but not that good.

Tienda encantadora cafetería en el centro de la ciudad. De Bridgwater está lleno de los cafés que son lúgubres y mill onu atrayente. Este era mucho más vibrante y encantador café y pasteles.

Regularly visit here for all types of food and coffee. The porridge with cinnamon is gorgeous and the atmosphere is lovely with comfy chairs. Only small criticism is the service can be slow.

I visit coffee#1 on a regular basis, I find the coffee to be excellent, and when I go in early I have porridge which is very good.The staff are most helpful and friendly.The tables are cleared and cleaned very quickly, and the toilets are also kept clean.I recommend coffee#1 highly, give it a try, you will be glad you did.

Coffee number one has amazing coffee at a really good price as well and the tea cakes they sell are also as good.The staff here are very good at making you feel welcome

Nice place to stop and have a coffee after a wander around the shops. Didn't have a cake but all on display looked really good. Relaxed feel to the place and makes a big change from the more commercial stereotypical big chain places.

There is no friendlier staff in any other cafe that I went to, and I went to many. I absolutely love the coffee and the atmosphere is excellent. I would certainly recommend it to everyone!

Friendly staff, good coffee, comfy seats if you can get them, Wi-Fi available and normally quiet upstairs. So much more pleasant than Costa up the road.

I have visited many Coffee#1 places, overall this was the worst. My husband found 3 cocoa beans in his hot chocolate and there was a dead worm in the bottom of my tea. Never again!

I go to Coffee#1 on a regular basis. They do serve one of the best coffees around. However their Bridgwater branch lacks the enthusiasm and jolliness of your usual Coffee#1 employee. Everything seems a bit of a drag. Maybe because Bridgwater is not the nicest of places, and I can understand why there is an air of apathy amongst the staff,

Coffee #1 is excellent. The place is beautifully decorated and has lots of comfortable seating upstairs. The staff are really friendly and helpful. If you are vegan you can ask the staff what drinks are or can be made vegan and they can tell you straight away. They've never messed up my drink, whereas Costa have accidentally given me cows milk on several occasions. Also they sell a dark chocolate and ginger cake which is vegan! There are many gluten free options as well. Coffee #1 is great for visits with your partner, friends, family and colleagues. I thoroughly recommend it!

OK will start with the welcome. The customer before me was obviously known to them as they were chatting away to her. As the next in the queue I thought I would be served quickly but waited for a full minute, in the last 30 seconds I had my arm out holding the bacon roll I'd selected...it eventually caught their attention. Not so much as a smile when asked for my order.Was there today for an informal interview, couldn't have picked a worst place, the noise levels were atrocious even when no customers were in. I have never been anywhere where staff made more noise with crockery than here. Really the plate/cup washing area needed to be cordoned off floor to ceiling.I have visited some establishments that have noise absorption 'pillows' on the ceilings, this place is a prime candidate for such treatment. So that we could make each other understand what was being said we had to move our chairs closer and actually put our heads together.Coffee was average but OK.They could improve their customer skills by simply smiling, at both customers new and old, you'd almost think that they were trying to put customers from visiting again. If so it worked in my case.

Although this cafe was busy, we felt that the staff were exceptionally noisy. We could not hear ourselves talking, while the staff rattled the cutlery and crockery. There was nothing wrong with our drinks, but we thought the experience could have been better.

On a rainy day in Bridgwater, this coffee shop gave us a relaxing hour. Nice surroundings, good clientele, friendly staff, clean toilets and most of all, good coffee. Very impressed and I would be happy to return.

We normally visit this chain wherever we are and are used to fabulous coffee,warm and comfortable surroundings and friendly staff.Not so at this branch!Miserable staff,unwelcoming atmosphere and the coffee was aweful - tasted burnt and I would swear it was only a small shot - so weak it tasted like cheap instant.Never again! Wells,Weymouth,and Yeovil branches really know how to serve fabulous rich coffee in a great atmosphere - Bridgwater take note!

The atmosphere in here has been set well with the furnishings and surroundings. The staff are friendly and they pay their taxes!!

This is, for me, Bridgwater's number one coffee bar. True to brand style it has a large floor area with distressed furniture and plenty of space between tables to have a private conversation plus a pleasing bohemian feel to its mezzanine. Toilets on both floors but no lift [thus not a five star award] and -beware- the circular staircase has steep steps so be careful when carrying your laden tray.The coffee is good as well. I am smitten by the flat white, especially with a slice of marble mocha cake. Mind you the Welsh cakes are good for a light afternoon snack with a pot of real tea. Service is always smiling and the barristas do a fine completion job. The complimentary bags of coffee grounds for the garden is a nice touch.Pleasingly mixed clientele.

Nice friendly service. There is a wide variety of coffee for sale and by that I mean different coffee beans used to make the coffee giving different flavours. As a black coffee drinker it gets a big thumbs up from me. Great variety, all the usual thing you would expect from a cafe.

As soon as you walk through the doors, the beautiful smell of coffee and baked goods hits you. The spacing and decor add a comforting, relaxed feeling to what can be described as a tranquil and inviting atmosphere. Staff are very friendly and the drinks are on point every time! There are short waiting times and you certainly get your money's worth! Not only that but the baked goods are superb! I have gone in there on a numerous amount of occasions and prefer it to other coffee houses in the area so would definitely recommend it!

my god!! this place has gone down hill. the service has got worse. the staff are rude & ill mannered. there 2 busy laughing at the customers & making sub standard coffee. there coffee is DEARER THEN COSTAS!!!! STEER CLEAR OFF!!!

Love the ambience and tasteful decor. I am a coffee addict so I can't fault a place that sells coffee like this. They also sell a wicked cheesecake. Service always friendly even if the queues are a bit urksum sometimes.

Coffee and cakes were good and selection of other food and drinks available was reasonable, and about average price, but why do establishments which specialise in coffee take so long to produce a cup?

I regularly go for a quick cup of coffee to Coffee#1. I sometimes have a welsh cake or tea cake which have always tasted freshly made. I guess that you could describe the furnishings as 'shabby chic'. I have noticed that this is a theme throughout a lot of their premises. I have found their toilets to be clean. Prices seem fairly standard. One downside is that when sitting downstairs it can be very noisy not only when busy but the banging of the staff with the coffee machine.

I would not visit coffee no 1 again after the poor service that i experienced. In fact I drank my drink and went to to COSTA who fell over backwards for me. They did say that people had been coming to them(COSTA) for more or less the same reason. There is also one more thing that I would like and that is that to say that their prices are overpriced for a cafe like theirs. Will not return there!!

We called in here for a quick snack and drinks before an appointment, we usually use Costa Coffee but decided on this place as an alternative.The decor is lovely and gives the impression of a nice cosy coffee house, it was a little chilly so we went upstairs.It was very busy and a long queue meant I was less than optimistic, however we were quickly served. I was going to have a slice of Victoria sponge but it looked less than appealing on the counter so opted for a lemon tart instead. The wife had a slice of chocolate Brownie.Once upstairs and seated we discovered the drinks were very good but the food was awful. The brownie my wife had was inedible, the lemon tart was bearable. Access is easy with no steps but you will need seating downstairs if you have a push chair or wheel chair, wifi is available using the free hotspot provided by Boots right opposite. No in house wifi is provided.Upstairs is furnished with comfortable sofas and chairs as well as the usual tables and chairs, the decor is very pleasant. All in all I would visit for drinks again but if I was planning on eating I would stick to something in a packet such as crisps.

Popped in for a coffee with friends here when I had a free Saturday morning.Went upstairs as downstairs was very suprised at the decor. Talk about needing a refurb - it looked like the furniture came from a poor second hand shop.None of the tables & chairs matched, and our table wobbled spilling our coffee all the time.I am definitely no snob, but it definitely needs a refurbishment soon.On the plus side, the coffee was ok, and at the end of the day that's what you go into a coffee shop for.

I go here a lot, the prices are better than the rivals and atmosphere is nice. The staff are sometimes a bit run ragged but generally very pleasant. The tables are usually cleaned quickly and the decor is cute. I am a fan of Coffee 1 but wish they did more sugar free syrups!

Courteous staff who serve excellent Latte to the individual person's taste i.e. one shot latte so it is not too strong!

Its a lovely meeting spot, I love the array of seating and the coffee is great.I feel like you don't have to wait too long for things.The nibbles they have are also very tasty.

I wrote a review a few days after our "experience" but for some reason it was deleted!My partner and I popped in for breakfast in March as we were attracted by the inviting look of the old building. It was closed, however we waited as it was only just after the 9 o'clock advertised opening time. The sign was turned to "open" after a few minutes so in we went....The lady inside said there wasn't anyone to serve us but other staff would be along shortly, and started mopping the floor. We thought, "fair enough, it's still early" and ordered a pot of tea when the slightly more friendly young man came in. We took a seat at the corner table nearest the counter so as not to inconvenience the cleaner, at which point she made a bee-line for us, mopping around our table so we were trapped! (I wouldn't have minded if she's done the filthy section of floor in the shop or rest of the seating area!)We were subjected to loud conversation about last night's TV but at no point were we actually spoken to. It finally quietened down enough for us to hear ourselves think when the staff all trooped outside, leaving the door open and us shivering! We left the money for our tea and elected to have breakfast elsewhere! I was very disappointed as it looked very promising from the outside but have never felt so unwelcome. Never again!!!

Coffee 1 is excellent for a relaxing coffee & snack...good choice of coffee....very good ambience. Service is lays prompt & efficient.

Staff are always polite and helpful, and the coffee and hot chocolate are delicious. If you're not watching your weight I highly recommend a toasted teacake. They are easily the size of a teaplate and served with 2 individual pots of jam and plenty of butter. Very yummy and very naughty
